In this issue, the team of Superheroes learns the strength of a unified team and gains resiliency from an unexpected helper.

This story is about optimism, perseverance, and heroism as Superman must overcome a longtime foe even while he faces a new threat.

Superman courageously defeats his foes while Lex Luther has an encounter with Oz that reveals his intentions for all humanity!

The book ends leaving the reader with great anticipation for the story to unfold. Oz comes out of the flames confronting Superman that he should have known better, These people dont deserve you. Oz transports them to the Fortress of Solitude so that they can talk. Superman charges Oz with being responsible for the chaos and evil. Oz states that he simply presented the people with options and they chose evil and mayhem. (SPOILER ALERT!) Oz reveals himself as Supermans Father. Oz tells him briefly about his escape and then reinforces his belief that he sent Kal-El to the wrong place. The book ends with Oz saying, I am Jor-El The story is emotionally satisfying, its rooted in real-life dilemmas while still feeling like a Superman story. The art is beautiful and the cliffhanger at the end was awesome!

The story arc will need to advance or branch out to keep reader's interest.

What was the purpose of Superman's encounter with Jor-El? A filler story or a set up to Doomsday Clock? Is something big coming? Was Jor-El telling the truth? What remains clear is Superman's resolve to defend earth against whatever threat might be looming and this is the best thing possible for its inhabitants.

Who can we trust? What can we trust? These questions are compelling and do much to increase my interest as a reader.

I have no idea where this story is going, which increases the intrigue.

The most compelling part of this story is the parallel created between Superman and Lois as both search for their fathers.

At times the action felt frenetic and chaotic, but Booster Gold is what made this issue interesting.

The pairing of Booster Gold and Superman really works. Their competing goals highlights the differences in the two. Booster protects time; Superman is ready to fight injustice at every turn.

The story moves quickly, is action-packed and ends with a cliffhanger. The battle between Superman and Zod's family is entertaining and perilous. By the end Superman and Booster are in real danger.

It feels like this character is treading water until May when Bendis takes over.

The story does a nice job connecting all of the story arcs in the most recent Superman and Action books which involved Jor-El, the conflict with Zod on New Krypton, and General Lane's return. In addition, the story provides closure for these story arcs that were not always very engaging as a reader.

Action Comics 1000 is a historic event, such a big event that it can't be told by just one person. This issue is a collection of some of DC's latest and greatest in writing as well as some of the classics. Each story is their own one-shot and contained continuity. It's full of fun easter eggs, amazing art, and emotion filled stories.

Bendis and Epting add an entirely new aesthetic to Superman without changing the core aspects of the character. He is honest but more personal, more involved, and more available to readers than ever before. I highly recommend this amazing story to fans of this iconic DC super-hero!

I'm warming slowly to this Superman crime-noir event involving Leviathan. Superman appears to be out of his element and struggling to keep pace with Lois as she uncovers the power-players involved. Will Superman play an integral role? More importantly, will Lois unravel the masterminds behind this large criminal organization? We will see. I highly recommend this story to fans of the crime-noir genre and Superman.

Action #1000 was a celebration of Superman, his history, his character, and what he represents as a iconic superhero. This special issue is also a celebration of Lex Luthor.

The writer pays attention to the need to help new readers catch up to the Super-Sons ongoing narrative which leads to a slow start. However, the issue picks up steam when The Gang confronts the Super-Sons. I'm excited about where this story is headed and recommend this book to DC fans.

The book ends on a cliffhanger, which is caused, in part, by Damian's attempts to fix their situation. Tomasi plays off some long-standing Superman lore in the final dilemma, and the outcome of the secret ally is still uncertain. What makes this book so good is the way Tomasi set up intrigue and expectation for the future of this story. I recommend this book to adults and children and for fans of the Super-Sons due to the art and the cliffhanger at the end of the issue.

SuperBoy is split in two, a Red and a Blue version. Robin must convince them to work together so that they can defeat a group of alien kids who idolize earth's greatest villains.

This issue felt like a return to form for this series because Robin and SuperBoy were on a mission, facing incredible odds, and only their ingenuity and strength to pull them through.

The Super-Sons has taken a while to take off and capture my interest the way the previous stories did. However, Tomasi has engaged the readers with a story that is relevant for our generation: Pay attention to the message and the messaging. Historically, magic has proved to a be a formidable opponent for Superman and proved to be a tough opponent for Super-Boy in this issue. Thankfully, Jon has Damian who is grounded and focused on the evidence to keep them on track. I highly recommend this story to young and old readers alike.

The Adventures of the Super-Sons has been a slow build. However, this most recent twist, introducing the Wonder Machine's power to show future versions of the heroes and its belonging to another interested party adds to the nuance of the story. Damian and Jonathan are in very real danger as they must first escape the prison-planet they are imprisoned on and then get back to earth. I highly recommend this fun adventure about these endearing characters.

This story is starting to hit its stride as Damian's skill as a trained assassin takes center stage. Jonathan finds the courage and strength to aid in his own rescue, but it's Robin's quick thinking that sets them up for their confrontation with Rex and attempted escape from Takron Galtos. I highly recommend this book to fans of DC comics and the Super-Sons!

There was a time when Super Sons was a must read and the highlight of my stack. However, the current story arc does not grab my attention. There has been no growth in either Robin's or Super boy's characters, and they consistently get muddled in dilemmas that feel unimportant. Having said that, if you are a fan of these characters pick up the book because they still feel like the Super Sons that we have grown to love.

This issue felt like a return to form for this up-and-down maxi-series. The heroes were invigorated by the presence of AI-X, and the stakes were elevated by Rex's arrival at earth. I am interested in seeing how this story resolves itself as it enters the final stretch. I highly recommend this book to fans of Robin and Super Boy.

Robin and Super boy develop leadership skills and valued experience in this unforgettable space-adventure. I highly recommend this issue and would advise readers to catch up on previous issues before this 12-issue maxi-series comes to its conclusion.

This issue was the most enjoyable one in this current 12-issue maxi series due to the action leading toward a definitive end. The Super-sons are at their best when their backs are to the wall. Damian is more ruthless, and Jonathan's powers are highlighted, but mostly, they remain consistent as the good-hearted superheroes. I highly recommend this book to fans of the Super-sons and DC Comics.

This series has been a frolicking, romp-through-space adventure for the Super-Sons. In this final issue, Tomasi builds in a narrative that both ties up the loose ends in this series and sets up the potential for future stories. I highly recommend this issue and the entire series for fans of Jonathan and Damian.

This story is about Alfred's past mentorship with Briar and how it impacts his current connection with Batman.

The story transitions back to the present; Alfred and Batman embrace. Alfred asks, Have I been a good father? He wonders whether he has made a life for Bruce where he can be the hero, be adventurous, learn tough lessons, and always have a home to come back to. The questions resonate for the reader given the context of self-sacrifice and loyalty demonstrated by Alfred. From a fathers perspective, Have I done enough is a question most loving fathers ask themselves when thinking about their children.

Kelly Sue DeConnick sets the stage for a mysterious and heartsy limited-series about Aquaman, who is the outcast of the Justice League, in many ways. His kingdom is separated from most of the DC universe mainline stories and Arthur hasn't played a strong leadership role on the team very often. However, DeConnick appears to understand the heart of this character and what makes his world interesting. I highly recommend that fans of DC comics and Aquaman pick up this issue.

A final twist at the end brings an amazing conclusion to an exciting book. Cyborg is stepped on by a large creature. Its unclear who exactly this is at first. However, as the story quickly progresses, we see the members of the Dark Multiverse, which were revealed in Metal 2, appear! Connections are not made between The Joker and these characters; however, their appearance resembles The Joker in the mouth area. The story is amazing as it weaves from one dimension to another pulling the Father-Son theme throughout. The art is gorgeous. I am excited to learn where this story goes after this amazing installment!

This is a coming of age story with important implications on larger macro-level systems that teach boys that survival is about physical combat versus higher values like compassion or self-sacrifice. I highly recommend this story to young boys, parents, and fans of the coming-of-age genre of comic books.

This is a fast-paced story, with plenty of twists and turns that is both engaging and thought-provoking for the reader. The art is gorgeous and supports the story throughout. I highly recommend this issue, and the entire 4-part mini, to readers who enjoys relationship stories within the context of magic, mysticism, and haunted buildings.

Crime noir stories are prevalent in comics and other media making it difficult to distinguish stories from each other. Cullen Bunn develops a uniqueness to his story by including elements of fantasy and horror in this tale involving a family-run criminal organization. I highly recommend this book to fans of Cullen Bunn and crime-noir stories.

Cullen Bunn is building a family crime drama with compelling themes and a felt-sense of importance. He masterfully builds intrigue with his unsanctimoniousness treatment of characters whose lives are controlled by a foreign substance and the financial advantages it brings. I highly recommend this story to fans of Collen Bunn and those who love a good mystery.

If it were all about the art and nothing else, I'd rate this book much higher. Aaron Conley's whimsical and cartoon-like art is magical, exuberant, and fun. The emotions are felt and seen, which greatly increases the enjoyability for the reader. The story is very straightforward and predictable, which takes away from the enjoyability of the book. I do recommend readers to pick up the book for the art. It's so good.

Despite the story lacking depth, I recommend that readers grab this book because the art is amazing. It's not common to find characters and settings drawn in this exaggerated manner that brings the whole story to life.

The Bully Wars has been a fun-filled romp, with a few twists, with a nice message. The story provides insight into the idea that we can overcome our weakness if we can find common ground with others. I highly recommend this book as a coming of age tale for young people.

I highly recommend this book to fans of Captain Marvel.

The story is full of twists like Pilot being the enemy and then not being the enemy, and finally becoming the representation of the enemy that manipulates the protagonists to pursue their goals for them. The motivations and goals of the protagonists are clear throughout even if the enemy's motivation and goals shift and are less obvious. The fluid nature of the enemy makes for an interesting read and makes me want to stick with the story. I highly recommend picking this up if you are a fan of fantasy and post-apocalyptic survival stories.

The art is strong and supports the pace of the story throughout. The story is strong because it provokes thought. The moral of the story is intriguing: mankind will do anything for his best friend.

This story is my pick of the week because of Christopher Priest's expert storytelling. He injects pertinent backstory while also advancing the plot making this story compelling and feeling important. I highly recommend this book for fans of both Deathstroke and The Teen Titans.

Priest writes a fitting end to an interesting story that began with the capture of a villain but may have created a new one in the process. I highly recommend this story for fans of the Teen Titans and Damian Wayne.

If you ever wondered what superpowers Deathstroke possess or what his greatest attribute is, you learn about it in this issue. Deathstroke's children suffer as they struggle to make sense, assign blame, and hold accountable the one guilty for his death. I highly recommend this story for fans of Deathstroke and the Teen Titans.

This issue builds on the suspense of this story arc by giving the reader an explanation for Slade Wilson's return from the dead and setting up a conflict with his son Jericho. The tie in to the Year of the Villain makes more sense in this issue then in other books due to Lex Luthor's meeting with Jericho. It appears that Deathstroke could have a larger part to play in Luthor's overall plans. I encourage fans of Deathstroke to jump on this book.

This issue felt like a return to form for Detective Comics and Batman. The story drilled down into some of the qualities that make Batman loved by many. The art showed in great detail the evidence as Batman and Gordon pursued a mysterious new threat to Gotham City. This is a wonderful time for Batman and a great time to jump on board Detective Comics because of the new art team that will lead this property toward issue #1000!

Detective Comics has been injected with new energy since the change in creative teams. Tomasi utilizes Batman's extensive gallery of character to make this story feel grounded in the lore yet mysterious and fresh.

Tomasi is building the story to a boiling point as Batman faces his most dangerous villains while protecting his greatest allies. It's interesting that the story is built around Batman protecting those he loves while employing all of the skills that his mentors taught him so he can save their lives. I highly recommend this story for fans of Batman and DC.

Detective Comics is marching toward #1000 with Batman on a deadly version of a scavenger hunt: Who is responsible for creating the monster? Is it a villain? Who is the monster? Batman? I encourage readers who love Batman and DC to jump on board this series.

This issue begins a new story arc for Detective Comics and reintroduces old characters. It's clear that The Arkham Knight intends to inflict major change in the Gotham landscape. It is yet to be revealed if he will succeed. This we know, with Tomasi at the helm, the story will be interesting and well-connected to the Batman we have known and love. I highly recommend this book for people who long to read a traditional Batman adventure book.

Long-time fans of Batman will love the amount of detective work and combatant skill Tomasi has infused in this story. Some will question Batman's vulnerability and ease with which The Arkham Knight overwhelms him in a fight. Either way, I highly recommend this wonderful book to fans of the character and DC.

This is a classic Batman mystery story with a well-trained villain. Fans of the character will love his use of superior detectives skills throughout with less emphasis placed on his brutal use of strength. I highly recommend this story to fans of Batman and the DC universe.

Batman appears to be over-matched given Astrid's strong connections to Dr. Arkham and the combat training she received after leaving The Arkham Asylum. However, will she be able to follow through on her threats or is this just another Batman villain who will bite the dust? Time will tell. I highly recommend this story to fans of the classic Batman character.

This story did very little to increase my interest in the Year of the Villain event going on in DC.

The art is the strength of this issue.

This issue is a classic Batman story that includes solid detective work and action sequences. The art is solid and the overall story fits comfortably in DC's Year of the Villain event. I recommend this book to fans of Batman and the DC universe. We'll have to wait to see how this issue fits into the larger YOV event.

This issue is another classic Batman investigation story. The twist involving Freeze, his advanced use of technology, and his connection to the larger Year of the Villain storyline is interesting. The connections to Nora's past and her battle with cancer give the issue emotional depth. I recommend this book to fans of the classic Batman stories.

This book suffered from poor artwork and an up and down story. I appreciated the author embracing Batman's detective work and his collaboration with Alfred and Lucius to find a cure to Freeze's frozen formula. However, the ending left me wanting more and wishing that the author would take more chances with Batman as a character. Still, I believe that fans of DC and Batman will enjoy this action-packed issue.

There is some fun detective-work exhibited by Bruce Wayne in this James Bond - like mystery story. Despite the obscurity of the villain, the combat scenes were top-notch! I recommend this story for Batman fans who enjoy old-fashioned Bang, Bam, Boom! Batman stories.

This issue is about a collaboration of heroes who fight a sinister robot who is stealing time. To win they must learn from their past and work together as a team.

Flash faces an old enemy who threatens his relationship with Iris, his role as a father, and his future as the Flash

The Flash and Thawne are locked in a fight to the death, spanning across both time and space with Flash intent on killing the Reverse Flash

This issue is about Barry facing the consequences of prioritizing The Flash over his family and his career.

The art is gorgeous and the story is emotionally meaningful. The story expresses themes of loss, grief, and recovery throughout. Kristens recovery from the loss of her family, her sharing her story with Barry seemed to empower him and give meaning to the story. Similarly, Ramseys story of overcoming a significant health diagnosis to let Flash know that hes aware of the Flashs most recent damaging effects on Central City is equally impactful. The book ends with a cliffhanger as Flash faces off against Bloodwork in Central City. I am excited to see how Flash overcomes his guilt and learns how to use his new power set to defeat Bloodwork!

Im not sure how I feel about The Flash continuing the connection he has to the negative speed force. However, this story sets up some interesting storylines moving forward. I like that Wally is set to mentor Barry and that they repaired their relationship. It will be interesting to see how Kid Flash helps The Flash with his connection to the negative speed force. It might take Barry a while to restore his relationship with Iris. And, his CCPD partner, Kristen, could remain upset with Barry, which would make for an interesting work environment. I can hardly wait for the next story arc to see some of these storylines develop.

The story advances the narratives which began in the previous arc, Negative, with one big exception. Barry makes progress learning how to use his new powers when he's connected to the negative speed force.

The panels are beautifully drawn and colored, and the story has a weightiness. Porter draws an amazing Flash, with lightning bolts aptly applied. The expanse of the world, including the depiction of the portal, is gorgeous.

What excites me is that the story has removed the Negative Speed Force from The Flash. How did she do this? Not sure. However, the relief gained by Meenas separating The Flash from his connection to the Negative Speed Force far out ways the skepticism surrounding how she tricked Barry so easily. While this is far-fetched, I dont care. Thank you for returning The Flash to his original power set! It interests me to see The Flash moving forward with a connection to only the Speed Force and how he breaks free from Meenas control!

Meena's telling The Flash's that he has unresolved mommy issues is spot on.

As Flash stories go, this one is by the numbers, which isn't a bad thing if you love the character.

Despite the repetitive nature of this issue, I really enjoyed the story. Captain Cold is perhaps my favorite Rogue's Gallery adversary of The Flash.

This was the most enjoyable Flash book since Rebirth started.

This is an entertaining, fast-paced and meaningful story. We are left with several cliffhangers. Has Barry lost his powers for good? Is Wall West set up as the new Flash?

The art in this issue is gorgeous; the lightning bolts, and fast-motion speedster art never gets old for me.

The art in this issue was different from what the typical artists, Howard Porter or Carmine Di Giandomenico, would produce. However, I really enjoyed it because it was gritty and blunt and fit the emotional themes of the book.

This issue begins with Gorilla Grodd accuses Barry of having self-seeking motives for being The Flash. His team of speedsters confronts Barry for his selfishness. However, the team of speedsters unite as family to oppose Grodd's control of the Speed Force and Central City

In this issue, The Flash and his team of speedsters fight Gorilla Grodd to save Central City from the Negative Speed Force. Meanwhile, a new enemy from the 25th century is waiting in the wings to confront the already stressed speedsters.

In this issue, The Flash acknowledges his flaws but is willing to accept the support of his speedster family to overcome them. Iris West and Barry Allen have a heart to heart talk while Avery returns to the New Justice League

Overall I would recommend picking up this book. It provides a nice introduction to the coming Flash Wars and sets up the tension between the characters. Overall rating = 8/10

Conflicts and misunderstandings increase to a boiling point. The issue starts in the future with Barry and Wally in an angry confrontation? I am very interested in how this story gets to that point.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves The Flash character and to those who want to know more about Rebirth, which this issue starts to address.

Howard Porter's art remains gorgeous. He does such a great job drawing the lightning and The Speed Force, which greatly enhances the enjoyability of the book for me. The tension in the story is created through Wally's willingness to do anything to save his family. Fans of The Flash know that this is a failed, albeit honorable, motive. The curveball comes with the introduction of the new powers.

The story moves at a dizzying pace, with emotions flying high with multiple characters and a lot of time-travel in between.

This is a good issue with nice historical data included with nice art, however, it felt like a summary issue, and it didn't advance the characters significantly. The most entertainment value for me is the exploration of Wally West and where he stands coming to grips with the loss of time travel. Barry's guilt for hurting his family is ground well-traveled; however, this felt different because we see it through the eyes of Iris. The future of Kid Flash and his decision to focus his energies on the Teen Titans is an interesting way to advance that character and gives him room to breathe. I highly recommend this story because it is a nice history lesson to new readers and to fans of The Flash.

I'm excited to see Iris entrenched and back in Barry's world. The book feels like it has more depth with her involved because of the history she has with Barry and her lost and returning memories of the pre-Flashpoint world. The biggest questions created by this issue are: How much will Central City change by the new forces and how much more will Barry and Iris remember about their past?

This book has kept the Rebirth itch scratched as it seems to be moving toward an explanation of the time lost narrative that was introduced by Rebirth two years ago.

Williamson continues to shine as he skillfully weaves emotional depth into each character and creates organic relationship dilemmas that feel earned. I highly recommend this book for fans of The Flash, however, the story has some work to do before it piques my interest in the newly introduced forces, which were first revealed in The Justice League story arc. Williamson will no doubt find a creative way to not only introduce The Sage Force in the next issue but how will it impact The Flash!

The art in this issue does not make up for the number of incomplete story lines and overall cluttered feeling that this book provided. While I normally love the emotional and relational themes that Williamson includes - not even Iris' central involvement in this story could make up for the poor storytelling. Having said this, I'd recommend this book because it's the first appearance of The Sage Force, which stands to be a central part of this story arc.

This is an entertaining story with many twists and turns. Emotionally, this was less convoluted with fewer references made to Barry's longstanding regrets.

This issue was one of my favorites since the Gorilla Grodd stuff a couple months ago. I enjoyed that the story connected Barry back to what energizes him and gives him purpose: The Speed Force. In addition, it was emotionally satisfying to see Barry resolve conflicts with characters and focus his attention on a new mission with Iris going along as his partner. I can hardly wait to start this new story arc and to see what Barry learns about The Speed Force. I highly recommend this book for all fans of The Flash as it is emotionally satisfying and action-packed.

The Flash storyline has been resuscitated from a stupor caused by over-reliance on tropes and themes that have been overly-explored in his recent books. The storytelling of Joshua Williamson has always had deep emotional connections between characters that feel organic and earned. However, in this current arc, Williamson is putting The Flash in the position of being a student of The Speed Force and has included Iris as an equal partner in the venture. I'm excited to see what they learn together and how it will impact the character moving forward.

The Force Quest story arc has been entertaining and has breathed new life into The Flash book by placing Iris in the center of the story. In addition, the author is making strides to weave the discovery of The New Forces into The Flash's history. Jump on board this exciting and beautifully rendered story of The Flash.

The story moves and doesn't get bogged down in the emotional gunk that plagued The Flash in previous stories. Instead, the writer taps into new characters to infuse meaning in the conflict and flush out the importance of the conflict to the human race. On this point, I am especially interested in Fuerza's character and if she's here to stay, and how she will continue to wield The Strength force to help others. I highly recommend that fans of The Flash pick up this book to see what new fact is learned about the new Forces.

The Force Quest story arc has maintained my interest throughout because it takes the time to build on the dynamic between Iris and Barry. It also furthers The Force Quest and makes the reader more familiar with the differences between these new Forces. I highly recommend this issue for fans of The Flash and DC comics.

This is a highly entertaining and beautifully constructed issue that leads to a huge cliffhanger. What connection is there between The Force Quest, Hunter Zolomon, and other happenings in the DC Universe? I'm not sure, but this issue teases an impending conflict between The Force Wielders that could rattle the foundations of The Multiverse itself! I Highly recommend that fans of DC and The Flash grab this book and the previous issues in The Force Quest to stay up to date.

For readers who have been keeping up with Heroes in Crisis, this story could be welcoming and serve to pull together loose ends. Some readers, those who have dismissed Heroes in Crisis, will struggle to find a reason to read this 4-part mini. I am of the former and thoroughly enjoyed this book for its emotional base and tension-building action. I highly recommend picking up this book!

This was one of my personal favorites when it comes to DC comic book stories in the past year. Joshua Williamson really excels at plumbing the emotional depths of characters as he does here when flushing out The Tricksters origins as an abused child. I highly recommend this story to anyone interested in The Flash and who appreciates stories that could be useful for children to read, as well.

This issue provides a strong second installment of the current arc because it propels the story forward and provides the reader with interesting cliff hangers. Specifically, Barry must locate The Trickster and find out how he was able to gain control of Central City during his absence. I highly recommend this book to fans of The Flash and of DC Comics.

This story is building in tension as The Trickster intensifies his hold on Central City. Barry has been put on his knees by his latest rogue-villain and he lacks the support of his friends Iris and Kid Flash to rescue him. How will he outsmart The Trickster and find a way to release Central City from his grasp? I can hardly wait to find out. I highly recommend this book for fans of The Flash and DC comics.

The mystery surrounding the character in the final panel and their connection to The Still Force propels this story toward The Flash Year One story, which begins in the next issue. I highly recommend long-time fans of The Flash to jump on board this wonderful book!

The Flash's origin story, both as a person, and as a hero are revisited in the initial issue of the Year One story arc. However, Barry runs into a big surprise at the end of the issue when he ends up a long ways away from present-day Central City in his city which is now occupied by strangers! I highly recommend this story for fans of The Flash!

This is a fun story that sets up some interesting coming of age dilemmas for young Barry Allen. Will he make different choices in his relationship with Iris and his use of The Speed Force now that he's been mentored by his future self? Only time will tell. I can hardly wait to see how Barry Allen's life will change moving forward.

This issue is emotionally hard-hitting and satisfying because The Flash follows his mother's words of encouragement. He is courageous and runs toward the battle but will he succeed? I can hardly wait to see how The Flash out-duels King Turtle and his minions in the next issue!

This is an amazing short story and a wonderful sendoff to The Year of the Villain.

This book represents the first material attempts to confront several important issues since the start of Rebirth.

Joshua Williamson is striking on all 8 cylinders in this book that works as a story while adding incredible depth to the characters. This story fills in gaps created by the events of Heroes in Crisis while pushing a new threat to the forefront, one which The Flash will fight throughout 2019! I highly recommend this book to the fans of DC and The Flash.

This is an entertaining and thought-provoking book with beautiful art. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy horror and mysticism mixed with some powerful lessons about how humans treat each other. It speaks of the danger associated with greed while overlooking the blessings that might be hidden right in front of our faces. I highly recommend this book for stories and not a few grown men.

The story presents a unique approach to Judge Dredd who has traditionally presented a stoic and rigid ideal: Judge Dredd serves the law. When the law fails to protect people Judge Dredd must decide if he will remain true to the law or protect people. I highly recommend this book to fans of Judge Dredd and the science fiction genre.

I loved this issue! Rucka does an amazing job connecting the human element of each character and appeals to the heart throughout. The story is strong and intriguing, specifically, surrounding the virus that appears to be impacting the citizenry. I'm excited to see how Lois and Renee unpack this mystery and save the people of Metropolis.

This was one of my favorite books of the week, if not my pick of the week. I have a love for crime noir and for crime dramas to have a realistic criminal element. The bloody crime scenes mixed with the brutal violence displayed by The Martian Manhunter in his former reality paint a harsh picture of J'onn's reality. He is torn by his belief that he is not a good person while he works a job where he fights crime to make the world a better place. I'm sure a lot of readers can relate to this dilemma, and it makes for a compelling premise for this story. I highly recommend this book to fans of The Martian Manhunter and of DC comics.

The second installment of this book continues to shine due to the interesting and unique nature of Nancy Drew as a character. In addition, her supporting cast all are given important roles and minor story arcs of their own. The dialogue is sharp and interesting while the main point of the story is solidly grounded in the Nancy Drew lore developed in the books near a century ago. I highly recommend this book to readers looking for socially relevant character work minus superhero shenanigans.

The pace of the story is perfect, paying close attention to the relationships within the team, bolstering Nancy's story, while moving the murder mystery aspect along.

The action moves fast but remains connected emotionally but what increases the intrigue in the story is Nancy's perception and skilled investigator work. For example, Nancy correctly perceives that the police chief is colluding with Locke in his criminal endeavors. Thompson increases the anticipation of next month's issue by placing Nancy as a prime suspect in a crime! I highly recommend jumping on board this fun yet compelling series.

Like another famous writer/artist team, Brubaker and Phillips, Bendis and Gaydos return to familiarity in all the right ways. The noir is expected but not predictable. The intrigue is built through brilliant thematic plot development at the individual character level. If you like street-level crime dramas, you will love this book!

Each character is constrained by both compassion and coercion which makes the story interesting. Mr. Mike shows a change of heart apologizing for putting Pearl in an impossible predicament as the Yakuza clan's assassin. They travel to Japan to convince the families that they have things under control. Do they? I can hardly wait to see how this story continues in the next issue!

This story has been a how-to by Bendis and Gaydos on how to build a world with interesting characters and a compelling backstory.

This is a story with an engaging premise, young heroes fighting incredible odds, at odds with each other. It will be interesting to see if the writer can expand on that premise and inject some life into a story that is stagnating a bit. Still, I recommend this book to young readers.

I highly recommend this book to readers who like reality-based comics that don't shy away from the display of real emotions and dilemmas.

This issue is about a group of young heroes becoming a team and an elderly Magician learning a timeless lesson about impure motives.

The story ends with Damian and Jon discussing the evidence that theyve collected and what it means. Damian concludes that they should stay near the village and that Kraklow is the key. Jon surmises that Kraklow hid the ancient clay on earth when they fought him. This is an entertaining story, with lots of action, which keeps the reader's interest to the end. The emotional stakes are high as the relationship between the young heroes remains snappy and interesting to the final page. How will these young heroes defeat a host of enemies that include a planet and an ancient wizard? This review is heavy on summary and needs more analysis, dont you think?

The zeal and heroism demonstrated by Superboy and Robin are contagious and energizes this story.

This story is a must read for DC fans. It connects with story lines that are currently in development in Detective Comics and Superman. In addition, the story advances the ongoing relationship dynamics between Damian and Jonathan, and, Damian and the Teen Titans.

The art is gorgeous throughout. Specifically, the way they capture Damian and Jonathan is attuned to the emotions they are feeling in the moment.

As far as character development, the dialogue between Damian and Jonathan continues the continuity set in previous issues. Damian is planning and leading; Jonathan is working hard to fit in. What this issue adds, and what is most entertaining, is Damian's connection to the League of Assassins.

I highly recommend this book to readers.

In this action-packed story, Robin and Superboy fight Kid Amazo who plans to utilize the power of the Justice League to achieve his goals.

The art in this book was amazing. For example, Detective Chimp was drawn with detail especially in the face area and the colors were vivid. It would be nice to see him pop up again in the main story arc. However, outside of Detective Chimp, the other Super-Pets did not make a spectacular showing in this book.

In this issue, the Kent family takes a vacation from superhero work while identifying the true heroes and the values that motivated them. While the book surfaces many important issues facing our treatment of war veterans and those who've made sacrifices it misses the mark in other ways.

This story shows how Superman and his family put their feelings of compassion and empathy to work to help provide closure for a grieving family.

In this issue, Superman investigates the disappearance of dozens of children and discovers two villains.

The conflict in the story involves Parallax, Superman, and Sinestro. However, Superman correctly identifies fear as the greatest enemy for everyone. Superman uses his courage and willingness to show compassion, even towards his enemies, as a springboard to speak out against letting fear rule. The story comes full circle as Superman watches his son, Jon, sleeping safely in his bed. Ultimately, the story felt detached from whats been happening in this book since Rebirth which limited its impactfulness. The art was beautiful and the story involved, historically, three very interesting characters. The overall message, to make choices daily to overcome our fears, is an important one in our day and time.

We're intrigued to know more about Deathstroke when he demonstrates having knowledge of Cestus, who vanishes into thin air after the fight, by stating that he'll be back with stronger men next time.

The story was compelling throughout because it taught us how our beliefs play a huge role in how we act.

Given the recent Action Comics and previous Superman story arc, it's nice to see an old-fashioned superhero story that is not bathed in current events.

The story ends with Jonathan surrounded by a group of dog-wielding armored men who threaten to capture and eat him. Jonathan easily smashes his way through the group; however, the story ends with the group of men chasing him toward the edge of a cliff. As he flies off the cliff, the villains yell, Theres nowhere to run on Apokolips. Perhaps a play on words as Jonathan was flying off the cliff? The interesting part of this exchange is that Jonathan cannot fly. Has Jonathan demonstrated a different power set on Apokolips then he did on earth? Or, is he demonstrating a permanent sign of maturity gaining the power to fly at a very opportune moment? I can hardly wait to see how this story advances Superman as Imperius, Jonathan and his new powers, and Lois as the newest member of the Female Furies.

The courage of Super Boy maintains me throughout this story. Will this be a coming of age moment for Super Boy?

The apocalyptic nature of the story with the future of a planet at stake felt weighty enough and important enough for a character as powerful as Superman.

This is a must-read issue as it connects to storylines that are developing in Detective Comics currently. It reads as impactful and not just a throwaway, like some tie-in issues can.

This all-ages book is beautifully drawn and the colors brighten this already inspiring story.

Ultimately, I would not recommend picking up this book. The exposition is clunky and paint-by-numbers. There is very little about the story that engages the reader. The characters do not advance, and, even the new characters are given motivations that are boring and played out. This issues feels like a filler.

Going into this book, I anticipated that this would be a filler issue and that it wouldn't be very interesting. However, the Bizarro-connection drew me in, as well as Kathy and Jonathan's friendship

I would highly recommend this book as a nice deviation to the typical superhero stories being told.

In this issue, the Kent family says goodbye to Hamilton county after selling their home. Superman gives some life lessons to his son while remember the lessons his own father gave to him.

The art was more cartoony in a jagged way, which fit the story. I highly recommend this issue for the messages it provides and the example it gives of Superman's value system.

This issue has incredible depth but doesn't get bogged down by emotional themes. The writer keeps this balance by infusing light-hearted dialogue and fluffy action sequences to lighten the tensions. However, the importance of the underlying themes are not lost and stick with you as a reader. The opening epilogue is almost boastful in its description of Superman, I feel, intentionally. The cracks in the Man of Steel are widening; I'm not sure that Superman is aware of them yet. I highly recommend this book to those who love Superman and the DC.

This story is straightforward in some ways, complex and deep in others. The earth is in the Phantom Zone and Superman has to get it out and defeat Rogol Zaar, pretty simple. However, intrigue is created by the unknown, who did it? How will Superman save the earth, because I assume that he will? More importantly, why does Rogol need an army to defeat Superman? The cliffhanger would imply that he will get one. I highly recommend this book to fans of Superman who want a superhero story that is not paint-by-numbers.

This story continues to grow in complexity as Bendis adds layers to the Rogol Zaar character and pulls in characters from Superman's rich history. One can only hope with great anticipation that Bendis will be able to stick the landing when this conflict blossoms to full impact as this story arc inches toward its conclusion.

This is an immensely entertaining and heartfelt issue. Bendis tells a story that is uncluttered, values-driven, and action-packed. The final panel sets up compelling questions: Did the team successfully pull the earth from The Phantom Zone and will Superman defeat Rogol Zaar? I highly recommend that fans get on board with this story.

Superman, historically, has embraced Lois Lane, not just as a plot device but as a meaningful and unreplaceable part of his history. This story restores Lois to her rightful place in the narrative because Superman is shown relying on Lois to overcome the challenge of a lifetime. Bendis is the perfect writer for Superman at this time because he's willing to explore deep emotional connections between characters, and he is courageous enough to follow through on the story regardless of the outcome. What will happen to Superman by the end of his showdown with Rogol? I'm interested, and I bet, if you're a fan of Superman, you are too.

This issue continues the long-running battle between Rogo Zaar and Superman. Extensive times has been devoted to this battle and the outcome is still questionable. I have no idea how this will be resolved; I know that Superman has a group of heroes around him that will keep him focused on what's important. And, as of right now, Rogol is in The Phantom Zone and Superman is not. I recommend that everyone who loves Superman and DC to pick up this book.

Superman has become the most anticipated comic book in my stack since Bendis took over. The story is emotional yet action-packed and meaningful. It feels like we are going somewhere important with this iconic character and the mystery surrounding this journey increases the intrigue with each new issue.

Bendis is building the foundations of a cool "Jonathan Kent return to Earth" story. My guess is that this arc will be devoted to acclimating the reader to Jonathan as a teenager and showing the adjustments Clark and Lois have made to accept this huge change in their son.

Even though I'm not interested in The Crime Syndicate as a concept, I trust the story in the hands of the writer Brian Michael Bendis. The foreshadowing of a possible unified moment for the Justice League, the larger DC Universe, including The Zod Family is an interesting tidbit and piques my interest.

This issue connects Jonathan Kent's travels, the reasons he aged quickly, with the larger Rogol Zaar story which has been taking place in the Superman book. It is emotional and intense and sets up yet another conflict with this ancient nemesis. I highly recommend this book to fans of DC and Superman.

This story begins to pull together the story threads initiated issues ago with the appearance of Jor-El, then Rogol Zaar, Jonathan's disappearance and return. Good stories are built on good premise; however, it's the ending that people will remember. Can Bendis stick the landing? We'll see. I recommend this book for fans of Superman and for its part in the weighty conclusion of these complex story threads.

There aren't any low-points in issue #1 of the Leviathan series. Bendis pulls no punches introducing readers to a list of old-school DC criminals mixed with a new face or two. The mystery surrounding Leviathan grows, the peril increases as Superman is over-matched by this group of criminals who are really good at being criminal. I highly recommend this story for readers who are looking for a fresh Superman story.

Each duo tackles a different issue around important issues like identity, managing emotions, overcoming past loss, and trusting each other. I highly recommend this book to fans of this genre of books and for fans of the Teen Titans.

This issue begins a new crossover event between Teen Titans and Deathstroke. It sets the stage for Robin and Kid Flash to step up for the team and leaves room for the story to grow. Why Deathstroke, why now? I'm sure the next issue will reveal Damien's interest in targeting Deathstroke. I highly recommend this issue to fans of DC and The Teen Titans.

This issues represents the aftermath of The Terminus Agenda and its consequences for The Teen Titans. The most interesting battles come from inner conflict and disagreements among team members. This issue cleverly handles this dilemma and prompts readers to feel the weight of Damian's decisions. I highly recommend this issue for fans of The Teen Titans for its potential impact on the composition of the team moving forward.

The dark and deliberate visual aesthetic compliments the emotional tone of this book. Lobo and Crush have issues to work out. However, can The Teen Titans do anything to protect Crush from her daddy's issues? I'm excited to see how the team comes together and rises to meet their biggest challenge yet: Lobo. I highly recommend this book to fans of DC and The Teen Titans.

Teen Titans continues to be one of the best books DC is publishing currently. The exchanges between characters are emotional and authentic. The solutions are not easy to identify, which feels like real life. I highly recommend this book to fans of the Teen Titans and DC Comics.

I highly recommend this book for its portrayal of history and its memorializing of the Roebling family's sacrifice. The artistic portrayal of the family brings life to the values of the family, and it reminds us of the level of commitment that was required to build this country. In a way, The Bridge makes it acceptable to have altruistic beliefs that technological improvements have the capacity to change lives and are an important part of this country's advancement in the protection of humanity.

Superman's appearance as an unstoppable force appears to have the venire which writer's like Bendis love to tarnish - or I read Action #1000 and see where this is going. Either way, this is a nice start for Bendis and I am very intrigued where this is going.

I highly recommend this book to fans of Superman. Bendis is developing a layered an complex story that will most likely end with a huge payoff.

Bendis excels with these iconic characters as much for the large-scale threat in Rogol, as he does with the intimate exchanges between characters. I highly recommend picking up this book and the two issues that preceded it.

Bendis does a marvelous job pulling together multiple themes from his previous issues to make this story feel connected.

This is another amazing issue. The battle between Superman and Rogol Zaar is epic. Bendis does the legwork to demonstrate Rogol's power prior to this sequence, which makes the results believable. In addition, Adam Hughes' art highlights this explosive story. He uses shadows, outlines, and shading to support the emotional tone of the book, which feels to be at a panic-level for the Kryptonites. Bendis does an amazing job of pulling Jor-El back into the Superman narrative and making the character feel useful.

As soon as I heard that Bendis would write a Superman book, I knew that someone would die, go missing or change drastically. I never imagined that my view of Superman would change because I would be made aware of his weakness. It's how Bendis tells the story that kept me engaged: I believe what I've learned about the hero. Superman's lifestyle, fighting bad guys and ignoring his family has consequences. In addition, Superman's departure from Krypton at a young age means that he didn't learn about his home planet or his family's traditions. It makes sense that Jor-El would be the one to teach Jonathan. I highly recommend this book to fans of Superman and DC.

Previously in The Silencer, it was established that Honor Guest was a deadly assassin, trained by the League of Assassins. Having escaped this world, she is living a quiet family life, with a husband and child, in suburban America. Talia Al Gul interrupts Honor's peaceful retirement and forces her back to the playing field to help her.

In this issue, The Silencer relieves her past as she exits Leviathan. Talia promises her release upon the completion of one last mission. Can The Silencer ever be free from her life as an assassin and have her normal life back?

Another strong issue. The dialogue between Deathstroke and Silencer is the highlight along with the double-crossing dynamic with Talia.

I love this issue and this character because the dilemmas feel earned and interesting. The Silencer's inner monologue describes her biggest fear, that her son is safe. This drives her actions, and, it makes sense for parents. The art is beautiful: it captures the characters' facial expressions and true emotions. The action is intentional and there are no wasted steps in this dramatic issue. I highly recommend that fans of DC pick up this book.

The story of The Silencer has been one of mystery, intrigue, and fighting criminals and their organization. The street-level aspect of the story has been what's driven the plot narrative. This issue takes a hard left-turn involving monsters, magic, and switching bodies. Let's hope that The Silencer can get her own body back and get this story, which has been wonderful to-date, back on course.

This issue was better than the previous two because of its return to what makes The Silencer interesting - she's an assassin for hire who wants a normal life. The art, coloring, and panel work does some heaving lifting, grounding immense set pieces, and pulling the narrative in as the story speeds towards a climax. I can hardly wait to see how The Silencer quiets Leviathan and what is in store for this character afterward.

The Silencer has dug its way out of the rut it was in a few issues back by returning to the core narrative that started this wonderful character. The Silencer is in her element when she faces insurmountable odds, in a cloak of secrecy, with only her fighting skills to inflict her will.

This final issue ties up most of the loose ends that kept Honor Guest The Silencer. Interestingly, she takes all of her ammo and gear with her to Ohio " her family's new home. Maybe there will be room in the DC universe for a deadly female assassin and a great mother in future stories.

In this issue, Donna Troy's loyalty toward Roy Harper is tested while the Justice League is pushed to the brink by The Brain!
