A page-turner of epic proportions. Every panel of Wonder Woman #5 is pure bliss to withhold. King's story is upping the emotional stakes this month, ramping up audience anxieties for a full blown war. Read Full Review
This is probably the best issue of the series and one of the best issues of Tom King's career, and it's all about one thingbuilding armies Read Full Review
Wonder Woman #5 brings everyone else to the party. Wonder Woman wants to deal with everything on her own, but this chapter shows who can help her, as well as the main reason why. It could be considered slow, but the action has been replaced with some fantastic pieces of character development and storytelling. Read Full Review
This already awesome series takes and issue to expand its cast of heroes and villains, setting the stage for even bigger adventures to come. Read Full Review
Tension builds in Wonder Woman #5 as a war is coming and armies are forming. Getting to see classic Wonder Woman villains with perfect introductions of each is a nice change of pace while raising the stakes tenfold. Read Full Review
His new lineup for his own Villainy Inc. has some very questionable choices, especially with Grail and Circe. I cant see them joining some pretender to defeat Diana, unless that was the plot all along. A New God/Amazon hibrid, and an immortal sorceress plucked from myth has to have something bigger and deeper up their sleeves, otherwise whats the point of who they are? Time will tell, and if the pace is any indication of how long that will be, could be a very long time. Read Full Review
Sampere delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the wonderfully detailed characters and how visually immersive and compelling the imagery is on every page. Read Full Review
Wonder Woman #5 solidifies the fact reading this series on a monthly comic book basis is not the best way to experience Tom King's run. As fantastic as Daniel Sampere and Belen Ortega's run is, the pace of King's Wonder Woman story is best experienced in a collected format. The core concept of Diana interacting with Donna Troy, Cassandra Sandsmark, and Yara Flor is a good one. But a concept is only as good as the execution of the idea and Wonder Woman #5 just didn't hit the mark. Read Full Review
Wonder Woman #5 delivers a setup issue where the Sovereign and Wonder Woman assemble their allies for the coming war. Although it's a setup issue, the plot does feel like it's moving forward, and Daniel Sampere's art is amazing. That said, the pacing is horrendous, and King got the voices of each of the Wonder Girls wrong. Read Full Review
The only real redemptive quality of this issueand the seriesis Sampere's incredible art. That is museum quality work. Read Full Review
Loved this issue. Damn.
Fantastic issue once again. This is a great comic. Badass intro to the villains as well as Dianas allies.

There are some who would suggest little happens in thsi issue but its a brilliant example of character work done right.
It doesn't matter that Cassie Sandsmark; Donna Troy and Yara Florbhave already been well established. This issue, like this series, treats us the reader as if we are fairly new to this Wonder Woman character and establishes the characters personalities and their roles very well, and why they are going to be siding with Diana in this battle, and what they are going to offer.
Its kinda brilliant. It also reflects Diana's character and her relationship with each of them. She views Yara as an equal. She views Cassie as a niece. She views Donna as a sister. And she doesn't want to see them get hurt, to the more
probably my favorite issue of the series. Tom King's exposition is a bit heavy, but I like it. And of course, Daniel Sampere's art is killing it
I liked the different challenges for Diana here, but I also felt as though the plot didn't progress a whole lot because of the larger focus on said challenges. It's also starting to bother me that there's so much narration from the Sovereign in each issue. That said, the backup was fun, as usual, but it also wasn't my favorite one.
While the plot moves at a snail’s pace, the character work and the round-up of the villains makes for a fun chapter, along with the amazing art. The back-up continues to be a fun romp as well with Gen-S meshing well together.
I honestly don't have much to say about this one. Not much happens and the ending really frustrated me. I'm all for subverting expectations but this issue really felt like a slog, so to have it end that way really makes that slog even more frustrating to have gone through. I don't think anyone was too out of character, aside from Yara. I've read literally every issue she's ever appeared in and her characterization here seems very off. It's way too stereotypical of the young blood archetype. But you know, King does a lot of work in stereotypes. This issue also continues the myopic trajectory of the arc, which remains frustrating because Wonder Woman still isn't really a fully fleshed out character in her own book.
The backup as al more
The artwork remains to be great. The story, however, leaves a great deal to be desired. We probably have another 7 issues until we get a new story arc. Amazons even being in the US en mass, makes little to no sense. Every relationship that they have touched on between Amazons and Americans have been lesbian ones. So they are not here for men and they can have lesbian relationships on Paradise Island. Then Steel sends an army at Wonder Woman, who is there to be a liaison. Why isn't she finding the murderer and bringing her to justice? Instead, she prepares for an all-out war against America. This is just a crap story that just keeps going and going. Let's end it already.

Beautiful artwork, plot builds up steady. Characterization shines through for Wonder Woman and the other Wonder Girls this issue, but the dialogue was not good.
This was by far the best issue of King's WW so far. While I dont think the Wonder Girls were written the best in character, and honestly this issue is rather boring, a couple of parts made me chuckle. Yara (a cool character that DC has trashed) saying F-U you WW got a solid laugh out of me. Nice to see she has a team because apparently they are smarter than her and realized she would be destroyed on her own. Also Donna is awesome. King at least got her more right than wrong. All in all, ok at best but really nothing special and a waste of art.
On the topic of special, man is the art great to look at. Honestly this art is what keeps me in this (and the back-ups). Kings story overall is quite weak and embarrassing but Sampere... t more
