My problem with Tynion's Batman, aside from the retread of previous stories, is the fact that it breaks one of the first rules of storytelling ALL THE TIME. SHOW, don't TELL. What do I mean by this? Bruce constantly and consistently mentions how "the city is changing" and not once do we actually see that. How nice would it have been to have a scene or two of Batman swinging somberly over the city, more

Batman #101

By: James Tynion IV, Guillem March
Released: Oct 21, 2020

A new day dawns in Gotham and the horrors of “The Joker War” are just being realized. A bold new direction for Batman begins as Bruce Wayne’s circumstances are forever changed. How did the Joker’s rampage affected the citizens of the city? And why does Cole Cash-a.k.a.-Grifter, now work for Lucius Fox?!

Exactly!!! I feel like some of the ideas here are interesting, but sadly, the presentation is far less exiting. This way I have the feeling that nothing happened in this issue.

Personally speaking, I expect more from DC's premier title.
It's better than issues #50-#85, which were dreadful but the story is mediocre in nearly every way possible.
I had a lingering feeling before "Joker War" that it wouldn't come close to Snyder's stuff, and this is proving me right every step of the way.
It also feels like Batman isn't the main character in his own book. >
Only reason this isn't getting a 4 is because of the art, which is fantastic as usual from Jimenez. more

Boo-hoo, Tom King is sad about the Iraq War. Cry me a river and go do some creator owned shit instead of ruining another beloved silver age character and his mythos.

Heres a word of advice, maybe when your criticizing a book you should actually talk about the book itself.

Pff, Alan Moore hates anything that is Watchmen related, whether its done by DC or not. He hated the movies, he hated the TV show, he hated Before Watchmen and Doomsday Clock. At this point, who the fuck cares what he thinks. As much as a talented writer Moore is, people has got to let this shit go.

DC needs to stop double-shipping for the sake of quality and delivering a sense of commitment to readers.
This particular issue suffers from a recurring problem throughout Tynion's time on the title- A lot of hype with minimal substance and logic behind it.
