This is a big read. If you haven't heard, there are long stretches of prose in this book. It's far from traditional, both in structure and ideas. But, I couldn't set it down. I enjoyed the first book, but was enthralled by book two. There is a lot of jumping between past/present(/future?) in this book and slow reveals, but it all feels perfectly done.

I couldn't have asked for more from this book! Hal Jordan just does "rebirth" right, huh? Authoritarian fear versus individual will. Venditti brings so many familiar faces in an epic, cosmic set-up that still feels fresh. After seeing Sandoval's art in the last issues of Green Lantern, I could wait to see what he'd do here - and he doesn't disappoint. The book is absolutely beautiful to look at.

There are so many layers to this and every read through peels another back. After four reads, I'm still finding new little details mull over. There's an engaging plot starting, but where King really shines is the exploration of the characters, what drives them and, at the core of it, what makes them want to keep existing. This is heavy, dark, and introspective - but I expect we'll get something really special out of it. Gerads work is just perfect in here. His experimentation is taking digital comic art to a whole new level, without forgetting about things that will always matter (moving us through the page naturally, the power of facial expressions, etc).

What an issue! The Omega Men is a strong series, but this has been the best yet. Pieces are really starting to fall into place. A very emotional issue with some big character reveals.

How does this comic just keep getting better? Where can it go from here? I can't wait to find out.

This has been the most intense issue in the series, which is saying a lot. I had to set this one down after a particular scene and take a moment to just breathe. King and Gerads working together creates something really special; the words and pacing are amplified by the actions and expressions of the characters. I don't know where the story is going next, but I can't wait to find out. Powerful stuff all around. I hope everyone who missed #1 through #6 pick up the trade in July. You'll be rewarded by something unlike anything else you're reading.

How this book keeps getting better with each issue, I can't understand. That phenomenon should break some law of physics. Once again, I can't believe what I just read. Incredible. Is it next month, yet?

This books makes me want to go back and undo the few 10s I've ever given to other comics. I hope everyone reads this and it becomes a book people continue to read for years to come. An amazing, perfect series.

I wish this book had received more promotion; I hadn't heard about it until browsing new books on this site. I decided to give it a shot and, wow, am I glad I did! What a timely, relevant comic. I dare you to read this and not have a strong reaction. The writing and art are also both top-notch. I'll be adding this to my pull list, without hesitation.

My favorite issue, so far, of King's Batman. Great pacing, action that drove the story, humor, emotion, and resolutions to things that have been building for a while. We're getting to see a more vulnerable Batman through the vulnerabilities of those around him. All of this brought together by Jones' stunning (as always) art: perfect lines and layouts that never leave a doubt as to what's going on.

Loved every page. Murphy's art is beautiful and his layouts are always perfect; they really help tell the story by guiding you through it. The storytelling was rich - you get a lot from one issue. His take on Harley is clever and I can't wait to see what the long game is between Jack and Bruce.

My only problem with using this source material is the constant need to compare it - and it can likely never reach the bar that is Watchmen. That said, this is an incredible book. So many details done right. The tone, the dialog, the art, the layouts - even the matte paper. This was worth the wait and it's going to be a fun year!

Feels like a great point for anyone to jump into the series. This was an excellent issue, both in writing and art. Great pacing and excellent layouts. No major conflicts happen, but we get a ton of good, fun character development. Green lanterns using their power rings for baking? I would've been skeptical, but it was great!

I wasn't really looking forward to this; this kind of crossover just isn't a thing that gets my attention. Even though I didn't pre-order, the manager at my LCS set a copy aside for me, since he knows I read everything from Tom King. Boy, am I glad I ended up with a copy of this! What a great, dark story. And Lee Weeks art is as stellar as always.

And to think I almost didn't pick up this book in Rebirth! Another outstanding issue. One of my concerns with team books is not getting to know the characters well - but so far, the characters have been the strength of this title. That's not to dismiss the story, which seems to be building into something really interesting. Looking forward to next issue!

An excellent one-shot; it seems like it's harder and harder to find a complete story in a single issue, but this does it. Ollie and Dinah have a great dynamic and I look forward to more from them together. The art is top notch and seems a great match. Also, I love that this is true to GA's social justice legacy. Orlando and Aco really click on action scenes; this reminds me of my favorite parts of their Midnighter run. Way provides all the weirdness that has made the current Doom Patrol so great, too. I'm really, really happy with what this issue brought.

Definitely leaning more towards the "Young Animal" side of the Young Animal/DC spectrum (it's weird, in a pleasant way). Really enjoyable with lots of beautiful art. Full of heavy social commentary, which is what you'd expect from the Milk Wars story, when it intersects with Wonder Woman.

Enough little things happened to warrant multiple reads, too. I'm someone who doesn't have a Doom Patrol background, but I'm finding this very fun to read.

This has potential, but this first issue seemed more like a preview than a full issue. An ending that has me wondering what will happen next, although I feel like something should have been resolved. Nice art, but I hope the story can advance more than this.

It's fun, but the constant art changes were a bit much.

Capullo's art was amazing. The story didn't have a lot to say, but maybe it didn't want to do too much in the first issue.

I was expecting something special out of this series, so was let down. The art was really nice to look at, but the story was nothing special. I didn't really care about the relationships and the ending really came out of nowhere. Eh... it was pretty.

Green Lanterns #4 Aug 3, 2016

There's some stuff I'm enjoying here. Simon and Jessica are great characters and I love how they are developing. Whatever the red lanterns are up to seems really interesting - although it's strange how little we know about that by issue #5. That brings me to my biggest issue: The story is so decompressed that we've basically gotten two issues worth of plot out of the first five. Things really needs to progressing faster than this. Also, the art is also inconsistent, with so many different artists participating. Some is good, but some is really bad. There are bright spots, but I wish the Green Lanterns were getting the care from DC that is apparent in so many other series right now. Maybe pull it back to 1X a month and let it get done right? I'm not ready to drop it, but that's probably only because I'm such a GL fan.

I really want to like this book (great characters, good concept), but the story has just been too hard to follow. There are way too many things going on and, while there is tons of narration, it doesn't really clarify anything. Looking forward to the conclusion of the arc in the next issue, but that'll probably be it for me.

A disappointing conclusion to a disappointing arc. This arc was longer than it needed to be (could've lost two issues worth of fighting monsters and been fine). None of the stories (caves, monsters, Strange) wrapped up in a satisfying way - far too simple and straightforward.

Even my nostalgia for the 90s couldn't keep me going with this one. With issue 3 of 6, I say goodbye...
