Sep 17, 2025It seems like the most involved stories in this crossover don't seem to hold up very well. The rest of it is okay to quite good, but the core is still weak. I personally think that the format is very odd. Why not one-shots centring on team-ups rather than making the interesting stories back-ups in a non-interesting story's book? All in all, if you like the sound of any of these, I encourage you to go and read them. It's a cool event, and you should make the most of it. I just hope the next issue has a more solid foundation. It missed the fun of the opportunity of it all, which the back-up stories seem to have gotten. If anything, it could have been a greater success focusing on a series of shorts, forgoing a main story and instead just let creators cut loose with what they've had. I'ma just judge this on its cover story, which is has surprisingly tight writing. A Deadpool comic is only as good as his jokes and these ones are great.

This issue is ultimately a ton of fun with some interesting combos and great art. The dialogue hits art. It has my favorite marvel and my favorite dc character share panel space, which i never pictured happening. Its a celebration of these two comic book juggernauts.

The main story is actually really funny, it's been a while since a comic has made me laugh like this one did. I think Wells nails the characterization of everyone involved, but it is a Deadpool story so things are wacky. I assume the Morrison Batman/Deadpool will be more Batman centric, but I guess we'll see in November. Cap & Wonder Woman should've been longer. I also think the art was too rushed, which took away from the emotional impact of the story. Jeff & Krypto is exactly what you'd expect. Very cute, light reading. Daredevil & Green Arrow is a bit weak, but what do you expect from Kevin Smith? There are some cool moments where the red and green aesthetic is played with nicely. Rocket & GL is funny but short. I was actually surprised by this. Everyone knows that I hated Zeb Wells Spider-Man run, and I had low hopes. But surprisingly the main story was good. I dont think people understand, but it is so surreal seeing Deadpool AND Joker standing next to each other. It just blows my mind on how monumental this is. And I have to give credit, but Zeb Wells writing here actually didn't offend me at all. It was good, and I liked the back up stories. So overall, aside from the coloring I did like this issue. I will give out credit to Zeb Wells, he proved me wrong. He can put out good stories, so I got to acknowledge this.

I would say this book is a balancing act. There are some stories I like, some I don't. But overall it's a nice, fun crossover, just what I expected. Main story was just okay. Great art, okay writing. I have no complains. I wasn't expecting anything big, so I got what I wanted. Wonder Woman/Captain America was the highlight. Amazing stuff. Krypto/Jeff was really cute. I liked it. Daredevil/Green Arrow was... Eh. I just don't care how Smith writes his stories. Green Lantern/Guardians story was funny. Just a nice short crossover I wanted from this. The less we talk about Miller's work, the better. Final "story" is just a good way to end this. Amalgam universe coming back reborn would be nice tho.

Another example that Zeb Wells is not funny. I thought we would have all learned this during the She-Hulk Disney Plus show. The plot made no sense. Why would Batman allow his capture when he could have been unmasked. The ploy about Batman wanting Deadpool to be obsessed with him and the Deadpool walking right into the narrative on his own was eye-rolling. The back-up stories were not really note-worthy. The Rocket/GL one was funny, but didn't make any sense since you can't just give someone a ring. 55 pages of lackluster writing. Why did they use all Marvel writers? This is going to be as honest of a review as I can possibly get. Art: First thing you will notice is that the art is quite nice in the initial pages of the comic. The variant covers are all quite amazing. However this is mismatched with the quality of the story. Story/Dialogue: The dialogue is a banter between a playful deadpool and a stern and serious Batman. The story, after the first few pages, became increasingly rushed until the main climax of the story is rushed through and abruptly ended. It is at this point that you should quickly realize that the ENTIRE appeal of the comic (nothing more, according to the writers, based off of what they DIDN'T do with the story) is that dead pool annoys Batman. Very disappointing. Best part was the different covers. The main story had some funny dialogue but pretty shaky plotting and uncharacteristically weak Capullo art compared to his previous Batman work. The other stories weren't great, either, with the Wonder Woman/Cap story faring ok (but confusing in spots), the Green Arrow/DD story had some nice art, the Krypto story was a nothing-burger, the Frank Miller story with Bats and Logan was lame. I hope the DC book is better.

I'm sorry ... but Deadpool / Batman was a huge letdown ... maybe I'm just not the right audience for Deadpool, as I found the dull and unfunny dialog a chore to read. The story is tired and uninspired. The rest of the stories were hit and miss - but none are really memorable. You would think with such a high profile book it would be so much better. There is a lot of great talent in this book ... I feel no one brought their a-game.

What a good idea to waste some talented artists for a quick cash grab !!!! Did I say talents ? Maybe that's pushing it in the case of Frank Miller whom I would call aa formerly talented artist. His Batman vs Wolverine might be the worst thing I've read in a while. Good parts ? Well I guess the Krypto vs Jeff was cute, Adam Kubert did a good job on Green Arrow vs DD and The Rocket Racoon/ GL story was fun, thanks to Al Ewing. But really nothing to recommend wholeheartedly.
