This looked and read like everyone involved in the creation couldn't wait to get this homework done. I try to find SOMETHING nice to say about it, and it's that Meggan is featured in this book. Not the character from Excalibur but some alternative version of her, completely free of personality and/or inner conflict, but still: the name and costume were correct!

What a let-down. The 5,99$ doesn't sweeten the "deal" either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_rGe_JT2C8&t=2s

Maximum blandness: achieved. Boring and anti-climatic storytelling: done. Humour, which isn't funny: yup. Not super-bad, just super-skippable.

Wyrd #1 Feb 4, 2019

Cardboard characters playing out info dumps. This is what happens when you get your news from sensationalistic websites and news shows: superficial and undifferentiated hyperbole and phantasies about hyperviolence and civil war. Though it's a clever business move by Ales Kot to drop this at a time of peak-alarmism and Trump-Tweet-journalism. I can feel the hate, alright. (Not to say this can't turn into something more interesting, but the first issue isn't very promising)

It's warming up the Superior Foes thing (which was very cool back in the day), but not it's just lukewarm. Like the retelling of an old joke: not as funny anymore. Art was really bad, too. One issue in I'm already out again. Waiting for the next writer (or Zdarsky's comeback).

cliche "sassy" lead character, boring "case", soon to be canceled book.

Marvel 2099 (2019): Alpha #1 Dec 10, 2019

Really good art but they got two writers and 30+ pages to tell what... half a chapter of a story? Also: this super-generic "funny" in almost every dialogue just doesn't click with me. I read it and it was fine and I wished all the time Peter David would be allowed to write an X-Book again...

Sub-par art, overloaded plot, weird story rhythm (could be coming from the art), the Punisher as a guest star in his ow book and in general not a good entry point for newcomers, so: meh.

All-Star Batman #1 Aug 10, 2016

Art by Garry Brown was cool. Plotidea was neat, but the dialogue a bit forced/stiff. They're doing the "Let's call each other Cat and Spider"-thing that drove me nuts in Batman #50? Is this a virus?!?!

The first misstep for this otherwise great series.

With basically every mystery still being very mysterious and only one issue left... and with sales numbers, which don't necessarily warrant a second "season"... is this once-promising series up for a serious nosedive?

The feeling, when you find out in No 3 that it's not the series you were hoping for, but a Pulp Fiction version of it. Sad.

I wish it was as good as it pretends to be. But I am pretty sure I will enjoy it more in a second reading.

It's tragic that the AMAZING art by McCrea (and the colors by Spicer) got wasted on this. While the writing itself is not bad, the story idea seems just so bland and predictable. And I also don't get, why the writers used such a slow pacing and so much exposition for the kick-off of a mini-series. But they did write the characters well and I guess it will be a decent collection when done.

great throw-back to the 90s, probably better written than the old stuff. really good start.

I am astounded about Prince’s capabilities. The mix of complexity, psychology and straightforward genre storytelling reminds me of the best moments of Vertigo in its heyday. And Whenever I think I got Prince worked out, he surprises me anew. Must be the most exciting author working in comics today. Just wish he would expand beyond then anthology format and would start a long form series.

Imagine 5-6 more writers of Hickmans caliber working in the medium, on mainstream books. We’d have the glorious rebirth of comic culture in no time...

Fucking A++!!

Perfect. Best first issue since Vision #1.

probably the best harbinger issue yet. grande.

Fucking perfection!!!!

Perfection.

Wow. What a masterpiece.

Fuck, YES. This, after the rather lackluster No 6, was surprisingly intense with a hand full of "Whoa!"-moments and the craziest ending I have ever witnessed in a Hulk book. A++

Perfect. So much Heart in a marvel book... enjoyed every page and just kept thinking: man, why are there not more comics like this from the big two. I’m shocked how low the resonance was for this issue. For me a 10/10

Yup, as good as everyone says it is. This and Amazing 801 were the best Spidey issues in a long time.

The best book on the stands. If you like or used to like the weirder side of Vertigo, namely the comics written by Morrison and Milligan, this is for you. The artwork by Marley Zarcone is a treat, too. Beautiful, exciting series. I hoe this will last for a long time...

best warren ellis i've read in years. and tula lotay's art on top of it? absolutely riveting.

Can’t believe how incredibly good this is.

Well, THIS is how you do a political comic. Bravo!
