A parade of mistakes. It was a mistake to throw Nimrod at Krakoa without thinking seriously about how that battle would go. It was a mistake to come up with a "legal argument" against a species that boils down to "they're icky and stupid and we don't like them." It was a mistake to wheel out Dr. Gregor again and highlight how little has been done to develop her character outside of 'dead husband, hates mutants', and a mistake to include the Omega Sentinel in the same scene, up to her outright saying "I don't know why I'm here". It was a mistake to ignore what all the other X-Books have been doing in favour of 4 pages of Logan and Colossus poibtlessly nattering about the fastball special and Xavier screaming into the empty air. Ultimately, it was a mistake to hire Duggan on the X-books in the first place. His writing feels abrupt and lacking in character development, most especially the tired pantomime villains he wheels out to mug for the cameras. The sooner this is over and he can get the hell away from the X-Men, the better.

Ah, a book with an Asian female lead who never speaks. Real shocker from the (painfully white) guy who turned Lin Li into a terrorist thug and had Kwannon getting goo-goo eyes over Captain America. Just dogshit writing. Avoid like the plague.

It seems bizarre that Image trust Duggan to write a series. After "X-Men Green" and "Fall of the House of X", I'm not sure he can be trusted to take a piss without squirting himself in the eye.

Just cancel this trash already, Image.

When "Fall of X" was happening people excused this level of writing as being a result of Duggan being rushed, since editorial had moved the schedule up by a few months. Since "Fall of X" is no longer happening, and his writing is still this level of horrendous, we really have to face it: he's just a piss-poor writer, and has an unhealthy obsession with Nazi Steve.

What in the world possessed DC to bring back a talentless hack like Jeph Loeb? What editor looks at this dialogue/inner monologue pairing and says to themselves "Yeah, that's pretty good"?

The artist worked hard and deserves the few points they get for putting a shine on this infantile trash. Stay dead, for fuck's sake.

I'd love this so much better if it weren't yet another all-the-marbles, multiverse-ending SAGA. Like: if the series was our favourite heroes doing a wrestling match for charity, the way they once did an Arkham vs. Blackgate baseball match. Oh...and if the writers were writing based on actual power scales rather than the dull plot armour that lets a normie like the Joker get all the way through.

What a breath of fresh air!

You can draw the most breathtaking fight scenes in comics history, but it'll never make "You chaotic evil fart barbarian" into an acceptable taunt.

It makes no GD sense to have a character punch another character while yelling "SCIENCE!" if you didn't establish him actually doing something before he did it. Otherwise he may as well just be yelling a random word.

It's witty and charming, and the art sings. But I really couldn't care less about the space opera Kelly is building in the background, Hellgate is just this decade's Morlun, and the writing really needs to let Peter remember he had a long, rich, full life after his Uncle Ben died. May spent most of his life as his sole parent! Did she make no impact on him at all?

Impossible to say if the main characters are meant to be adult little people or children who swear like sailors. The art makes it unclear. As to the plot...it's Mike Carey, so plot there is not.

Checked this out based on the premise. Weirdly reminded me of "Fall of the House of X", and that's not a good thing. The stilted jokes, uneven pacing, art with missing backgrounds...heck, Sevy's inks are even oddly reminiscent of Lucas Werneck. Bottom line is: FotHoX suffered, a lot, because it was rushed to publication by six months, and it's obvious that the same thing is happening here. I'd advise the creative team to cool their jets and let the work breathe. No-one is going to suffer irreparable harm if the book gets delayed.

Deeply disappointed in this one. Between the awkward character posing, jarring pacing, lack of backgrounds, and panels CRAMMED with expository dialogue, vague waffling and cliches...this was a premise that could have gone somewhere, and it's sad to see it turn out so mediocre.

Reis is a very competent artist, but that "Killing Joke" reference midway through this is a cringeworthy bit of coat-tail-riding in a story that's already heavily reliant on Stephen King for tone/subject matter. I swear, the day after Alan Moore dies, Geoff Johns is going to get caught in the act trying to dig up his grave.

The writing is fine, but it's hugely let down by the vast gulf in quality between the cover and the interior art. Noto is talented at doing portraits - and even then, works well with only a particular set of facial structures - and does not do action well. Most of this book is just characters facing front, which makes it feel not unlike paper dolls, or a weird emulation of the "Archer" school of animation.

Something almost absurdly comical about a CIA spook being so out of ideas that he decides the Amazons need to have a ritual where a mother points a gun at her daughter. The opening feature was charming but King, as always, drags it down. The sooner he's fired the better.

Enh. The "oh so edgy" stylings along with the fact that this entire story is one part flashback and two parts hypothetical essentially turns it into pointless filler. DC really hasn't changed: after 90 years they're still publishing stories that turn out to be "imaginary stories".

The iffy racial politics of Waylon being turned into Croc just to make Bruce sad was problematic, but having most of the bigger Batman rogues' origins default into "Bane punched them very hard to make Bruce sad and now they all hate Bruce" is just plain stupid. Congratulations to Dragotta for making it look pretty, at least.

It's fine. Pretty funny in places, has some heart and emotional honesty in other places. It's not my thing, but I get what they were going for with it. In an industry that's still publishing Mark Millar and Garth Ennis with barely any editorial oversight, putting out something that's funny-gross instead of just gross is a win in my book. Maybe y'all need to grasp that not everything is for you.

It's a breath of fresh air - Fraction maybe oughta buy a beer for Loeb for ploughing the road so badly that anything he did to follow would feel like an improvement - but it stands up for itself as a reset of what Batman is at his core: caring, troubled, a family man, a man of the city. I also like the Alfred AI as a sly commentary on how deeply sub-par Generative "AI" is in real life, lmao

An incredibly silly comic, but at least it knows so.

I'll follow Foxe whenever he's putting together a fun team, and this is an interesting twist on the Thunderbolts dynamic. I just wish it had more room to breathe than the paltry time an event tie-in will be afforded.

A great read, that taught me a bit about Djinn. I feel like we could have benefitted from a little less setup and a bit more focus on the hero - she seems cool, but I wanted to know more on her methods and convictions. Walsh as always is amazing.

TBH, it was brave of North to pick up what could be considered a poisoned chalice - a project that was built up with months of hype only to fall flat and get swept under the rug. Seeing him offer a bit of cheeky meta-critique through Mia's impatience with Wyn is somewhat rewarding (Wyn does get gradually less sympathetic through the course of G.O.D.S. #1-8, and the final issue spotlighting him doesn't help that at all), and if this were setting up a revitalised G.O.D.S. series with North at the helm, I'd be intrigued.

Stunning and timely opening. Looking forward to seeing more.

I'm willing to give Ackerman the benefit of the doubt on this one. An anti-corporate, pro-union Tony Stark is what's needed right now.

I LOVED IT! The mix of thriller-mystery and a continuation of the twisted saga of Venom made this a must-read for me. I'm ready to fall in love all over again with my favourite gooey sweetheart anti-hero.

Mary-Jane Watson as Venom? I loved it before and I love it again. Let's fuckin' GO

So many things to love about this. The clever digs at the absurdity of the Jackpot device; the conflict compelling MJ to trust Venom, and the journey Venom has gone to being a creature worthy of that faith; the incredibly satisfying dressing-down of Paul (and implication that he's an emotional abuser maybe?); the table-turning so that now MJ is the one hiding a secret life from her partner and worrying them sick (the way Peter used to do to her); the way that even if they don't think they're friends, Venom and MJ agree at least that Spider-Man is the best. It's a treasure of a comic, the first time in years I've bought a Venom book in physical copies. I wish I could give my review 11 stars!

Good ol' reliable Al Ewing, understands a character better than anyone.

TBH, just cancel the Tom King series. Absolute WW is the best Diana book in decades.

This is a fantastic, gorgeously drawn book, and Gabe Hernandez' shitty website needs to be booted off of Comic Book Roundup. He's clearly an attention-seeking baby trying to drive traffic to his sub-par website by adding hostile reviews to popular books, and it doesn't help that he's clearly sexist and racist to boot.

So glad there's a writer at Marvel who knows the truth: there's no better Nazi than a dead Nazi!

This book continues to be stunning in its audacity and fascinating in its originality. Gabe Hernandez is a whiny clown whose "look at me look at ME" style reviews ought to be wiped from this website.

This is probably one of the best ongoing comics DC has ever published.

Stunning and heartfelt work from Deniz Camp as always, and brilliantly realised by Javier Rodriguez. This truly is one of THE books of the year.

Still one of the most stunning books on the stands.

Honestly, I think it was very sensible of Deniz Camp to take the concept of "What if there was a DC world which was naturally weighted towards darkness and evil?" and ask the follow-up question: "What if that's closer to the world we, the readers, live in?". The answers are compelling.

A stunning piece of work that draws you in like a kiss and leaves you breathless like a bear hug. Gillen, Wijngaard, Cowles and Hughes make an impressive team and they're clearly giving it their all. Cannot wait to see how this unfolds!

Stunning reveals, and Casper does the work of a giant ratchetimg up the tension and adding detail (I personally adore the image of daisies growing around Valentina as she lies in the grass). This is one of the best books of the year.

Finally, a writer I can trust with Jo Mullein (apart from NK Jemisen, obviously).

Stunning work as ever, especially in taking Jo Mullein back to her roots: the one Green Lantern who questioned authority from the start.
