1. It's a lighthearted, goofy book. 2. See 1 3. America is one of 'em, Noh-Varr's her ex, which is explained by Kate, the only other worthwhile addition would've been Kid Loki but he's not a thing anymore obviously. 4. She's desperate. Did you want Bread Man instead? Also, see 1.

Aug 22, 2018No matter how high your expectations are for an irreverent Thompson/Caselli funnybook, West Coast Avengers #1 exceeds them. It combines a bundle of awesome flavours - peanut butter and chocolate and pink and Nextwave and more - in a way that's positively delicious. Aug 24, 2018In recent years, Marvel Comics has had several strong comedy titles in their lineup (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Howard the Duck, and Max Bemis'Worst X-Man Evercome to mind), but Kelly Thompson, Stefano Caselli, and Triona Farrell bring the funny to a team superhero book inWest Coast Avengers. It also continues the fantastic arc that Thompson has crafted for Kate Bishop over the past two years and providing a new home for the madcap antics of Gwenpool, the goofiness and salt of the earth earnestness of Clint Barton, the laconic punching of America Chavez (Hopefully, she isn't relegated to team chauffeur.), and the pompous edginess and untapped potential of Quentin Quire. In one issue, a team with an interesting dynamic has been assembled as well as a bad guy that fits the tone of the book so all in all, West Coast Avengers #1 is a win. Read Full Review

Aug 22, 2018With a lot of humor, the team has created a comic that while it has familiar aspects, the package is a lot of fun and will hopefully put a smile on your face and get you to laugh a bit. It all feels organic for everyone and enough is presented to make a reader check out what's next. The personality clashes alone will do that. While not completely original, this is a team to watch out for and feels like it's a worthy new addition of a classic. Read Full Review

The first issue of this series is simply amazing. While introducing the cast of characters, Kelly Thompson gives us a really cool idea: why don't we have a reality show kind of comic book? That's what we follow as the storyline gets developed: Katie Bishop trying to form a new West Coast Avengers team while having to deal with the perils and confusions that LA can deliver. The characters are really well written and you are for sure going to laugh at this book. In my opinion, it's a solid 10.

I feared the worse & this was a wonderful reading. Thompson succeed again with some absurd humor. I really liked what I read. Cover - 2/2 - I see the image of all in the same boat (Well on a little scooter ^^) Writing - That was a fun reading even if I have my doubt with the cliffhanger. Will see. 3/3 Arts - Not my taste, but did a great job. Even if their is too much Background only made of color. 2.5/3 Feeling - I will take issue 2 and possibly add it to my pull list. So good work. 2/2

First issue was quite fun to read. It's a weird team, but seems to work well to create some situations where you just can't help but chuckle. Thompson has been scoring plenty of hits lately. I really like the art style and the colors, they go well with the more laid back West Coast feel of the book.

The West Coast Avengers are BACK and this debut issue was awesome. I'm a huge Hawkeye fan and if you've been following Clint Barton and Kate Bishop since Matt Fraction's Hawkeye, this series should definitely be on your radar. It's got more superhero shenanigans than their previous series, and it's a lotta fun. The team lineup is strange but this first issue really sells you on these characters. I like that Clint is back in a capable leader role cuz he's kinda been portrayed as a little TOO MUCH of a screw up lately. Seems like he's there to help get this team up and running as their own Avengers squad. Kid Omega is one of my favorite newer characters and I'm glad he's getting more exposure here. America rocks, and idk anything about Gwenpo more

Kate Bishop assembles a seriously absurd team of C-listers as the threats confronting LA outgrow her in their own seriously absurd way. I can recognize that this book NEEDS the reader to sign on with an "okay, give me the silly" attitude. I'm more than willing to meet the creators halfway on that, and so I had an absolute blast. The characterization is smart and sweet, the art is brilliant, and the facial expressions are world-class funny business. It's a wonderfully goofy book, and if it were just a little less self-conscious about its goofiness, it might be perfect.

Wow. I've been waiting for this series since Kelly Thompson's Hawkeye was canceled in early 2018, and I was even more ecstatic when Stefano Caselli was announced as artist, as he's one of my all time personal favorite artists (Seriously, check out his other Marvel stuff). Anyways this book was HILARIOUS. When first saw the cover I was like "huh" because this team seemed to be complied of just random outcastes characters. Gwenpool, America Chavez, and Quentin Quire are honestly some of my most hated characters in comics but Kelly Thompson somehow made it fun to read about them. Also, when did Johnny get powers. Clint and Kate' dynamic is still awesome to read and I love the chill tone Thompson sets. We're in for a good one

OVERVIEW West Coast Avengers #1 a) Writing/Script= 8.5/10 (K. Thompson) b) Art= 8.4/10 (Stefano Caselli) c) Colours= 8.8/10 (Triona Farrell) Average= 8.57/10 This book is written by Kelly Thompson. So you know this book is going to be funny, fun, enjoyable, flirty, sexy and wacky. It was all of that but x10. This book was so much fun. Fans of the Kelly Thompson-Hawkeye series will love this book. Kelly Thompson had made Kate Bishop to be probably my favourite female character. She is so fun, charismatic, pretty and very relatable. I was afraid that i might get annoyed with America Chavez and Gwenpool but nope, Kelly Thompson has made me like them as well. Stefano Caselli's art is so good! But at some parts, the art on the charac more

I am a total sucker for Kate Bishop, especially when Kelly Thompson writes her. I think it's my secret pleasure. At first I was very hesitant to get this book because, even though I like Kate and Clint, the other characters have never interested me. I've always disliked Gwenpool and heard some mixed things about America. I'm glad that was put to rest. She writes all the character's nicely and not overly done. (especially Gwenpool) Caselli is always a solid artist so there is nothing to complain about there. I just hope Kelly can continue the magic she she had on her Hawkeye run.

Nice start. Funny in parts, good introduction to each team member, fun banter, and a good setting of the tone of the series. This is an interesting combination of misfits and I'm curious to see how their dynamic plays out over the coming issues.

I have feelings of Justice League International which I love, but also feelings of Tumblr humour. Gwenpool seemed out of character, I thought she would be way more stoked to be working with these characters. Overall though, I enjoyed it more than not.

What's the deal with cartoony Brodok? Why is Clint so passive? He was always the proactive, somewhat stubborn, but courageous as hell guy on the Avengers roster. Why doesn't Kate call up her old YA pals? Why does Kate willingly accept Gwenpool after her "background check" rule?
