Flat arc with a flat ending. The villain is not only uninteresting but downright stupid and ridiculous, IMO taking away from the mythos behind the Joker. There is the rehashed "Batman can't be happy" trope for the hundredth time and unnatural dialogue with Selina randomly speaking of "judgements" and "feeling safe," which serves no purpose other than to tease whatever absolutely nonsensical drama that will form between Bruce and MU Selina in the coming issues after this one. The most interesting thing about this issue are the memberberries, but they are ultimately a shallow way to make people go "I clapped when I saw thing I recognize!" Was hoping this run would stick the landing better but it didn't.
If a 5/10 is utterly mediocre than this is definitely subpar.

Decent setup for a potential interesting storyline to come, and Ortega's art is great. However it really feels like Marvel and DC are trying to throw their love interests under the bus so everyone hates them. Selina's dialogue feels extremely forced and unnatural. "You lied and me and my family almost died." "Haha wow! You got problems, Bruce." *jumps away*
wtf??

I expected the worst and am still baffled as to how terrible this is.
The foundation of the event is still ridiculous. You cannot just pay the majority of criminals not to commit crime. You certainly cannot find the millions of dollars in funds (MONTHLY) necessary to do so by stealing jewels from a hundred or so billionaires in the city. They would leave the city. They would put hits out on you. They would hire armed security. These trained thieves would die or quickly be arrested, and furthermore how the hell are dozens or hundreds of thieves going to hit the same 100 billionaires constantly without stepping on each other's toes? And they're going to give away 15% of their earnings to charity? Bullshit.
The plan is stupid, Selina is stupid for coming up with it, and the Batfamily members that consider it are stupid. For some reason Howard and Zdarsky are on a mission to make Selina as cold and unlikeable as possible. She insults Bruce and blames the failed wedding on him, even though she was the one who left him at the altar because she thought it would be best for him and the city. Even though this conflict was already resolved and bringing it up again is retrogressive. Even though they got unofficially married sometime after this so what the hell is the point of bringing up the first plan to get married?
This event looks to be a contrived mess that disregards basic logic as well as basic understanding of the characters written within. The dialogue and conflict are forced, and Selina in particular is egregiously out of character to the extent that it feels like DC is actively trying to make people hate her. She has insulted or snubbed Bruce for no good reason the past three times she's seen him and as a big Catwoman fan it's extremely discouraging to see her written this way. The dialogue of the rest of the Batfamily leaves much to be desired as well, and as a whole I think this event was likely written with the end in mind rather than an actual desire to tell a good and comprehensive story.

I know comic book standards are low but this is pathetic. You've got a writer self-inserting and stealing plot ideas from a 1988 movie while forcing it upon a character that simply doesn't fit into it. Not going to waste more than a few minutes on reviewing this garbage so I'll just say that it is basically a character study on how to ruin and degrade a character to the point where even her fans are calling her a POS. Selina is utterly unlikeable and despicable in this and it's honestly infuriating to see such a beloved character disrespected by her own owners/writers/editorial staff to such a heinous degree. Why is she friendly with a murdering stalker? Why is she intimate with a murdering stalker? Why is she comparing this murdering stalker that she barely knows to Bruce? Why is the plot of this run so boring the only thing anyone ever talks about is the horribly out of character and absurd relationship drama? If this run doesn't convince you of nepotism I honestly don't know what will.
Very rarely do I rate anything, comic, movie, book or otherwise, below a 3, but the entirety of this run is certainly deserving of it. What the fuck was the point?

Still stupid. Still cringe. Still selling terribly. All of the escapees would have been peppered full of bullets but everything goes swell because... the plot demands it, and whatever's convenient is what goes under howard's 6th grade writing capabilities. Will likely only get worse now that Selina's out of jail and howard can continue whatever dumbass plot she has in mind. Oh, and the art sucks, too. Not as much as the writing, but still.

Horrible dialogue, inauthentic character voices, reads like filler despite being part of a short event. The ridiculousness of the plot and gross mischaracterization makes it impossible to take this issue, and every other issue of this garbage event, seriously.
I liked the interaction between Dick and Selina, but this issue is boring and (as Dick points out) stupid. If you're going to have a clash of ideologies you can't do it by subtracting 50 IQ points from every character involved. It needs to be believable.
also lol @ the tini howard simp with an average score of 8.2. With amazing quality like that I can't imagine why comics are selling so poorly!

Catwoman #58
October 17, 2023

This is the third time Selina has seen Bruce break down in front of her and only this time does she display any sort of care or empathy. The difference between now and the previous times is that the plot finally allows for her to react as her character is supposed to react, rather than in an unnatural way that serves solely to move a poorly constructed storyline forward.
Fight scene with Scandal was pathetic, art is meh, dialogue/prose is subpar. Not the worst issue of this event but still bad. The Bat editors need to be fired for allowing this pathetic excuse of a storyline and such gross mishandling of characters to exist.

As if tini howard can't butcher the character even more, she decides to give Catwoman powers. Then, proving how incompetent tini howard's Selina is, she immediately dies twice. On a mission to return a fucking cat.
Mentioning valmont is an insta 2/10; combine that with everything else and it's a 0/10.

Much better than tini's usual output, but still not very good. This feels like an elseworld comic rather than a Knight Terror's tie-in. The solicit is (thankfully) misleading, there are weird changes of scene that give whiplash, silly things like Maggie smashing a crate and saying she's destroying the weapons even though the weapons are clearly fine, and tini still needs to learn to read her dialogue out loud before finalizing it.

This just feels like a normal nightmare Selina could've had without an event even taking place. And there's something about Selina doubting her GW plans that leaves me shaking my head. Her plan is stupid and she should know it's stupid, but the decayed hand of DC editorial insists it must go on despite this.
Great art though... even though Bruce has brown hair.
