• Bruce Banner is trapped inside Shadow Base Site A - powerless and hunted by their top assassin.
• He can't run forever. He can't change form. He can't survive...without THE IMMORTAL HULK.
• But not the one you think.
Rated T+
In the end, this wasnt a plot-heavy issue, but it will be held in high regard for longtime fans of the Hulk. Others may find themselves a little confused by Fixits presence, and what he means to the story, but Ewing does give a brief explanation that should keep people from being completely lost. Just when you thought a series has shown you everything, sunlight hits it and another shocking revelation emerges from this masterpiece of comic book horror. Ignore any review that regards this series as less than perfect. Even if it had flaws (which is definitely NOT this issue) they'd probably contribute to an overall arc. This is about as right as you can get a comic book. The universal praise this book achieves consistently here and elsewhere isn't hype, it's earned. Read Full Review
Immortal Hulk #17 kicks ass, but I anticipate that the next issue will be nothing less than an ABOMINATION! Read Full Review
The Immortal Hulk #17 is incredible, as is the entire series. It's perfect, and will probably remain perfect until it ends. Read Full Review
Joe Bennetts art in this issue is beautiful and brutal in equal measure. There are some visually stunning panels in this issue. Read Full Review
By the end of this issue, I'm reminded why the Immortal Hulk is so good. It's green, it's grotesque, it's great. While General Fortean doesn't really prove to be much more than a General Ross clone, the overall story is a great tale of Bruce Banner's history, character, and him at his most desperate. The Immortal Hulk #17 is really just a creative team firing on all cylinders. The writing and art all match the tone and feel of the story being delivered. They each build upon one another in fantastic ways. Immediately from the opening pages, you get a sense of tense dread as we go through the story being told. Just wonderful storytelling being done! If you are not reading The Immortal Hulk I implore you to give it a chance. Read Full Review
THE IMMORTAL HULK #17 brings back an older version of the Hulk and gives him new challenges to move this action-packed series forward. Read Full Review
Fascinating as it is Al Ewing stopped pretending that this was a horror comic issues ago. What's left is a compelling exploration of a character we all though we knew. Hard to believe but I find myself recommending the Hulk to more people all the time. Read Full Review
Even as it prepares to set up much bigger conflicts, both internal and external, Immortal Hulk never provides more than a moment to gasp while reading; confirming its status as Marvel's pre-eminent horror comic. Read Full Review
The art was epic, as it always is, but Ewings story just didnt seem to grab this fan's attention. The pacing was fast, which I like, and it wasnt too wordy. However, the stakes didnt seem very high and the issue didnt seem very important to the development of the characters as well as the series. If youve been reading IMMORTAL HULK, I would continue through this issue. However, if you havent been reading to this point, I wouldnt hop in now. However, fans should be excited for the next issue because this reviewer has a feeling it's gonna be nuts! Read Full Review
10/10. Don’t know what to say without repeating myself with all the praise for Immortal Hulk. Thought this series was a tiny bit overrated while I was reading issues 11-13 but these last 2 issues have been 10s
The reviews are all correct! We are 17 issues in and not a single one has slowed down the incredible momentum of this series. Bennett I love you! You are hands down top 5 artists I love. Hulks transformations have been eye candy in this series and this particular issue did it best. That double page spread was everything. I wanted to hang it up on my wall. So badass...10 10 10
Awesome! now I cannot wait to read the next issue !
Damn. It is amazing. The art, the style, the writing, the mood this book gives, the horror.
Simply amazing.
Wow, that was finally a very intense and interesting issue! I wish evey issue of this series was like that in terms of storytelling and pacing. It's a bit weird (maybe TOO weird), but I still pretty amazed by that and can't stop reading.
THE GOOD:
-Ooh. Great issue. This series is so consistent.
-Right from the get-go, Joe Bennett's art is unique and immersive. Way to go!
-Radioactive ants. Awesome!
-Agent Burbank is just a great villain.
-Honestly, I feel like the presence of Joe could've been explained better, but that aside, his character here was executed brilliantly.
-"Sometimes it's about the other guy being dumber." Joe's Sherlock Holmes moment was just real good.
-Oh my Jesus. That splash page.
-Ditto for the last page. God, that was awesome.
THE BAD:
-I mean there was that thing about how Joe was introduced, but aside from that, there was very, very l more
Love it.
This is still a great book.
Joe Fixit versus Bushwacker doesn't end well for the plastic man. As is typical for this series, this issue handles a straightforward fight with polish and cleverness while also peppering the proceedings with ominous foreshadowing and cool references. A few bits got too cute for me personally (the Aliens gag and Dr. McGowan talking about the "rules of the Hulk"), but I'm pretty sure the fault is in my mood rather than the material.
This issue felt more like traditional Hulk than anything before it, but it still succeeded in being just as engaging.
There is no letting up and the book is consistently great!! I'm so glad this book has picked up many more readers in the last few months which means it has secured time for Ewing to keep telling his story with some special Bennett and Mounts art.
"Groovy"
Took me ages to get to this one, but I finally did it. This issue was brilliant and Joe was nothing short of amazing.
Even better after the references explained.
This issue's comeuppance for the baddie is cathartic even though it's not as shocking as what we've seen Hulkie dish out to other foes so far in this series.
God, the ants thing.
