In the world of comics and graphic novels, it is not unusual to see works of an autobiographical nature. Telling the stories of famous individuals who have profoundly put their mark on history. But this is the first time I can genuinely say I've picked an OGN about a person still alive. Not only alive, but still active in their chosen profession. If you are a fan of Tarantino and his work, this will be a delightful read and one that is worth diving back into again and again.

For over 130 years, the world has been thrilled by the exploits of Arthur Conan Doyle's most incredible creation, Sherlock Holmes. Throughout the years, devoted readers of these beautiful mysteries and the various spin-off stories and adaptations have been treated to new and innovative ways to continually bring Holmes and Watson back into the public eye and fixed firm in the hearts of all who love these two fine fellows. What the creative team for this volume has done is pool the unique talents and produce an original, engaging, and brilliant story that is on par with the original works of Conan Doyle himself. In the end, anyone who is a dedicated fan of Sherlock will want to add this volume to their collections, and the same can be said for comic book fans.

Andrea Ciponte's retelling of the White Rose is exactly the sort of graphic novel that is needed in the modern age. Amidst political strife, social injustice, and economic toil, stories like this not only can give new generations of activists heroes to emulate, but also gives readers and history a window into the past for them to look through, see, and learn from. Let this book not only be a new addition to anyone's bookshelf, let it also embolden and empower all who want to make a difference in the world for future generations.

For those who have been fans of the pairing of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips over the years, 'Pulp' is another in the line of examples as to why these two work well together. Ed's story paired up with Sean's artwork is a powerful thing to stir up imagination. A warning though, if you do pick up this book and the art and colors are not there halfway through the story, do not let that detract from the terrific, engaging and exciting story. There's a lot to unpack in the world of Max Winters and it is worth reading all the way to the end.

Jazz is one of the most enduring and powerful forms of music to spring up in the last two centuries. It has survived changing tastes, cultural upheavals, and given the world a vast array of unforgettable artists and songs. Charlie "Bird" Parker was one of the greats. His sound and style helped change the genre, and the impact of that sound touched the lives of everyone who met him. This graphic novel is one hearty and deep look at the man, the music, and the people he met in L.A. A must read for any hep cats or funny-book fans.

As it is with any comic, the second issue is just as important as the first, the third, and so on. Like the second act in a play or movie, the second issue adds depth to what was established at the start. Garth and the gang do a fine job of just that. Even though there are still questions to be answered and mysteries to be uncovered, they are worth it knowing that Garth, Russ, Tony, Simon, and 'The Boys' are there right for the ride.

Together, this team gave readers and John Carpenter fans one heck of a series. Worthy of being turned into a movie, whatever comes next for the John Carpenter title and this team, it will be nothing less than great.

A story that does not tie into the overall plot of Savage Dragon, this story has a serious political edge to it. It is almost a direct response to things happening throughout the world, but put within the context of a superhero comic. Readers will no doubt find this delightful, others may be upset by it, but all should remember, it's only a comic book and should be treated as such, a story. Its a darn fine story, but its still just a story.

In short, it is a riveting adventure that will be a fun series for fans of Tommasos works, and fans of spy comics and TinTin too. There is one issue within these pages, that of the character of Angora. Speaking secondly as a fan of history, this is a fabulous concept! The mystery of what happened to Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan in 1937 is still one of the great unsolved stories of history. A comic that has her showing up on another world, getting into what is clearly going to be Flash Gordon-style adventures, well its just about the best kind of story anyone could ask for. Whatever happens moving forward with this series, theres no doubt it will be spectacular!
