This is… an OK issue. Patrick Gleason's art is certainly not the worst, but something about just doesn't feel right to me. Easily the best page of his is the lineup of bald villains. I hope to see more of them in the issues to come. The arson-themed story however, just doesn't interest me. It was the most out-of-place story in Bendis' Man of Steel miniseries, and now that its getting its own story it just doesn't capture my attention that much. The "mystery" villain, Red Cloud is yet another case of that. The secret of her identity just doesn't intrigue me. That said, Bendis' script is actually good, probably his best script yet, however this issue just doesn't do enough to overcome it's main problem, which lies in the overall plot.

A really fun, simple, but entertaining issue! Everything a Spider-Man issue should be. Nick Spencer has captured the personality and essence of not only Spider Man but all the secondary characters and artist Ryan Ottley's art compliments the script tremendously. I even loved the bonus story with art by Humberto Ramos, which as all good comics should it makes want to immediately read the next issue! Can't wait for the next issue.

Man, I am really enjoying this new Spider-Man series. Nick Spencer's characterization of Spider-Man is really quite good and his humor fits the series very well. It also has really good secondary story lines in the relationship of Peter and MJ and the issues involved with the validity of Peter Parker's academics. Also the Spider-Man rogues are written really well in this series, I can't wait to see more of them. Once again this issue leaves you with a cliffhanger that makes you sit on the edge of your seat waiting for the next issue. A really great second issue, can't wait to see where the series goes next.

This was a pretty good issue of Aquaman. I think Ricardo Fredrici's art is quite good, although it is occasionally stiff-looking as far as poses go. Abnett's script is pretty good. I definitely liked the defeat of Corum Rath and how it does not end with a giant knockout bang but an almost sad irony that ties back to the story's beginnings. The last three pages however are not that great however. I think the Metal tie in is not only too late to have a huge impact but it also feels random and out of place and the rest of the issue plays out in the same way. But that being said the rest issue was a good conclusion to the Corum Rath storyline.

I honestly think this current story arc is fairly underrated. I think the humor and the heart are the best parts of it, as it does have a bland plot and pretty boring villains. However, I think seeing the drunken and disheveled post-wedding Colossus was really fun and original. The whole Banshee thing, however, doesn't work for me. It just ended up feeling too out of place and it is odd, none of the characters pay any attention to him. I also don't like Warpath as he doesn't really do much and he feels thrown in just for a bigger lineup. And while we're at it, I have to say Dazzler is kind of obnoxious. I usually really like the character but here they make her feel like a selfish jerk who has no other layers other than being a selfish jerk. That said, the writing for Beast and Havok and Colossus is really, really good. So that's 50% of the team well-written. I would complain if the other X-Men series did any better, but alas, that may never happen. Also, excellent art. I really like the way the characters and action scenes are drawn. Overall, I would pay attention to this story arc as I see real potential for something great here.

A really excellent issue. I love the concept of a trial that essentially examines the legalities of Batman. I also really like the post-wedding Batman, who is written really, really well. As is the character for Mr. Freeze. And as always, Lee Weeks art is perfect. If I have one complaint about the issue, it's that Porky's doesn't make an appearance. Sorry. Just joking. I couldn't resist :). If I really have one complaint it's that not enough happens in this issue, it's essentially one of those issues that reads well in trade but doesn't have anything that makes it stand out. But, all in all, a really great issue that I would highly recommend.

This was overall a good issue. I think I would essentially call it the "12 Angry Men" of Batman comics. And honestly, hearing that out loud, it shouldn't work, but honestly, it does. Easily the best part of the issue is the characterization for Bruce Wayne. Plus the whole "Batman vs. Bruce Wayne," scenario actually goes a lot deeper than one might expect. Like many issues of this run of Batman, Tom King goes deeper into the psyche of Batman and several supporting characters than most other writers. I also liked Lee Weeks' art, he is probably one of the best recurring artists on the Batman run. However I'd be lying if I said Elizabeth Breitweiser's colors are actually better than the penciling. Overall, I think this story arc is one that reads better in trade, but that's only a minor issue. Still, a good issue in a great run.

All in all, I think that this issue ends up having it's strengths in the characterization of Steve Rogers. A lot of the dialogue itself is almost screaming, "I'm a Captain America comic, watch me be political!" rather than smoothly injecting politics into the story like the Russo Brothers did in Civil War. Other than that I really liked the art and it really made the action scenes feel epic. Steve Rogers' internal dialogue was really well written too. I think that Sharon Carter could use a lot more characterization and importance in the story as right now she feels like she's merely there as a love interest. But still a good issue, and a series that I still want to follow!

Dang. This issue proves Doomsday Clock is easily one of the best series on the stands. Not only is Gary Frank's art fricking incredible, but Geoff Johns' script is really, really good. This issue is definitely the grittiest to date and honestly its refreshing. A Watchmen sequel is going to need to be gritty and this issue does it. Not only that but this is one of the most tragic and emotional issues of the series thus far, Mime and Marionette's backstory proving to be deeply dark and sad. Artist Gary Frank captures the emotion of that backstory very well, by the way. And Johns' script, is really, really excellent. The puppet strings metaphor is one of the best monologues I have read in a recent comic book. Not only that, but I think this issue proves Geoff Johns needs to be writing more issues with the Joker, as he is not only hilarious but also just one of the best depictions of the character to date. All in all a really great issue that is a beautifully illustrated, emotional triumph.

Phenomenal. Just…phenomenal. One of the best single issues I have read…well, ever. This is a perfect issue. The art is by far the best of the series, with amazing, amazing penciling and coloring. This is the first issue of the series in a while where I felt like I will remember it long, long after I've read it. Most of the others just did what they were supposed to, progressing the story further and deepening the suspense, not really doing anything to stand out, but this issue. From the really creepy background art to the trippy hypnotism session (which was one of my favorite scenes I have read in any comic ever) this issue does everything to stand out, but it still does everything the other issues did, progressing the story, and definitely deepening the suspense. Also the first time in a long time I read the last page and can't wait for the next issue. I just realized the last time I was praising an issue this much, it was for the first issue of the series, so, wow, I hope the series keeps it up.

This was probably the best recent issue of Green Arrow, I will say. It still ends up being pretty forgettable, but the inclusion of material from No Justice, plus bringing Black Canary back to the series, helped the series regain some lost footing from the last two issues. The Sanctuary reference was a bit too much of a wink to me. I wish we could have more subtle foreshadowing for Heroes in Crisis like Tom King did at the end of Everybody Loves Ivy. I liked the relationship between Oliver and Roy not to mention The Citizen is the best villain the series has seen recently. My least favorite part of this issue was probably the Queen Industries scenes, which didn't really set up anything for the issue, though I have a feeling it will come into play in the next few issues, but it merely felt like filler this time around. I hope this series gets better and this issue definitely is promising.

Holy crap. What an amazing issue. I swear to God, never has a mainstream series been so different, so original, so sensational. This issue is somewhat similar to the old Batman: TAS episode "POV," wherein different characters who witnessed an event recount it to someone, each one having a slightly different take while still progressing the issue forward. This issue uses that format perfectly, almost better than anything else I've read or seen in that style. The personality and tone of each person's story is brilliantly captured, using a different artist to tell each POV, which each artist does seem to compliment their individual story very well. My personal favorite is the police officer's classic-style retelling with art by Leonardo Romero, but that's by a slim margin. All of the stories are fun, original, comedic, dark and perfect in their own way. And that's just the icing on the cake. The story itself is just as good as the first two issues' stories, being dark, tragic and powerful. Plus the end is excellent in that it foreshadows and makes you want to read the next issue very, very well.

If anything, this issue definitely proves we have found the perfect creative team for an ongoing Justice League series. My personal favorite is Jorge Jimenez's art, which is sensational. It's different enough to stand out, yet still makes the villains seem villainous, the heroes seem heroic, and the battles epic. Snyder's writing, although a hefty read, is probably worth it. His writing is always the most unique in the business and Justice League is no exception. It may not be for everyone, but it is a promising script that proves he has talent like no other.

So, uh in my review of the last issue of this series, I said that I think we have found the perfect creative team for a Justice League ongoing series in Scott Snyder and Jorge Jimenez. I'm going to take that back now that I've read this issue, as I believe James Tynion IV and Doug Mahnke are far superior. Easily the best of those two is Doug Mahnke, whose art is, in a word, incredible. I've always liked his previous works, but this issue, is one of his best. However, that's not saying James Tynion IV isn't great, because he is. He works better with the narration style storytelling than Scott Snyder and his characterization of Lex Luthor is excellent. All in all, this is exactly the kind of epic feeling I want from a Justice League issue and it ends up being the best issue in the series.

I really liked this issue. I think not only is it super satisfying to see all of DC's mystical characters and elements in one book, it is also one of the best scripted and illustrated issues of the week. Easily the best part is Alvaro Martinez Bueno's art which 100% eye candy on every page. This book is illustrated so well, I cannot even begin to express how much I loved the art. Although the first five pages were unfortunately very rushed, the issue eventually slowed down to take the time to lay out the conflicts and the threats of the forthcoming issues. Also, those conflicts are actually interesting for once mostly due to the fact that The Upside Down Man looks to be a unique and original new villain. I also really enjoyed the characters in this issue, as they are written very, very well. I don't think I've ever seen Detective Chimp written so well. Zatanna and Wonder Woman were both good, however the real show-stealer was surprisingly Man-Bat who has more heart, personality and humor than any other character in the book. Lastly I just want to say James Tynion IV's script was really, really good. I don't usually like exposition but for once he made those scenes very interesting. All in all, a great issue, one of the best of the week.

A very average issue. This issue decides to resolve its deeply emotional conflicts with a big battle, which I do have to admit was a cool battle, is kind of disappointing. It is also disappointing that Orm's story which used to be a pretty good story ends in such a dumb way. They hardly even address the relationship with his family that have built up over the previous issues, giving it only a mere page. Plus although the miniseries kind of wraps itself up, it is so unsatisfying for it basically to say, read the latest issue of Aquaman to see the story fully play out. All in all, this was a disappointing conclusion that was by far the worst issue of the series.

This is another good issue in the series. I think Tom King's writing is excellent, not to mention well-complimented by Mitch Gerad's art. This is a powerful and emotional issue. It presents tragedy and comedy together almost better than Shakespeare. If I have to be a stickler I will say the resolution to the conflict between Barda and Scott was resolved way too abruptly and quickly, but it still played out to be a good issue. This remains the only series to show Mister Miracle having a bender with Blue Beetle and Booster Gold and then perfectly transition to Scott's extremely powerful internal crisis about whether or not to give his son to Darkseid.

Overall, I thought this issue was a decent follow up to both the X-Men wedding issue and Rogue and Gambit. I think the art by Oscar Bazaldue wasn't my favorite, it looked a bit lifeless in both facial expressions and poses to me. The romance between Rogue and Gambit however is certainly not written lifelessly as writer Kelly Thompson sure knows how to make the sparks fly in a comic book. However a lot of the scenes feel like they're trying to get Rogue and Gambit as naked as possible while still keeping a T+ rating. This to me was forced and unnecessary. Also the line "Leave it to you to go right for the whip, girl." is as cringey as they get. Even commenting about it in the comic cannot fix how terrible of an innuendo and a one liner that is. That said, the end of the issue, does make me want to pick up the next one, and the series looks promising, so I won't put the rating too low.

I think that the reason this issue got the rating it got from me is mostly due to the fact that every issue of Nightwing that has recently come out makes me closer and closer to canceling my subscription. This certainly wasn't the worst issue of the series but I can't help but scream out loud due to the fact that I was so relieved the story arc was ended until I realized that although it says "Finale" under the name of the story arc, nothing ends at all. I don't care about a single one of the characters, even the main characters at this point. The art was surprisingly the best part of the issue, which is saying a lot because I wasn't a huge fan of the art. I guess the end was pretty good, and it maybe interests me a little bit, but this series recently has racked up so many sins for me, I don't think I can forgive it.

An excellent issue that is dark and really, really has an excellent story for Red Hood. I hated the art and could have cared less about the writing for the Bizarro/Artemis but thankfully that story was minimal. But it still is a bummer because it still makes me have to dock a few points, despite how much I loved the art and writing for Red Hood's story. It captures the theme and mood of the story and takes the series in a new direction I can't wait to see. The issue also has an excellent cliffhanger, which makes you really want to read the next issue. All in all an (almost) great issue. Highly recommended!

I actually really enjoyed this issue. Bendis' writing definitely still needs work but he's getting better. This is a really emotional and entertaining issue, with perfect art and an ongoing story that will definitely keep you interested.

I really enjoyed this issue. I really liked how the story may be about a superhero, but it doesn't need flashy costumes or over-the-top super villains to be a fun issue. It is a simple, human story that we can all relate to. It's emotional, bittersweet and beautiful in its own way. I really enjoyed Tony Stark's role in this issue as well. Not a huge Captain Marvel fan, but hey, maybe that's why this issue won me over.

I honestly don't get this issue. It definitely confused me more than it should have, as it sets up this dystopian world, but it doesn't really explain the dystopian world enough. I liked the characterization for the most part, but the dialogue felt off, for some reason. It just didn't feel like natural dialogue and/or phrases humans might say. Who knows, maybe that kinda stuff has changed in the future. The only reason this issue gets the rating it does is due to David Aja's masterful art. All in all, this was a muddled issue for me that had potential but never reached it.

This was overall a good issue. I really liked the way the story began with the Terrifics separated into four panels until eventually they all joined forces in some cool splash pages. Lemire's writing for these characters is excellent and they all have really great characterization. I wasn't a huge fan of Joe Bennett's art however. It wasn't the worst, it just didn't really capture the tone of the issue as well as I would have liked, but still a great issue. Keep up the good work!

This was an issue that I didn't expect to enjoy, due to some problems I had with the first issue, but in the end, I ended up liking a lot more. This series is at its strongest when it focuses on the characters, as writer Dan Slott is best at writing characters, and this issue does exactly that. It focuses on War Machine, a take that I enjoyed and hadn't seen before and Tony Stark is enjoyable as ever. Jocasta was a character I enjoyed in the first issue, and liked possibly even more than the first issue. She has some good conflicts similar to Tom King's Vision, just not that amazing or to that scale, but still, reminiscent. I'm curious to see where her story goes after the reveal relating to her at the end of the issue. Although nothing makes him stand out and he's really not that relevant (yet… there's no saying Slott doesn't have a purpose for him later in the story) I do enjoy his personality and story. Again, that's all due to Dan Slott's character writing. Bethany Cabe, however is a character that I couldn't care less about. I already know I dislike her story and the reveal with her should have been played out longer so we don't roll our eyes every time she says "I still have no idea who broke into the S.U. It would have been interesting to see what happened if we were engaged with the mystery as well, only to be shocked by the real culprit later on, but alas that is not the world we live in. I did very much enjoy the final fight scene, it was actually really well done. Valerio Schiti's art is perfect for epic fight scenes like this and this is a really good fight scene. Manticore was a good technological adversary for the issue, despite it's somewhat simple defeat that I no doubt liked. The fight was also a good way to explore Rhodey's character. The Guantlet was also a pretty awesome villain despite having another simple defeat and the initial concept of his look is hard to take seriously. However Schiti also does well at this, making him look cool and menacing. Lastly Bain is a good Hammer-esque villain, who's story I look forward to seeing played out. So…yeah. I don't why I had so much to say about this one issue in particular, especially since I didn't really, really love it or really, really hate it. But, um, yeah, that's my review. If you've read to this point, I applaud you. I'll try to make it shorter next time.

Yet another really great issue of Venom. This one has a great backstory for the villain, with a surprise tie in to Thor. Ryan Stegman's art is really good, and well complimented by the colors of Frank Martin. The script for the series main villain is even more proof Donny Cates is one of the best writers currently working at Marvel Comics. I don't have too much else to say, other than I really enjoyed this issue.

I honestly don't see the buzz for this issue. The art was certainly great, but the story was bland and uninteresting. If you like listening to X-23 and Honey Badger banter for 20 pages, then this is the issue for you. It has a really good story going for the Stepford Cuckoos, but I was already too bored and too done with the issue to care about that. X-23's internal monologue was also very good but suffered from the same problem as the Cuckoos. But, hey, at least the art was great.

In my opinion, the writing in this issue is not deserving of the art. I quite liked the art, but the writing is just painful. It contains zero emotion which just might be a good thing to have in an issue where Storms freaking second mother dies. I think her characterization is good, which is a good thing considering there are probably only two other characters in this series have the honor of even okay characterization. I'm getting tired of Mesmero as a villain and would really like to see him leave. Besides the art, the only relief this issue brings me is that we are one issue closer to the end of the series.

Well it certainly is a step above the quality of the other X-Men comics. All in all, this is a fun prequel to the modern X-Men comics that honestly isn' much else. It's one sided and has really just the layer you see at surface level to it. I liked the characterization of Kitty in this issue, which is good, because I quite frankly don't like her characterization in the main series. This issue ends on something of a "What's the point?" note, but I can't deny I did enjoy some of the elements the writer included in the issue. Unfortunately the script suffers from one of those scenarios where an adult tries to write the dialogue of a kid and it comes out ending up like very unnatural and unrealistic dialogue. I didn't like the art at first, but I have to admit, it grew on me. I was actually kind of missing the art when I finished the issue. Although it ends way too abruptly and is resolved far too fast, this is an entertaining read that might be worth your time if you have nothing else to read.

A pretty good issue. Definitely the best current X-Men comic on stands. Really excellent art and an excellent villain in Cassandra Nova. I don't know, something about this issue just didn't make it stand out in a week of excellent comics for me. Perhaps it was the fact that all the X-Men Red comics so far have been issues that read much better in trade. Or perhaps it was that although the team lineup is perfect, the writing for the characters wasn't that strong and it did nothing to make them super-likable. Except Honey Badger, now she is a likable character! Fun, funny and original. One of the best parts of the issue. Searebro forever! Anyways, not a bad issue, just not one I'll remember in one week's time.
