    Batman-News - Jackson Luken Oct 1, 2025

Batman #2 is a treat for Tim Drake fans who have had scant reason to celebrate in recent years. The (former?) boy wonder takes the lead by confronting the villains and even rescuing Batman himself. The writing can at times make him come off as more inexperienced than one would expect from someone with his tenure, but the fast paced action really gives him a chance to shine. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez Oct 2, 2025

Batman #2 works well to continue to establish the way Matt Fraction is following up on what his predecessors established. Fraction creates compelling voices for Bruce Wayne, Tim Drake, and Vandal Savage that adds to how Gotham City is changing. Having Jorge Jimenez around helps to keep that sense of progression from recent storylines. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Tyler Davis Oct 1, 2025

Batman #2takes all the promise of the first issue and makes good on it, delivering an issue that is simultaneously small in its character focus and grand in its setup of the run's larger goals. That being said, the ongoing conflict it establishes is one we've gotten off and on over the last few years that the excellence of Fraction's scripting pales in comparison to a worryingly stale plot. KPB Comics - Phillip Creary Oct 1, 2025

Batman #2 is a genuine mixed bag. The art by Jorge Jimenez is absolutely killer and worth the price of admission. However, the plot is full of strange, non-sequitur scenes, and the dialogue for the main character just doesn't make sense. It's a comic that looks amazing, but leaves you scratching your head, hoping that the next issue brings the story and the Caped Crusader back to earth. Read Full Review

This was a more exciting issue compared to the debut with more action. But it also has great characterization for Tim Drake, and I love the chemistry between Tim and Bruce. It seems that DC remembers Dick Grayson as Batman's greatest sidekick, Jason Todd as violent Red Hood, and Damian as Bruce's son. But they dont seem to know what to do with Tim Drake, seeing as he's normal.

But that's what makes him special compared to the most talented gymnast, an edgy punk, and a trained assassin. That's what makes him stands out in a good way. Believe it or not, Tim Drake is the reason why Robin was popular in the general audience, not Dick Grayson. I love his fight in the comic, and the crooked cop. This is just harmless fun simple adventu more

Fraction is setting the stage. At least, that's how it feels to me. Gotham itself appears to be the lead villain. It's only issue 2, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. If you read Fraction 's wonderful Hawkeye, you know he does slow burn narratives well. For people abandoning this after 2 issues - social media has broken your attention span.

Matt Fraction's second issue of 'Batman' is a confident step forward from issue #1, setting some immediate stakes for the Caped Crusader(s) while also keeping the action street-level, which gives the consequences a serious and ominous weight.

When the actions of two overzealous cops leave Batman and Robin injured targets on the streets of Gotham, the depths of their trust for one another is brought to the surface. Fraction balances the present day action-and-injury side of his story with a flashback to Tim Drake learning how to drive a stick shift from an increasingly frustrated Bruce Wayne, while observed by an increasingly more frustrated Damien.

Just as with the first issue (and all his work), Fraction excels at cre more

Art is really carrying this book. The plot isn’t bad tho. Just kinda generic. Vandal savage is going after Batman….. yeah he was already gunning for bats but like….. FOR REAL THIS TIME! Haha.

I don’t quite know what to think of this book yet. This issue was entertaining, but it lacked the dark, menacing atmosphere that was the standout element of the first one. It was still quite gritty storywise, but more on a situational level. The flashbacks contributed nothing to the story, feeling like something taken right from a teen soap opera.
Jimenez - unlike most modern superhero artists - is capable of not only drawing dynamic poses and great action scenes, but also everyday people and situations, which comes in handy in this issue. I like his art a lot, even though it’s different from what I usually enjoy.

Batman #2 was a solid second issue, not as tight as the first. It was a little too Tim Drake - Robin focused … with an unwelcome side of Damian Wayne. The narrative was a little loose with flashbacks cut into the main attraction. Frankly the book would have been just fine without the flashbacks, the crooked-ish cop plot should have been enough carry the book. It’s a slight step down from the first issue, but I still recommend it, I’ll come back for issue three.

Something felt off about this issue. There is far too much gunplay in it. They are trained to avoid bullets and disappear before the cops show up. That's why this feels off, because they don't do either of these things. In fact, by the end, there's a dead cop because of their presence.

Let's see where this goes, but right now I feel like it's a bit of a mess.

After the first issue, I hoped for better... sadly this batman series is simply not meeting up the quality expectations of a main Batman series.

Sidenote: The art is flawless, as expected from JJ.

But the story, djeeez, it is so so unworthy starting from issue one, continuing in issue two.

The art was good. I get what Fraction is doing. Bad cops are bad. But that’s what Daredevil is doing on Disney-plus. I also don’t buy the premise that Vandal Savage is the police commissioner. That is just a bridge too far.

There is the b-plot where bat boys wash the Batmobile in broad daylight at the manor, I think. Damian is a brat and no one calls him on it. There are so many bat boys that the overall effect is to dilute any one character.

The A plot is an armed robbery where a guard is killed during a hijacking of baby formula. Apparently one robber never heard of WIC or getting a job or breast feeding or food banks, so he had to steal a whole truck, and would not ever sell most of the formula for cash. But th more

There is nothing here that constitutes this series being justified in getting a re-numbered, newly minted, brand new issue number ONE. The art is the only thing keeping this series alive. Matt Fraction (or Chip Zdarsky 2.0) is delivering some very mid writing that definitely will not bring back many to want to reread this story. I’m having enough of a time wanting to read it now.

I’m also not sure why Batman has (or needs) TWO Robins? People jumping in for the first time are going to be HELLA confused!!!
Again, this is NOT a proper reboot. DC just felt like selling a lot of variant covers and luring in a few new suckers.

I wonder how long it’ll be before DC reboots Batman again??

I like how alive Gotham feels, it reminds me of Alan Grant's tec in this aspect, albeit it's done very differently.
