There's nothing else like this coming from the Big Two. Camp and Rodriguez seem to have asked themselves not simply how to tell a great story, but how to move the medium forward. This metamodern narrative engages with the way we as a reader engage with the world, and is distinctly in conversation with us. Read Full Review

Absolute Martian Manhunter #2 effectively tackles heavy, real-world themes like paranoia and mass violence. With relevant writing by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodrguez's stunningly vibrant and impactful artwork, the issue builds intrigue with poignant character moments and ends on a powerful cliffhanger. Absolute Martian Manhunter #2 is able to follow up a masterpiece of a comic with a continuation that brings order to the beautiful chaos of what came before. This comic is visual storytelling at its finest, using page composition and art to bring a world to life. Absolute Martian Manhunter #2 brings together the disparate elements of comic storytelling, weaving them together into a mass of words and images that is completely unlike anything on the market. It's hard to imagine a comic can be this good, but here it is. Books like Absolute Martian Manhunter show just what comics can be. Read Full Review

Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 is a hard act to follow. It was the kind of first issue that truly announces itself. Indeed, Absolute Martian Manhunter #2 doesnt quite reach that same height. But it gets very close. The Martians dialogue proves a bit of an attention hog. All in all, though, Absolute Martian Manhunter #2 is another showcase for the power of the comic book medium. Absolute Martian Manhunter #2fills in some of the blanks regarding Agent Jones's new partner when the two embark on their first mission together to stop an active shooter. Deniz Camp's plot leaps ahead of the first issue by clarifying enough bits about the Martian's presence on Earth to make the story accessible, and Javier Rodriguez's art will continue to please his existing fans. That said, this issue raises a flag of concern about Camp's intentions for this series. Read Full Review

This beautiful psychedelic trip set in the Absolute universe continues. Love it. This character hasn't felt this relevant in years. Deniz Camp's star continues to rise, despite people unfairly turning on his wonderful Ultimate run. The man might have the best new IP in years with Assorted Crisis Events. Watching his career boom has been a pleasure to see.

It's difficult at times to review a comic and use words that generally reflect how you feel. Martian Manhunter is absolutely and utterly perfection. The script , words , story and art just all come together magnificently...........JM

Amazing. Probably the finest second issue of an amazing book that I've ever read. It takes everything I loved about the first issue and moves it forward with exciting new developments, both in terms of plot and character. This is proving to be a book that I want to re-read immediately after I finish it. It definitely leaves you wanting more, and it also stimulates your imagination to ponder what future Absolute Universe team-ups with this character might look like.

Shoutout to Deniz Camp for having me look up a bunch of words that I didn't know like for example synecdoche which means "a figure of speech using a term to denote one thing to refer to a related thing." I say all of this to explain that this version of the Martan Manhunter is not a real Martian from Mars, he's still alien though. He's just using a synecdoche to explain where he's from. Who ever said you can't learn things, real vocabulary from comics. Issue #2 is just as creepy, trippy and weird as issue #1. I couldn't' help but noticed there's a big Madame Xanadu sign in the back. Good to know the fortune teller is alive in this world. Maybe that's a string to pull later on, who knows? The gist of this issue is mostly the Martian tryi more

Another awesome issue. Rodríguez continues to absolutely nail it on the art duties, and Camp provides a thoroughly intriguing story that has a really nice balance between dealing with the weird space stuff from the main character(s) and real-world political issues. Camp, in particular, is really becoming one of my favorite writers in the game right now.

I love where the series is going so far. I'm very intrigued. I think this book is 50/50. I'm not really sure it would work without Javier Rodriguez's art. I feel like he's just as integral to the storytelling as Camp.

The second issue continues the experimental storytelling with a tighter,, less confusing plot. I love the weird concepts and ideas and the 60s inspired artwork. My only issue is the protagonist himself. Agent Jones is just not a compelling, interesting character (yet), there's nothing about him that makes me care for what's happening to him. If Camp manages to fix this, Absolute Martian Manhunter has the potential to become a favorite on my pull list.

it's honestly crazy on how this is the most confusing and abstract out of all the DC Absolute Universe series, yet it still makes some sense and is intriguing. I really do love Javier Rodriguez art here. It's beautiful.
