What makes Unstoppable Doom Patrol #1 so entertaining is you don't even need a deep knowledge of the franchise to enjoy it. This is definitely a great opener for the team's newest iteration. The essence of the past series can be felt here, while it also strives to break new ground in the "Dawn of the DC." Read Full Review

Unstoppable Doom Patrol #1 channels the attitude of the team within its pages. From first glance, it is clear that there is a big story to be told that balances both the past and the future. Graphic Policy - Logan Dalton Mar 29, 2023

Unstoppable Doom Patrol #1 has loads of nods to past Doom Patrol stories, but Culver and Burnham find new wrinkles especially in their take on Jane/The Chief and how the team interacts with more mainline superheroes although I was totally substituting Lazarus Planet with Invasion! in the page where that's mentioned. All in all, the book features a quirky cast of characters rescuing societal outcasts and saving the day, but in an offbeat way with Burnham flexing his horror muscles in a PG-13 way and still providing a lot of big action and bright colors courtesy of Brian Reber and shows it's okay to get weird sometimes and express big emotions. Unstoppable Doom Patrol #1 brings the eclectic band of misfits back to the spotlight with a new mission, new team members, and the hint of new enemies waiting to pounce. The story is weird, gross, and crass, but that's exactly what you want from a Doom Patrol comic. Read Full Review

Overall, the series is a fun read, especially for new and old Doom Patrol fans. The inclusion of new members opens the story up to explore new areas and ideas. The story that Culver and Burnham are cultivating is off to a great start, and their work complements each other nicely. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge Apr 5, 2023

The opening issue covers a lot of the basics of the concept but I'm not sure how many of those concepts will last more than a couple of issues, at that, as things get weirder. It's definitely an interesting angle to approach with and to find a lane to play in after the Lazarus story that I did not read. We also get a subplot with the Brain and Mallah as they're going after Immortus for things but that's less clear about what it's about at the moment and just more of the standard weirdness of these characters. I'm intrigued, however. With some solid artwork that I'm excited to see how it shapes things as we get more time with the cast and more weirdness, it's all got a lot of potential. Read Full Review

Robotman "Since I cant die, I will go talk to him, oh I just need the new kid."
New Kid "Me? But I can totally die!"
    Robotman: "Yeah Yeah"

Ohh Doom Patrol, never change. Please never lose your pettiness and dysfunction.

Its a great first read, lots of action. Seeing the start of a clear plot. Give it a go.

This was so much fun, can't wait to be on the rest of this ride. Wish it was a full ongoing, hopefully it sells well enough to warrant a good number of issues.

Man, people ride Morrison dick so hard (tho they deserve it). But giving UDP#1 a lower score than to similar books because it was just a decent book with great art, seem stupid to me. What did you expect from Dennis Culver? A transformative piece of literature that would redefine comics. That man wrote Future State Gotham. I am just glad that DP is back and its fun to read, this team can be many things as it was for many years.

This was fun! I went into this book with extremely low expectations, given the writer's history on Future State: Gotham, which I was lukewarm about, and came out enjoying it. I don't think it's a perfect read, but it's a fun one nonetheless. Of course, this is only judging by the first issue, but I'm cautiously anticipating the next issue.

It's great to see the Doom Patrol back, even if it is only for 6 or 7 issues. I enjoyed this opening issue although the Brain & Monsieur Mallah subplot felt a bit random. I didn't realize Crazy Jane is now the Chief, but I haven't read Doom Patrol since Morrison's run many years ago.

Overall an enjoyable opening to the mini series with some nice art by Chris Burnham.

I don't mind a more traditional Doom Patrol. I'd take that over something like what Gerard Way tried to do, where it's all the chaotic weirdness of Morrison, with none of the depth, storytelling or character to back it up. If we keep going down that road, Doom Patrol will become Harley Quinn. No one wants that. But this book is just kind of boring, and the new ideas don't seem to justify the run so far. It's only issue one though, maybe it'll get better.

Not a bad first issue, never really heard of Doom Patrol and thought I'd give it a try. The thought was worth it, but felt like there could've been more.

I kinda liked this but it doesn't feel like the doom patrol. The art is a fantastic choice for this series in my opinion but the idea of one of crazy janes alters as chief is....questionable. Batman is written pitifully here and the new members of the DP are....again questionable. All this amounts to what I think will be like the run of DP before grant Morrison took over and that's not what I really wanted with this series. I'll give it a few more issues before decide if it's worth it or not.

This sort of generic, meaningless superhero action would be a little dull for regular superheroes; reducing the Doom Patrol to standard-issue preprocessed Content™ is practically criminal. Nice art, though.

This is a good comic book, if you really like ugly comics art. I am a life-long 20th century Doom Patrol fans. So I pre-ordered this. Hmmm. Will I continue? I don't know. I am on the fence. It was OK. After building up the DP IP for years of television shows, you would think DC Comics would want to make more of an effort to get/keep new readers. What I didn't like: (a) Everything is ORANGE now, (b) Chris Burnham using a Creepshow-style art, (c) Crazy Jane as Chief, (d) connection to the Lazarus nonsense (which is probably why they are in Gotham City - other than Batman cameo), (e) Larry's Negative "Spirit," (f) things I don't want to know (at this point, I don't really WANT to know what happened to Mento and Niles - which is a shame bec more
