A comic book that gives DC Comic book fans a good deal of crowd-pleasing characters and dramatic moments that grabs you by the lapels and draws you in from the very first page. Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj
Mar 10, 2023There is an added bonus with Red Tornado being there. The Earth 2 Lois' persona was downloaded into the robot in that series. I hope we see more interactions between our Lois and the Tornado. Some grist there. Overall this was a good hook for the series. The art is delicious. The quest is noble. I like the co-stars. Mar 08, 2023Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #1 is a good start. It takes a bit to get to the end's big reveal and also the mission ahead, but it does a good job as an opening chapter. There's a lot we know that's coming, and that's part of the issue. While the comic sets up Jon's adventure, it doesn't get us to where we want it to go, him heading to the world of "Injustice." That's partially why it feels a bit slow getting to the point. Overall though, it's a first issue that'll fit in nicely as we get to read more of the series, sadly we need to wait for that to happen. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this, knowing nothing about Injustice nor having ever particularly wanted to, but it worked for me. Bringing Ultraman into this is a solid emotional hook and it's nice to see Jon's Bendis-era backstory (whatever one might think of it) as a thing with lasting ramifications for the character, something we haven't seen much of since the story was told. And Clayton Henry's a good, reliable choice for this comic. A nice start!

A pretty good opener that does a good job of establishing emotional stakes for this series from the start. As a fan of Taylor's run with Son of Kal-El, I'm glad to see this continuation maintain quality. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the Injustice universe coming into play soon, but I'm a fan of both of the games, so hopefully everything works out. Excited to see where this mini goes from here!

I think one of the biggest problems of SOKE was lack of exciting adventures for Jon. Taylor did an okay job in character development but plotwise not so much. Here TT is on the right track, he finally brings some stakes to the narratve making more engaging. Also, the inclusion Earth-2 characters is a nice addition after so many years of not seeing them.

It was kind of mediocre. Shouldn't Ultraman be like 100 years old since time moves faster in his demension. Not bad , but hardly the ten so many people have it. And yes Jon should still be ten

Ever since reading injustice I've been waiting for tom Taylor to live up those standards. I'm sad to say this series so far has not.
