KNOW FEAR - PART 4
Rated T+
Checchetto continues to murder this art. The amazing contrast between the cover and the last page alone is enough for me to recommend the hell out of this book. His crowning jewel is the apex of the Daredevil vs Punisher fight amidst the fire and fury of an explosion (one that may or may have not been caused by a stupid show of bravado by Murdock). Reading this book continues to be my religious experience for the month. Read Full Review
Zdarsky, Checchetto, and Gho lay out something cinematic. But not widescreen cinema as the term usually pertains to. This is 70s Scorsese cinema. This is 80s Abel Ferrara, back alley, dim lit grit. Its the closest this book has been to Miller since Miller. Every creative team seems to rise to the rich legacy of Daredevils creative history. This is only issue four and this creative team have seen, called, and are raising everyone else at the table. Read Full Review
This issue is all about the characters and Zdarsky nails the voices and interactions of Daredevil and Punisher. Frank seems to need Matt to go over the line at the exact time that Matt needs to make sure he hasnt. It ends in a hail of bullets and a cool cliffhanger that has me pumped for the next issue. This series is a great jumping on point for anyone that is interested in Daredevil. Read Full Review
Daredevil #4 is just about a pitch perfect comic book. Chip Zdarsky is able to tell a complete story in this one issue. At the same time he feeds into the greater narrative he is crafting with great care. Where Daredevil begins and ends in this issue after his conflict with Punisher creates even more intrigue into what comes next. If you are a fan of grounded superhero storytelling I highly recommend checking out Zdarsky and Checchetto's Daredevil. Read Full Review
A deep dive into Daredevil's psyche. The complexity found in his interactions with The Punisher will leave you on the edge of your set. Read Full Review
Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's fantastic run on Daredevil continues as the Man Without Fear finds himself with a strange new ally: the Punisher. Read Full Review
It's admirable that Zdarksy continues to explore themes, but this issue resolves the conflict in a clich and quick way. Read Full Review
Another classic. Great last page, Marvel would never allow it in this day and age
Classic Daredevil vs Punisher debate. The usual discussion about who's in the right when it comes to acting justice. Daredevil knows he has the capability to kill, but he won't! He's not a monster. Punisher on the other hand...is a monster.
Matt and Frank debating about the morality of their actions is always fun to read and this issue is no exception. Actually, this issue was better.
-Great dialogue between punisher and DD
-Love the use of colors during their interaction too
-Det. Cole is still an early character, hopefully will be more fleshed out
The best Daredevil since Miller
I just say one sentences."do you have an any idea what i capabale of this abilities"
So glad that someone is finally calling Daredevil out as the fake geek girl we all knew he was.
The art and writing on this book continue to astound. I love the direction this is going in. Great character development. Excellent change after the Soule run.
Chip is killing it. This is daredevil at his rawest. The story is so familiar but so different and there are some straight up fantastic pages in this book.
Chap knows DD's stubborn spirit and loneliness. Art is great too; one of the fewest comics from Marvel that actually worth reading.
Chip Zdarsky makes a classic Matt/Frank catfight mutate in interesting ways, letting some of Frank's criticisms land and some slide off our hero. It looks great, it includes some memorable, iconic moments, and the plot takes a nicely-measured step forward. This feels like a top-shelf comic through and through. While it still feels slightly familiar, the feeling is shrinking as the story develops.
THE GOOD:
-This series is all kinds of awesome. I love it.
-The lettering is really good. Clayton Cowles does a good job of capturing sounds through Daredevil's radar sense hearing.
-The art is superb. Everything is drawn so well.
-I think Chip Zdarsky needs to write a Punisher series. I don't even read Punisher comics, but judging by this issue, he really should.
-I love the characterization/writing for Daredevil here.
-The coloring is also outstanding.
-This series feels really cinematic. If you miss the Daredevil show, come here.
-That last page looks like it'll lead to a really awesome next issue.
THE BAD:
-I still just c more
The dynamic between Frank Castle and Daredevil has always been a joy to read, and this issue is no different.
Yet another great issue. Zdarsky keeps me invested in the story and I like his take on DD. We'll see these two go at it again and I'm sure Castle ain't gonna be happy. Checchetto's art is flawless.
I always love a spirited debate of principles between Frank and Matt, and this was a good one. A Kevlar vest isn't going to stop a rifle slug at close range though. It rings true that Matt would evade police to go after a known threat, but is he ever going to actually turn himself in for manslaughter?
Yet another great issue. While not as good as the previous one, it maintains the pace and the tone and keeps moving the story forward.
This was decent but defiantly a down from the high of last issue. You get a classic punisher versus daredevil fight which is always a good thing…has punisher ever won?
Really well written characters. The way Punisher was drawn especially when fully covered in shadow was really cool. I loved what he had to say and found myself rooting for him. Loved this ending about as much as the last this is a great comic book though a bit dialogue heavy at times for my personal tastes. I think it would be nice to have maybe the cop characters moments be a bit more silent...also hate the fact that I can't remember his name....
"You're a demon, sure... but I'm the Devil"
This issue reminded me a lot of the episode from season 2 of Daredevil. The one where Punisher had Daredevil chained on a roof and that concluded in an awesome staircase fight.
I like to see when heroes, and sometimes villains, confront their different views on crime fighting. And when it's done right, like in the aforementioned episode and here, it is just a pleasure to watch/read.
And the part where Man Without Fear showed skill with a gun was great and proved just how really dangerous Daredevil could be if he ever decided to. The smirk on Castle's face made that part even better.
The art, just like in previous issues, is superb and fits really well more
This was okay but the whole Daredevil/Punisher debate is getting a little stale at this point.
The Art is very nice. However, the author exposes Matt as an ungrateful hypocrite.
