Purely subjective but I hate the covers for this run. Looks like a DC cosplay calendar.
When Huntress elected to go undercover in Arkham Tower, it was to investigate a place of healing that seemed too good to be true. But what happens when Helena Bertinelli really does need some healing? With Nightwing and Batwoman also on the inside, what began as an undercover mission has turned into a rescue operation as the mysteries of Dr. Wear’s Arkham Tower begin to unravel! Then, in “House of Gotham” part three, the young boy rescued by Batman has begun his course of treatment at Arkham, so why are the only people showing him kindness those whom the law asserts are criminals? It’s a cycle of violence the Dark Knight has no answemore
It is creepy good storytelling accented by Blanco's strong art, Bellaire's moody colors, and Leigh's expert lettering. And I think Detective Comics has gone into permanent Halloween. Read Full Review

Ivan Reis delivers some fantastic imagery throughout the issue. The characters are dynamic and brilliant composed on the page. The action is thrilling throughout and there is a wonderful sense of tone to the art that enhances the story. Read Full Review
he story continues to flash back and forth between different time periods, but it's a highly compelling story about mental health that is pitting the Bats against a villain they can't punch. Given what we know about the ending, it feels like a dark march towards something terrifying. Read Full Review
Detective Comics #1049 remains at a high level of quality as the mystery unfolds a bit with interesting developments. The art on both stories from Ivan Reis, Danny Miki and Fernando Blanco is top-notch. "Shadows of the Bat" continues to be an interesting story that doesn't rely on "even hype" as it's strongest element. Read Full Review
Shadows Of The Bat continues to create new mysteries while poking at the darkness that surrounds the shining new Arkham Tower, building more and more to the eventual collapse we've already been witness to. Stellar artwork and great depth of character are major selling points to this already truly fascinating and engaging event story. Read Full Review

A solid issue with some fun revelations, giving out just the right amount of information to keep the narrative progressing and us coming back for more. Read Full Review
Another great story from Tamaki as she inches us closer to Day 24. Fans of Detective Comics should be pleased that this is a weekly event. Read Full Review
I feel like the "shocking" reveal robbed the rest of the arc of some of its unsettling dread, as it spelled out something that most fans assumed would already come to pass. It just robs the issue of some of the wind in its sails, which is a shame because this shaping up to be a pretty good arc. Read Full Review
"Shadows of the Bat" continues to be a mess. The creative team doesn't commit to fleshing out scenes before moving on to something else; our heroes aren't really accomplishing anything; and the story's slow pacing is seriously getting in the way of entertainment. I recommend staying away from this book, but if you really must have this story, then it's probably best to wait for the trade, as you'll likely be able to get that with a nice discount somewhere. So far, I really don't think this is worth your time and money. Read Full Review
Another satisfactory chapter to the Tower saga. But to be honest the real attraction seems to be the backup story. The main story was a rather so-so chapter to the story with not much to it, but still good enough. But the "House of Wayne" story is getting more exciting with each chapter. Finally, a backup story worth the extra dollar. This is how the Scarecrow should be.
While I'm looking forward to seeing more of the tower story develop, I'm really eager to see what the backup story has coming up next.
A very solid issue. The main story was involving and felt very Batfamily. I liked it. I wish we would of got this as a start instead of the way it’s been presented. The back up story has progressively gotten better after the garbage start. I really liked it. It alone by itself deserves a 10. Overall nice issue.
About the same as the previous issue. Nothing is inventive in the main story, it's just very solid. Which for Batman (or whatever you'd call this), is enough after the slog of Fear State. The backup should really be the main attraction here.
Decent first story but I really liked the backup here, it got interesting.
Mostly a solid issue but the whole Huntress being able to vision murders after that whole Vile nonsense did make me roll my eyes at the end.
Still interesting, but we're already in issue 3 and the pacing is just way too slow.
Detective Comics - 6.5/10, very disappointing
House of Wayne - 8/10
Too slow for the main story. On the other hand, intriguing backup story.
Sticking around for the train wreck. Really hope Dr. Ocean ends up being Billy Ocean. Y’know? Get out of my comics, get into my car.
