Justice League Unlimited #2 is a near-flawless entry from one of the most exciting creative teams working today. Waid also teases Air Raid is working covertly behind the scenes against the team. He hasn't yet revealed what his plot is yet, but with this creative team patience does get rewarded. This series is only two issues in but after Justice League Unlimited #2, it seems a lock to be one of my favorites for 2025. Read Full Review

This team is less a standard team than a collection of almost all the heroes in the DCU, and that's allowed him to bring in heroes who you would never think to add to the team. There are so many great plots here, including the ongoing mystery of Inferno and the lost powers. Read Full Review

Justice League Unlimited #2 is no doubt about it home run follow-up to its debut issue. Mark Waid and Dan Mora masterfully juggle multiple plotlines with a massive cast without any issue. Everything about this comic book feels like a reading a big event, exactly how the Justice League should be presented. Read Full Review

Justice League Unlimited #2 is another excellent issue that really progresses this story and shows us how dangerous these Parademons in particular are! This may not have been the Justice League book I wanted after so long. The characterization has occasional dips, and dedicating three pages to promoting an upcoming spinoff is questionable. And yet, I only think of those things after I have turned the final page, and when I pick it up again, these issues do not come to my mind. That is the mark of a good comic. Read Full Review

Justice League Unlimited #2 sees the Justice League investigate a series of kidnappings that lead them to a horde of hatchling parademons. This issue introduces new characters like Dr. Occult. It features exciting team-ups, such as Wonder Woman and Mary Marvel, alongside Martian Manhunter and Dr. Occult, as they rescue the hostages. The fast-paced narrative, character interactions, and dynamic art make this a thrilling chapter, despite a minor issue with Martian Manhunter's reaction at the end. Read Full Review

The subplot involving the mystery of Darkseid's heir continues to be intriguing, adding a layer of overarching narrative that connects  Justice League Unlimited #2 to the prior issue well. Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Dec 26, 2024

Justice League Unlimited #2delivers a tragic tale about an alien who makes the wrong choices at the wrong time. Mark Waid's script reads just like a classic JLU cartoon episode, complete with heavy action and emotional weight, and Dan Mora's art is top-notch. That said, Waid doesn't capitalize on the wow moments from the first issue, so the reading continuity is lacking.7.8/10 Read Full Review

Another stellar issue! Waid does a great job of seeding some new mysteries this issue while advancing some of the prior ones. I'm loving this new JLU premise in which both the primary characters as well as more background and tertiary characters can also thrive. They pack a lot in for the $3.99, and Mora's art is the icing on the storytelling cake!

this was another solid issue. I don't know how Mark Waid is juggling Action Comics, World's Finest, Batman and Robin World's Greatest Duo, and Justice League. But his back must hurt from carrying DC a lot. Solid character moments, action, art from Dan Mora was stellar, and pacing was solid

I dug this WAY more than Issue #1, which was more of a straight-forward JL adventure thru the eyes of a newbie. This issue keeps the fun but with some much-needed emotional interactions between JLU members. Waid's setting up some cool mysteries (particularly with J'onn) that we'll hopefully see payoff in the next couple issues. J'onn is an underrated and essential member of the JL, so I'm excited to see him (and his vulnerabilities - not just physical, but emotional) get the spotlight. I believe other mysteries such as with The Atoms will be addressed outside of the JLU series, but nonetheless, Waid balances levity and tragedy effectively, which he is known for throughout his bibliography.

A fun follow-up issue here, in my opinion. I'm fairly sure the pages with the Atoms and Atom Smasher are acting as a prelude to the upcoming Atom Project miniseries, though I don't really know how I feel about them being included here, seeing as how they didn't really have anything to do with the rest of the plot. Maybe I'll eat my words in the next issue. Aside from that, I enjoyed the main plot here, especially with the focus on J'onn. I'm hoping he gets his own series soon in the main universe with a good creative team. My only other "complaint," to to speak, is that the twist with Air Wave at the end of the last issue is only followed up very briefly here.

Dan Mora's art is always impeccable, and the Martian Manhunter plot is very good. But I was disappointed that two other plot points, with the Atoms and Mister Terrific, were just setting up other books.

So far, there is little here to distinguish this from Waid's other work with Mora, and way too many cast members. Maybe the stuff with J'Onn is a good starting point for something more.
