I don't see anyone in this issue trying to be funny. Emma and Pyro have humorous personality traits, but that's consistent. Everyone else is pretty much dead serious.

The fill-in artists have been doing wonderful work, but it simply feels like home with him back in. Marauders #9 is a real trip in storytelling technique and the creativity required to show superpowers. It's an interesting look at Emma Frost and at the same time, the larger plot and world of Krakoa continue to be fleshed out well. Read Full Review
Duggan hand delivers a powerful story in an ingenious way like he's done almost every week and continues to make this a top X-title. If you're an X-MEN fan, this is a must buy and must add to your pull list. If you're not an X-fan, it's still an amazing issue layered with dynamic art and an incredible story with a twist! A cathartic and satisfying distraction from all the recent events that hint at some more game changing moves behind the scenes. I am impatient for the resolution of Shaws comeuppance but this is a resoundingly fun way to put that on the back burner for now. Read Full Review
At the end of the day, Marauders #9 had one objective and accomplished it. Another problem surfaced, another problem put to rest, while at the same time acknowledging an enemy who has attracted the wrong kind of attention from the mutants. It should be interesting to see where they go from here because they can either focus more on the mystery behind Kate's situation, the true reason for her death, or jump into the next Hellfire Trading Company job. I love the swashbuckling adventure feel of this book! The plan to extract Yellowjacket from Pyro is probably my favorite action scene from this series up to this point.
Prelude:
While people have been disliking Marauders recently, I've been enjoying it a lot especially after last issue.
The Good:
I really like how the Marauders took down Yellowjacket.
Lolli's art was great.
Interesting development with Kate.
Love Emma here.

While I want Kate to come back, the book is performing well again in her absence. Loved this issue.
Whoo Doggy! Now this is what Im talking about, you get away from all the silly pirate shit and you really have something here. Everyone who says this title is consistent is full of it but this issue is truly good. Twist intro, badass thrill ride of a middle and a great finish. Damn Duggan you did me good this Wednesday. Art was great and I loved the design on the cuckoo sisters. That being said it does have moments that feel weaker than others but still one of the better artists on this run, this title would do well to let him have residence for a time.
Far and away the best of the new batch of titles, every issue.
Kate Pryde situation looking bleek
A pretty fun issue with Emma using her telepathic powers to study and learn more about Yellowjacket's infiltration of Pyro. Speaking of Pyro, I always forget that he got that giant face tattoo earlier in the series. Either way, I liked how Duggan wrote everyone here and I think he has a nice grasp on these characters. Lolli's art was pretty solid as well. That said, though, I am ready for Kate to return soon. I'm sure she won't be dead for long.
Emma Frost coordinates a psychic mission to expunge Yellowjacket from Pyro. It's not enough of a victory to make her feel happy, though: Efforts to resurrect Kate aren't working. This is an awesome story conveyed with well-above-average skill. It misses true greatness, I think, by being a little too roomy and decompressed. The scenes are a little too long, that datafile is a little too big, the art is a little short of detail. Marauders remains one of my fave DoX titles, but I can't deny this issue is improvable.

Honestly the party planning subplot is my favourite ever.
This was a solid issue.
Wow. Marauders is easily the most controversial X-Book. While I enjoyed Emma subbing for Kitty as the main protagonist, I was really hoping for progress on the Kitty subplot. Emma and the Cuckoos tricking Yellowjacket was pretty cool but I thought his stat inside Pyro was rather short. The entertaining info pages make this comic so much better. Not a horrible comic but not what it could be.
Emma is such a badass. Even Pyro was badass in this issue. I know Kate is coming back, but I don't know how, that's where I hope Duggan will do something different.
Mediocre series inexplicably overrated by “critics”. Just note the difference all issues between critics ratings and user ratings.

Yes! Keep going this way Marauders and we may finally be able to break that barrier and go above the score of 7. But I think we'll need Kate for that.
Emma just keeps knocking out of the park with those outfits.

This was honestly pretty confusing. The ideas were cool, but the writing executed them in a really awkward way.
Plot really slow and barely progresses. Lack of storm and Iceman mourning Kitty
This book is just not for me. It's boring and the characters are all the same. Everyone wants to be the funny one. Really sucks
So we have Storm and Iceman who is true friends with Kate, but only see an out of nowhere Emma Frost caring? we only see the POV of a rich white woman then huh
