Madness spreads across Gideon Falls as Father Fred and Sheriff Miller race to stop a killer.
Writer Jeff Lemire paces Gideon Falls #5 perfectly. I was on edge the entire time, as the tension continues to rise with every turn of the page. Although we don't know a lot about the Black Barn just yet, the very thought of it is enough to send a shiver down your spine. Gideon Falls is one of the scariest comics on the stands today. It's not going to scare you with blood and gore. Instead, it seeps under your skin, staying with you for some time. Read Full Review
Lemire and Sorrentino both shine as storytellers in this issue. Lemire did a phenomenal job with pacing and giving us more information on who knows what in Gideon Falls. Read Full Review
As we near the end of the first arc, Gideon Falls reminds us that we are always grasping for an understanding in a chaotic world where senseless things happen. It reminds us of loneliness, of desperately wanting someone to understand what we are experiencing and the internalized dread we carry. Lemire and Sorrentino just decided to give it an actual form and name in the form of the Black Barn. My god, if all of this isn't making a horror fan out of me. Read Full Review

Another fantastic issue of this series. After 5 issues we have been told a lot, and we have a lot to find out. It has been a beautiful book to look at, and this book probably tops what we have seen before. The series goes from strength to strength and remains on the must buy list. 9/10 Read Full Review
The creative team behind Old Man Logan is going all out on a horror comic that is proving to be quite gripping. Issue #5 is leading us into the arc's finale and is just as great an issue as we have had so far in this series. Read Full Review
Gideon Falls #5 is a good set up for Issue #6. The feeling of dread from the Black Barn that you get from reading the issue is awesome, and I hope it transfers to the next issue and frightens us some more. Read Full Review
The next issue brings us to that point where it's basically the first compiled work of a series and I find myself viewing that issue as the make or break one for me if I continue in single form. I like the artwork a lot and there's intriguing elements to the whole thing but it hasn't really captivated me. This issue brings us closer to some form of revelation but I'm wary as to whether Lemire can stick the landing in it to really bring me back for another run. I'll grab trades going forward at that point as I think this'll be a series that will read better in that form to begin with. Read Full Review
In Gideon Falls, it seems for every question answered, two or three new questions arise and therein lies the beautiful story Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino have been able to weave through nearly half a dozen issues. Read Full Review

Gideon Falls #5 ramps up the tension while the pacing remains slow. Thats not inherently bad, but the narrative is starting to drag a little. The main saving graces are the mystery of the Black Barn, the characters, and how creepy it all feels. I can still recommend this comic despite the slowness. Feel free to check it out. Keeps getting better.
I absolutely love this series, even with the somewhat slow pacing you get so much great character development and amazing cliffhangers. Tough to wait on this monthly. Lemire/Sorrentino are gold together.
Phenomenal. Just…phenomenal. One of the best single issues I have read…well, ever. This is a perfect issue. The art is by far the best of the series, with amazing, amazing penciling and coloring. This is the first issue of the series in a while where I felt like I will remember it long, long after I've read it. Most of the others just did what they were supposed to, progressing the story further and deepening the suspense, not really doing anything to stand out, but this issue. From the really creepy background art to the trippy hypnotism session (which was one of my favorite scenes I have read in any comic ever) this issue does everything to stand out, but it still does everything the other issues did, progressing the story, and definimore
Oh man! The book continues to absolutely KILL IT! Another incredible issue.
What the hell, man... Is there a better book out on the stands these days? I honestly doubt it.
Probably one of if not the best issues.
A lot of twists I didn’t see coming love it.
