Power Girl #1 is an energetic beginning. There have been glimpses at the setup of Omen and Power Girl through one-shots and tie-ins to events, but now there is the chance for this creative team to flourish. Read Full Review
Power Girl #1 sets up an entirely new status quo for the alternate reality cousin of Superman. This new status quo promises to be a fresh start for this character, with this serving as a great jumping on point. Read Full Review
Williams extends certain aspects of Power Girls personality that make her who she is. The inadvertent damage is a recurring theme that makes Power Girl seem relatable. Her desire to go beyond the physical confines of superheroism to try to deal with problems on a more holistic level is one that never really had the opportunity to be nearly as prominent as it should have been in the past. Hopefully, Williams can look into that a bit more closely. Williams writing in the first issue suggests a willingness to explore the title characters semi-disheveled single-girl lifestyle, which should be fun in future issues as well. Read Full Review
While the action is okay, there are a lot of interesting things around the fringes of this issue. Read Full Review

I have a lot of affection for this character over the decades and am always glad to see a new series for her. Leah Williams covers a lot of ground in this opener and that's a packed and familiar thing so I'm more curious as to what the next few issues will be like. I want to see this virus storyline and where it can unfold but I mostly just want to see more time with Paige and Omen together and throw in some fun with Streaky as well. It's a solidly launched title that does everything it needs to and hints at what it can be if it gets the time to do so, so I'm hopeful we'll get there. Read Full Review
By and large, Williams does a remarkable job with the beginning of this ongoing, the first "Power Girl ongoing title since the end of its predecessor in the wake of the 2011 New 52 reboot. Read Full Review

Power Girl #1, surprisingly, is not bad. With a new alter ego and a new purpose in civilian life, Power Girl #1 is a solid mix of personality, action, and intrigue. Mix a good script from Williams with an excellent art team, and you get a decent comic. Read Full Review
Power Girl #1 is a good start to the series but has room for improvement. Amalaks a good nemesis for Power Girl but I was never sure what his power set was and the fight between them is over way too quickly. Power Girl also needs to have a personality thats more than just a template. Still, Im looking forward to next issue after this issues great cliffhanger ending. Read Full Review
The creatives deliver a slightly mixed yet very fun first outing that showcases both a love for the character as well as a clear desire to push her to new heights within the Superfamily. Read Full Review
There's nothing wrong or bad about Power Girl #1. It's just the comic doesn't stand out. It has its moments. It has entertaining moments. But it lacks really memorable moments. As an introduction to the character, it works, but overall, it feels like back-up stories released as a first issue instead of a big splash to hook the reader. Hopefully, the second issue gives us a bit more, and what's hinted at has potential, but not sure you'd miss much by skipping this issue and starting with that one. Read Full Review
Power Girls new series doesnt do the best job at showcasing her character strengths essentially taking a blank slate approach to a longtime fan favorite that might not prove sustainable long-term. Read Full Review
Was this a terrible issue. No. Was it a good issue. I can't go there either. I feel like DC and Williams are still looking for their footing with Power Girl. What type of book is this going to be. Who is she? I'll give them a little more time to figure it out. Read Full Review
If you're a fan of Power Girl, I suggest you don't buy this or read it, it'll just make you upset. Read Full Review
