Helena's journey through time continues! Each new time period gives her one more piece of the puzzle, but is Degaton too far ahead in his quest to eradicate the JSA to be stopped? Is this truly the end of the Justice Society?
Justice Society Of America #4 is a feat of love and respect, but also a fantastic adventure that dips its toes into character insights for heroes and villains Read Full Review
Whether the JSA's able to trap the villain that threatens not only them individually but the team as a whole. Justice Society of America #4 moved us closer to this ending and left us with a jaw dropping moment. I look forward to seeing how this story arc ends. See you next time! Read Full Review
This has leaped to another can't miss DC title thanks to all the options at Johns and Janin's disposal and their willingness to go against expectations and tackle a fresh new take on the JSA. Read Full Review
The bulk of the issue seems to play out in the combat between Degaton and the JSA. Jann has been granted a great deal of real estate in the issue to deliver the impact of a single fight, and it REALLY works. Johns has a deft enough handle on the pacing to allow Jann the space he needs to hit that combat with impressive impact. All of the drama falls in line behind that combat quite well. Read Full Review
This comic has a large cast, and it keeps surprising us. Read Full Review
Justice Society of America #4 was a strong read filled with some rather dynamic twists, inspiring story beats, and thrilling action. However, with the extra long distance between issue to issue, fans will be better off reviewing the content from issue three before diving into this one. Read Full Review
The Justice Society of America #4 brings clarity to the chaos with an explanation of Degaton's plan that establishes the threat and stakes in a big way. The writing is technically solid, and the art is great, but the details of Degaton's plan don't quite pay off the build-up. Read Full Review
Another fantastic issue from the Justice Society of America creative team. Things are really starting to get complicated and I'm desperate to see where it goes next… Read Full Review
Justice Society of America #4 is a solid issue that moves things forward with an interesting discovery by Helena. The tease of the friendship to come between her and Power Girl is welcome as it promises what we know from the past will now come to pass in the future. Read Full Review
Degaton vs the JSA and Huntress is the wildcard! New mysteries arise to trouble our heroes, characters are explored, and just how powerful is Degaton? Huntress starts to explore more of the DC landscape and tempts fate with her interactions. Read Full Review
Not a lot happens to further an already sparse bigger picture narrative, even if the character writing and artwork remain very strong. Read Full Review
When you stretch 4 issues out into 12, there's bound to be some slow parts, and this issue proves it. The art is pretty fabulous, though. Read Full Review
I cannot tell who this book is for other than Geoff Johns. Read Full Review
It's competently conveyed and depicted with some flourishes of style, albeit alongside splashes and spreads that underwhelm, although none of that is terribly exciting. Read Full Review
Wow, this issue was incredible. Artwork was amazing, but Johns' writing really knocked it out of the park. It's such an interesting plot, especially for those who have read Doomsday Clock and Flashpoint: Beyond, but those series are far from required. There are few series on the market right now that can truly match this level of quality, World's Finest and Action Comics come to mind. I honestly couldn't ask for a better read, Geoff Johns is really trying hard to make this the best series of his career. And so far, he's achieving that goal.
First I will get out of the way the complaints I have:
1) Inconsistent release schedule. I wish this would come out more consistently for reading purposes. This was suppose to line up with StarGirl but now it is a bit misaligned.
2) There is a lot going on. This itself isnt a bad thing, I actually like all the plot points, but this puts a lot of pressure on Johns to pull this off. I hope he can do it.
Now onto all the great stuff:
1) Lots of great plot points, so there is likely something for everyone
2) The big fight this issue was great. Helen really showed that she is the daughter of batman with her leadership and deductive skills.
3) Dr. Fate moment was great.
4) Most stuff felt quite in charac more
Fun fast read. For a lot happening the story never slows down but it also has to many plot points so it doesn’t all jibe with itself. A tall order is in for this to pay off. Overall though I want to see what is next.
A little better, but the slow slow realese schedule really is not helping matters.
I'm a big fan of the JSA and love the series so far. Strong character development. Strong artwork. The only issue is that it's a quick read!
In all seriousness, I hope there will be no more delays with this series. I'm interested to see the Eclipso issue building up.
Scattered Thoughts:
-So Degaton made a deal with Mordru?
-Degaton's ritual is an attempt to replace the JSA with his own team.
-There is an older Degaton stuck in 1947? And they made a deal with Salem the Witch Girl against Doctor Fate?
-Beth and Yolanda have Eclipso's influence inside of them, and they're taking Lazarus Pills?
-Helena goes to Gotham and reveals herself to Batman, telling him she is his daughter and she's come to save him from dying.
-What is the disturbance in the speed force that jay senses? Related to his daughter Judy?
With the time hopping put aside, the story is a lot more coherent, but I don't really know how these characters align with the last JSA comics from before Flashpoint. What happened to the third Dr. Midnight? Just who is Power Girl now? I am a bit lost even if I like the story (and love the art).
I can't be bothered to be excited by or interested in this.

Where are the JSA in a series with their name? In this "new version" of Huntress Helena Wayne vs. Degaton story, Issue #4 in 7 months is still looking for an actual plot, and really very LITTLE actual JSA story here. The JSA are really bit players in a series with their organization's title. I hope that at some point Geoff Johns gets it together. But after shelling $$$ after $$$ in the vain hope that Flashpoint:Beyond would eventually make some sort of sense, and getting utterly disappointed, I now have the same expectations here. I want this story to be good, and I want to invest in a JSA series. But this is really continuing to be so over the map, it is starting to get pointless.
