JUDGMENT DAY BEGINS.
The heroes know what they have to do. But do they have to do it? They were smart enough to get themselves into this mess. Maybe they can be smart enough to get out of it....

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #3 continues to be amazing. Theres really no other way to describe it. Gillen, Schiti, Gracia, and Cowles are making the best event books since 2015s Secret Wars and theres no two ways about it. This story continues to go in exceptional new directions, ones that no one would have figured when it was announced, which is why its so great. Read Full Review
Schiti delivers some powerful and beautifully detailed pages and panels throughout the issue. The sequence towards the end of the issue if brilliantly done and emotional. Read Full Review
Theres a lot of plates, and a lot of characters that are incredibly busy, so its easy to get lost, but even with everything going on, I do know this: Gillen excels at character development, and the growth were seeing here with the parties involved just goes to show that with the right creators, you can build a franchise that speaks to any type of fan out there. Im sad to see Gillens arc with the Eternals ending after this, but hopefully this isnt the last we see of them. Read Full Review
A.X.E.: Judgement Day #3 brings a sense of foreboding to the story, as the Marvel Universe is judged for its perceived sins. With the fallout set to encompass nearly every hero in the House of Ideas, it remains to be seen who the Progenitor deems worthy and who it condemns. And while the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals have battled gods before, this is a refreshing take on the matter because it may force them to be more introspective. Read Full Review
Judgment Day is quickly evolving into a very special event that delivers on the blockbuster promises of crossovers without forgetting to root its story in universal questions and character; A.X.E. is beginning to look like a best case scenario for superhero events. Read Full Review
Big event comics give characters new problems to overcome while raising the stakes. A.X.E.: Judgment Day#3 raises the stakes tenfold while establishing that maybe there is no way out of being judged. Read Full Review
A.X.E.: Judgment Day #3 continues the war with plenty of engaging visuals during the battles, an interesting moral dilemma, and an intriguing last page reveal. However, the issue ends almost in the same place it started, so if you choose to skip it, you won't miss much. Read Full Review
FINAL THOUGHTSWhile having a few key developments A.X.E.: Judgment Day #3 doesn't push the story forward as much as you expect. We are left in a similar spot when A.X.E.: Judgment Day #3 started as our heroes figure out what to do with The Progenitor's announcement. While we do get a lot of cool moments you are left wishing more was done story wise. That said, we do get a lot of excellent artwork from Valerio Schiti that drives home how we are experiencing a big event. The art alone makes you look forward for what big thing we will get to see Schiti draw next. Read Full Review
Carried by the art, but I’m content with that.
The art raises the sense of stakes, which makes sense for pacing with a #3 of 6.
I could see how the twist at the end of this issue may leave some people feeling sour, but I think it worked really well in showing that there isn't an easy way out. The heroes of Earth are going to face judgment, and they've brought it on themselves. There are some great character moments. For instance, Cap's judgment is crushing, but he responds exactly how Cap would. The art is also incredible. This feels and looks like an event, and it lives up to the hype.
Intense, well-paced! Far cheaper than going to a theme park! 😯 And two scenes took my breath away, the one involving the Celestial God (that's all I can really say w/o bein all Spoiler-y!) and that last panel when the reveal drops! I hope future events will be this good! #hopehopehope
I call these Big Dumb Events™ because even in a very good one (which this is), the stupid's never very far from the surface.
In this case: "I will judge you individually to decide if the world is terrible. Captain America, you're supposed to inspire the world, but the world is terrible. Therefore, you're a failure."
Forget Avengers and X-Men, send a community college logic professor to demolish his circular reasoning and begging of the question.
Kieron Gillen is quickly becoming my favourite X-writer alongside Ben Percy! Judgment Day keeps being great in every way.
This series is moving at such a deliberate and focused pace in shocked we've gotten this far into the story. Theres definitely more surprises coming and I'm here for it.
BAITED!
This one was fun, maybe not as explosive as the previous chapters, but I can tell we need this calm before the storm as we reach the halfway point.
The deviants coming through the gates was hilarious, and that final page should bring the hype. Still loving this!
EXPLOSIVE issue with some bonkers ideas!
This event is really quite huge in scope but the X-Team feels confident they can lead all this.
Could be a little high on the grade, but it was overall pretty enjoyable. It had a good amount of good moments. I like the concept of this event more than when it started.
It's a good read from Gillen but unstable on its own. It is a link to the next and can't carry the weight alone. Schiti and Gracia are doing some nice work which makes it all read much better.
There's no major problem with this issue other than it's just really boring. With a major event story with 6 issues (plus an omega) you would think that each issue progresses the story. As far as progression, there was barely a pivot from last issue.
This rivals Empyre for most boring event comic. That being said, I don't think there are any major flaws. The art is good, there's a lot of characters to juggle and for what it is, that was managed fairly well.
This may be a harsh comparison but it reminds me of when I first watched the second Transformers movie. Lots of action but so boring that I just wanted it to end. (For the record, this story is still much better than that movie).
All in all, I regret h more
This issue is very forgettable. I had to look back to even remember what happened. Cap was judged and found wanting. Which I have to bull on. And Starfox appears at the end.
