VENOM #6, plain and simple, is my favorite book of the month. It's a perfect ending to an already sublime story arc. Donny Cates continues making this series into one of the most enjoyable books on the stands. Ryan Stegman makes this issue look as stunning as possible. Read Full Review

VENOM #6 is a beautiful book with a complex storyline. On the surface, it looks like 90s glory, but a Donny Cates comic is much deeper than that. Read Full Review

Venom continues it's hot streak possibly bringing some sort of conclusion to the battle between Venom and Knull but who's to say for sure. Stegman's pencils continue to push this series into must buy territory, combined with the storytelling of Cates, this is almost unquestionably Marvel's consistently best book. Read Full Review
While I think there are some elements of Donny Cates story that work, I think what dragged this book down for me was that the tone felt off. As far as Venom is concerned, I'd rather see Eddie be the villain than a hero. This book hasn't really sold me on the idea that Venom is a "lethal protector" and tries to do too much, which is a classic Marvel sin. Where ever they decide to go with the story next, I hope it tries to bring Venom back to basics. Read Full Review
Prelude:
This first arc of Venom has been an absolute blast so far, and for a Marvel rarity is going for 6 issues. Let's see how Cates handles that and the conclusion to Rex.
The Good:
I absolutely love the geared up Venom.
Holy! Stegman's art continues to surprise me.
Like the ties to past Venom stories.
I loved Eddie in this issue.
That cliffhanger. It's simple for a Venom story but Cates has proved himself to use it effectively.
The Bad:
Nope.
Conclusion:
Cates finishes Rex off to great success. Absolutely loved this issue and the action blew me away. Stegman's art is just too great.
This is a modern classic in the making. Amazing art, incredible lore and story filled with both hype and heartfelt moments. Gold standard right here.
UUUUUUGGHHHHH I LOVE THIS COMIC BOOK, DONNY CATES LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING MAN DONNY CATES IS ON SOME CRAZY STUFF RIGHT NOW AND I HOPE THIS NEVER ENDS
"HEH... YOU WANT IT? IT'S YOURS BUT THERE'S SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW. IT'S NOT A SYMBIOTE... IT'S A COFFIN."
So much fun, so emotional, JUST AMAZING!
Stegmans Art is Insane, Everyone agrees.
Page 4 will make any Venom Head drool.
Ends with you wanting more like any good comic should.
Cant Imagine a better first arc. This is the best Venom we have had in a very long time.
Dramatic ending! What a great team on this book. Can’t say enough about them.
Amazing conclusion to this arc. Everything is just so good.
Eddie and his symbiote allies defeat Knull and Grendel. Every aspect is given over-the-top passionate creativity, except the plot, and that's OK. This issue proves that abundant style can easily make up for a slight shortage of substance. Knock-your-eyes-out great visuals, some moving and meaningful characterization for Eddie, and a satisfying victory to cap off the arc. I could have done without the Fatality Fakeout ending, though.
Fantastic and probably the most quotable comic all year.
Wonderful ending full of suspense. After such first arc, it really makes me wonder what's still coming.
WHAT A FREAKIN FINALE
Donny Cates did good. He Has a satisfying and emotional ending to the arc. Stegman is just ridiculous with his art. JP Mayer inks along with Frank Martin's colors were just outstanding.
Cates is just so nuts its awesome. This story,if told by someone else, would have been something straight out the 90s but, he kills it every time. Sherman draws an awesome venom as well. Can't go wrong.
THE GOOD:
-The art is too good. Stegman kills it. Even coming from a guy who is not at all critical with his art, this is a ways above a lot of the good artists I've seen on a comic recently.
-As far as finales go, this issue did that very well. It felt dramatic and the buildup was well-done.
-That last page speaks for itself.
THE BAD:
-The issue didn't have enough plot-wise for me. It was a good final battle, but it doesn't really measure up to the first few issues.
-The issue rushes things too much for me. The deaths didn't seem impactful, the defeats excellent.
-The lettering on pages 4-5 does not work at all.
