Bandini delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. There is awesome action to be found and both the fights and character moments are brilliantly rendered. Read Full Review
Another good issue in an excellent run on Thor, it’s nice that the pace is slowed down a little and readers get the opportunity to really understand what Thor is going through, before the next challenge is thrown at him. It feels like seeds that were sown early on in this run, and in other Cates’ series, are finally beginning to sprout. It’s an exciting time to be a Thor, and Marvel, fan under Cates excellent creative skills. The guest artist does a great job of capturing a side of Thor that readers rarely get to see and the combat looks great. Read Full Review
Have you ever had a sandwich on super thick, French bread with barely any meat? Well, THOR #16 gives readers an amazing opening and a killer ending which encompasses about 5 total pages. The rest of the story is just thinly sliced deli ham between the hefty bread on the outside. Nothing happens this week nor does the story develop or provide readers with answers or direction. This issue is a bunch of pleasant conversations with a nice little fight scene. Nothing amazing, just a fine continuation of the story. Read Full Review
Thor fans won't be disappointed, but it certainly won't be an issue worth running back to any time soon. Read Full Review
Not quite as good as the rest of the issues in this run thus far, but this was still pretty fun. The bit where Thor ordered four hot dogs with a bunch of toppings was fun. This kind of felt like a filler issue the middle of 15 and 17, but not bad whatsoever. The highlight of this book for me was probably Thor's conversation with Jane, as it just felt honest and heartfelt. Despite a slight dip in quality, this series remains great.
Thor's midlife crisis continues, with a nice meet-up (and heroic team-up) with Jane Foster before Thor's called into a family reunion. As with the previous issue, this one's a bit breezy and fast. It's better-paced, though, making the most of its few scenes. I hadn't previously thought of Donny Cates as a master of the comedy beat panel, but there are some stellar examples here. The art's improved from last time, too. A big part of it is the colorist laying in some additional texture, which works great with the lines. Michele Bandini's also pretty damn great at design work. He presents some cool new outfits and a spiffy one-shot monster, all of which look great.
This isn't the best issue, but it's good for what it is. This seems like it'll be like Hammerfall, a prelude to the next big arc.
A bit of an oddball, in-between-arcs issue. I must say that I laughed out loud at the hotdog part, that was genuinely funny. However, I could also see the argument that it is out of character, despite the plausible explanation.
Okayish issue.
Art was good. Story felt bit off. Let's see where it goes.
Solid issue with great art by Michele Bandini. I especially liked the Berserk vibe from the last page.
In an earlier Beta Ray Bill issue, we learn Odin's been spending his time brewing beer, now we see what Freyja's been up to.
The readers complaining about the smaller arcs feeling like filler will probably just see this issue as a teaser for next months issue though, and the readers who are burnt out from Mjolner drama might not like this one either. I myself am still a little disappointed with how Odin is being written in this series, but I'm still looking forward to the arc finale next month.
I mean it's fine, the artist was a cool choice, I like what I see here. But Cates now this issue is a bit empty, maybe a two-part would have been enough like on the first "filler arc"
Its nit horrible but its was pretty weak for this series. Not much gets done but, there are some cool looking pages and, a cool Thanos part.
Not bad, not great. I'm sick to death of the drama with Thor's hammer. He's worthy, he's not worthy. Everyone can pick it up. Just destroy Mjolnir and be done with it or make it so only he can use it again. Cates said "don't worry, the hammer story is different and interesting", but it's not.
For a monthly book that sometimes even skips a month (or two) this should be better, Cates isn't really trying, I thought he was a Thor fan.
I like Cates but man does he have this amazing super power of starting a comic series/run off SUPER STRONG and it ALWAYS fizzles out. I hope he gets it together.
Cates is uninspired on this run; I dont know why people are not saying this but: It sucks. Dropped from my pull list.
You cant rest on your laurels forever Donny.
