Batman/Superman: Worlds Finest #23 is a visual feast for readers and easily one of the best books on shelves today. Waid has treated the series like a love letter to Batman and Superman and shows that a love for the characters and their history informs great stories. The same can be said about the art. Mora and Bonvillain are an absolute dream team and putting out work that feels like what all superhero comics should strive for. Read Full Review

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #23 Dan Mora and Tamra Bonvillain unleash their Jack Kirby-inspired fever dreams in stunning action pieces, and Mark Waid keeps it altogether with some heartfelt moments between Batman, Superman, and the former Boy Thunder. This remains one of the best comics on the market. People should be reading it. It is old school comic entertainment, respectful to the characters. Read Full Review
This comic is absolutely worth it for the art and the great writing for Superman and especially Batman. Unfortunately, Gog and David feel underdeveloped, and so the core conflict leaves something to be desired. That still doesn't stop me from recommending this comic, though. Even with its flaws, it's incredibly fun. Read Full Review
Basically a perfect issue. This might be the best storyline of the series so far, and that's saying a lot, especially considering how phenomenal the previous 22 issues were.
It’s stunning to me that DC didn’t make this story, a full-blown Kingdom Come prequel event, into its own giant stand-alone DC crossover limited-series prestige format event! It would sell even better than within this book’s pages. It could’ve tied into numerous other titles very organically with cool side stories. DC has also totally failed to properly market this event in any kind of grand scope or scale.
This is some of Waid’s (and Mora’s) very best storytelling ever spanning his amazing career over the last 30 years. Savor every bit of this issue, for there’s only one chapter left, and I CANNOT WAIT!
Can't wait for the conclusion.
This is a massive blood, drag-em-out brawl that you don't see very often in comics anymore. The big boss fight before the final boss fight. This is going to read so well in a trade. Wild fun is to be had in this issue. First and Philosophies fly with characters written well and in-character. What more could you ask for?
Epic action and storytelling, but a small gripe I have is everyone looking exactly like they do in Kingdom Come. I assumed Batman’s suit in Kingdom Come looked the way it did because his neck was broken, but it just looks the same way here. Earth-22 feels like it’s full of characters who don’t have any agency of their own. Would they have never thrown off Gog’s influence without Earth-0’s intervention?
I feel comfortable voicing this criticism because the book is so good, though. Waid and Mora are so stellar that I’m nitpicking rather than criticizing glaring issues.
My only complaint here is that the other heroes turned very quickly. In one issue they were arresting Batman and Superman while in the next, they were fighting alongside them. The final splash page was a good twist and I'm looking forward to seeing how this wraps up.

Generally well done, but sort of low energy. Two qualms: we've really moved away from the biblical origins of Gog and Magog's names, and I don't see how this story leads to the actual Kingdom Come story. Good as this might be, I feel no reason that have revisited Kingdom Come yet again.
