Adams does a good job of finding a good reason to have Tom Kalmaku show up, and makes a far more compelling justification for the ridiculous number of Earth Lanterns (although there are just too many imo). With Hal's ring restored the haze of self doubt has been lifted, and Hal has the clarity of emotion to make a crucial decision about Carol - and of course this just means that Adams will have Carol decide she wants to be with Hal since they can never both be in the same place emotionally. This is all building towards a Green Lantern Civil War of sorts - and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

The story was okay, but dragged on a bit and was kinda boring. The art wasn't as good here as in the previous issues, it seemed a little muddy and rushed. They also got the GL logo sideways on the ring a couple of times which just shows that there wasn't as much attention to detail.

Loved it! I think the Hal part of the book is stronger, but the John part was good, too, it just suffered from focusing a bit too much on the Revenant Queen part of the story. Out of the 8 pages, less than half featured John.

What a terrible ending to this series. John ends up being a "chosen one" God like character that cannot die - making a meh character into one that is even less interesting. Kyle and Guy remain in limbo, and the Guardians are dead once again. What a mess! And the art - Santucci was fine but Tom Raney's style is just plain awful. One can only hope that they let Throne do what he wants with John off in his own little pocket sector of space while someone more competent pick up the reigns with Green Lantern.

Wait, so now Jo and Hal have been in contact all along?! There are things like this just sprung on the reader with no explanation that just undermine the storytelling. It's all thrown at you like some big "gotcha" that reads more like the writer is scrambling to make this make some sort of sense at the last minute. Been reading GL for a LONG time and this series is by far the most mishmashed narrative mess. DC, please end this book once this arc is done and put someone credible on it.

Another issue that dragged from cover to cover. A Guardian gone bad....how many times do we need the same tired plot recycled? Only being a GL completionist has me buying this book - and now I wish I'd just waited for them to end up in the dollar bins.

DC vs. Vampires (2021) #2 Nov 23, 2021

Again, not a very compelling or well written issue. I'd like to say that I'm surprised that Jo & Simon have forgotten that Hal Jordan is on Earth and could lend a much needed hand, but the author is blinded by his own hatred of the character to realize that it looks pretty stupid to have the most experienced Green Lantern out of the picture. As for the John Stewart half, eh - this could have been accomplished just as easily in a couple of pages and there wasn't anything here that added anything to the story to warrant the wasted space. This series has been lackluster from the get-to and I hope at some point DC finally realizes the lost audience for a franchise that at one time was one of the gems of their catalog.

What a great ending - this book has been everything that the main JL book should be. Sad to see it end. There were great moments for each member of the League to shine. Best DC superhero book I've read in months.

How this book is still being published is beyond me. It's the most boring Green Lantern series I've read in over 30 years as a fan. I'm done with buying it.

I'd give this a zero if I could. The writer has Jessica in Coast City - a city that was rebuilding itself and is used to a real Green Lantern being there. Xenophobia has no home there. This is yet another piss poor attempt to say "USA bad" by vilifying I.C.E. and trying to make illegal immigrants heroes. Can DC sink no lower than this?!

I enjoyed this book, although there are parts that I skipped over because I don't find the characters interesting. I'm really here for the Alan Scott and Black Lantern parts, both of which I thought were strong in this issue. And I loved the flashback of Roy with his Uncle Hal!

While we've seen the destruction of the League a number of times, Zdarsky's story is something a little more. The characterization is strong and the interactions engaging and entertaining. It reminds me of how much I miss seeing Hal Jordan interact with his contemporaries and I hope that this is the start of a trend of seeing this. My favorite book this week.

So this issue we learn that several fan favorite GL's were killed with no fanfare at all - what a waste of the rich legacy that has been built up over the years. The artwork in the front half continues to be a travesty for the eyes. There's literally nothing of value or interest happening here. What an awful series.

Wow - I didn't think it was possible to be worse than the first issue. The only thing worth giving it points for is the art.

Wasn't sure if I was going to like this, but it's a really solid debut and my favorite book this week. Johns and Frank are a great creative team and I thought this first issue got the series off to a great start. Geiger's story is compelling and Johns tells us just enough that we understand what's going on, with more to be revealed as we see other parts of this crazy post-apocalyptic world are shown to us in issues to come. I wasn't sure going into this series, but after the first issue, I'm all in!

This was pretty boring and the art was hit or miss. The design of the Sinestro outfits was horrible and what the hell did they do to Dex-Starr!? The writing isn't any better than what we saw in Thorne's Future State, which was pretty poor. There was nothing interesting here and John Stewart just isn't a strong enough character to carry this book. Not off to a good start here. And for God's sake, someone get rid of Teen Lantern!

A great finale to an incredible run! Morrison's tale is both a simple hero facing overwhelming odds story and an interesting commentary on the comic book industry. Liam Sharp has proven time an again throughout this run just how much talent he has and in this finale he exits the series in high style. It's sad to see that DC is seemingly stepping back from Hal Jordan when this series shows how malleable and dynamic of character he is when there's a good creative team behind the wheel.

I had high hopes for this, but the story wasn't very interesting. Not thrilled with Diana and Hal being replaced by Donna and John, either.

I disliked this more than I liked it and I found it to be very average for all the hype piled on it. I hated the ending which positioned the "big bad" to be way too powerful considering how easily he dispatched the characters he killed. This book really cemented for me how poor of a writer Geoff Thorne is and I am finding myself in a position of not buying the Green Lantern book in a very, very long time. In fact, I'm not sure at this point what I'm buying from DC if anything. I know that DC supposedly nixed their 5G plans, but it certainly looks like 5G with a different coat of paint on it. Lastly, I really hate what DC has done with Alan Scott. Readers have read Alan's thought balloons for over 80 years and there was not one hint of him being gay. (No the Earth 2 book doesn't count, it wasn't this Alan). Alan clearly loved and was in love with Molly Mayne and this new direction throws that out the window for the sake of being woke.

Thorne's main story continues to be boring and one dimensional. Teen Lantern, one of the worst ideas to come along in quite some time, was at least coherent but it didn't feel like a story rather than a "what's this character doing" bit. The Hal story seems to be the one that at least connects well with the rest of Future State and should have served as the first story in the first issue since it did a good job of letting the reader know what's going on in all of this. Thought the cliffhanger ending was a bit of a surprise since it implies there's more to be continued even though we don't have a book with Hal in it announced yet.

Fantastic stuff - from Morrison's meta commentary on the state of DC Comics to Sharps amazing artwork this is a great one. Sad to see this series end next month.

Once again DC goes to the well of depowering the Green Lanterns - one of the least compelling tropes for the franchise. The issue starts out without any clue as to what's going on, making the story a jarring start. The writing on the John Stewart story is very weak as well, so it doesn't make a good impression about the guy who's going to be writing Green Lantern post-Morrison. After seeing some of the stuff he's said online I can't say that DC has done a good job of picking new talent - he's more divisive than talented and I doubt I'll stick around for his run because I can't get behind that level of toxic fanboyism. The idea of G'Nort as Salaak as cosmic tough guys without their rings is laughable and I don't know if Thorne is trying to be clever or if he just doesn't know the characters. Plus, without the power ring there's no language translation, so are we supposed to make a leap and think that everyone speaks English in space? I didn't like the art at all. The Jessica Cruz story is okay if you can get past the idea that three Yellow Lanterns actually being held off by someone without a power ring. I think the writer did a better job at incorporating Jessica's mental illness that Sam Humphries did in his Green Lanterns run. Sadly the story is ended too abruptly. The Guy Gardner story was a lot of fun, and in checking who the author was I learned that he wrote a number of episodes of the Green Lantern cartoon series, so I'm not surprised that this was the most enjoyable story in the issue. Like the Jessica Cruz story this one could have been better served with more pages. The book as a whole is a miss, with more pages dedicated to the weakest story. If Thorne and Raney are the new creative team, I think we're in for some dark days for the Green Lantern franchise.

Really like the Hal Jordan story and I enjoyed the Titans stuff. I thought the Superman and Green Arrow stories were the weakest of the bunch. I haven't kept up with the Batman family of books so I don't have a real opinion about that story one way or the other. I like the Aquaman story despite normally not liking that much prose in my comics.

It was okay I guess, but there was nothing there that made me interested enough to want to continue with it. The art was fine, but the story and the writing was kind of boring.

I'm not sure why I've stuck around on this book other than I love the GL mythos. But I just don't see what others find good about this book. I'd much rather have seen Kyle Rayner in this story that another "avatar for the writer" character.

Too hamfisted with the political commentary for my tastes. When it comes to political commentary in comics, a smartly written book stimulates conjecture and reflection, but Waid and Kwanza fail to do any more than promote their own ideology. For those who are looking for that kind of book, you might like it, but for those looking for escapism this isn't worth your time.

You can tell the writer isn't terribly familiar with the characters as they feel a little off here. Jessica is written far more wily than I think she would react in this situation. I think she would have turned herself in to get to the bottom of this rather than run away. She's far too inexperienced to evade the Corps in the way she did. You can tell this is a filler and it's too bad that the writer didn't continue to build on Tim Seeley's "Ghosts of the Past" arc rather than this jarring detour.

A pointless story that really isn't worth the cover price. This could have just as easily been a single issue story of the ongoing series - an annual should feel important. The art was just okay at best.

This isn't the story that was solicited at all, and it's not particularly engaging as anything other than a character piece. If you're all aboard the Jessica Cruz train you'll like it, and it may be a good jumping on point for new readers, but after 14 issues the constant reminder of Cruz's anxiety is overkill.

What a fun read! It's cover to cover mayhem and action as the Corps clash with Xudar hanging in the balance. Also great to see the thread of Tomar-Tu and his mother expanded and how Venditti used it to show more depth to Hal. Great issue!

I had hopes for this arc, but it all ended pretty anti-climatically. The appearance of other Corps members also made zero sense - if John and company were on Mogo they'd at least have checked in with Jessica and Simon if not in person then by ring communication. As is the trademark of this series everything seems so very forced.

Fun issue! Nice to see John Stewart's leadership abilities play out even if it was a little predictable. Also liked seeing Hal's disappointment that he didn't find the Corps and his elation when he discovers that they are already back. This one's a nice mix of action and humor that moves the plot forward towards the showdown next issue.

Can't say I like the telling of the origination of the GL rings here at all - it's been canon for years that the rings were made as a result of the Manhunter fiasco so it just seems like the writer is making stuff up to suit his story with no regard to the past. It's also more of the same old formula of the characters constantly questioning themselves and so on that's gotten quite boring 13 issues into the series. If this book can't find more solid ground to stand on then I'm not sure how long it'll last.

Thought this started out really well, providing background on what happened in the Spectrum War for those who haven't read it yet. By not having to focus on introduction is allows for more character development which was nice, especially the scenes with Kirk and Hal Jordan. Seeing how the GL's have started to integrate with 23rd century life was fun and then along comes the twist. Seeing how the discovery that's made here drives the series looks like it's going to be a lot of fun!
