Immortal Hulk #37 swings the spotlight back to the Leader, and watching the current storyline deform around his well-laid plans (and insider knowledge) is horrifically fascinating. Bodyguarded by its usual artistic excellence and a finely-wrought script, this issue is more than just a great read. It's a delivery system for a fresh load of fascinating new hints about the title's wider mythology -- and thus an indispensable treat for fans of the series. Read Full Review
This book is one of the best on the shelf today. Best of Marvel, DC, Image, and any other comic book company you could think of. And this issue stands out as one of the best of its entire run. Do yourself a favor and catch up immediately if you havent been reading this book. Read Full Review
It's one of the most thrilling single issue experiences of 2020, and it remains so on a second, third, and even fourth read. Bravo. Read Full Review
This issue was gripping, mysterious, and so well written. Readers interested in the Big Green Goliath will be piqued from start to finish while Ewings ingenuity to incorporate the Gamma Flight characters as well as the Hulk Shadow Base team were incredibly fluid and well balanced. Readers can truly see Ewings story beginning to unfold and to those, like myself, who've come along for the ride since it's inception, they finally get to see this story take shape. The planning and time that Ewing and Bennett put forth in each issue to mold this fantastic tale together are truly incredible. Read Full Review
Overall, Immortal Hulk #37 changed the game drastically. This is The leader like you have never seen him before. Its anyone's guess right now how anyone is going to stop what's coming, because there is no power greater than ‘The Keeper of the Green Door'. Read Full Review
The world is full of monsters. We like to think that those monsters are coming after us, somehow thinking that we're equal to them. But what if we're the prize in their battles? What if it's the monsters that are fighting themselves? When the monsters are the Hulk and the Leader that puts us between the proverbial rock and a hard place where we're just waiting to get smashed by one of them. Al Ewing and Joe Bennett have been stringing us along for a while now, playing some kind of sleight of hand game so that by the time this issue reveals the real rock and hard place, it's already too late for us. We're stuck in the middle, just waiting and hoping to see what this creative team's next trick is going to be. Read Full Review
Masterpiece
There's furious action on every front, in Iowa, at Shadow Base, and even in the Below-Place. The Leader's scheme comes into sharp focus, and he gets ample opportunity to chow down on the scenery in an entirely-positive way. Great words are welded to eye-popping art that masters a wide variety of surreal and hyper-real visual challenges. And this issue impresses on the conceptual front, too, making significant additions to the Green Door mythology. This issue is a masterclass in setting up a significant climax; I can't wait to see what comes next.
Bad Fucking Ass!! Leader is a real threat and his methods are spiritual and genius. What a Villain, he had some scenes that were just freaky. Perfect issue.
The best issue of the Immortal Hulk yet. I have nothing more to add on top of calling this perfect. Everything about this shows a group of talented people putting out the absolute best work they can.
The Leader is spooky af
Ohhhh my god.
It is not just one of the best issues of this fabulous run, it was one of the best issues of 2020! This issue left me speechless. Honestly, Immortal Hulk deserves to win the Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series in 2021!
One of the best issues of the entire run. Everything is coming together and man, way to make The Leader cool again, Ewing.
And we’re back!
Best issue since 33 or 24
Forget any idea what the synopsis or the cover might give you. This isn't a sidestory or a filler issue.
Just. Wow. This issue left me speechless. In a good way.
I don't know if it's the best issue from this astonishing book, but, imo, it's tied with #33 for the best issue from 2020, and that's saying something.
It's one of the books that always leaves you wanting more.
Maybe the best issue of Immortal Hulk so far and that’s saying something! I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through and everything’s starting to come together much quicker than I’d anticipated!
Ewing wraps like 5 or 6 storylines together in a heartbeat. This guy is a genius.
I wish I can read this in TPB but it would get spoiled for me and I'm too impatient anyway. Well crafted and beautifully illustrated. Whoever reads this in 2022 when it's all collected is in for a treat.
Read this issue and #0 it is like comic book heaven
Epic... Also this awkward Leader is soooo creepy. I like it.
" Death is just a door, doctor. Knock and enter."
- LEADER
Another really great issue. Some of the leaders expressions in this have been well crafted. The stales are high and its definitely starting to get to an endgame thats been brewing since the beginning.
