We get 21 pages, but it is almost all just a setting of the board where we are shown the scope and stakes, but don't get much of the actual story. That said, what could be told with what they have established in this issue could be huge. While there is a lot to love for any Batman fan, fans of Ivy will be especially glad to pick up this issue. What an amazing issue. Tom King has been on fire recently, and the streak continues with this one. Much of the issue's story is told through the art, which is incredible. I think Mikel Janin is my favorite artist right now. He really builds the tension with the way he depicts the events and characters in this issue, especially Ivy and the Green. Tom King tells a tight, intense story while using few words; and those he does use are sharp and to-the-point. This was the fifth book I read this week but the first one I felt compelled to rate and write a review.

This issue of "Batman" is a great read, in my opinion. The way King frames the story is great, and the art of Mikel Janin is awesome (check out the double-page spread of Ivy amidst a beautiful tangle of vegetation overtaking the city). This book is blessed to have several of the game's top artists working on it--this level of quality on a bi-weekly basis is incredible. Ivy here is rather omnipotent, which is perhaps a stretch of credulity, but I found myself not worrying about it and going with the story. It's a lot of fun.

This was a pretty interesting start to an Ivy Arc. I loved her portrayal as a villain but a villain that isn't crazy, or trying to kill millions of people, or trying to hurt anyone. She's genuinely trying to make the world a better place "her" way. I was confused in the beginning but later figured out that Bruce was trying to get the antidote before it was too late. So it appears Ivy has billions in her control including the Flashes, Alfred, Cyborg, and we can assume many more. My question is: Who is not under the control of Ivy? Who haven't we seen or heard from in Batman Comics for a bit? Who fits both criteria that could save the day, or at less help to save the day? Will we see swamp thing again maybe? Great start! Definitely a promising start to the new arc, portraying Ivy in a way we haven't seen yet, and using her powers to a new, unimaginable degree. The narrative may be a bit confusing during the first read, but once it's revealed what really is going on, everything "clicks", leaving no room for second thoughts. Where is the story going to lead, though? That is the question.

An overall good issue with phenomenal art from Mikel JanÃn. It's a promising and enticing setup however it is purely that; a setup. Not much happens in this issue other than giving you the basic facts. With only two other issues to go in this mini-arc, I really hope this Ivy centred story can make a lasting impression.

Good issue, strong and intriguing start for a new arc. And as always great art by Mikel Janin. Seems to me like the series may be heading into direction "Batman and Catwoman, rather than Just Batman" and I'm OK with that. And on the sidenote: Does every Bat-villain nowadays knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman?

The art and coloring are beautiful, great to see Mikel Janin draw Ivy. I had thought maybe she had made an appearance in the War of Jokes and Riddles, but I guess not. As for story not a whole lot happens in this issue, but as the start of a new arc it grabbed my attention. I was distracted by the all therugs Bruce has in his bedroom, just stacked on top of each other. Cat needs to do some redecorating!

I think that this introduction is over amplified for the situation. A story that should've only taken a few pages took up the entire book. I likewise wasn't very fond of entire panels and pages taken up to show scenes that could've been presented in a far smaller space. As usual, the art is top grade; pages 5-7 being among my favorites.

Ok. I love Batman but if you have been following the way too many Batman titles out from DC you will struggle with this book. I think Tom King wrote this story and has had it in the back burner somewhere and he has brought it out while preparing for his big story with the wedding and finally looking into that 3 jokers topic we still need to flush out. Ivy looks great and the art works but the level of little inconsistencies with other stories is kind of odd. My biggest question being why is Poison Ivy into taking over the world again? She was turned into an anti-hero and I think Tom King is playing a little fast and loose. There are other little logic issues with story that make me ask if this is really happening. The art is amazing especially the way Janin renders Selina and Pamela, but the story is lacking. At this point Janin might as well be drawing porn and you'd get about the same enjoyment with or without writing. In fact maybe skip the writing. It boggles my mind that the same man responsible for Vision and the current run of Mister Miracle is also writing the weakest stories for Batman...

Ugh Tom Kings Batman has become boring. I want Batman to be a savage that stalks criminals in the night. Batman is not interesting to me when he's in a relationship. This is a broken human with issues. Nobody reads Batman to see him attempt to be "happy". I understand King is trying to do something different with Batman but it's not working for me.
