Shazam versus S-H-A-Z-A-M! Billy Batson was given the powers of the gods by the Wizard Shazam--but Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury never gave the Wizard their permission. Displeased with how Billy is representing them, the disgruntled gods engage in a six-way fight for sole control of the World's Mightiest Mortal...or, if they get their way, the World's Mightiest Puppet. May the craftiest god win!
With the creative team, this felt like it had to be a lock for must-get every week status. It's still managing to surpass my expectations en route to being one of my most anticipated titles each month. Read Full Review

Shazam #2 is even better than the first issue. All of the plot threads and ideas of the previous chapter are continued and made greater the second time around. Read Full Review
Shazam #2 is a treat. Filled with fun action, powerful art, and a masterfully constructed mystery to keep you guessing without frustrating, Shazam #2 is a near-perfect blend of modern comic storytelling with a Silver Age twist you won't find anywhere else. Read Full Review
Dan Mora delivers some beautiful art on every page of the issue. I love the visual composition of the action and how Mora manages to capture the drama of a moment while also delivering gorgeous details and fun, lively imagery. Read Full Review
Overall, this series has a lot of potential, but I was hoping for a little more fun and a slightly lighter tone. Read Full Review
Fun, well-written and very well-drawn second issue of this new series. Does everything I'd expect a Shazam series to do, and it does it all well. Read Full Review
Though it feels shorter than it perhaps could've been, Waid and Mora challenge the Big Red Cheese like no one has as they continue setting up the ultimate struggle for the power of Shazam. Read Full Review
While Billy isn't aware of just what is really going on, Freddy does a little snooping on his own which allows him to blunder in on the truth and into trouble of his own perhaps laying a trail for Billy to ultimately discover the truth. The comic, in my favorite part, also features a follow-up to Captain Marvel's help of space-going dinosaurs when a dino-lawyer drops by with plenty of paperwork for the hero to deal with. Perfect from beginning to end. Charming, fun, exciting, it’s all that and a bag of chips!
One of the best books right now
A dinosaur with paper work how can it be bad. It’s not what fun. Mark Waid is the best love this book
This might be everything you want in a Shazam book for the second issue. Some stuff answered, other problems arise, Billy further loses control of his actions and you see the horrors of BUREAUCRATIC DINOSAURS! Oh the horror!
Its a great blend of of comedy and action. Something older individuals can enjoy but also something you can read to your kids. Art by Mora is amazing as always.
Strong recommend.
SICK
Another great issue. The humor, plot, writing, art, and coloring is fantastic. The next issue can’t come soon enough!!
Another quality Waid/Mora book. Forgive the pun but they are lightning.
And is the Atlas that appears Kirby’s Atlas??? Awesome!
Shazam is a delightful surprise and a breath of fresh air. Great art, action, and characters for Billy Batson. I got to say, I'm pretty hooked on to Shazam right now.
I enjoyed this one a bit more than the previous, which was mainly there to act as setup. Here, we see Billy reflecting on the end of the last issue and trying to make sense of it. I thought this was nicely done, as was the beginning with the space dinosaur. I liked seeing Psycho Pirate here, as he has a cool design and his abilities actually could have been a plausible explanation to what's happening with Billy. The story here was fun, and I liked the various hints of Billy being more villain-ish at times, only for us to find out what Psycho-Pirate had nothing to do with Billy's recent issues. Overall, I thought this was a good issue and I'm interested to see where things go with this story after Knight Terrors wraps up in August.
Again with the dinosaurs? Let it go already, Mark. The rest of the issue was good. I'd like to see more with the parents. They seem non-existant. The fight with Psycho Pirate was good, though he looked a little too much like Iron Man in a few panels. The mystery heats up until we get the epilogue. I didn't need the set up for Knight Terrors. That thing died a quick death.

It has a cute dinosaur in it.
