Marooned across the cosmos! The Surfer will have to risk everything, to beat back the void that threatens to swallow the galaxy whole... including his very soul!

You think they can't top themselves and guess what? They got out and top themselves. Like the rest of you, I had hardly had time to pick my jaw up off the floor after the debut issue last month and just a few short weeks later, Cates and Moore upend the status quo all over. Read Full Review
While there might be a few aspects of this story that were not explained, that might come later, the art makes this one of the most beautiful books that has graced the shelves in 2019. Read Full Review
Look, I can see why some people may not like this Silver Surfer: Black five-issue mini-series. The past two issues have been all sorts of moroseness and gloom. It is not super happy or joyful, but that's kind of what I like about it. I like that we are getting into the Silver Surfer's head and dealing with his inner “demons”. I can also see why some people may not like the art. It is far, far from the norm, but again, this funkiness fits right in with this story and just brings a little light to the doom and gloom, balancing it out. Silver Surfer: Black #2 also adds a nice wrinkle to the story that has me interested to see what happens next. Read Full Review
Silver Surfer: Black #2 is a great cosmic adventure comic that can astonish both old and new 'Surfer fans. Donny Cates excels at his storytelling and Tradd Moore, with Dave Stewart, absolutely crush it in the art department. Add this book to your pull list ASAP. Read Full Review
Donny Cates and company bring their "A" in this great issue of self reflection by the Surfer as he deals with not only the Knull, but the symbiote as well. Read Full Review
While Donny Cates' profile has been steadily on the rise for the last couple of years, I think it may be reaching a new peak with Silver Surfer: Black. In teaming with Moore and Stewart, two artists well acquainted with weirder runs, Cates seems to have found the best synthesis of his theatrical voice and expansive scope. We still have three more issues to see if I'm fully right, but after Silver Surfer: Black #2, I am pretty confident I am. Read Full Review
A beautiful and wild cosmic adventure that perfectly balances the opposite traits of the two lead characters. Read Full Review
As we saw in the first issue, further use of the power cosmic continues to effect our hero. By the end of the second issue, the Sivler Sufer's arm is completely enveloped in the black. How can he defeat Knull, and escape, without succumbing to the darkness slowly enveloping him? For fans. Read Full Review
Prelude:
Cates has knocked the first issue of Silver Surfer: Black right out of the park. Now that the set up is done, how does he fare with the main story.
The Good:
Right off the bat, Moore's art impresses me again. It's just too darn great.
Still loving the ties to Venom.
Ego! Also, side note Moore's art for Ego is absolutely wonderful.
This inner turmoil is really interesting.
Plus I really like the running theme of light and dark that Cates is playing with.
The Bad:
Nothing.
Conclusion:
Cates somehow improves upon the last issue with this one.
Fucking great.
-"i have seen such wondrously horrible things"
-Silver surfer and ego are well-drawn
-Love the build up to ego
The Surfer escapes from Knull with help from an unexpected ally. Usually when a writer and artist share "storytelling" credit, I roll my eyes and break out the blowjob pantomime. But this series delivers a true creative symbiosis; words and art are equally sublime. This is something special, something great, and if I rate it less than perfect, it's only because the creators have inspired tremendous confidence in even greater spectacles to come.
Wow this art is so amazing, and I really enjoy the writing.
Like I said for #1: Cates gets the Surfer.
Absolutely great! Cates delivers a better second issue than i thought he would. Tradd Moore just kills it every time! Stewart's colors are just splendid!!
Awesome, Cates really gets the cosmic characters and universe, and it's giving me serious vibes reminiscent of the Abnett and Lanning cosmic run. As everyone knows, the art is just amazing, throwback to some of the best silver age art. Just spectacular all around
I came for the art. I stayed for the story. This is possibly the most beautiful comic being published at the moment. Tradd Moore and Dave Stewart are at the top of their game: this is a partnership that should be joined up and used more often by Marvel. Donny Cates' script is also superb, with Silver Surfer's monologue being the pre-eminent feature, and also the highlight. Perhaps the only thing holding this issue back from a perfect score is the fact that the story doesn't move on all that much.
Would get a 10 if it wasn't for the art. Too childish and cartoony for my likes. But this was good all around story wise.
But why does Knull look like a Kiss band member?
Its pretty damn good. Its just really well written and the art just is really trippy while remaining enjoyable to look at.
Its good but not as good as the reviews it’s been getting. Cates is the king of the cool last page reveal
