VENOM #13 changes Eddie's status quo in an exciting way. However, the poorly-paced plotting serves as a detriment for the issue, holding back its full potential as a superb issue. Iban Coello's character designs are top notch. Read Full Review
A good tie-in if you're looking for violence, horror undertones, and a Venom that's all about killing. It's classic Venom built for war. Read Full Review
Really solid outing that does make me want to dive into the rest of War of the Realms. Read Full Review
Final ThoughtsCoello and Bunn deliver their first chapter of a three part War of the Realms companion story that cranks up the pace of the ongoing, but leaves the most recent life-changing reveals and new questions Cates dropped on readers untouched. You'll have to wait until Cates returns if you're hoping for more in the way of the status quo his last arc left Eddie in, and its anyone's guess just how deep this three parter will weigh-in on the core event Jason Aaron has unleashed unto Midgar, but with what Bunn and Coello gave us, it was visually refreshing seeing Eddie do what he hasn't in so long…be Venom (well…a mock “Asgard” Venom…) Read Full Review
While this is a departure from the incredible run this series has had so far, it's far from an unwelcome one. Venom isn't dead center in War of the Realms, but he wouldn't fit in there anyway. This shows just how far and wide this is reaching that even someone like this can get caught up in it. This is a horror take on this big event, showing us some truly terrifying monsters while keeping the scariest one of them all right in the middle with a long tongue lashing out in a sinister grin. Venom #13 kicks off a tie-in story that looks dangerously by-the-numbers in terms of plot. It's enhanced with formidable art, though, and the script makes full use of its opportunities to examine Eddie's character. This makes the reading rewarding and shields the story - for now - from being dismissed as skippable. Read Full Review
Bunn takes the reins on this one and does a hell of a lot better than he ever has with Venom. The witches have a great design and the art in this issue doesn't feel like a second stringer coming up to bat. Coello handles the task of arist wonderfully and I am glad he will be taking on this arc in its entirety. Transitions smoothly for a Tie-In Issue. Dialogue on the Main Witch and her decision making felt haste but other than that this was a promising start.
Actually feels like it belongs in the Venom run, nice.
Cullen Bunn didn't ruin Venom. Hooray. This was a good issue. A nice tie-in that doesn't forget everything that came before, and actually builds on it.
Okay, this was pretty good. I feared that Bunn would make Venom worse after Cates, but he still writes this well and this crossover doesn't feel so forced. Interested to see what happens next.
And yes, Coello's art is still great.
This tie-in feels natural, and does not require any knowledge of what's happening in the main event book to understand what's going on here. Bunn writes a pretty good Eddie Brock, and Coello's artwork shines here. Not bad at all.
It's good. Bunn does his job and gets Venom going or should I say holding while we wait for Carnage. Coello is just well suited for this book and venom. Good fun read but we're on hold for this event which is annoying.
This tie actually didnt feel so much like a tie in but I mean that in a good way. The art was pretty solid and Bunn bidnt bore me to death so I consider it a win.
Quite unexpectedly. Cullen bunn style is instantly recognizable
I don't like Cullen Bunn.
