Same Thoughts, Dude. I also don't find any spark here in Beyond. I feel it is just gonna be pointless filler between Spencer run and LGY 895-900 arc which I think would be some big arc. If not this issue, I would have dropped the book. But this issue is making me reconsider.

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings
Dec 20, 2021Amazing Spider-Man #82 is a perfectly constructed standalone issue, veering into horror territory as Saladin Ahmed and Jorge Fornes put Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson into a horror movie. The next issue sees the return of Patrick Gleason to the title, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does-especially considering how great this issue was. Read Full Review

Dec 26, 2021Amazing Spider-Man #82 is an example of how you maximize the page count you are given for a comic book to tell one complete story. There is a deep investment a strong investment that Saladin Ahmed and Jorge Fornes are able to create with this mystery story. This is easily my favorite comic book issue of the Spider-Man Beyond direction thus far. Read Full Review

Dec 20, 2021A great issue!! Does everything a good comic should and then some. The creative team goes above and beyond the call of duty and it shows. A real page turner, due to both story AND art. Read Full Review

Dec 22, 2021Fornes brilliantly delivers dark mystery with the visuals in the issue. The style is perfect for this type of story and I loved the use of shadow throughout the issue. Read Full Review

Dec 20, 2021The Amazing Spider-Man #82 is an example of how much control pace, color, and layout design have over the story. Forns and Brown have crafted something that's visually stunning in its dread and unease, well worth a read for seasoned comics fans. Ahmed has also given us a story that shows how Peter Parker, and those he loves, are true heroes to their very core. Read Full Review

Dec 18, 2021I am truly on the fence with this book. There are bits I like and there are bits that don't quite work. For regular buyers of Amazing Spider-Man, there is a sense of logic in letting readers see the steps of Peter's recovery al long with hints and teases featuring Colleen and Misty to help move the Beyond storyline along. Weird Science Marvel Comics - Weird Science Jim
Dec 20, 2021Amazing Spider-Man #82 is more of a one-shot horror story than anything else. That might be okay any other time, but not when Marvel is making fans buy double (or more) the usual amount of issues a month. The art fits the story, but I can't recommend it until I see that this connects to the overall Beyond story. Read Full Review

A very effective little horror story, and what a cover! Art Adams has been doing some of the best work of his career on these covers

Maybe it's because it is a Peter-centric issue, maybe it's because MJ gets to be a badass, something I always prefer instead of damsels in distress. But I really liked this one. It was short and simple, but it wasn't... draining the way past done-in-ones with Ben have been. I doubt this stuff will come back into play later, aside from the Lizard stuff, but I had a good time reading this one. Maybe it should've been a .BEY issue, however. Or not, it's really hard to know what is essential with this run and not.

Damn, wasn't expecting this to be a "horror" issue. Loved it, Fornes is amazing, loved the voice Ahmed gave to Peter and MJ, nothing happened related to Beyond itself, but i'm more invested in Peter story anyway, so ill just wait.

It's great. Feels very disconnected from the Ben's Beyond storyline, but otherwise I really liked this. This whole Beyond storyline is very odd for me. It's been mostly fine, some times excellent, but for me, it hasn't found that spark yet. I was very negative on the finale of Spencer's run. I haven't brought up Spencer after it ended, because it's hard to compare his run to this. They are so different. But I must say, when Spencer's run was good, it was so good. I was excited to read the next installment everytime the new one came. It had that big spark. It failed to deliver in the end, but in my mind, it was overall pretty good. This Beyond storyline doesn't give me same feelings. As I said, it's fine, but I want more than " more

I have no idea what I read or how it pertains to the overall plot but it was actually pretty cool. Made me think of Black Mirror. Fornes is an amazing artist. If Ahmed doesn't normally do horror I would be interested in seeing more from him it just feels out of place but not unentertaining.

Finally an issue worth it. Art was really good. Well complemented with Story which is kinda horror esque.

The Beyond arc continues its troubling trend of bouncing from digression to digression; it seems like this giant team of creators would rather do anything other than advance the main story. That being said, this is a formidable one-shot that (in my case) easily managed to wipe out any disappointment about the main plot being on hold. The art shift was startling at first, but I soon realized this style is nigh-perfect for the creepy story being told. The villain is only strong enough to carry a single issue, but he's fantastically and memorably written. Plus, I'm always a big fan of MJ saving the day, particularly when it's done this organically.

What the hell just happened? A horror take in Spider-Man Beyond? I liked the issue, but it's an incredibly fast read and I now understand why they're getting released every week. Also, the Daughters of the Dragon are back... And it makes me happy!

It's not bad at all. Ahmed's horror take on ASM is cool and Fornes art is great with nice moody colors from Brown! BUT this was a very short read that felt like a tie-in more than the .BEY issues. Weird setup up for the beyond story and wasted effort in my opinion.

Pretty simple story but the art elevates it a lot, it worked to Fornes' strengths.

After the great success of the film, it is a good time to build this story that has been like a roller coaster of ups and downs in terms of quality. Spider is the coolest superhero, he is cool, funny, with incredible acrobatics and the first hero to demonstrate his humanity, it would be a shame if they do not take advantage of the success that Sony left them. Happy Holidays, Christmas, Saturnalia or whatever you celebrate.

I'm torn in this book. In no way is it necessarily bad, it just doesn't do anything to the overall story and seems out of place. It looked great though and was a pretty good read for what it was.

I liked the horror vibe but this story just came out of nowhere from anything previously established for this hospital being sinister. Hopefully there's some follow up to explain further.

This series was chugging along until last issue. Last issue and this issue sucked. Jorge Fornes shouldn't be doing fill-in issues at this point in his career. He deserves better.

It's decent but too basic and bare bones of a story for my personal taste. I hope the next issue goes back to the high level this book was at before. It's not that it's necessarily bad or anything I just like a little more to my stories. I hope others enjoyed it a little more than I did.

This was just incredibly ridiculous I mean i'd be okay with it if it was all some sort of dream sequence, but a random demon eating people who happens to work in the hospital Peters in?

Totally ludicrous premise. Even for a comic book. Patients don't check in at the front desk? They don't provide insurance info? When there's a change of shifts, the other doctors don't notice? Loved ones don't complain to anyone except the orderly? He seems to have a voracious appetite, so you'd think someone would notice something. Totally dumb - again, even for a comic.
