What the fuck are you talking about?
Superman/Nightwing crossover part 2 of 2! Nightwing promised Clark Kent that while he's off-planet, Nightwing would look after Clark's son, Jon, as he tries to fill his father's shoes as Superman. But with someone out there murdering superpowered people, is Nightwing in over his head? Read Nightwing #89 (in stores 2/15/22) for part 1 of this crossover story!
Superman: Son Of Kal-El #9 is just a wonderful comic. Crossing over Nightwing and Superman was a great idea, and Taylor nails every story beat in this issue. Redondo continues to be one of the best pencilers working in the industry today. This is just a stellar issue from start to finish. Read Full Review
Superman: Son of Kal-El #9 shows what a gem this title is. While his Nightwing generally gets more appreciation, Taylor is doing a fantastic job on this title as well. Hopefully, this crossover will win over some of the readers who haven't been following this series. This crossover was an amazing story, and I hope it's the first of many. Read Full Review
Superman: Son of Kal-El #9is a fantastic team-up story that highlights the strengths and vulnerabilities of Superman and Nightwing in a relatable way. Taylor continues to write both these characters with poignant heart and warmth, Redondo, Von Grawbadger, and Lucas's art is bold and graceful, and Abbott's lettering makes the perfect finishing touch. Superman and Nightwing fans alike will love the team-up, and likely be clamoring for more team-ups after. Go pick it up wherever you can. Read Full Review
The magic of Taylor and Redondo's Nightwing is out in full force in this crossover issue, providing possibly the best issue of Superman: Son of Kal-El yet! It's a shame Redondo and Dick Grayson won't be around for the next issue. Read Full Review

The lollipop is a bit over the top. But it works. Everything about this issue was a win, from the art to the action to the character beats. Everything. Read Full Review
Not surprisingly, Taylor, Redondo and Lucas deliver a terrific installment of Superman while setting the stage for Nightwing to play a more prominent role in the neophyte hero's life. Read Full Review
This book was a risk from the start"any replacement hero storyarc is"but this one is knocking it out of the park so far. Read Full Review
The Nightwing/Superman team reinvents the World's Finest team in a truly impressive and creative way, and young Jon with experienced Dick Grayson makes for a great balance. Read Full Review
Jon has to deal with the all-too-real price of heroics sometimes, and you can tell that while he is Superman, he still has a lot of growing to do. It is a tough job to take on, and Jon is doing excellently, and I love that he is wise enough to recognize that he doesn't have to do it alone. The shared talk with Jon and Dick was great, and it felt like such a bonding moment that will lead to this next generation of Superman and Batman trusting each other a lot more than their fathers do. Another solid Taylor and Redondo issue, even if it's odd to be reading this as a Superman comic, and not Nightwing, despite almost everything to the contrary. Read Full Review
Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo maximize the potential of what the dynamic between Dick Grayson and Jon Kent is with the conclusion of this crossover in Superman: Son of Kal-El #9. The interaction between the two fortifies the strong bond the two now have as Jon Kent has found the mentor he needs in Dick Grayson. Though the incomplete nature of the plot around the superhero murders does make it feel like the crossover between Nightwing and Superman concluded before it reached its full potential. The characters in this book are portrayed great and because of that, we get a really emotional and engaging story from how they're feeling and what they want to do about the situation. That being said though, the actual story never actually feels like it goes anywhere because of how fast things move and how the focus seems to be to allow Jon to express himself in what he's feeling. The art is great though and the characters are endearing, I just wish the story felt like it had more substance issue-to-issue. Read Full Review
Now THIS style of crossover, in my opinion, is the lifeblood of shared universe superhero comics. I love how this developed two characters, Jon and Dick, while also advancing The Rising arc currently unfolding in Jon's book. This reminded me of the style of crossover I used to read as a kid when The Punisher would pop up in the Ghost Rider book for a couple of issues. Absolutely no hate to big event comics, but this is the kind of crossover I find myself enjoying a lot more. I loved everything about this little crossover :)
I loved this, out of the two titles, NIGHTWING is the much stronger one, and that energy bleeds into this issue. Best issue of this series so far.
Ugh, this is so good. Taylor and Redondo create a perfect summary of everything I love about these characters: Dick just chilling as he falls off the roof, Jon getting all messed up over a bad guy dying in front of him, Lois kicking in the door. All perfect, and the older brother/little brother between Dick and Jon is convincing and compelling. My favorite issue of the series so far.
The best issue to date. The interactions and dynamic between Dick and Jon were great.
A great book fun read, but Jon should still be ten and no ten till he is. By the way Bendis still sucks
Really solid end to this fun little crossover. I really don't understand the hate this issue is getting, but I guess you can't take wrongness out of the degenerates.
Okay but where did that other lollipop come from?
a really solid issue that I found myself to be caring about Nightwing and Jon's new relationship. Like I said, Tom Taylor is my favorite comic book writer.
This crossover has been a blast. The way Redondo shows Nightwing moving through the panels is nothing short of brilliant and makes for a fun reading experience. Taylor's characterization of Dick is spot on too and positioning the character as the 'big brother' the new generation looks up to makes perfect sense. I'm hoping these two titles and characters crossover more going forward.
it is written nicely but the emotional side is just out of nowhere, Dick and Jon doesn't fit. I don't want to say forced but definitely rushed, Jon is like I was hoping you would come find me, because Dick AND bruce found him once when he was 9. this is what I mean by rushed; the writer put all the things he can find common between them (Superhero father, Relationship with Damian) to try and build emotion between them, the art also tries hard to show the emotions but it still doesn't work. Since young Jon work well his instant age up leads to messy rushed storyline and emotions.
For a moment I thought about buying this number, until it became an emotional fanfic.
Incredibly, it wasn't that bad until Dick decided to treat Jon like a moron. Dude you can't treat a young man who is already exploring his sexuality in such a childish way, it's not Damian. Such a forced interaction.
The art is really good.
The first thing to say is that I hate having to read a completely different title to get the first (or any other) part of a story. It is a disease that has long afflicted comics. It's even more of a problem when that other title is as bad as Nightwing #89.
This issue is as dull as the previous one. I think this might be the comic that finally persuaded me to give up on modern DC. I'll just get on with reading all of the Legion of Super-heroes from the 1970s-1990s; New Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez; post-crisis Superman and Batman etc. Those were good comics, but this isn't.
The whole Dick giving Jon a Lolipop situation was super weird. I really don’t understand how DC hasn’t canceled this book yet.
Super Sons are Damian and Jon, not Dick.
Garbage!
Sales not in the top 50! Taylor can lie all he wants but eventually the truth always comes out. -10 rating.
