Priest fez um ótimo trabalho. Esse Slade remete muito a versão original do personagem, nos anos 80. A historia é intrigante o suficiente para manter o leitor e esta anos luz melhor que a fase anterior do Exterminador escrita por Tony Daniel.

First, the art in this issue is just perfect, one of the best I've seen Second, it's a very complicated plot, it's a lot going on, but I loved it. The comic humanizes the characters in a beautiful way. it's an emotional story it is Deathstroke vs. Batman, but not physically, in a paternal way. It's about the two as parents. It's a completely original and different vision for the two, It's brilliant, it's beautiful, Really you always see batman being approached as a sad man, and this is human in a way, but nowadays we rarity see him approached as a FATHER, a worried father, a father who makes mistakes, a father with doubts and failures, people forget this side of batman and slade we see as a father who recognizes that he is bad at it, that he wants to stay away from his sons to protect them, but he respects his children, he reconizes that he needs them I feel like people just wanted a hand-to-hand fight, and that's fine, but what Priest did here is unique, it's worth checking out.

What Priest is doing with this title needs to go down in history as a classic it feels like a moon knight book, in terms of crazy, but i think i goes a little deeper we got into slade's mind, how he is broken, why he is broken, we can feel the crazyness, the depression plus, the twist at the end... i think no one saw that coming the questions, the mystery, this is completely different from any title right now the writer is toying with us, this is something hard to happen this days, we should appreciate it

A normal day in the Asylum a excellent dive into the current state of mental issues in the modern society and Slade's mind i found really amazing how much detail we are getting regards the Arkham Asylum and how people live there the comedy is also on point here, this new character, Dev, is really funny this plot with two face seems really complex too, and i can't wait to see how this unfolds

good issue, but the end kills it for me Kid Flash and Damian are the only teen titans related to DS, one of the two should kill slade so this way the act of killing would have some impact or maybe even better, his son, Jericho or Rose emiko doing it its just a dumb plot twist plus, hahahaha, the guy survived a bullet in the head, a arrow would not kill him he's 100% not dead and if he is dead, jeez still, there are some good stuff here the art is amazing

I love how this issue opens referencing one of the best moments of this run. The whole funeral was really well done in my opinion. The character that come back, what some of them say, it was really satisfaing. The set up for Joey and Rose's path is pretty cool as well. Unfortunately i really dont care about the legion of doom stuff here. Still, solid start.

I can't illustrate how much it feels fitting for Joe and Rose what is happening to them. Rose trying to honor her father works well. So far we got a lot of stuff with her in this series, showing how Slade wasn't the best dad for her but he definily cared about her. So, i think she is angry not because Slade is Dead, but because she can't have some kind of resolution or approval from him. I love Joe in this issue, his subplot with Terrence comes to a end(?) due to him choosing to go save Rose, showing again how the Wilsons can't be happy due to the members of their family, which is one of the main themes of the book so far. In a way, Rose wants to embrace that she is a Wilson but Joey wants to leave all of this situation behind but he feels responsible. The Wilson curse. I think during Lazarus Contract he said that every day he fights to not become like his dad, and so far it seems that he is losing the fight. The war between the Wilson kids has begun, and i would love if this series end with slade coming back from the dead to put a stop into it.

So, our (old)boy is back! That fake Slade in the armour suit is a nice mystery, i think he might be a clone from the legion of doom or another slade from another earth/time line or even Slade from the future. He looks like a mixture between the 2 runs of Deathstroke in the N52. The scars, a suit of armour, two swords, how much destruction he makes while fighting. Maybe a "critique" of that style? He called Damian "son" so maybe he is from another earth where Slade is Damian's dad? And Wintergreen and Joe are dead? I love Rose's resolution with Emiko. That felt really right for the characters and this book tone. I also like Joe's trip to going evil. That classic "are humans worth saving?" stuff, but done well enough Solid Issue, one of the bests so far. Love the art too. Feels like we're back at the beginning, due to the plot being harder to understand and the art.

Man, i love this issue the thing about Priest's take on Deathstroke is that you almost never see whats going on in the characters mind, a lot people dislike this, and i can see why, but, i think it was a smart decision since this make issues like this more impactful. I also like the idea of Slade disguised as a nurse, i know the explanation in the issue is about how is the last thing people would think he would disguised himself, but i like to think that he wanted this disguise to help people, as we saw in this issue, Slade has a sense of morality after all. The character comes out really complex and full of layers. Slade realizing that his "home" is better without him is a great moment, amazing how he can sympathize with him. The little flashback about deathstroke vs batman was pretty cool, makes it seem like that dialogue was there for this, like it already was planned out. and now slade's death wish in terminus agenda makes more sense, since i didn't like that story all that much i appreciate this, almost makes me go "hm, ok" about that. the thing about leprosy feels planned too, since Dr ikon transformation we're getting references to this, so this disease playing an important role in the story works. We got a few returning characters, which is pretty cool, this series is almost like a little universe. and this "impostor" deathstroke, dude, what a bastard. His hair and scar on his right eye reminds me of Arkham Origins deathstroke, i'm really convinced that he is an critique of n52 deathstroke and some bad adaptations of the character. He acts like a lot of bad adaptations of him. anyway, great issue, slade comes out really human and the story progress really well. the art was really good too

lot of things to like in this issue. I like Jericho reflecting on everything, i think in some ways he's the reader. Just thinking about how we got this far. I love what this run did to him, i feel like he truly is now his own character. The flashbacks about hosun made me think "oow, how much time we got with this guy and now he's gone", i always liked him as the funny character but never though about how much he changed. Started out as a coward and died like a man. Again i really like this "fake" slade, when he hugs Billy that was a powerful moment to me. We know how important Billy is for slade, this series stared out with slade going after him. But he never showed that level of care. and now, real Slade vs "fake" Slade. the hype is real to me. I just hope Joe gets his wish, his real father hugging him at least once before the series ends.

Deathstroke Vol. 2: The Gospel Of Slade

Jun 23, 2018

i really appreciate how this volume, how this take on the character, isn't afraid to talk about laws, how an individual like Deathstroke uses the law in favor of himself and how the comic points out flaws in the law system and the difference between justice and vigilantism. plus, the confront with Superman is not about brawls it's about different ideologies and world views, this makes Slade more tridimensional as a human being, he feels like a(evil)person, not just a piece of paper. The comic also explains the origin of Slade's group of mercenaries and the origin of his sword, which is appreciated but my favorite part is the criticism of gun violence, this is actually a deep and thoughtful look into the problem, taking no sides, only the facts and lefiting to the reader to decide what to think

10
Deathstroke Vol. 3: Twilight

DC vs. Vampires: All-Out War (2022) #1

Jul 19, 2022

Yes, I went in expecting nothing from this comic. Oh, boy, how wrong I was. This "survivors trapped/living in hiding" type of narrative is very well used, how they are surviving feels very believable. Need to tip my hat here due to the attention to detail. Deathstroke however was my biggest surprise here, the character is very well utilized, his plan is very cohesive with the character. Azrael story was the highlight, there's is a lot of potential for him in this series and seeing him with Bane makes it even better. The humor was another thing that worked really well. Same needs to be said about the artwork. The ending hypes up the next issue, but regardless of that, I'm definitely going to be excited whenever a new issue from this series comes out.

Today's issue felt more action oriented but the story still progressed nicely. Showing the strengths of placing your story in an alternate universe, characters can and will die. The humor continues to work really well too, one joke in particular took me out of the story for a moment since it was an "ok boomer" joke but that ain't a big issue. I'm really curious to see where Azrael journey is going and now I guess we have our main antagonist. This series is shaping up great. This time the surprise was the backup story that felt like an manga, one about vampires of course. Anyway, very fun read.

I'm definitely happy with this series, today's issue continues with the consistency and tone you can expect. The humor continues to work really well(jokes about Florida are always welcome) and the plot continues to progress nicely. That's the key word, continues, the people behind this comic are definitely having fun and putting that energy into their work. One thing I must point, and I'm happy for it, is that Deathstroke acts like a strategist here. This is pretty much the only comic currently where the character acts like himself. And of course, the rest of the cast is nothing short of fun to see, how Batwoman was used is a highlight for instance. As always the artwork is great too, with one splash page in particular with most of the main cast just killing vampires and looking cool while doing it. It looks good, the plot just keeps going at the right pace, no character feels off, solid recommendation.

Another great issue, once again I must point out the consistency in pretty much everything. The humor continues to be spot on, I think it is safe to affirm that the jokes are the highlight of this series. Alongside with the plot that just moves at the right pace. And last but not least, the action. That fight between Midnighter and Prometheus... Now that's why I read comics. And that also serves to encapsulate everything this series gets right. This is a short one since I'm late and probably everyone already gave this a read, regardless of that, another recommendation.

Maybe the best issue so far(?) Mary Marvel and Slade took the centerstage as this series gets close to the end while our group finds themselves inside Flash's museum. Does the story continues at its proper pace? Yes. Does the humor continues to land? Yes. However what graps the attention here is Mary arc and Slade's narration. Her story isn't fully over but you can see a really good conclusion being set up. As for Slade he definitely feels like the same exact character he was back in the 90's during Wolfman's run. And that's all we could ask for. The art continues to fit this series very well. Again, solid recommendation.

The conclusion to what has to be the best comic from 2022 with Deathstroke. I must admit that this issue was the weakest of all but not bad by any means. Another fun read as you can expect from this series, i guess my problem is the somewhat predictable ending. Anyway, if you fallowed the series so far you're going to read this regardless.

Really dig the characters that showed up for this issue, and how unpredictable it was. But some of it felt unearned to me. Like, Slade fighting Dinah, felt kinda of empty to me, almost like false advertising. But i guess that's on me, since that's how most comic books go around characters fighting these days. It just didn't feel satisfying when i got to the last page. You know when you watch a bad M. Night Shyamalan movie? like, the plot twists that most of the time doesn't add anything really substantial to the movie and feels like cheap shock value? Yeah. I appreciate the fact that we have a clear winner here, just not how this information was given.

The best issue so far. I didn't like how the comic opens tho, makes the previous issue somewhat worse for me. But since what comes after really lands well, I don't mind that much. The journey through the Crooked House just works, the character beats there are genuine. And how this comic ends is really exciting and unexpected in a way. Strong middle section and a nice hook for the next issue.

King Deathstroke is here. And he has zero f@cks to give. Slade looks tired of everything, he feels like is time to step his game. The why is easy to understand, as a comic book reader, makes sense for a character to get tired of how repetitive his existence can be. Definitely interesting to see this type o thing. As the character takes this new direction I'm reminded of one thing Christopher Priest said about Deathstroke once, about how DC does not let him be the best, or worst, version of himself. I wonder if that change, today's issue brings some hope about this. Excited to see what the future brings.

Very strong issue, now I really care about Respawn. As always, love to see references and connections to previous stuff, be N52 Grant Wilson or Priest's Deathstroke run. This consistent sense of continuity is one of this series strongest aspects. A slow but good read.

I guess you could say the strongest aspect of today's issue is Slade and Respawn's father and son time together. Slade is trying here, this is somewhat inconsistent with his previous comic series but I guess you could say since time has passed the character has evolved and learned with his past mistakes. Cute definitely is the word that describes this the best. However, not a fan of Batman and Talia part here since it kinda downplays what happened previously. Some dialogue at the beginning and how the character Raptor is used did bother me too but this is not the end of the world. What can I say, this issue works, not amazing but it gets the job done. Also, always nice to see a callback to Deathstroke rivalry with the Titans.

First of all, I do appreciate that this issue takes time to grief over Respawn's death(funny to think that he "fridged" to give Slade proper motivation here). Also, when Slade has Clownhunter as a hostage it was clearly a parallel to Judas Contract where they first telled Deathstroke's origin. A lot happen here, which is good, since now this crossover is nearly its end. Again, another solid issue however, I must admit, this crossover is feeling a little bit boring to me. Maybe this is due to the size of it, this storyline could be shorter.

Year One begins, as Deathstroke joins the list of DC character with a Year One storyline. To start off, this is the first time we see Slade's origin by his own eyes, his own perspective and feelings about it. We also getting details for the first time about his daily life. Slade feels human here, real, speaking in a more personal way, he had the same job I have now. Crazy coincidence but it really helps making the character... relatable. Anyway, this is a love letter to the character for sure, references to Wolfman and Priest runs. Besides the references, everything feels cohesive. The art is spectacular, the colours, the pages layout. Outstanding job. This genuinely has the potential to be one of the best things ever done with the character.

Year One continues, as we see Slade in one of his first contracts. We get more action with this one, more guns blazing and blood flowing through the pages. The comic still makes time for character development and interactions that still feel for the most part cohesive with what we already know about Deathstroke. And this is starting to remind me of Jason Aaron Punisher, which I'm a big fan so thats a plus. The highlight to me, once again, is the attention to detail when it comes to the character history. For instance, Deathstroke and Green Arrow used to have a big rivalry post Identity Crisis. So, Oliver showing up here feels appropriate and interesting. As a fan, I'm been dying to see the two fighting once again(last time we had Green Arrow vs Deathstroke was back in 2016 if I'm not mistaken). Solid issue. Definitely looking forward to the next.

The spotlight goes 100% to the art today, this was truly wonderful to look at. The art style, how every color was used, the pages layout, just beautiful. Easily one of the best looking comics i've read in a while. The story was good too, it had an interesting contrast. If you go back to DC's One Year Later line, where Deathstroke was Oliver's main villain, and compare to this, you can see how things change over the years. Even though this was more action heavy it still founds proper time to character drama. I have to tip my hat to how cohesive this Deathstroke is to Wolfman's and Priest at the same time. But I do have one complaint, even having in mind that this is a younger and inexperienced Slade, the character strategist side is nowhere to be found. This isn't a problem exclusive to this, in every project Slade is in currently they never bring this up, how Deathstroke is supposed to be of DC most brilhant tacticians. Again, I know this is the character's first contract, but he learned the importance of strategy while he was still in the army. Why is DC erasing this side of the character? Anyway, for the art and character drama, this is worth the read.

I guess is that part of the movie, oops, I mean comic, where the story slows down, we get some comedic relief and the characters take a breath. Except Slade does not feels like doing that. Anyway, the most interesting thing here is how the first pages mirror Part 1, I believe this is supposed to say that Slade died after the experiment, in a symbolic way. Or literal. Again, good stuff, love seeing Wintergreen and Slade together. The drama with Adeline works well too and the artwork, as always, great. So of course, I must continue to recommend this series.

It's hard for me to talk about this one. Great action, great art and once again all the callbacks to classic Deathstroke are a win. But... Turns out this isn't only how Slade entered the mercenary world, but also how he learned the value of strategy, of planning his moves. And I don't see the point of that, he was in the army, knowing the value of prep time is something he should already know. There is also a plot twist here that was easy to see coming, but it's clear that the comic knew this and this doesn't matter that much. However, something that can be an issue is a certain sense of parts of this arc being unnecessary. This could be a 4 part arc easily. Not bad, but the weakest issue of this storyline so far.

This time I want to talk about the cover for a second. Why only 2 of Slade's kids are there? Why Rose is there if she is not in the comic? It's hard for me explain it but this cover makes little to no sense to me. Anyway, and the comic? It's... ok. I loved the first issues but the ending here lacks punch. Year one biggest selling point was seeing some of Slade's feelings about his life that we never knew but the conclusion for this arc has nothing new for us. And nothing with real impact happens, the ending is predictable. This is not a bad comic by any means, it's fun and a good read but it offers nothing new.

Deathstroke Inc. Vol. 1: King Of The Super-villains

Aug 14, 2022

When the 2016 Deathstroke series ended it was said by it's editor that it might have been the last Deathstroke solo series ever. So the announcement of Deathstroke Inc excited me a lot since it was so unexpected to me. The premise, that being Slade and Black Canary hunting super villains for a mysterious organization was nothing short of perfect. I'm still waiting for that comic. My first issue is how Slade doesn't feel like the protagonist, Black Canary feels more like the focus and Slade is just a side character really for the most of it, and a boring one at that. This isn't the first time the two worked together, years ago back in Birds of Prey the dynamic between the two was established. But since that was Black Canary's book it made sense for Slade to be just a side character. Slade doesn't really do anything "cool" until the very end of the book, and there is a lack of weight when he does. He becomes "the King of Supervillains" so easily, it does not feel earned. The part about hunting super villains isn't put to good use, it's as if the comic had no real interest in it and only existed as a prelude to an upcoming event. It even does the classic and hated "oh these two characters are going to fight, except, not really" sometimes. And of course, the "oh this character died, ops, he's back!". Can we ban these cliches from comics books already? It has it's moments, don't get me wrong. It gets the job done, some parts are fun to read, this isn't a horrible comic by any means, but it could have been so much more. I look at the pages and I see good ideas that deserved more time. I see characters that need more development. I see potential, wasted because DC wanted to do a big event.

Definitely a weird read, reminds me of Home Alone but way more violent. And i kinda dig it(?) Like, I get what this comic is trying to say, about how certain upbringings can make a person violent and even if the person thinks they are in the right, their actions are still way too extreme. this is the type of stuff i like to read so, yeah, enjoying where this series is going.

Father and son and father and son and daughter together. Even though the main story is still taking some time to breathe. you can feel the main plot rolling. Who killed Ra's? But, being similar to Deathstroke Inc. #8, the highlight here is the human aspect of the story. Damian and Respawn meet again, Slade continues to show genuine care about his newest son, Batman wants to set thing right with Damian and so on. I much prefer this type of story, people having emotions, rather than big fight scenes. Very solid and functional issue.

If i had a coin for every time Slade died is this series I would have 2 coins. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. This issue disappointed me. Slade vs Talia is a stupid fight, I'm sorry. Talia is a good fighter but she should not be a problem for Slade, she beating him is even more ridiculous. And the fact that this series is killing Slade again is just stupid. And Talia is unbearable here, going after Slade for something he didn't do, being responsible for the death of a kid and showing no remorse for it. I just can't root for this character. The reveal of who the fake Deathstroke is makes sense but is something I don't see the point. Pre-Flashpoint comics like Outsiders for instance had dealt with his rivalry with Slade. Especially when most of the events that made Geo-force hate Slade were erased from continuity. Seeing him as a villain feels weird too. It kind of kills the point of his character. Just as this issue killed my hype for this crossover.

I really love how this issue opens, feels very respectful and proud about DC's history. The art is amazing too. Jon trying to assemble a new League was the best part for me. I can see this character becoming a good Superman easily. However... This reminds me how Jon already having this level of responsibilities feels wrong and forced. Kara should be the one taking Clark's place. I feel somewhat similar about the new Wonder Woman and Batman. Yara, the "fake" brazilian(I'm brazilian myself and I have some issues with her) and the Batman who uses a Bat costume, the name, but wants nothing to do with it(?). About Black Adam's role here, don't they have anything that can just see if he's lying or not? Like lie detector machine or something. But ok, let's talk about the titans section of this issue. Deep down, I know complaining about this is stupid but, how does Dick survive a bomb that close? And I want a really good explanation for Slade doing this, he had made a deal with Nightwing, his "troubles" with the Titans are resolved. I guess this has to do with what happened when Slade was in the Lazarus pit(very dumb thing btw) but still, this needs a better explanation and quick. And Slade's new design is just ugly, I'm sorry. But my major problem here is Deathstroke killing Gar. This is not the first time he does this, but it feels wrong. After Trial of the Terminator the two became friends, seeing this ignored bothers me a lot. This comic wants us to think about the old days, this is clear by the opening page, but it does not want us to remember all the details. Gar's death is also another problem with this by itself. Events like these always feel the need to kill characters but this is just empty to me. Feels robotic, a editorial mandate, "kill someone, this will boost sales and people will know what we're serious about this". Think about Dark Nights Metal. No one died there, and yet, everybody was buying. Actually, that event had "negative" deaths, with missing characters coming back. That event had its problems but it was exciting to read. This? I'm not so sure, now I'm just like "ok, who dies next to help with the sales?".

I have lots of mixed feelings about this. The art was great, all the fights looked cool but the story felt... slow? To start, I must say that Beast Boy being alive is a good thing, I'm relieved for that. (And it's funny since almost the same happened way back in New Teen Titans #10 and 11) Again, the artwork was amazing, and that was my favorite part about it. Seeing Kyle at the end was my second favorite thing, the ending here definitely hypes up the next issue. But, we're promised this big fight between Dick and Slade and the whole thing was posted by the artist on social media or some site posted it. It was so short that I felt tricked(?). And the lack of original ideas is bothering me. The identity of this event is the theme about legacy, However everything else has been done before. But of course, one could just say that's how comic books are theses days and that's fair. This comic ain't bad by any means, although it can feel very basic.

Aug 2, 2022

First of all, after this years Comic Con and the announcements about this event my perspective about it has changed a lot. I already was somewhat negative about it due to the lack of original things happening in it, and now i think i know why. I think DC has a list of things they know how their readers feel about it and they are just checking each item(like the JSA making a aperrence, I love the group, specialty the character Wildcat, but at this point seeing them feels empty, due to the amount of storiea that used them showing up this way) However, so far this has been a competent event. I'm a little bit disappointed with how this used the cliffhanger from issue 2, I went in expecting action and I got a "mission briefing" type issue. And, still, this was my favorite issue so far. This is what I like, characters talking, showing if they agree or don't about a subject. What they are feeling, etc. Even tho it feels like the Black Adam training the League section wasn't fully explored, I'm still in a positive opinion here. My problem so far with this event was how robotic it felt, like a computer wrote it, issue #3 breaks that.

Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths (2022) #4

Sep 6, 2022

Alright, now I get why some people where saying this should not be a crisis. Not a bad issue by any means, it gets the job done, but the scope of the action feels small, especially compared to previous crisis. This feels more like a prelude to a crisis event. I'm confident that the next issue will be better but so far it's just ok. The art as always is nothing short of amazing. If I had to criticize something, once again, it would be the use of Deathstroke. And I was kind of right about it? Luthor did kick Slade's ass, Deathstroke lost every fight he was in, I can't buy this guy as a big deal. This series always shows Slade as a pathetic loser and then talks about how he's a big threat, there's a disconnect. But whatever, he's just a puppet for the real villain. Anyway, it's just alright.

Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths (2022) #5

Oct 4, 2022

So far this series felt more like a regular Justice League story, not a Crisis, after the last issue it seemed that this would change. Not the case unfortunately. The scale of the battles feels small and rushed. This is supposed to be about legacy but all we get is some cheap fanservice. It lacks a real argument about legacy heroes, instead it just goes "hey, look, the young heroes look cool". Also, this issue also was hyped as the return of the Justice League, which is horrible for a story about legacy, in my opinion. Some of this event is feeling like an Walking Dead ep, something insane happens at the end, to hook you up for the next ep, but then, nothing happens, people just talk and in the end another crazy thing happens. Last issued ended with the return of the infinite earths, today's issue should open with the insanity something like this should bring but we get stuff that should be at the begging of a story like this, like heroes being recruted. And again, nothing original. The return of the infinite earths? We got that years ago in another sequel for crisis on infinite earths, infinite crisis. Again, the art is amazing and at least the plot is rolling but it feels so empty. What is the point of this besides events with crisis on the name making easy money?

The best issue so far, hands down. Finally the action that was needed for this to be a crisis. Everything with Jon was the highlight for me, and now it's fair to call this an event about legacy. I still have some problems, like how Pariah and Deathstroke are used to coment on fanboys who think that everything in the past was better and who hate legacy heroes, feels somewhat shallow and unecessary since we already had a similar thing with Superboy prime. Also, not a fan of some of the dialogue, specially moments like Nightwing trying to talk with Rose but I think it's fair to let that slide. As a Deathstroke fan, it pains me to see what is being done to the character but since we're almost at the end I don't care anymore. This was easily the most fun issue.

A whatever ending. I guess my problem with this series is how much it plays safe and this issue was that. The most safe ending possible. It uses the characters in whatever way fits the story instead of using the characters to move it. And i just hate how much this tries to lie to us. This series asks us to look at the past, but not the actual past we read but a different version that the writer want us to. And yeah, at the end of the day this was just some eye candy with some cheap fan service. Not even 10% of what the original crisis was. It goes in the complete opposite direction. Just another robotic cashgrab event.

Suicide Squad: Get Joker! #3

May 10, 2022

After what felt like years, this series finally hits its end. The art and humor are definitely the selling points here, but the story and characters, at least to me, are lacking in weight. Yeah, it's the Suicide Squad, they' supposed to be replaceable but we should care about them, they should grown and learn as the story progresses, so we feel something when they die. Harley Quinn for example, I find somewhat weird how she's treated here. After all these years, the character has grown out of her "love" for Joker, even having in mind that this is an alternative reality, still kinda jaring seeing how she is written here. Also, I have problems about how Jason Todd is treated, at the end some dialogue feels like a commentary about the character but it simply does not work for me. Yeah, I'm talking about this due to how the last issue ends, with a second Suicide Squad, having Deathstroke as one of its members showing up. I find weird how some of them are using costumes from The Suicide Squad movie, some from Arkham Origins and some from old comics but that's just an observation. The only thing that's worth pointing out about the second Task Force X is how they have Deadshot and Deathstroke and yet they are mmissing everyone on Jason's team at the bar where this issue begins. Seriously, Floyd alone would kill them all in 3 seconds with headshots (Ok, that's a nitpick). Again, amazing artwork and I love the acid humor, but the lack of character progression lefts to be desire.

oh yes, the beach episode, that's why we all love anime in today's episode, it's made clear that the great mangaka tom king did not finish his story so more filler the animation is gorgeous, as you can expect our beloved protagonist is still trying to find love with his Tsundere(or wtf is the term) unfortunately he comes out as one of those random dudes you find on social media complaining about their feelings in the most generic yet pretentious way possible lots of weird dialogue repeating words, one word sentences and etc. making even more clear that this is a filler episode to fill up space the best part is how heroic our protagonist comes out. his beloved city is burning and he is on a island with his crush. now that's is the super hero sh#t i love but let's be real, enough. Tom, please, go read Morrison's batman or even Snyder's run. Batman isnt the type of man you are. He does not need a woman to motivated him, to make him strong. That's not batman. The same goes for people who like this. This is not batman.

since the writer for this clearly didn't put any effort into writing this, i'm not going to put any effort in this review as well. BUT making batman cheat in that situation only makes him look weak and stupid, also, the people behind this comic know that this is a batman comic so gotham IS batman's city? they think they are making a catwoman book or something?

Ok, so I have problems with this. Characters like Deadline are seriously nerfed here.(Deadline's characterization feels off too) Batman investigating was good tho, specialty when he goes to talk with Talia. That was the best part of this issue and the second best part of this whole crossover so far. But the art... I like Howard Porter's art but here, it feels so confusing and rushed. Some characters are just somewhat hard to recognize, like Respawn. The backup story feels unnecessary, and Slade's characterization feels weird. "but it's the joker gas!" I know, still, not a fan. Why retcon, again, the first time Batman and Slade fought? Not a bad issue, but again, I see some problems.

I feel secure saying that this crossover is finally at full steam. We continue to get moments of focus on the more human aspect of the characters, Damian wanting to help his new brother feels genuine and cohesive with everything we saw Damian go through all those years we spend reading comics about him. The hunt for Ra's murderer is going much faster now, Slade, who probably already know who he is, has even more motivation to wreck this guy up. Seeing Batman Inc in action is nice too. The art continues to feel weird but not much as the last issue of Batman. The comic ends with a tragic death that did hit me, what a tragic journey. A death in comics that works and has impact is so rare these days. In a way, shame, wasted potential. But if it works, it works. The backup story was the low point. Batman and Slade newest first encounter had no reason to exist. But this was a good issue, my hype with this crossover lives again.

Here we got some really nice character development with Ra's Al Ghul so the weight of his death. That's not a spoiler since DC has put this information in the synopsis for some upcoming comics. Big shame, this could have been surprising. Bruce and Damian's relationship is also explored, the best part of the whole comic in my opinion. Even Alfred's death still has some weight here. We end on a mystery, so, a very nice start overall for this crossover.

Why does this exist? I hate using the term "cash grab", and even though this doesn't really fit the description, the word definily comes to mind after reading this. Nothing here feels like it needs to exist. Black Canary's fight with Angel Breaker went nowhere, we still don't know much about the two. The only purpose of their encounter is to set up another fight in the future, feels flat and disappointing. And that's the only story that's worth mentioning. You can definitely have some fun with the rest of the comic, it isn't bad, but again, why does this exist? This is supposed to show the impact this crossover is having but it feels so small and inconsequential. It also suffers from "Character is on the main cover but plays no role in the issue". Again, this isn't a bad comic, for exemple, seeing Ghostmaker and Clownhunter as some kind of Batman & Robin is fun, but I don't think you will be losing much or feeling lost if you skip this over.

Shadow War (2022): Omega #1

This crossover was one big letdown, full of inconsistencies, boring and unnecessary long. First, let's talk about what they did to Brion here and how it makes zero sense. Terra never died in today's continuity, he has no reason to hate Deathstroke, and what Talia did to him is way worst. Just like in the beginning, this whole crossover depends on inconsistencies and that the reader forgets certain things, but, it also mentions some previous comics. So, it wants you to remember certain things, but not all things that is referencing. This is lazy writing. The way Brion gets taken down is just as stupid as Talia beating Slade in a fair fight. Also, it feels wrong, the fact that Talia kills a man who did nothing wrong to her, shows no remorse, but does not kill the one who's actually guilty here. Making the message of the comic pointless and empty. Turning Geo-force into a murderer and a villain is stupid enough, it kills the point of character, but how they made it here is even worst. The only moment that could be good, Batman talking with his son, gets thrown away. I find no redeeming aspects here, even the art is weird at some places. About the epilogue now. Another thing that makes zero sense. Did the writer forget that Slade can heal himself from that type of injury? Everyone knows that Slade has a healing factor, he has survived worst things, why would the society feel the need to use the Lazarus pit on him? Oh, yeah, plot. This is supposed to connect to Dark Crisis. It was one of the selling points. But the connection comes only in the last pages. Since we're getting a new writer and a new arc about Slade's origin in Deathstroke Inc., and looking at how this event did with the title, I also fear that DS inc has been thrown under the bus for nothing. Wasted potential. Reminds me of what they did to MJS Thor run for Siege. This could have been great. Make Slade be the one who killed Ra's, he would have reason to, Make Talia ask for Geo-Force's help to take Slade down. Make Geo-force the hero and Slade the villain. Also, don't kill Respawn. Remember the term "woman on the fridge"? Even tho he's not a woman, they just introduced him, to kill him, to give Slade a reason to attack Talia. This is also lazy writing.

Shadow War Collected

What would happen if M. Night Shyamalan made a comic First of all, I would like to explain my point of view. I was following all the titles involved here, I genuinely loved Robin, I thought Batman was not amazing but good and Deathstroke was ok if not good too. Williamson hyped this on twitter as a Batman vs Deathstroke event and I was all in for that, Batman inc. vs the society of Super Villains with Slade as the leader? Please, inject this on my veins. And then this came out. What a waste. First of all, this isn't really a war, it doesn't feel like one. Batman: War of Jokes and Riddles is a war. This is a quick, unespired and lazy story. Shadow Hunt would be a better name, but I guess the word war means more sales. The original premise is completely ruined by an unnecessary and lazy plot twist. Imagine a similar story but with Deathstroke really killing Ra's and Batman, Robin and Talia going after him. But then a actual war happens, not just the League attacking and huting Slade, a war, that lasts for months. But enough talking about what this could have been, let's talk about what it is. Shadow War makes poor use of it's characters. Only Talia and Brion feel like real characters(but not good ones), the rest is just people to be put on covers to sell. The new character, Angel Breaker, is a waste of time. She's there in the hopes of making some easy money for the writer if one day they pick her up for something else. She kills a character that already existed for years, Deadline, to show she's serious and thats it. About Deadline, did Williamson read the previous Deathstroke book? Why does he likes Slade now? What about his hand? Anyway. Also, about Slade, just like in Deathstroke Inc he continues to be just a punching bag, and an empty one. He's not a character, he's a plot device. On top of that, he's super out of character. According to Superman himself, Slade is the world's best tactician, but here, he's show as just an idiot with a sword(since that's easier to write). Batman almost does nothing here too, he has a good reunion with Damian but most of the dialogue with the two is insanely forced. Damian almost has a good conclusion about his story with Respawn but then Respawn dies to move the plot. Yes, in 2022 a character gets friged to motivate others. Good job! And we have Geo-force... The character that dies for real here is him. Character assassinated for an unnecessary plot twist. The art is just ok if not bad at some points. Some characters like Respawn can be seen out of model and others with clothes that they should not be using(like, what was that cape with hood Slade uses? Did the artist confused him with the impostor Deathstroke?) How it all ends is ridiculous, characters getting defeated in contrived ways that should not be possible. Slade dies again, but this time he needs the Lazarus pit to come back? Did Williamson also not read his own Deathstroke series? This is also supposed to lead in to Dark Crisis but it does a poor job at that too, the connection to Dark crisis comes in only one page at the end that just raises questions which answers keep flip flopping. There is also a short story that breaks continuity and makes it so that Slade fought Batman first, therefore, impling he's a Batman related character. And that's super pointless, since after that he's put again as a Titans related character in Dark Crisis. What I'm trying to say is that most of the stuff here has no reason to exist. It has no vision, no purpose, no planning, no consistency. The tie ins are also pointless, making everything feel like a joke even. This is nothing but another soulless crossover.

First things first, wasn't Jericho, using Slade's body, the one who shot Impulse? Or am I remembering it wrong? Anyway. This issue was... something. The face your trauma part felt rushed, forced even. The conflict between our main trio didn't flow naturally, in my opinion. I liked the artwork but sometimes how the characters emote don't fit with what they are saying. Like when Superboy talks about being trapped in other planet. This issue jumps from one place to another so quickly that one can say this is all over the place, every section, every argument, feels like a parody. Maybe this is on purpese and maybe this is a good thing, but I just don't know. Trying to get what this wants to say is somewhat confusing. And it ends like issue 2, with a tease about who the main characters are going to fight next. Let's just hope the next issue utilizes its main threat better.

Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum (2024) #1

This a nothing issue. For a first issue nothing here happens to get you excited to read the next one. Yeah, arkham cells are open, so what? this is just another day there, we're talking about Arkham after all. Feels weird how Batman is portrayed here... like, now that his identity is public there is no way he would be able to operate like that, he would be enemy of the police again, Arkham Knight's ending was about that, how now he can't keep being Batman like he was before. About the characters, not much to talk about it so far. But i must say, not a fan of what they did to Deadshot. This "oh, the other one was a imposter" just makes zero sense and makes the universe more convoluted. Think about it, Batman fought the imposter about 3 times at least, and never talked about how that guy was a fake Deadshot, always treated him like the real one. Is he stupid? The world's greatest detective did not know this? Also, did he never fought the real Deadshot then? They should have thought about this and just used the old Deadshot. Yeah, this is not on the comic, it's a game problem, sorry. Besides that, if you're going to do this, at least make the new deadshot a cool character. Both in game and here he's whiny and annoying. Just like the game, this is just a cash grab for DC. The art is cool tho.

Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum (2024) #2

I considered issue 1 a nothing issue, since nothing of significance happened to make you excited for this new comic series, but not an completely incompetent comic. However, I don't think i can say the same about today's issue. This is straight up a bad comic. For starters, continuity errors. The comic opens with Killer Moth getting beat up but if you played, and payed attention to, Arkham Knight you know this is impossible since the character is dead on the Arkham verse. I know, in the game they make this mistake to, and that just goes to show how much the people behind this project care. On top of that, the comic is super slow, yoy think after the end of issue 1 setting up a prison scape this one would be fast paced with decent action but no, it's super slow. After that we get some commentary about prison guard brutality and I don't know how to feel about that. If the guards were shown mistreating regular inmates, i could get behind the characters but we're talking about Batman's villains. Harley in this universe for instance has killed children after months of torture. I can't feel bad about these characters, they are the worst of the worst after all. What I'm saying is that the topic is interesting but poorly implemented and half way through it gets thrown out of the window anyway. We also get to see why Deadshot hates Deathstroke so much and it's just the most bland and generic reason you can think of. Deathstroke also feels bland, having pretty much zero personality here, he doesn't feel like Arkham Deathstroke at all. And he has worked in teams before with other villains so his talk about not working with other assassins feels a little bit out of place. The artwork is lefts to be desired too, with characters looking off model and hard to recognize in certain pages. So, we have bad continuity, a whatever story, bland characters and the art is far from the best. Besides, the hype for the SS game is dead at this point. I see no reason to follow this series anymore.
