You're right that at times it didn't put him in a good light but compared to how DC is just giving up on him lately because he's another white guy they want to get rid of, this was the best thing happening to him since Rebirth ended.
IT’S ALL BEEN BUILDING TO THIS-past and present and future all collide here in the final issue of this monumental series. Everything connects back to J’onn’s death, Batman’s final decision, and Superman’s regret-it all has been leading to this final confrontation with Darkseid. Who lives (some do!)? Who dies (some do!)? It all culminates in a bombastic finale from which the Justice League will emerge eternally changed.
Justice League Last Ride was everything great about seeing the world's greatest superheroes in action together. There's zero reason not to keep this creative team rolling on the next installment. Read Full Review
Justice League: Last Ride #7 was an fantastic conclusion to an awesome Justice League story. This is the kind of story I wish we were getting in the League's regular series. DC should keep Zdarksy in mind for the job when Bendis eventually moves on from writing Justice League. But until then, I'd love to see a sequel project starring the Justice League Universal. Justice League: Last Ride #7 is a blockbuster finale to one of the most epic DC Comics series in years. The balance within this comic is stunning, managing to fit in so much content. There is emotional weight to the dialogue, with incredible speeches and snappy punchlines. But there is also a heavy-metal storyline spanning a galaxy. The storytelling at play here is incredible. For a battle to have been ongoing for close to four issues and to still maintain interest shows fantastic skill by both the writer and the art team. When it ends, the reader feels content but exhausted. Read Full Review
It's one of the best Justice League stories I've read in a long time. And that's large in part to the fact that it's not trying to tie into a larger narrative or reinvent the universe. It's just its own thing. Read Full Review
The writing on all the core members of the League is fantastic and makes me think Zdarsky could easily take over the main title of any of them if he wanted to. He's only done a few DC books, but he's quickly showing the same skill at deft characterization he did on Spider-Man and Daredevil. It ends on a neat note that doesn't require any sequels, but I would still love to see more stories in this universe as the League rebuilds itself. Read Full Review
A Fantastic story, with an ending I wasn't expecting. Wonderfully written, to the point of bringing a tear to my eye, and consistently being drawn to perfection. Posters, t-shirts, and memes will be jumping off the pages of this book in no time. This was a fantastic Justice League story. If you can go back and buy the issues do so, if not, definitely check this one out when it's released as a collected edition. It truly was a pleasure to read and review. Read Full Review
Mendonca does phenomenal work with the art in this issue. There are great action moments throughout and the detailed characters look amazing on the page. Read Full Review
One of the League commits cold-blooded murder, but overall it's a pretty impressive end to a story, taking the big swings and pulling it off more often than not. Read Full Review
Justice League: Last Ride ends with a thud, but at least it was a bombastic one. While the story began with the League struggling with personal issues, it ended in a flurry of punches, explosions, and chest pumping action. While there is nothing inherently wrong with a bit of popcorn movie action, too much went unexplained to stick the landing. Read Full Review
It's wholesome and nice enough, but if you've already read this story there's no need to read it again. Read Full Review
Look, I wish I could praise this issue! I wanted this to be good. But I just don't like this comic. I hate using this word, and I don't mean any offense, but this finale feels lazy to me. Heroes win too easily; Darkseid is criminally underused; the story concludes much too fast; and all the conflict between the heroes is kind of just swept under the rug rather than actually resolved. After seven months of following this series, I just feel let down, and so I can't recommend this issue or this series. Read Full Review
What a great ending - this book has been everything that the main JL book should be. Sad to see it end. There were great moments for each member of the League to shine. Best DC superhero book I've read in months.
What a incredible book, every single issue is super fun and well written, crazy ideas with a terrific execution, one of the best Justice League stories in years
Just an epic end to this series overall. Cool ass ending
One of the best JL stories I’ve read in a long time
One of the best series DC Comics has made in recent years. Great art, plot, action, and best of all: it has heart.
This was pretty damn good. Story was super well paced, the two parallel stories are very well divided throughout the series. Not rushing or dragging, engaging mistery and it made sense to me. A bit of convinient decisions (looking at you Darkseid), but overall I believed it. It felt harsh and complex on a emotional level while keeping the plot simple, and that's not easy. Zdarksy should take on more miniseries like this on DC universe.
My biggest complain were the covers, I believe it's rare when I end up enjoying more the inside art. The covers feel generic, gritty but very cold (apart from #3 which I believe is what I would like to see on the others). So, really proud of my countryman Miguel Mendoça on getting the right tone f more
A very nice ending, if a bit expected.
Solid conclusion to what really should have been an arc on the main Justice League title. DC, I really hope you have the nerve to let Bendis go and do his own thing at Dark Horse and put an actually qualified writer on the Justice League title.
Chip continues to prove he is one of the best. Unlike current pathetic state of JL, The Least Ride gave us a ride.
One of the best series by DC in a long time
I definitely would have rated this lower under normal circumstances because the book in itself has a lot of flaws. Darkseid is such a bore and Chip's voice for him is just lackluster, all the other villains didn't make any difference in the story etc. But there's a lack of good JL stories lately and Hal has been treated like shit in the last years by DC, so Chip gets extra points for making good on those two fronts.
Not really much of a "last ride" after all...kind of disappointing, to be honest.
Feels rushed unfortunately. I would still say this was a great JL story regardless.
A fine but also disappointing ending to a rather fun ride. The story lacks what I think would've been a big finish or a more impactful story. This issue has more personal impact for the team but the story starts off as being a huge thing for most of earth & the "United Planets Assembly." And I wish we were able to see more of their thoughts on everything that's happening. Killowag & Jessica Cruz don't show up after issue 2, the members of the league, who make guest appearances in #1, aren't there. Basically for a story that's implies the "last ride" for the OG members of the team, & spans the universe to some degree, this feels uneventful & lackluster. Yes it's a more personal story, which is fine, But I would prefer an ending that had an imore
Chip Zdarsky is one of the best current writers at DC & Marvel but this whole series was just very mediocre and felt like a typical digital only fan service story. At least it's lightyears better than the current Bendis Justice League run which is just unreadable.
I honestly don't get what Zdarsky was going for with this series. The tone shifted drastically by the final few issues, and going by the cover numbering, I was led to believe this would be an ongoing, and not a 7 issue mini/maxi series. So I thought there would be more of a drawn out, each member of the JLA eats it until maybe Superman remains standing or something to that effect, but instead we actually gain back one member.
The ending here is definitely a clanger instead of a banger. All the interesting setup we got in the early few issues seems to have been forgotten and forgiven here, as all the characters end up acting like it's the end of a Star Trek episode. I'm just left scratching my head at what I just read, and how it more
I got all hyped up for nothing. Nothing meaningful about this one
