Found this a lot more uneven than last issue. Still enjoyable tho, w/some good developments.

Look out sassy Sinister, 'cause nasty... super-snarky, Uncaring TARN's comin' for your shtick. But if this wasn't eXhibit-a for ๐˜œ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ STORM's inevitable, 12-issue yr-long, Ewing-penned prestige format, S1 maXi-SOLO-series, then IDK WTF is!! Also, the mention of Amenth in relation to her, I believe will be of particular importance moving forward. And not just for Ororo, but all of mutantdom & the entire comics MU at large actually, if my hunch(es) is(are) correct. This title, Hellions, New Mutants, & whatever Way of X transitions into (Legionaries, I guess), are weaving together 2022's BIG, universe-wide MAJOR THREAT(s) & possible... ๐˜›๐˜™๐˜ˆ๐˜•๐˜š๐˜๐˜–๐˜™๐˜”๐˜ˆ๐˜›๐˜๐˜–๐˜•?!

Just not into... 'Judgement'. And much like most, if not all of 'Destiny of X', I found this fairly uninspired and frankly... barely serviceable. In fact, I would've given it an even lower score, but am trying to maintain--with desperation, increasingly--the benefit of the doubt. Which pretty much stems from what little goodwill there is left from pre-'Inferno' 'Reign of X', combined with the healthy but short-lived boost this year's 'Hellfire Gala' gave. Magik was obnoxiously annoying and unlikable, while Havok comes across as stupefyingly insensitive and oblivious. Synch, Jean, and Iceman were basically satisfactory, stock portrayals, as was Forge, more or less. And I'm not sure why Cyclops and Firestar were even there, as they couldn't have been, and not much... if anything, would've changed. So, yeah, I'm feeling disheartened and rather... salty, toward the X-line of books these days. But to be honest, as soon as I saw the promo teaser for 'Destiny', I kind of figured it was the beginning of the end... for the 'Age of [Professor]X-Man'-cum-Krakoa era. Though I suspect that may very well be put to the new "vote"... at the beginning of 2023. I guess, we'll see.

Just read this & liked it more than the last 2 issues. I'm really into Forge's vision of Krakoa's future, re. his "real estate" development plans. I just hope it's not already too late, to see it come to fruitition, is all. Also found it *very interesting*... that during the *eXchange* w/Darwin while in his own mind, he donned the suit for... Captain Krakoa!! And I ๐Ÿ’š seein' Forearm behind the bar @theGL, miXing drinks. Not sure if that's new, but it's the 1st time I noticed it, and think it's a positively brilliant, li'l detail to add. Another nice touch was everything... Caliban! After this arc, his characterization's a keeper, AFAIC. This modern, mutant age needs more of his kind around. And Cassara's Krakoa sitting in giant, meditative humanoid form, was the most memorable image for me. Just so well done, and I really liked it. Adding that Serafina in particular, has the potential to become a... successful, major mod antagonist for mutants, IMO. This was the most intriguing I've found her since Hickman's X-Men 2019 #1 kicked things off, post HoX. Which is where & when I found her more visually striking, also, with that unique, reverse negative look. Prior to, I guess ya could say I found her to be sorta... your basic moustache-twirler, with the rest of the CotV just being her henchmen, pretty much.

Cyke's [and Bobby's] argument(s) was [were] in self-defense, AFAIC.

Have been reluctant to rate this, as the ending left me... wanting. Found it... wobbly, and ultimately, underwhelming. The preview of the follow-up only eXacerbated this, making it a wait & see. IDK, maybe that will improve my view in retrospect, but I'm pretty much on the fence right now.

Williams said issue #3 was where they really started leanin' into things, and for me, it did seem as though they're hittin' their stride. Felt like they're gettin' more comfortable behind the wheel, ready to step on the gas, and hug those curves tightly. The winding flow was great, from the bloody vamp battle & Dazz's ๐Ÿ‘ tales w/the QC, to the Collector's space fortress & freeing his prisoners from Otherworld+. Enjoyed it & am glad, 'cause I very much wanted to. Lookin' forward to the neXt one, to the point where I won't wait to read it, 'cause I can't wait to see where it goes. Kinda captivated with the surprising twists it's taken, and the firmer footing it feels like it's found. The girls felt more distinct unto themselves & their chemistry more genuinely harmonious, this time around. Way to whip up the crowd, Leah, ya done good!

The 1st ยฝ was good, but... the 2nd ยฝ really grabbed me. A whole lot of high drama, or heightened ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ข, as it were. Many moving parts that by my guess, no matter the outcome, will break away & begin... building on their own?

The hypocritical hysterics are still a bit much, BUT, think I liked this ish better than the last. And that's probably 'cause this one, I found... FUNNY, ACTUALLY. MAGNETO, lol...you & me both, brother, YOU...AND ME, BOTH!!

OKAY, shit's gonna go down neXt issueโ€ผ๏ธ X-Factor #1 was *beyond* eXpectations ๐Ÿ‘ Polaris' new philosophical divide dynamic w/ #Havok is... *compelling*, but I hope they're just FWB, if anything. Lots of SURPRISES: most the 1st team gettin' wiped out ๐Ÿคฏ Darkstar & X-Term; what/who is behind the government's... "TOP SECRET" doors? ๐Ÿค”

REALLY enjoyed Black Tom's appearance, as always, he just adds... so much zest! The development w/Colossus has left me uncomfortably conflicted, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, but as for Beast... I continue to grow increasingly weary, of his ongoing, everlasting... descent into MEGALOMANIA!

Both Rogue & Binary's rescues were... MOVING, and INTENSE! Once again, a nice balance of the cast combined with some really cool CHARACTER MOMENTS for each of them. There's also just this inherent, synergistic chemistry between them all as a group, that makes it seem like they've been together for a lot longer than they have. It all just worked for me, gelling & flowing so naturally, with pacing that was on point. KT has a good handle on these characters, and I could *feel* what they're all going through. Agree that the heart-to-heart between Jen/Hazmat & Anna was effectively touching and had to endear both to any reader with even just a modicum of empathy. Also FULLY ENDORSE KELLY getting an X-TEAM BOOK, she just *has to* after this, it's a perfect fit & would be a welcome addition to the line. Per Psylocke's psychic link, if I understood Rogue's flashback memories right, she, Laura, & Carol are ruled out as being impregnated 'cause of their powers or alternate plans (for CM). That leaves Lorna, Remy, Kwannon, Jessica, Jennifer, and... Binary, maybe(?), as those who still could be... I think. Anna's mention of a powered "army" vs. just an individual made me think of CLONING. And the emblem on the Brood Empress' forehead did make me think of Spider-Woman's, as the design looked similar enough. We also don't know why Rogue was out there on her own yet, but it's probably something to do with her deceitful mother, Destiny. I think something major is gonna end up happening to Carol, and likely some others. Including all those (Cyke, Synch, OWL, Iceman, Firestar, & Corsair) now trapped on the ship with those refugees that are Brood infested, over in X-Men #20. Things aren't looking good for any of them. Then there's Jean, Magik, & Broo w/Nightmare, and Forge & Monet in Knowhere.

Beyond the BODACIOUS Bobby bona fides... 2 more standout THINGS shined so favorably: BALANCE & PACING!! Also, Omega ICEMAN's thermo/hydro/cryokinetic control eXpanding to molecular (atomic?) levels... CONFIRMED?! As in interstellar, amorphous ice created quicker, than sublimation can take place? 2nd favorite Oct X-book, after Hellions 16.

The ART just cements Pepe's already... IMPECCABLE taste, as beyond reproach - a perfect MATCH!!! The quieter narrative contrasts well w/previous events, too, serving up a feast for Jean fans & offering insight into her motivations. And Cyclops LIED?! About what, eXactly? Is it just his *real* reasons behind forming the new team, and his *secret* doubts surrounding it? Or something more, something... *else*, entirely? So yeah, it was a *lighter* issue, but that's hardly unprecedented at this point. I was entertained, and am still fully invested, in the long game. Also strongly believe these first 4 issues are more than comparable to the same, from any of DoX or RoX's other series, when looked at as a whole. It's only been 2 yrs., and already those w/rose-colored glasses are recalling things better than they were pre-pandemic... and/or have been since, IMO. Subjective biases, we all wear them well. It's one of the things us humans do best.

X-Men: The Trial of Magneto (2021) #1 Aug 23, 2021

PHENOMENAL! Would've liked more Polaris, so took away .5 from this otherwise perfect first issue, for an admittedly personal & X-tremely petty... nitpick.

Read this yet? If not, I would strongly encourage you to, 'cause... I had a BLAST! I already missed Wells, no doubt, but... didn't realize just how much, 'til I read this. It felt SO GOOD eXperiencing his particular brand of dark humor again, and there was no shortage of how truly twisted & warped it can be. Right out of the gate, in the opening, ya get your 1st dose & it's wickedly wild. Disturbing even, which is to say, I felt the Hellions vibes right away. I did not hate Ben & Maddie here, I kinda felt sorry for them, and the endless tragedy of their lives. The X-Men appear maybe a li'l more than I thought they would, but still not too much. They're all pretty damn good... to GREAT [in 1 case, lemme tell ya], though, not surprisingly. It's macabre, theatrical in all the right ways, and filled w/Wells' signature, razor-sharp wit. While the Goblin Queen & Chasm stole the show, and rightfully *owned* it, Spidey, Venom, and believe it or not... Norman Osborn, had solid showings, too. Hallows' Eve was interesting enough, as well. As I was reading it & the further I got, the more I was seeing it as a live action or better yet [for me] animated film/streaming show/special, what have you. Something in the way it was presented, both in the plotting & visuals, just... IDK, there was like, these movie qualities to it. It's hard to eXplain, 'cause cinematic doesn't feel quite like the right word, eXactly. I wasn't sure how much interest there'd be for me, especially with any X-characters other than Maddie, not having huge roles. I still enjoyed the hell out of it, though, and was surprised at how rapt Spidey's cast kept me. I found it all pretty... *thrilling*, actually, sounds about right. There was this growing intensity that kept ya on the edge of your seat and thinkin' anything can happen here, nobody's safe & nothing's off limits.

They're back... in RARE FORM!! A hard-hitting issue that handily demonstrates why this series has struck such a chord with fans. SO. GOOD. Just come prepared with Empath-y for: CRAZY Havok, and SADness for everyONE else.

Pretty intense & kept me thoroughly engaged throughout. Segovia's return provided some tasty icing on the cake. Very fond of this series overall & have nothing but praise for it, pretty much.

My QUICK thoughts: unlike Pietro, I'm not afraid to admit that I was... VERY IMPRESSEDโ—โ— It felt FRESH & UNIQUE, with the BEST & MOST FAITHFUL VERSIONS of these characters that I've seen, in recent memory. LOVED the new setup & status quo for Wanda! The writing, the art, EVERYTHING, was TOP-SHELF Marvel!

Just for Iceman's "Early Thaw" story, with Magneto, by Anthony Oliveira, Javier Garron, David Curiel, & Ariana Maher. Absolutely LOVED IT, SO MEANINGFUL & TOUCHING!! An early (and ongoing?), SECRET *ret*connection to the Master of Magnetism, is the best Bobby Drake development in the new era. Erik singling out & showing special interest in him, is nothing short of long held fan wish fulfillment, for me. I want, no NEED... more, More, MORE!!!

Pretty much... pitch PERFECT! The moody, sci-fi mystery thrilla feels, were in glorious, full bloom once again, making for the... most SUPERB entry yet!<3 Ominous undertones grow ever stronger: BEWARE SHADOWking, a sleeper that can pierce the VEIL.

Loved Lorna & Wanda collaborating with their powers in such complimentary fashion. Them working together as an almost singular, fused unit, just seems so natural. The shrinking charm & linguistic enchantment to 'The Last Door' - COOL! And the *technology is evil* theme being carried on here, from the X-books, is a nice, connective thread I wasn't eXpectin' to see. MARVELed@ the total change in style as they began their quest, witch lent it a unique, fable-esque quality that works really well & I liked A LOT! "TWO SISTERS WITH A BOND MORE POWERFUL THAN BLOOD..." "HEY, WANDA? YOU'RE ENOUGH. TRUST ME... I'M A DOCTOR." The splash pg. where they create 'The Sword in the Star' & the epilogue one w/their beautiful, bonding moment(s) were worth the price of admission alone. And that CLIFFHANGER - WOW!!! Can't wait for the neXt ish. I... LOVED THIS!! I'll be following Steve O. & Sara P. on the Twitter IMMEDIATELY, while tweeting about how much I enjoyed it at the same time, something I've barely done since their appearance at last year's Hellfire Gala together. This was just wonderful, and if I had to sum it up in 1 word... POETIC!

Had HIGH eXpectations for this one, naturally, and not ONly did #XFAQtor meet them... it eXceeded them! Just for establishing POLARIS has a hidden connection to Krakoa alone, a secret link only they share, that strengthens her and allows them to combine & use their abilities in unison... it gets a couldn't-BE-more-enthusiastic 10!! I mean, just the way she talked to it & it responded to her, was BRILLIANTly adorable, endearing, and imaginative. To be honest tho, turns out that was merely the eXquisite icing, on an eXceptionally TASTY cake. Both the book's art & the dialogue are BOLD, leaving a lingering impression that makes for a memorable eXperience. And infusing it with a distinctive style, that distinguishes it from the rest of the Dawn Of X pack. With this, Hellions, & Empyre: X-Men's stealth X-Corp intro, Wave 2's REALLY been on a tear!!! <333

THIS... is what the new era's been missing! A perfect blend of the X-Men's most classic, more familiar endeavors, with all of modern mutantdom's recent bold & ambitious ventures intermiXed, to permeate the proceedings. It's a captivating, highly complimentary fusion that's not only successful... IT'S SEMINAL!! Together with last month's Planet-Size, plus the upcoming Trial of Magneto & Inferno, the Reign Of X seems keenly prepped for yet ANOTHER, stellar... MAJOR TURNING POINT!!!

AGAIN! All the GREAT CHARACTER MOMENTS alone... for starters. Rascally Remy's return (w/friends) + of Anna M's upfront self, Scott's lighter side + gen gap w/Laura, Jean & Ev's insta-chemistry, Lorna's casual neuroses... SUNFIRE tho, was the standout star this time, among many - LOVED IT!!

From elation to devastation, and everything in between... just cannot eXpress enough how much I enjoyed it, or how truly eXceptional & neXt level I think it ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ is. #HOUSEofX + PLANETsizeX 2gether w/THIS #XMEN book = a mod #MUTANTS BIBLE!!!
