Great commentary on a great book.
It’s a trip through the psychosphere of Middleton as newly-minted partnersJohn Jones and the Martian follow the trail of whoever—or whatever—isresponsible for the surprising, destructive behavior of people all across thecity—and the world!
This story is definitely heating up with Absolute Martian Manhunter #3, and the visuals continue to be a wonderful mind-screw. If you want to feel something, be it empathy or maybe a bit high, this may be right up your alley. Read Full Review
This book is an experience in the strangest way possible. Read Full Review
Absolute Martian Manhunter Issue 3 expands the cerebral comic. The newer issue is easier to settle into and follow, but Camp and Rodriguez are still throwing curveballs that bend reality. Read Full Review
Absolute Martian Manhunter is the barn burner book in all of comics right now. Nowhere else is a character being so brilliantly reinvented, both narratively and visually. Nowhere else are readers being offered such an insightful look at the humanity of the world they live in. Every week that this book is published will be a week in which it's the first thing I read. Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez's Absolute Martian Manhunter continues to be one of the most immersive and impactful comic of 2025. This is a book that can be read on a variety of levels: Rodriguez's trippy imagery and more traditional art, Camp's narrative captions for John Jones, and Martian vision, which letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou conveys in (At times literal) cloudy script. Absolute Martian Manhunter definitely has the potential when this opening storyline is done to be truly special. All the pieces are falling into place and it's providing both a good challenge and an engaging read without being so obscure and heavy-handed about it. I absolutely love the artwork and cannot praise it enough, especially with how it's intertwining with the lettering to handle all the thoughts and other expressive areas. I'm glad it got extended for another six issues and can't wait to see what's being built out here and where it can go because it is quite open-ended. At this point, I want to see more of this awkward integration of our two leads, but I really want to see John make some progress with his family because it would be so welcome to have things go positive there than to continue spiralling downward for the entire run. John needs a non-professional win! Read Full Review
Absolute Martian Manhunter #3 is another exceptional installment in a series that continues to defy expectations. If you're looking for a superhero story that dares to be different, look no further. Read Full Review
John Jones and his partner brave the unknown as mysterious deaths mount. Camps excellent writing exposes much of the new pair. Rodrguez & Otsmane-Elhaou construct more visual masterpieces as the threat mounts. There has never been a superhero story quite like this one. Read Full Review
A more solidified story and characters help to balance the weirdness, elevating all ships in this excellent comic. Read Full Review
Absolute Martian Manhunter #3brings a little more clarity to the series, but the basics of plot and storytelling are woefully incomplete. Deniz Camp's drug-fueled homage to changing perception through the "smoke" is probably better enjoyed if you read the collection on April 20th. Read Full Review
My only hang up with my favorite titles right now are, they’re limited runs..
magnificent.
Let me start by saying what immolated means:
"Kill or offer as a sacrifice, especially by burning"
"The term "immolated" is the past simple and past participle of "immolate," which means to kill oneself or someone else, or to destroy something, usually by burning."
This series is about a lot of things both in the literal parts of the story and the abstract concepts displayed writing and the art. Deniz Camp along with Javier Rodriguez are creating a noir crime thriller tale. While exploring the psychology of victims and perpetrators of violent offenses through visual metaphors. These are the colored smoke shapes that carry the thoughts, the feelings and emotions of the people of this unfortunate world. As if this wasn more
This book continues to defy expectations and find new ways to explore the characters’ personalities while revealing new surprises. The plot moves forward at a brisk pace and introduces a terrifying threat to not only our heroes but all of humanity. Hands down the best book on shelves each month. Kudos to this team for bringing their A-game every time!
This will hopefully get a hard cover when all done and kept in print as a perennial book. It’s that good.
Stunning and heartfelt work from Deniz Camp as always, and brilliantly realised by Javier Rodriguez. This truly is one of THE books of the year.
It's interesting and unique, but I really need an engaging plot and characters here.
To be honest, even though this series is very abstract and much more difficult to understand compared to the other Absolute series, it's still written well. I feel that the more I re-read this, the more I will enjoy and appreciate this.
