Tensions continue to build as more of the major players cross paths and form alliances. If you're wanting some gritty, noir drama, this is it. Another dynamic issue of Daredevil. Read Full Review
There's a lot to take in from this issue but none of it feels overwhelming. A lot of ground is covered and some motivations are fleshed out whilst actions that are no doubt going to lead to some massive events in future issues are put in motion. A great issue and well worth adding to your collection. Read Full Review
Ever since Zdarsky was announced for the Daredevil title, we got excited. This issue, which puts the writer along with a fantastic group of other artists lives up to that excitement fully. We have a good story, good conduction and great artwork to feast our eyes upon. Definitely worth picking up if you enjoy a good comic and even more if you consider yourself a Daredevil fan. An excellent book that's easily worth both your time and money! Zdarsky & company take this book to another level. Read Full Review
The tension and stakes are ramping up from every angle and Chip Zdarsky is giving the reader just enough (or maybe just a little less than enough) to continue making this book a must-read every issue. Things are about to get real messy and I cant wait. Read Full Review
Daredevil #14 assembles a busy slate of conversations. Despite the action-light talk-heavy schedule, terrific creative skill ensures that it all looks and sounds intriguing. This issue breaks the Daredevil story down into parallel stories about characters good, evil, and in between -- and every one of them comes across as worthy of the reader's attention. Daredevil #14 reminds readers why this is one of the smartest superhero series published today after a brief detour through melodrama. Read Full Review
This is so good! Zdarsky’s writing is always so good and thought-provoking. He always has something to say and the way he incorporates the themes he’s exploring into the story is so well done and satisfying. This is an extremely smart comic book.
I highly highly doubt this will end well for the Stromwyns…
The confrontation between Matt and Cole at the diner is great. Zdarsky really excels with dialogue and making a seemingly mundane non-action event extremely tense.
one of my favorite characters being written so well this book is amazing
This comic is just so good with all of the characters.
This is such a good run.
Give this man an Eisner
You know what I realized... Daredevil is the luckiest Marvel character. He's been graced with some of the most amazing creative teams in history: Miller, Bendis/Maleev, Brubaker/Lark, Waid/Samnee, Soule, and now Zdarsky. All of these runs are unique, tell a unique story, and are all entertaining well written amazingly drawn runs. I need an omnibus of this run as soon as it ends (which hopefully wont be for a long time)
Prelude:
This issue shows a lot of promise after last issue's cliffhanger. Hopefully Zdarsky can land it.
The Good:
I was hoping the conversation scene was going to be good and Zdarsky delivered. Plus some useful backstory and development for Cole.
Interesting development with Fisk, can't wait to see where this goes.
Both sides of the Libris Family story was interesting to see, but it's what they will do in the future that creates the anticipation.
Matt is stepping up his game now. I like this development and it'll be interesting to see how this pays off.
Oh and the art is absolutely great too.
The Bad:
Nothing.
Conclusion:
An amazing issue that more
As good a set-up issue as you will ever get.
Another gripping issue from this creative team.
Can't wait until this incredible run is bound as an omnibus!
Daredevil gets into detective North's head, the Stromwyns take aim at Fisk, and Mindy calls out Matt's savior complex. It's 90% conversation, but it's done so exquisitely well it's got a strong chance of being the best comic you read this week. Chip Zdarsky's Daredevil stretches toward Wire-like levels of intricacy and quality. "And all the pieces matter."
-Bit of world building with hammerhead
-Cole is can be more of a passenger character at times, but the world built around him makes his journey so much more interesting
-Love Chip's writing on the morals of being held accountable by the law
-Definitely a bridge/set up issue, but it does it with intelligence
A soap opera in the best possible way.
Well paced and great art for a smooth series!
" It's still the law. I followed the rules and submitted myself for judgment. You answer to no one. "
- DÉTECTIVE COLE NORTH
What I like about daredevil is that its slow enough to build things nicely but not too slow where it feels tired. Each issue builds on the last and takes the next step into the story. It was a great read.
Pretty good issue. Amazing art in the still scenes, pretty bad when it comes to action, as always.Amazing colors(despite the weird pink blood)
Cole's conversation with Matt was pretty interesting. Wonder how important the governor is going to be in the end. Doubt he's going to actually have a significant role unless they decide to ignore who's the current one in real life and just come up with a fictional one.
I'm taking TWO points off a great issue because of Mindy Libris. What an awful character. Hope she won't be a big character in this series.
