"Darkseid War" has not disappointed. Each issue adds an additional layer to the complex story. Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok are flexing their collaborative muscles and bringing the absolute best out of each other. Can the Justice League (Gods on Earth) hope to contend with actual Gods from the cosmos? We have to keep reading to find out. Read Full Review

    Comicosity - Aaron Long Sep 30, 2015

Justice League #44 is immense. The Darkseid War is, thus far, my favourite arc of 2015, and possibly my favourite DC arc ever if this astounding level of quality is maintained. I am not saying this lightly: this event trumps every arc & major event that has occurred in the DCU since the inception of the New 52. This is a must read for any fans of the Justice League or even just fans of damn good superhero comics. Two masters are unleashing one of the greatest stories of the past decade on the DCU right in front of our eyes and I am damn happy to be along for the ride. Read Full Review

    Comic Vine - Tony 'G-Man' Guerrero Sep 30, 2015

Darkseid War continues to deliver great chapter after chapter. In some ways, it feels like we're getting a nice and slow but steady build up. I have no idea how long this arc will last and I don't want to know. Each chapter cranks up the action just a little more. Although in this issue, things appear to have escalated pretty dang quickly. Geoff Johns is giving us a big comic book event while keeping it contained to a single series. Jason Fabok's art is incredible and Brad Anderson's colors are most impressive. This book is carving out its own path in the DCU. You can easily dive in and become submersed into the story and action. It's not often that a comic story can suck you in and completely grasp your attention. Now when can I read the next chapter? Read Full Review

Green Lantern Corps - iggy Oct 3, 2015

Jason Fabok and Geoff Johns are a match made in heaven, I wasn't sure if the team of Johns/Reis could be beat but I think we have a contender with Johns/Fabok, either way the fans of Justice League win out in the end. Fittingly so, this was a grand end to act one of Darkseid War. If you're reading this and you haven't been reading the series, go back and read them now. Read Full Review

Dark Knight News - Alec Ward Oct 1, 2015

This issue has been one of, if not the best, issue of the series thus far. I remain in my stead that Fabok is the best current DC artist out there and his art in this issue is top-notch. It would be easy for this story to get lost in the fray between the various other arcs that are concurrently going at the same time, but everything is crisp, clean, and perfectly understandable through the whole ordeal. I cannot recommend this title, or this issue enough. Read Full Review

Justice League #44 represents something that's exceedingly rare for one of the bit two companies in this industry, and that's an event actually handled right. Through a very strong creative team which boasts pretty pictures and consistently engaging plot development, we see a fourth entry that's more than worth its own price of admission. Highly recommended. Read Full Review

Justice League #44 is a fantastic read that delivers a story in a grand and epic fashion. This is the type of larger-than-life super hero action and adventure that makes comic books so much fun. I cannot recommend Justice League #44 enough. You need to give this title a try. At the very least, get this story arc when it is released in trade format. Justice League #44 continues to be one of the few mainstream super hero titles that is worth every penny of its cover price. Read Full Review

This story is a spectacle that all should be witness to because Johns is delivering everything that the fans have ever wanted to see and more.  There really isn't much to say besides for get off your ass and go get this issue because the story is great and the art is fantastic and if you miss this, I'm sure you're going to regret it.......... or you'll just go get the trade when it comes out, but then you'd have to go all those months without being able to yell at total strangers about how great this story is and nobody wants that. The Hub City Review - Matthew J. Theriault Oct 21, 2015

The artwork is gorgeous per usual for this series. No one draws hair quite like Fabok, and his accuracy of anatomy and depiction of muscles is equaled by few others. After effects such as motion blur are employed frequently throughout, but rarely over used, and Fabok demonstrates a mastery of traditional techniques as well, such as in Darkseid's Omega Beams or the Anti-Monitor's antimatter blasts. Just as importantly, he knows precisely when to utilize computer enhancements and when to stick to plain old pencils. It is a shame that the move away from the New 52 labeling and tone isn't matched by a jettisoning of the armor costume redesigns in favor of the classic spandex and underwear, but the new digs each league member is receiving upon deification are visually striking at the least. But these are minor hiccups - and when you're dealing with an honest-to-goodness event, minor hiccups are more than forgivable. Johns and Fabok have proven that you don't need to sacrifice quality just for the sake of high concept. This is the kind of summer blockbuster that fans wait years to see, and it's so fantastic that we get to check in month after month. Things may look bad for the Justice League, but for this reader, this series has begun to feel like a new Golden Age for DC's finest characters. Read Full Review

DC says at the end of the book "DC COMICS PROUDLY PRESENTS", and they should be proud about this. They are telling a crazy story and at every turn it seems to be paying off. I hope the ending is satisfying, but the ride there is enough to fill my nerd stomach. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Oct 2, 2015

"The Darkseid War" has an epic feel to it and this chapter in "Justice League" #44 continues that trend, making this read like the latest installment of a DC Comics event. The cast is rather tight for an event comic, but that thinner group of characters gives Johns, Fabok, Anderson and Leigh ample opportunity to put each character under the microscope. Not every member of the League has equal panel time, but the ones that do are filled with drama and potential. The final image of "Justice League" #44 packs potential and holds the key for the next developments in "The Darkseid War," which promises to be explosive. Read Full Review

This marks a huge change for the Anti-Monitor, a new origin I think people may be very split on. But you can't argue this is well done work. It's over the top, it's semi-classic clashes tipped in grit, it's very much Johns. Read Full Review

    Comicsverse - Danny Rivera Sep 30, 2015

It's all flash, though (pun kind of intended). In no moment is that truer than the opening panels. Despite gorgeous visuals, the Joker's presence, even just thematically, is curious. For fan service? To cash in on his recent resurgence in popularity? To promote the release of the “Endgame” trade paperback? It's justified through some allusions to laughter on the battlefield and an inelegant visual transition to Batman, but it just encapsulates the issue's, well, issue: look past the surface and there's not much going on there. Weekly Comic Book Review - Loukas Oct 7, 2015

What is the opposite of life? That mystery has been the motivation for the character of Darkseid, the New God ruler of Apokalips, ever since the legendary Jack Kirby first introduced him and his extended, murderous family of deities in the 1970s. The Age of Aquarius was famously given to sentimental speculation about the nature of the world, and the saga of the New Gods was a product of its time. The goal of Darkseid's cosmic quest was the Anti-Life Equation, a mystical source of power that embodied not death, but slavery. The Anti-Life Equation did not extinguish physical existence, but free will, without which life was a mockery. Read Full Review

The art has been nothing short of stunning, and the plot has been quite engaging. This issue finally brought the fight I had been so desperately longing to see. Frankly, the fight felt like purchasing an expensive pay per view fight, only to see the bout end early. There was still a knockout, and it was highly entertaining, but it left me wanting more (not a bad thing). Luckily, more is exactly what we're going to get. A series of one-shots are spinning out of the pages of this title which should be interesting. Read Full Review
