"THE BLACK BARN": Conclusion-Father Fred enters The Black Barn on a daring rescue attempt but nothing can prepare him for the horrors within. Meanwhile Norton and Angie delve deeper into Norton's past and zero in on the secrets of the Barn. A 2018 Eisner Award nominee for Best Writer, JEFF LEMIRE!
The first arc is a wrap, and it wrapped up with a nice little bow on top. The wait to finally enter the barn was worth the wait. There are other things going on in this issue besides Father Wilfred going through the barn, but it was the focal point of the issue. Dr. Xu and Norton make an appearance, but what they are doing has more to do with next arc because they are trying to rebuild the black barn. Clara believes her brother is still alive and will be searching for him. Lemire left a lot to explore for future issues and can't wait to take that journey in the upcoming issues. Read Full Review
Gideon Falls #6 is easily one of the best comics of the year. This is an experience like no other, delivering on not only a unique and mind-bending read, but an unsettling story that elevates everything that's come before. You'll want to go back and re-read the previous issues again after the startling revelation on the final page. Writer Jeff Lemire has jumped into the horror genre and made one helluva splash. Gideon Falls #6 is a mind-bending masterclass in visual storytelling. As expected, additional answers bring additional questions, this book's final page changes everything and adds an additional level of complexity to the story, and now, after having taken a brief look around the interior of the Black Barn, I am confident in saying that the best is yet to come. And let me reiterate once again, Sorrentino's artwork paired with Stewart's colors is one of the visually most stimulating and stressful experiences I have reading comics, and I absolutely adore the direction and general aesthetic. This recurring visual mechanic has done so much work over the last few months and still causes heart palpitations. It's wonderful. Read Full Review
This is assuredly one comic series that you don't want to miss. Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino remain a groundbreaking creative team! Not only is this incredible story but Gideon Falls is also in development as a TV series too! Read Full Review
Another wonderfully creepy issue of this tale and it can only get better from here. This issue is the end of the First part of the series and it is worth the read to get you ready for what's to come. Its dark and scary and full of story that keeps you on the edge of the page. Read Full Review
This is my favorite issue in the run with the tremendous work from the art team and the paneling. Read Full Review
A good closing point that leaves the reader feeling satisfied, but with a real hunger for further information in the autumn. Lemire has achieved great things on this book, but for me the credit goes just as much to Sorrentino and Stewart for their visually ambitious work. Read Full Review
Lemire and Sorrentino delivered a slow and steady but strong book with a lot to like and the pacing and buildup lead to this fantastic kind of surreal installment that has you ready to go back to the beginning to examine it in a new light. Read Full Review
What is the Black Barn? I don't know and am scared to find out, but I need to find out! The finale to the first arc of "Gideon Falls" is the right kind of finale that took audiences on a ride and leaves them hooked for more. Read Full Review
Gideon Falls continues to be nothing short of a breath-taking thriller and when you think it's about to go left, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino go right. Read Full Review
A disappointing close to the first story arc. Sorrentino delivers on the art as always, but the contents of the Black Barn were lackluster. Read Full Review
Sorrentino is just making this book come alive. The disorientation he creates with his page design is sublime.
And better.
This is edge of your seat stuff.
WOW! OMFG! THE LAST PAGE! THIS IS BRILLIANT!
Absolutely fantastic, as expected. Can't imagine a better artist for a story like this than Sorrentino. Trippy, creepy and compelling. I cannot wait for October to read what's next. If you haven't read this series yet, pick up a trade when it comes out and come back for issue 7.
Brilliant!
Definitely in the running for best issue so far. The art was fantastic and the story was very interesting.
This was an excellent issue. The best single issue of any comic I have read since…well since the last issue of Gideon Falls. This is my favorite current comic and my favorite comic of the year and this issue is no exception. It is effectively trippy and opens up even more mysteries for the series to solve in its second arc. The art is phenomenal in every way possible and the series ends its first story arc strongly while still keeping you excited for the next. The last panel is mysterious and opens a whole new realm of possibilities as to the answer to everything. My only problem with this issue is that it tells me the next won't come out until October. Ugh! That said, I appreciate Lemire and Sorrentino taking time to weave one of the gremore
Awesome! Creepy and trippy. Love this title.
