Also, I wouldn’t read this digitally. This art is meant to be taken as a whole, staring at every page and absorbing every little detail.
• The final stand against Knull!
• The Surfer's severely depleted of his Power Cosmic, will desperate lengths force him to use his secret weapon and unleash a new horror upon the galaxy?
• Trust us, you won't want to miss this epic conclusion!

The story is truly touching and you can feel the heart put in it. The art is, visually, just something to be amazed at. It all works sequentially as a visual story as well. The art isn't just crazy to be crazy, but it serves a purpose and helps tell the story. The story also helps build the character of Norrin Radd and brings the Silver Surfer in a new direction. This comic is filled with imagery that goes beyond the stunning art and terrific colours. This is light versus dark. Birth, death and rebirth. There is a poetry in Cates’ writing on show here. The artwork augments this and raises it above just a comic book. This isn’t just a comic. This is Art. And in case you worry this takes away from the comic it doesn’t. This is a comic that NEEDS to be read. And Donny? I think Stan would be proud of this comic. Read Full Review
Silver Surfer Black #5 is an appropriately poignant ending wrapped in a well-written and poetic prose. On top of being masterfully drawn by a Master-class art team, it's also incredibly wild and fun. This is undoubtedly one of the best comics being published right now. Do yourself a favor and pick up the trade, it's more than worth it. Read Full Review
Cates, Moore, and Stewart tell a poignant and enriching story about overcoming the darkness within yourself and becoming stronger for it. Read Full Review
As the issue came to its conclusion, I was left a bit surprised. There is a definite ending, something we don't get in some comics, but not the ending I was expecting at all. I'll be very very curious to see what role the Surfer plays in the upcoming months! Read Full Review
absolute masterpiece.
-Opening pages are tense and feel like they are leading to something no one will come back from the same
-Holy shit the panel design and art of the final battle is insanely creative
-Ending dialogue is filled with so much triumphant euphoria
-Stellar comic
Prelude:
It's the final issue of Silver Surfer: Black and Cates and Moore have a lot to deliver. Part of the journey is the end and it is here.
The Good:
Right off the bat, Tradd Moore's art is out of this world. Absolutely amazing work.
That callback was amazing.
Beautiful theme and message in this series and this issue ties that all together.
Knull was the perfect villain for the Silver Surfer for this series.
Great, I'm tearing up and I don't even know why.
The Bad:
I will admit, the story can be a bit confusing at points but I don't think it's too major of a problem.
Conclusion:
A brilliant end to Silver Surfer: Black and one that will impac more
So much is to be said about this short yet game-changing story, but I'll keep it short, too. First off, Donny Cates was a steal for Marvel, and it shows when he goes 100% into whatever he's writing. This is a prime example, as it ties in to his biggest contributions to Marvel history from his runs of Venom and Thanos (and probably Thor too when he writes that), but the addition of Tradd Moore on art (while Geoff Shaw and Ryan Stegman are great too) makes all the difference here with his eccentric and uniquely mesmerizing visuals. This truly is a trip of a story that anyone can get sucked into pretty quickly, and although Surfer fans always want more Surfer, this might be the one that actually gets us more Surfer in a way we've deserved for more
This is what happens when you mix perfect writing with perfect art!
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
THIS BOOK MOVED ME TO TEARS.
phenomenal! this whole run has been phenomenal!!! thank you Donny cates and tradd moore!
Not sure whats going on most of the time but that's probably because the gorgeous art keeps distracting me from what I'm supposed to reading. The art alone is enough to get a 10 from me.
SERIES WAS WONDERFUL,AMAZING COMIC . MUST HAVE FOR COLLECTION .
Perfect. An unforgettable experience of a comic book. A tribute to Stan Lee. This is artistry at the highest level. These guys have such a deep understanding of the Silver Surfer and I don’t know how they did it but they made the best Silver Surfer comic I have EVER read and probably one of my favorite books ever. This is a final showdown between light and dark that no comic book fan should miss.
This was so good, man.
Genuinely fantastic, one of the finest comic issues, with the finest art, I've seen all year. 10 for you.
I'm going shy of perfect in rating this because the poetic words didn't move me the way the author hoped. But that's probably a fault in me rather than the comic; this is a *damned* impressive story on every front.
What a fantastic book. Kudos to Cates and Moore for creating this marvellous psychedelic story.
What a powerful ending, really good.
Its just wild and while I gelt a little confused at some points it was very emotional and trippy comic that was an enjoyable read.
Outstanding!
Art is insane and colorful. I just don’t see the hype behind the story itself. Don’t get me wrong, Silver Surfer: Black is a great series, I’ve given the whole series either 8 or 8.5, but it’s just not worth all the hype it gets
