Really didn't enjoy the "man should know when he's beaten" dialogue exchange from Cyclops and Storm. Felt racist in the most literal way. Add to that the extended tour through Scott's new Brady-Bunch-On-The-Moon house where Jean's only dialogue was about getting dinner ready. Creepy, disturbing, wrong.
DAWN OF X!
The X-Men find themselves in a whole new world of possibility... and things have never been better! Jonathan Hickman (HOUSE OF X, POWERS OF X, SECRET WARS) and superstar artist Leinil Yu (NEW AVENGERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA) reveal the saga of Cyclops and his hand-picked squad of mutant powerhouses!
Rated T+
This is the THIRD issue of this type in this run. It was lazy every single time. The way you properly set up a twist like that is that you foreshadow it. You leave connections and clues. You don't just think it up, not bake it into the background of the story, and then at the end go "Aha! I'm so smart!" I don't understand how anyone could read this and think it's good. And, by the way, I called itmore
It's time for the big showdown. Batman is calling Bane out. But is the Dark Knight Detective ready to take on the foe who broke him worse than any other that came before? And what else stands in Batman's way, to put an obstacle between him and his enemy? Tread lightly, Batman, because not only do the lives of your son and trusted friends hang in th...
I've suffered this year. And I found this issue particularly poignant. King writes intelligently and astutely, but maybe a superhero comic isn't the best place for it. Some people just want to see the Joker get punched in the face.
What happened to the boy who wanted to be Bruce Wayne? The young criminal mastermind orchestrates his own parents' deaths to emulate his hero and was carted off to Arkham when Batman exposed his crimes, but that is not the end of the story. Tom King reteams with Nightwing artist Travis Moore to create a sequel to their masterpiece of dark horror fr...
I absolutely loved this. Batman losing weeks (maybe months) and millions of dollars worth of bat-tech hunting the man who shot his kid. What's not to like?
The Dark Knight's looking to drop both the hammer and sickle on the KGBeast, whose rampage across Gotham City takes a toll on Nightwing when he's injured in the fray. Blaming himself for his ward's fate, Batman gets grimmer than usual-and vows to take the Russian assassin down like the Berlin Wall. Is even Gotham City ready for that much violence? ...
Perfect little comic. Portrays mental health issues I've dealt with really well.
Caroline Sharp has been a lot of things, including both a superhero and a super-spy. But now, with those days behind her and her powers proving unreliable, Caroline finds herself stuck in a life weighed down by her depression and an inability to change. You see, Caroline is going to live forever, and there is no escape to be had. The very act of li...

Confusing and aimless. Beyond the basic premise that rips off 1999'S Unreal Tournament I have no idea what the hell is going on.
Points for Esad Ribic's art alone.
With fresh augments and new sponsors, Satta Flynn is ready for his big comeback fight. But while war never changes, fame is a fickle mistress. Can Satta reclaim the spotlight?
The art's great and all, but the plot is obvious. It'll turn out the pills did nothing and Joker is as nuts/maybe-not-nuts as ever. He'll run for mayor, win, and then just as all seems lost he'll whisper to Batman that he poisoned Alfred, setting all this in motion. And Batman will record that and be vindicated.
In a world where Batman has gone too far, The Joker must save Gotham City.
He's been called a maniac, a killer and the "Clown Prince of Crime" but "white knight"? Never. Until now...
Set in a world where the Joker is cured of his insanity and homicidal tendencies, The Joker, now known as "Jack," sets about trying to right his wrongs. First ...
A mess of Deus ex machina and Snyder's patented exposition dumps. This was awful. Personally I'm sticking with Tom King on the main Batman book rather than read any more of this.
"MY OWN WORST ENEMY" conclusion! Batman, Duke and Two-Face square off in a fight for Harvey Dent's soul. With assassins flooding in from across the countryside, Batman learns that even his most trusted allies might choose evil over good.
The most action-packed issue yet. I love this series.
"IMMORTAL COIL" Part Four
Rahtraq faces off against his own possessed corpse. Should he save it-or destroy it?
Has the potential to be Remender's Saga. His magnum opus if he can avoid familiar ground.
The God of Whispers has spread an omnipresent paranoia to every corner of the kingdom of Zhal; his spies hide in every hall spreading mistrust and fear. Adam Osidis, a dying knight from a disgraced house, must choose between joining a hopeless band of magic users in their desperate bid to free their world of the evil God, or accepting his promise t...
SERIES PREMIERE
It is 1220 AD, and the gears of the Albigensian Crusade grind on. When an alien mining-craft infested with a horde of bloodthirsty predators crash-lands in the remote wilderness of the French Pyrenees, a small band of crusaders and a Cathar heretic are all that stand between God's Kingdom and Hell on Earth.
Batman seriously makes a "-- called and it wants it's -- back" joke. Coupled with JRjr's horrendous depiction of Killer Croc makes this the last issue of All Star I'll read.
"My Own Worst Enemy" part 2! All aboard the train ride from hell! Batman and Two-Face continue their journey to Harvey Dent's cure through an assassin-infested landscape. But can the Dark Knight continue his crusade across the countryside when Two Face turns one of his greatest allies against him?
While Coates' plot is still unlike anything else in superhero comics (and brilliant for it) I found the change in artist jarring. Chris Sprouse isn't on the same level as Brian Stelfreeze was and it's a shame that recalls Declan Shalvey's departure from Moon Knight not so long ago.
"A SWORD FOR LIONS" STARTS NOW!
• Ta-Nehisi Coates is joined by guest artist and modern master Chris Sprouse for the second arc chronicling the final days of the kingdom of Wakanda!
• As Zenzi and The People poison the citizens of Wakanda against the Black Panther, a cabal of nation-breakers is assembled...
I absolutely loved this. A rich world of details and dark delights for us to gradually delve into. Protagonist Detective Dumas is immensely likable despite very little time in the spotlight. And at 54 pages who could argue the value for money? Waiting eagerly for the next issue.

In this sci-fi/horror saga, Corinne White attempts to reconcile with the ghosts of her violent past, literally, as she trudges through a world of dystopian cityscapes, reanimated corpses, & ganglands full of animal human hybrids.
It's 1987. Marcus Lopez hates school. His grades suck. He has no money. The jocks are hassling his friends. He can't focus in class, thanks to his mind constantly drifting to the stunning girl in the front row and the Dag Nasty show he has tickets to. The Isles of Los Angeles 2089: Humanity is addicted to technology, a population of unemployed leisure seekers blissfully distracted from toxic contamination, who borrow, steal, and kill to buy their next digital fix. Getting a virtual buzz is the only thing left to live for. It's the biggest industry, the only industry, the drug everyone needs, and...
I really didn't enjoy this book. I've long since had my fill of Snyder's writing style in which every story has someone monologuing about what they symbolise or what Gotham symbolises. This trope continues here with Two Face waxing lyrical about being a dark mirror or some such.
Try something different once in a while is all I'm saying.
A note on Romita Jr's art: the time he more
"My Own Worst Enemy" part one! Superstar writer Scott Snyder explodes into an all-new Batman series alongside legendary artist John Romita Jr., reimagining some of the Dark Knight's greatest villains. First up: Two-Face! Batman must take Two-Face to a destination out of Gotham City, but the duplicitous villain has a two of spades up his sleeve. Eve...
I see your point, but given how the other mutants talk about humanity in general, this sentiment isn't reserved just for evil men and women. There's a lot of cult mentality in how the mutants are acting. I think it's written in such a way to make you uncertain. I could see more lines being crossed as this X-Men status quo plays out that may make it clearer.
I can see that. I’m definitely excited to see what happens next. Good convo. You guys have a good one.
