HUNT FOR WOLVERINE #1 is a solid story that sets up the mystery of Wolverine's reappearance in the Marvel Universe. If you are Wolverine fan, you are in luck, as this issue features plenty of character tied to his past. This issue also finally answers some of the long-standing questions of what has happened, while leaving plenty to explore. Read Full Review
It's fun, action-packed, and loaded more than a baked potato with tons of the classic characters we love without all the nasty sour cream on top! Read Full Review
This issue will whet or appetite of what we have been wanting for a very long time, and at the same time leave you begging for more. I loved every single minute of reading this comic book. The artwork was wonderful and helped to tell the story well. The dialogue was magnificent and built the characters nicely. If you haven't picked it up yet, run to your LCS and pick it and the second issue up as soon as possible. Read Full Review
A well crafted story with great visuals and a mystery that is compelling. Read Full Review
Yeah, totally. The artwork is great, and the story is fun. There are some wonky choices here and there, but nobody is perfect. This should do the job of getting you hyped for the Hunt for Wolverine. Read Full Review
I'm not sure what I was expecting as far as a story but this definitely wasn't it. There are things in here that actually had me surprised and wanting to get the answers to come. This comic is supposed to do exactly that and in that way it succeeds and then some. Read Full Review
"Hunt for Wolverine" #1 delivers on its primary goals of getting readers excited for Logan's return. Beautiful art and a plot line that is respectful for fans, old and new. Read Full Review
We leave this issue with way more questions than when we came in. The good news is these mysteries are interesting and Logan seems to be in good hands. The bad news is that you'll have to be a little more alert and aware in making sure you don't miss any chapters in this story. Read Full Review
So, Hunt for Wolverine #1 was solidly good. It doesnt add much new to the story, but it retells what we already know in an entertaining manner. Charles Soule seems passionate about this. The artistic team do top notch work. Even at a frustrating $5.99 US, I can recommend it. Check it out. Read Full Review
The Hunt for Wolverine presents terrific visuals throughout and some genuinely touching moments in the A story. The B story, though, charts out a roadmap for a vast crossover event that's already looking bloated and unsatisfying. By itself, this issue is a decent read and a very pretty one, but the continuation of the story across four different miniseries looks promising for only the most indulgent and well-heeled Wolverine superfans. Thanks to his high concepts and working with artists like Marquez and Siquiera, The Hunt for Wolverine will likely appeal to readers just on sheer execution, even if we're only clawing at the surface how far this concept could truly go. Read Full Review
If I am honest, I much prefer the idea of a story within a story. For me, Wolvie's return would have been better served by hinting and tipping through his own book. Here, given that we know where we end up,this book isless of a hunt and more of a steps retraced. Read Full Review
This issue isn't actually bad, just kind of unnecessary. Read Full Review
Hunt for Wolverineis worth picking up if you are a big Logan fan and want to know where he has been and what is coming next. The art is great, and the characterisations and dialogue from Soule are good too. At times it reads a lot like an advert for what is coming next, which is pretty typical for comics, but the fact that what is next is 4 separate series, it seems a little far and unfriendly to the wallet. Even so, I think this is a good issue and worth your time. Read Full Review
With a cautiously measured approach, Marvel could have brought Wolverine back to his former heights, and let readers gradually remember why they liked the cantankerous mutant in the first place. Instead, they're immediately launched into a regiment of excess. All Wolverine books, all the time. Read Full Review
If you're in it for the craft, then the work that was done on "Secrets and Lives" may be worth the inflated cost that comes from being bundled with "Hunter's Pryde." Maybe. Read Full Review
This could have been much, much worse than what it was. If you are a big X-Men fan or seriously in invested in Marvel continuity, feel free to pick this up. Otherwise, this is a browse. Read Full Review
Hunt for Wolverine #1 is ultimately a cash grab that might have been the best issue of X-Men Gold I've read in a long time but far from quenched my appetite for the real Logan, who I'm not sure is even featured in this book at all. Read Full Review
Hunt for Wolverine #1 will disappoint anyone hoping for a clear, concise look at Wolverine's return to life. This story is less concerned with providing answers than it is setting up a pointlessly large crossover event. The lead story at least features some strong artwork and a few memorable flashback scenes, but neither is enough to justify the high cover price. Nor does this issue build much enthusiasm for what's to come for the character. Read Full Review
All the excitement generated by a Wolverine return has been somewhat muted. Some questionable decisions hurt this issue. I still want to check out the mini-series, but this seems like an wasted opportunity. Read Full Review

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten.
Well Well Well. The Hunt for Red October; I mean Wolverine. Not too bad at all. I was actually pretty shocked how much I liked it. Not because of the writer or art team because Charlie Soule is killing it on Vader and Daredevil right now, but because these quick tie in books are normally there to drum up extra sales and spark interest in big events to come but normally aren’t too good. Well, you got me again Marvel! And this one was great!
We open this story with Reavers coming to crack open the adamantium statue of Wolverine, which if you remem more
Honestly a lot better than I expected. Soule writes the X-Men fantastically and he sets up the tie ins perfectly near the end. Well written set up for the event. I like it even though it is almost guaranteed to not pay off in the end
This issue dumped a lot of information on us in the most action-packed way possible. Honestly, I didn't need the original Logan back. I was happy with the ending and if anything I would have been fine giving Old Man Logan a revived healing factor and letting him continue as the younger Logan had been. Maybe with a little extra grey, but we are here now and this is how it is.
Soule keeps the pace well and uses all the players well as well. This issue sets everything up so this is more about communicating where everyone is before the great hunt for Wolverine (Though to be honest I think Laura will always be my Wolverine). There is a new Status Qup coming for the X-Men and something tells me when this is all said and done. There wi more
It was awright story. Few retcons were good.
It's a good story by Soule and it's got mystery but this isn't what i had in mind. Logan was barely there. The art was nice and complimented the stories.
Ultimately 6 dollars for a tease is straight gangsta! I'm sad to say i can't buy 12 more issues to follow the story. Love you Logan but i can't afford this.
Would be a fine first issue of a mini, but it's an ad for SEVERAL minis. I enjoyed this, but I'm out.
The Reavers try to rob Logan's tomb; that segues into the discovery that his body is missing. The A story covering the robbery is excellent. The B story setting up four extremely-questionable follow-up titles is disappointing. On a pure storytelling level, it's satisfactory, but the core premise is rock stupid. Logan's corpse going MIA SHOULD trigger an all-mutants-on-deck X-Stravaganza. Who do we send out instead? One X-team that's all female for some reason, one villain squad, and two teams made up of the Netflix Defenders plus Spidey and Iron Man. It's abject nonsense. The poor planning in the B story is worth at least one penalty point; if I was buying at full cover price instead of reading this on MU, the penalty would be higher.
Wolverine is back! And there are clues! I probably wouldn't have gotten this if not for the David Marquez art, and, sure enough, his pages look great. The story of Logan's body going missing is mildly interesting. The back up tale, kind of skippable. But, hey, Guardian shows up! Is it me, or wasn't he killed in Alpha Flight #12 in 1984? Anyway, this is followed by four mini-series surrounding the mystery of Logan's location, none of which I will be reading. So...yeah.
There were a lot of character excluded and its longer then it needs to be. The arts good. but for his return there should be more
I bought this to see whether I'd pick up the mini-series. I didn't really get into it. There just didn't feel like there was much to it. It needed some extra depth or character work or something.
I'd give it a slightly higher rating if it was normal price, but for an expensive issue, it was disappointing.
Where's Armor? Laura? Amiko? Kurt? They don't get an invite to Logan's "real" funeral, but Doop and Firestar do? And while the series at least explains Jean's nonsensical appearance in Legacy #1, it doesn't change the fact her presence has no impact whatsoever.
The effort to make this a Marvel-wide thing is done hamfistedly at best. Did Kitty honestly not have someone within the X-sphere who would have been a better investigator than Daredevil?
All-in-all it's just a $6 ad for the FOUR upcoming miniseries.
