Absolute Green Arrow #1 is the perfect example of what an Absolute book can be. This book’s preorders hit over a million dollars and three hundred thousand copies on vibes alone and it honestly deserves every penny of that money. It seems like every new Absolute book becomes my favorite, but this one feels like it’s going to be one of the ones that will always be at the top of my list. I live for comics like this, a perfectly told story that says as much about the real world as it does its fictional universe. Read Full Review

Absolute Green Arrow 1 sets the stage for what initially is being marketed as a six-issue limited series. After reading this first installment this creative team already shows there’s far too much potential with this version of Star City to be told in just six issues. This could mark the start of the next great Absolute Universe ongoing series. Read Full Review

It’s another stunning homerun hit far out of the park for the Absolute DC Universe, as ‘Absolute Green Arrow’ #1 brings a whole new dimension to the table. Comic Crusaders - Al Mega

    May 20, 2026

Absolute Green Arrow #1 is a nasty, stylish, high-voltage debut that makes the Absolute line feel dangerous in all the right ways. Pichetshote brings a sharp, socially aware script with emotional weight, Albuquerque delivers gorgeous nightmare-noir energy, Maiolo paints the whole thing like a city rotting under emergency lights, and Powell keeps the chaos readable and punchy. This is Green Arrow reimagined as a murder mystery, a revenge nightmare, a corporate horror story, and a character study for Dinah Lance all at once. It is not clean. It is not cute. It is not here to give billionaires a safe space. And thank the comic book gods for that. Read Full Review

Absolute Green Arrow is a confident debut that makes a damning point. Pichetshote’s tale of revenge against wealthy elites reflects our modern times, while Albuquerque’s reimagining of the title character as a brutal killer is enhanced by Maiolo’s demonic colors. Dinah’s numbness to the modern world makes her an instantly relatable protagonist. By the end of the book you still don’t know who to root for. Read Full Review

This is absolutely fantastic. Pun intended.

A scathing indictment of corporate America and the greed of the rich.

The Absolute universe holding a mirror up to America and what a hideous reflection that looks back.

The courage to challenge norms makes Oliver and Dinah, empathetic and relatable, though not without faults. Men and Women of the people, functioning to support the masses. Oliver being a rare example of a rich person actually trying to improve society, rather than use it for their own greed. In times such as these, even seeing such empathy in our world is tantamount to acts of super heroism. That's sad as a more compassionate society is what we should be.

Seeing the villains fall in the context more

I am going to be honest as I'm seriously not a Green Arrow fan. I mostly enjoyed the TV series but as for the comics, we'll not so much. So like a lot of comic readers I find myself buying into the Absolute fan based hype. The problem with hype in an ever expanding market is it's either crap or ok at best. That leads to readers buying it to be part of the experience and probably again for the worst. Then comes Absolute Green Arrow and I just get it. Hook , line and sinker. Violence, tragedy, and above all else a seriously great start to what Detective Comics should be. Oh did I also say the art was stunning at times and the costume is a fan boys dream....... awesome..JM

Everything is absolutely (no pun intended) perfect here: Rafael Albuquerque is on top of his game. The art is moody and stylish. The colors complement the art perfectly. The premise is just fantastic. I like “infidel” fine and loved “the good Asian”, but here PICHETSHOTE shines on a whole different level. I also love how connected the absolute universe is. Hector Hammond is a big part of this story and I bet other billionaires villains will show up. Can’t recommend enough.

didn't have high expectations, and it blew me away. I do like how we do not know who the identity of this new Green Arrow is, but I can not wait to see the slow burn and how Dinah Lance differs from Main Dinah Lance. I also love the art here as it is very violent and dynamic

Pretty strong first issue here. I had high hopes for this series after seeing the cover, hearing about the tone of the book, and seeing some of the previews. While I did like this a lot, it wasn't really as "slasher horror" as I thought it would be. A lot of this focuses on Dinah and what's going on in her life at this point in time, as well as diving into her history with Ollie. It's all written well, but this felt like more of a drama that featured horror elements whenever the Longbow Killer was present. That said, I really liked this. Albuquerque's art fits the book pretty well, in my opinion, and I'm, especially, glad to see him being involved with the universe after what happened with Absolute Superman. All of that said, I'm really loo more

For a first Absolute issue, I’d rank this somewhere around the first issues of Absolute GL or Absolute Flash, but beneath the debuts of the other four. It has a very compelling mystery, a very gripping and violent prelude, a very interesting lead character, and some interesting little twists….plus a whole lotta exposition. I’m not familiar with Pornsak’s other work but I definitely enjoyed Rafael Albuquerque’s stylish artwork, which at times is haunting and visceral. His style is a much better fit for this book than it was recently on Superman Unlimited, and is the best part of this book.

The politics expressed in the book don’t really bother me one way or the other. It helps set up the interesting premise, and it’s in keeping with more

Not sure how I feel about this. Overall I'm pretty positive but I found Dinah's perspective shifts a little fast for my liking after a heavily telegraphed Big Drama Scene Where Billionaire Reveals How Low He Will Stoop. I think it's a little too focused on explaining the setup to give her the space she needs to shine as a character. Still though, it's an intriguing start and I'm deffo interested to see where it goes.
