All hail the fellowship of the sword, or gun (if you are Skurge) this is nuttier than a squirrels testicles. If 2021 is getting you down pick up this series and you'll get your groove back. This tops issue #1 so 5 stars all around. Read Full Review
There's not a single page of this comic that is above note and so all I have left to say is: Do not sleep on Beta Ray Bill. Fun, furious, and fraught in equal measures, this comic book packs the power of Stormbreaker in every page; it simply cannot be missed. Read Full Review
He may be the best creator to work on this character since Walter Simonson. And that is really saying something. Read Full Review
I cannot feel that anyone can be disappointed with this series so far. It has been a great start and Beta Ray Bill #2 kicks the story into full gear. With some surprising twists and turns and some interesting characters popping up, it is a wild story full of fun, action, adventure, and powerful emotion. The art is incredible and an absolute delight to look at every single panel and page. If you like good comic books you are doing yourself a disservice in not picking this up. Read Full Review
Beta Ray Bill #2 is a rare opportunity to see an auteur cartoonist put their mark on an in-continuity, mainstream comic, and Johnson makes me both emotionally connect with Bill's personal journey while also rocking my socks off with his approach to humor, page design, and fight choreography. Bring on the next three issues as well as the latest addition to Bill's space adventure party. Read Full Review
Beta Ray Bill #2 replaces the grim and sad introduction to the titular character with a sense of purpose and perfectly intermingled humor. This is an adventure well worth the trip so far. Read Full Review

A very strong second issue propels this mini-series forward in a lot of great ways. Both story and art are as good as comic books get. Read Full Review
Daniel Warren Johnson is such a great artist and writer.
wow
loving this beta to sigma bill arc
This is the best comic book being published right now. DWJ needs to be allowed to write and/or draw an arc of Thor proper at some point (hell give him the book when Cates is done.)
Something good from Marvel is rare these days.
I love this series. It's the perfect blend of humor, adventure, and epic space sci fi. It doesn't feel anything like previous Asgard stories. If anything, it feels more like Star Wars/Firefly and those kind of grand space adventures. Adding Skurge was such a welcome and organic choice for humor. And the art is so amazing. Johnson has a sense of scale that I haven't seen in recent artists and haven't seen in a while. He knows how to make space feel big. The details in each of the splash pages is also awesome, you can tell he really takes his time to flesh out the environment. I'm so excited for the rest of this series, and I wish that this could somehow lead to an ongoing for Johnson on Beta Ray Bill.
Finally reviewing the book whose cover my (current) profile picture came from. Luckily, it's a fantastic read. Johnson absolutely kills it with his art. Every page is so detailed and enthralling. I also was not expecting to see Bill hit the Rainmaker, but I loved it. The story he puts together, though, continues to be compelling and just great. I like the dynamic between Bill and Skurge, as their interactions with each other were a ton of fun throughout this. Along with that, the emotional weight of Bill's journey is still felt hard here. I think Johnson has found a nice voice for Bill and I think this is just an awesome book overall.
My god was this fantastic. Everything here was incredible - the story, the writing, the artwork. Great mixture of comedy, drama, and just general space adventure. I'm bummed this is only a mini-series, as I'd love a full run of this.
" Oh, I missed this !"
- SKURGE
A check-in with Odin points Bill in a new direction, and he's now capably stocked with sidekicks -- Skurge and Pip the Troll. It's a straightforward quest plot and I have some qualms about the characterization (The characters seem to prioritize "make Bill pretty again" too highly). But the art is still fantastic in a scruffy back-alley way, and there's still a powerful empathic connection to the protagonist. Maybe not the most momentous read, but tons of fun.
This is a good issue. It was written competently, but the standout here is the art. That's why you should read this.
Very enjoyable read. Its turning into a great series. The art fits with the story being told and its funny without trying to hard to hard and serious when it needs to be.
I am a big fan of Skurge.
Beers with Odin and a particularly cool splash page showcasing the interior map of the ship.
