Overall, this oversized (and overpriced) annual packs a lot to content to enjoy. There are very few hiccups, so if you enjoyed past issues or are curious to see what this BOOM! series is all about, this has something for everyone. This is a comic that will be in plenty of Best of The Year articles.

King and Finch are off to a roaring start. This issue is a fun and exciting read for anyone and everyone. In the coming weeks, this reviewer will be happy to examine future issues for your review-reading pleasure.

Hopefully, Abnett can find a groove and put some his better ideas to good use. Until that time comes, Aquaman is still hard to recommend to anyone other than huge fans. If you dont like the character, this comic is not going to convince you otherwise.

Detective Comics is off to a great start. Tynion IV has always had a knack for writing secondary Gotham characters, so this is obviously where he should be. With the current art team, this series has a lot going for it.

Superman: Rebirth #1 is not perfect, but its not awful either. Tomasi has already shown that hes able to write a compelling Superman and no amount of nostalgia cash-grabs is going to change that. The upcoming Superman #1 will hopefully be a more proper start. If DC focuses more on telling great stories and less on pleasing people that arent even their customers (and never will be), things should be just fine.

This is a very fun start to Batmans post-Rebirth adventures; Tom King has already convinced this reviewer that this series is in capable hands. Reading Snyders All-Star Batman will be nice, but I wouldnt sleep on King. If you can find room on your pull list, this is a book that should be on there. Hes the right man to take Batman in some interesting directions.

Future Quest is an absolute gem. This is the best version of these characters that we could ever hope for. Since DC wants to ship books twice a month, they should consider that strategy forFuture Quest. Simply put, we cant get enough.

Its immensely satisfying to look at the monthly top-selling comics and see that Power Rangers is doing well. Great books deserve to be supported and this is a truly great book. The entire creative team is doing some of their best work. Get on board the Ranger train before you get left behind.

If you can get past the ‘playing it safe' approach tothis first issue, it can actually be a fun read. The creative team is wonderful, so well need to keep an eye on this title. Perhaps future issues will turn things upside down and give us something from Frank that we didnt even know that we needed.

Its usually hard to recapture what made the original(s) so special to so many people, but IDW doesnt have that problem in the slightest. Maybe its the fact that they have (co-creator and producer) Bob Gale assisting with the project. Regardless, IDWs batting average is skyrocketing.

This is not just a great series for a Power Rangers fan; this is just a great comic that needs to be read by everyone. You owe it to yourself to at least give it a shot.

This series has already knocked down the notion that comic book adaptations of mega franchises cant have anything valuable to say. This is a book that needs to be on everyones radar. Its easily shaping up to be one of 2016s best comics.

Most comic fans are reading Batman. If youre not, then I really dont know what to tell you other than you are completely missing out of one of the best modern takes on the character. This issue is near the top of the list of best Snyder comics.

This isnt just another Spider-Man title. This is THE Spider-man title. Peter Parker will always be great, but as long as Bendis is in creative control of Miles, this will continue to be the best Spider-Man title on the market. No matter what universe Miles lives in, hes the king.

If youre wondering if this series is worth your time, the answer is yes. Issue Zero offers a little glimpse of things to come and its looking like the future is very bright for the Power Rangers. Its Morphin Time, indeed.

If youre reading Darth Vader or even if you just want a single Vader story to read, you should really pick this up. Theres enough original material to warrant the price of admission. The story that the Vader series is telling isnt advanced in any way, but were fine with that.

Basically, this first issue never gives us a reason to believe that this will be new and stand out from the crowd. There are far too many high quality Marvel titles to waste time and money on Spidey. Once again, this is not a terrible comic and diehard Spider-Man fans may want to get it regardless, but this comic cant be recommended beyond that. Its a real shame because this could have been something truly special.

We have really lucked out. This is a trulygreat comic. Back To The Future is a sacred franchise and IDW has gone out of its way to make sure this is done right. Heres to many more stories with Marty and Doc.

With only two more issues left, this issue is bittersweet. Archies Mega Man is going on a hiatus. Were not sure what the future holds for this great series, but Archie hasnt let us down yet. This issue is a great example of why we need a series like Mega Man.

Its really not hyperbole when I say that this is one of the best Batman issues in years. This is more than likely the best issue in Snyders run and probably the best Batman comic since Morrisons RIP. Its actually kind of friendly to new readers, so you really have no excuse to miss out on such a true gem.

This series is proof that some people just get better with age. Simonson? The man still has it. Martin? Even just the colors are worth the price of admission. Plus, everything is so metal.

Once again, this isn't a bad issue, but we sure as heck deserved much more. With Mega Man ending, we're running out of time for quality stories. Maybe that's why this feels like such a tremendous missed opportunity.

This entire creative team consists of genetic freaks, grown in a lab for the sole purpose of writing powerful Batman stories. Or, at least, I think that's true. Either way, go buy Batman.

If youre looking for a Sharknado story that isnt terrible, this is the comic for you. The concept is still ridiculous, but its nothing that clever writing and Archie cant fix. You owe it to yourself to pick this up and have a few laughs.

There is always a lot to love about Mega Man, but a Mega Man comic with Sonic and Street Fighter? Thats on a whole other level of pure awesomeness. The Archie Action! line is somehow getting even cooler.

Snyder and Capullo have a truly intriguing concept on their hands. Instead of ham-handedly throwing said concept at the wall and applying zero depth (like the whole Superior Spider-Man story), these guys have managed to change things up and provide new insight into a character that has been around for over 76 years. Thats not exactly an easy feat to accomplish.

Are you mad thatthey changed Batman? Suck it up, loser. This is Snyder and Capullo and this comic is just as great as the rest. You wont regret it.

Groot just goes to show how well Marvel is handling properties that aren't X-Men and Fantastic Four. This title has two wonderful creators that know how to make something truly special.

If youre on the fence about this title, you need to rectify your colossal mistake immediately. Ragnark is the coolest comic on the stands. Simonsons run on Marvels Thor is one of the greatest runs in comic book history, but Ragnark also deserves to have its place in Simonsons line of great works.

Its safe to say that Fight Club 2 lives up to the hype. Its everything that we loved about the first entry and then some. Will things be even crazier than before? Lets hope so. Bring on issue 2!

A-Force is so much fun. Seriously, you cant go wrong with a comic that has She-Hulk as the leader and Captain Marvel punching a freakin shark. All comics should be required to have Carol Danvers punching something.

As a huge DC Comics junkie, this reviewer is going to read the rest of this hot garbage. However, you should not. At this point, the main story doesnt have enough redeeming qualities. Except for when Doctor Hurt shows up. Maybe this should all be all about Doctor Hurt. That would save Convergence in a hurry.

Ian Flynn and Odagawa make one heck of a team. Issue 48 is a great end to a fantastic arc. It really doesnt get any better than this.

In a move shocking no one, Mega Man #47 is as brilliant as the other 46 issues. The lack of plot development is padded by exciting action and character development. You really cant ask for much more than that.

Are you a fan of Jem and The Holograms? Then you should really read this. Are you not a fan? It doesnt matter. Read it. There are other books that claim to be all about female empowerment, but this is the one thats actually doing it and doing it in a way that makes it for everyone.

For a first issue, Bill and Ted's Most Triumphant Return makes a solid case for reading the other 5. It can't be recommended to everyone, but fans are finally getting their due. I can't wait for issue 2.

Guardians Team-Up is a title that cannot be recommended. We live in a time of high quality comics and there are simply too many great books out there to waste your time with this one. Unless youre a die-hard Guardians or Marvel fan and you buy just about every title (like me), you can skip out on this one.

Just when we thought Mega Man couldnt get any better, Flynn blows our minds. Odagawa then takes your blown mind and reforms it as he sees fit. Story and art have come together to give Mega Man a comic worthy of the property.

Flynn is still the Mega Man master and now Odagawa is drawing it? This is like a beautiful dream that I dont want to wake up from. Odagawas name is plastered on the remaining issues of this arc. We cant wait for the next chapter.

Well, it looks like Endgame could be Snyder and Capullos best. If that last page is anything to go by, things are about to get even crazier. This is Batman comics at its absolute finest.

If it wasnt for such wonky story explanations, this issue could easily be one of the best. Its nothing that should take away from what has been a fantastic arc, so at least theres some comfort there. On a positive note, the next issue cant get here fast enough.

Ant-Man is one of the better first issues. More of a Superior Foes is never a bad thing. Having Scott Lang be so darn endearing bodes well for the future of Marvel and their march towards complete brand synergy.

This may sound like were stroking Snyder and Capullos egos, but thats not the case. Hands down, this is one of the greatest Joker stories in history and thats a history that goes back a long way. Take it from a guy that has read plenty of Batman stories from every era, this is truly one of the best.

Cliffhangers aside, this is another great issue to a great story arc and an even greater series. Mega Man is still one of Archies best. You really should be reading,

If there is only one Marvel title you can get this week, you better make it this one. Its such a great time and is already the best 616 Spidey book on the stands. You owe it to yourself to give this a try.

Each issue of Nailbiter thats released just adds more and more to the larger mystery. Williamson handles the confusion with grace so that the reader never feels overwhelmed. Issue 8 is the best yet and you just know things can only get better from here.

If youre not reading Deathstroke, it is very possible that its not your cup of tea. On the flip side, this might be just the series you need. We all need some dumb fun. Theres Die Hard to make us think and Die Hard with a Vengeance to put a smile on our faces. Long live this preposterous Deathstroke.

Forty issues in, IDWs TMNT somehow manages to get better and crazier. Even though the Turtles are so popular, it still feels like this series is an underrated gem flying under everyones radar. If you still arent reading this, you need to catch up as soon as possible.

Despite the annoyingly obvious themes, this run is still worth sticking around for. Wonder Woman is in a very interesting place and Meredith Finch has shown us she knows what makes a character like Diana interesting. Going forward, well keep an eye on this title to see where things go from here.

As far as the backup goes, the art is much better than the story. Its not as stylish as Capullos work, but it has a classic tone thats almost reminiscent of Darwyn Cookes work. Thats high praise. Its also deserved. If it wasnt for the bumbling story to the backup, this issue would be borderline perfect. Snyder and Capullo are somehow getting better. Its almost scary how incredible they are.

If anybody was considering getting rid of this title, be warned. Velvet is back and better than ever. You might not want to give up on it.

Mega Man 3 is a classic game and the current arc is certainly making the story even better. At this rate, Gemini Man should be getting his own solo title. I wouldn't be able to resist that.

This is truly the end of an era. Wonder Woman hasn't been this great in years and it's sad to see it sail off into the sunset. The new creative team looks promising, but they have some enormous shoes to fill. I don't think anybody would live up to the standards that Azzarello and Chiang have set.

On artwork alone, this issue is at least worthy of 4 stars. However, the story is so poor that it ends up bringing the art down with it and makes this new series a dont buy. There are far too many great comics, so dont waste your time and money on this. Poor Bucky deserves better than this.

As far as first issues go, Gotham Academy is certainly one of the more intriguing ones. We dont have many plot details yet, but Cloonan and Fletcher are keeping us hooked with a fun protagonist. For the foreseeable future, this comic is going to stay on the pull list.

Even though theres plenty to drive you mad, the story ends on a higher note than expected. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky. This could have been much worse.

If there is one book that you pick up this week, it should probably be this one. Spider-Gwen only has one appearance under her belt, but shes already taking the internet and comics world by storm. Its praise thats well-placed.

The story seems to be getting better, even though the art appears to be getting worse. Regardless, Spider-Man 2099 is still one of Marvels more interesting comics. Its Peter David and Miguel OHara, so that shouldnt come as a surprise.

Nitpicking aside, Slott deserves credit for making a comeback. Thats not easy to do after falling flat on your face. Can Learning to Crawl stick the landing? After this issue, we think it just might.

Part of the finale falls flat, but this is certainly not a bad comic. The next arc sounds interesting, so this series will only get better. It always does.

Questionable art aside, New Avengers will still leave you speechless. Hickmans focus on characters and the massive twist at the end make this a thrill from start to finish. Bring on Time Runs Out!

Superior ended and most of us never gave it a second thought. We just put down issue #31 and moved on. Issue #32 makes us yearn for the previous Spidey to the point where Marvel should really find a way to have both Otto and Peter around.

Despite the letdown, this is still a very competent comic. Remenders Marvel epic is far from over and things should be getting even more exciting very soon. If you were upset by this issue, I wouldnt jump overboard just yet.

Tie-in aside, this is another fine issue of the relaunched Amazing Spider-Man. Most people are probably already reading this, but if youre not, maybe you should give Slott and Ramos one more try.

Despite just a few complaints, the current Mega Man X crossover is still a worthy read. Its going to be very interesting to see where this series is headed. Hopefully, its headed to your pull list.

Man, Rat Queens is so awesome. Its story progression keeps things exciting and the humor is still there to make you smile. Are you reading Rat Queens yet? You really should be. Go buy it. Now.

Overall, this issue was a disappointment. The first two issues set a standard that simply couldnt continue to be met. Perhaps the next issue will give us a reason to be excited, but for now, well have to be severely underwhelmed.

Despite being nothing more than setting a stage, this is a great start to a new series. Everything that you love about Miguel is still there, even though his surroundings have drastically changed. If theres any guy who can keep up with Spidey 2099, its Peter David. Now, who do I need to talk to in order to get a new Punisher 2099 series?

With characterization this great, Bendis could probably save the whole Ultimate universe. Thankfully, hes focusing on Miles and his cast, which at this point are the only Ultimate characters that truly matter. In a world of convoluted mistakes, Miles is the undisputed king.

If we wanted the movie Electro, we would wait for the Blu-ray. Despite that nonsense, issue #3 is still another fine improvement from past Slott stories. Any Spidey fan worth his salt should be happy with the relaunch.

Issue 32 has it all. It has solid character work, stunning art, and Batman. Batman is always a great thing to have in your comic. Who's pumped for the Zero Year finale?

Even with a few hiccups, theres nothing major enough to spoil the entire experience. Mega Man is still one of Archies finest, so dont let these few nitpicks scare you away. We cant wait to see how the rest of the X crossover plays out.

Thanks to Hickman, the Avengers epic continues despite a forced tie-in. Caps moments are intense and a fierce look into the character, which is just what the series needed. Lets get more of that, please.

Is it safe to say this is one of the greatest runs on Wonder Woman? It surely appears to have shaped up that way. Wonder Womans war with The First Born will hopefully be a defining moment for the character. If this issue is any indication, it will be.

Tie-in or not, Robinson and new artist Mark Laming keep this train rolling. Seeing Hammond in different scenarios and growing as a character looks to be a growing charm of the series. For now, hes the star of the show and at this point and any other team members appearance is just a bonus.

It feels good to be this excited for a Parker story. Theres so much to appreciate about Learning to Crawl. Two issues in, were already dealing with some serious magic. This story truly needs to be read.

If this series isnt on your pull list, you need to make room. Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man is simply the best. In fact, its so good that even though the Ultimate universe is convoluted and worthless garbage, it manages to shine through like a diamond. Now that is some high praise.

Even if were ready for a new storyline, you cant deny the recent brilliance of Snyder and Capullo. Its the hidden meanings that go beyond the page that make this creative team so special. When theyre on a roll, theres really no stopping them.

With plenty going on, you are not going to want to miss an issue of Mega Man. Flynn moves forward with this long-awaited crossover, placing the story together like a true pro. We really cant recommend Mega Man enough.

Thats two Spidey books in a row that have truly impressed. Slotts Silver Surfer series is awesome too, so maybe this is the beginning of a beautiful trend. If not, whatever. Lets just take it an issue at a time and enjoy the great Spider-Man issues while we can.

Its painful to see the high quality of this title take a bit of a dip, but there are still reasons to be optimistic. Robinson has a very interesting plan for the FF. Once we start getting into the center of the conflict, things should run a little more smoothly and issues like this one will be less likely to occur.

This book initially appeared to be another crappy retread of Spideys origin or perhaps a bad imitation of the classic Batman: Year One. Its actually neither of those things. Slott has simply found a story that takes place during Parkers early days and runs with it in grace and style. Thats to be commended. A great story is a great story, whether youre treading on sacred ground or not.

Even though this is a number one, Bendis and Marquez have just picked up where things have left off and the quality has not dropped one bit. New readers shouldnt worry, though. This is also a nice point to jump on the bandwagon. There are so many questions left unanswered. Bendis will surely address everything and leave us in a complete state of shock. Bring it on, Bendis. Give us your best shot.

The basic premise of Original Sin has the potential to be great. In order it to take that next step, Aaron/Marvel needs to pick an angle and just roll with it. Sometimes, just having a powerful story is enough to please both old and new fans, no matter how steeped in Marvel history it is. They should try to do that.

This issue is a bit of a mixed bag. Bendis Guardians material is just as good as it always is. Its the other two stories that arent exactly exciting. Oh, well. At least it was free!

The New 52 Futures End #1 is coming to shops on May 7th, so the time to get on board is now. DC has a tradition of high quality titles that release weekly and this series should be the same. This is going to be a fun ride.

Even though the issue is a tad pricey, theres actually a lot of material. As far as a Slott Spidey run goes, this is a solid enough start and definitely something to go on. Theres plenty of pieces moving in the Spideyverse and you know that All-Comic will be guiding you through the whole thing. Stay tuned!

Mega Man #36 is an interesting chapter that is perfect for new readers. It establishes whats been going on in the series, while setting things up for the future. The events of both Mega Man 3 and Mega Man X are going to be very fun to read about.

This is a wonderful Fantastic Four run. The focus on relationships is going a long way towards making this long-form story much more exciting and appealing. Were only three issues in, so this is a good time to catch up.

While the more expensive price on the cover is a major pain, Marvel has made up for that with a very spectacular 100th issue. Can we please have an original Guardians series? The current state of Marvel universe is practically begging for them to show up.

By and large, Original Sin is off to one heck of a start. Waid writes intriguing characters and plots, while Cheung and Medina work together to bring some impressive art together. Its hard to tell how this series will turn out, but so far, things are looking pretty great.

Ultimate FF is rough around the edges, but still has a lot going for it. Its an exciting team and it will be fun to see where this goes. With so many great comics on the market, its hard to recommend this title. It has the potential to get there, though.

If Zero Year is going to be this good, then it can go ahead and last forever. Snyder and Capullo are really rolling. Its redundant to tell anybody to buy this series, since everybody is buying it. Buy two copies?

Everybody has a different opinion about Superior Spider-Man. If nothing else, it got people talking and shook things up for a bit. Sometimes you need to do things like this to help you realize what makes a character so special in the first placeand Peter Parker is something truly special.

Seriously, if youre a Mega Man fan and not reading this series, shame on you. This book deserves your attention. Heck, it deserves everyones attention.

After two serious volumes of Secret Avengers, its actually a nice change up to laugh. Kots writing is clever and the book is visually appealing. Plus, were getting some reasons for certain characters to exist in the first place, which is always a good thing.

The other Ghost Riders are cool. Nobody will ever be as awesome as Johnny Blaze. Daniel Ketch was kind of stupid, but he certainly had his moments. None of that matters, though. Robbie Reyes is an appropriate hero for this generation. The best suggestion would be for you to catch up before this series passes you by.

If youre reading this, then that means youre already failing. You need to run to your comic shop (or Comixology) and buy Green Lantern. Venditti is both the architect and the demolisher of the GL universe. Something that needs to be seen by all.

While an improvement from the first OGN, Family Business is still a messy book with no sense of direction. You could do worse than this, but there are a ton of better Spider-Man stories to start noobs off right. At this point, Marvel OGNs are looking pretty messy.

However you feel about the current arc, we can assure that Hickman is going somewhere with it. Hes a master of his craft and when things finally come together, its truly a sight to behold. With Larroca helping out, Avengers continues to be on top of the Marvel pile.

Sometimes Hickmans works can be a chore, but once you wrap your head around it, it becomes terribly beautiful. Now that Rags Morales is on board, you really couldnt ask for a better creative team. Look out, because New Avengers is out to reclaim its title as the number 1 Marvel series.

Theres one issue of Superior left. Soon, The Amazing Spider-Man will be back. Even though it will still be Slott behind the wheel, one cant help but be excited. Peter Parker is not a superhero, hes the superhero. It will be fun to see what happens.

With a great creative team, Avengers World has a lot going for it. Its refreshing to take a step back and see what Starbrand is going through. If Spencer wants to write a Starbrand solo series, you wouldnt get any complaints on this end.

This book is still awesome. Dont let this issue fool you. Jonathan Hickman is a wonderful writer and Rags Morales is coming to save the art, so feel free to keep this on your pull. Soon enough, well be back to our regularly scheduled awesomeness.

Superman Unchained is ending with issue 9, so we only have 3 issues left. Thats probably not enough time for Snyder to properly present this event. Only time will tell, though. For what its worth, this issue is a great example of how fun Snyders Superman can be.

While this may not be a great issue for noobs, it does everything that a longtime fan needs it to. Robinson has started the teams fall and hints that it will get ugly very quickly. With Leonard Kirk on board, that ugliness will sure look pretty. The new Fantastic Four is definitely a keeper.

A vast enhancement over past issues, issue #29 brings us closer to a satisfying conclusion to The Superior Spider-Man saga. Despite some awful plot decisions, Slott and Gage still have fans reeled in for the epic conclusion. With only two issues left, how will Parker come back to save the day?

Once again, the quality of Green Lantern cannot be stressed enough. If Wonder Woman wasnt so perfect, this would be the best DC title. Venditti deserves an immense amount of praise for taking the reins from Geoff Johns and creating a whole new world of greatness. The best part is that hes done this by solid character development. You need to read this series.

Yost and To are a great team for a series like New Warriors. They have what it takes, but the noobs are going to need a little something extra. At the moment, there are so many great comics. Yost needs to find a hook to reel everybody in.

Wolverine and The X-Men has seen better days. The new #1 will alienate both longtime readers and new ones, so this issue will satisfy no one. There are some positives to take from this, but its not enough. Issue 2 will really need to impress if Marvel expects anybody to stick with this series.

Any Mega Man fan thats been drooling over the Mega Man X solicitations needs to jump on issue 34. This is some really groovy stuff. Mega Man is certainly not for everybody, but it has a childish charm that leaves many fans (me included) very happy. Long live Mega Man and long live X.

Cataclysm was fun, so it sucks to see it receive such a lackluster ending. Im sure well get our answers at some point, but it will come with a cost and more solicits for the future of a universe that should have just ended. The Ultimate universe is more convoluted than the 616, which defeats its original purpose. Why keep it around? Bring Miles over to the regular Marvel U and call it a day.

Despite a few of the usual snags, Slott has impressed me for at least an issue. Things will inevitably go south again, but Ill take a decent Spider-Man issue whenever I can. As we approach the end of Superior, we can at least say that Marvel tried something different. On occasion, we even got a decent comic out of it.

The Tomb Raider reboot is a great game and now its a comic series with some potential. While the first issue isnt perfect, Gail Simone presents us with the same Lara we love from the game, with the possibility of some interesting character polishing. For anybody whos a fan of the game, this just might be the comic for you.

Lemire has put an end to the action, now he only needs to put a bow on everything so we can have some type of closure. This issue was a great reminder of what made me fall in love with Animal Man in the first place. Its going to be depressing to see this series go.

Avengers World is currently less plot-driven and more about getting into the heads of characters most people havent been exposed to. Shang-Chi is a guy that deserves some attention, especially since hes getting his own summer mini-series. This should bring the hype for a solo story.

New Warriors #1 is a decent comic. If it wasnt for the current state of comics, it would probably be higher on my list of recommendations. If you want to give it a shot, you could always do worse. Yost gives us just enough to have high hopes for future issues. Plus, I will buy anything with Scarlet Spider in it.

Hickman is still on top of his game. This is still a really great issue, despite being one of the weaker in the series. As seen in the final pages, there continues to be a plan in place and it looks like things will get more exciting.

While not exactly recommendable, Superior #27.Now is much better and gives a glimmer of hope for a decent ending to the era of Spidey-Ock. This series started out with a bang, but quickly became the inconsistent and poorly written crapfest that Amazing had become. At least theres another Spider-Man title coming.

If youre looking for value, this is probably the best deal in comics. Both titles have been two of DCs best. At this point, Venditti and Soule can do no wrong. Add Tan and Vitti to the mix and this book is worth well beyond the $2.99 price tag. Well done, DC.

New Avengers keeps on rolling and Hickman continues to make things compelling as heck. The art isnt what it used to be, but its serviceable enough to not ruin the story. Oh, and did I mention Doom is in this issue?

Wolverine #1 probably wont drag in these new readers that Marvel is convinced actually exist, but to anybody already in the know, its business as usual. Cornells run is truly impressive and now he has Stegman. If Stegman stays for a while, this book will be hard to top.

Its odd how this issue worked out. The main plot is better than the flashbacks, but the flashbacks art is better than the main plots. These things happen, I suppose. In any case, things are still looking decent for the future of the Green Lantern franchise and Venditti/Jansen achieve this by completely wrecking our heroes lives. All is how it should be.

Creatively, Superior Spider-Man #26 is a massive failure on numerous levels. If it wasnt for the limited artwork of two talented artists, this book would have nothing of value to offer. This is a sad day for Spider-Man.

Even if the art isnt what it used to be, Hickman comes through and knocks this issue out of the park. Avengers is still one of the best titles Marvel has to offer. With another piece of the story in the books, things are looking to get even more exciting.

Avengers World #2 is not what we thought it might be, but its still a great issue. Hickman and Spencer are too good to pass up and Caselli is drawing his tail off. I hope the rest of the All-New Marvel Now! books are this awesome.

Batman #27 is a beautiful issue that has some wonderful characterization that we have come to expect from Snyder. Its not a perfect issue, but there is enough juicy bits to make you forget some of the past Zero Year nonsense. Good job, gentlemen.

As time goes by, I could see FF go down as one of those underrated gems. This series didnt get the attention that it deserved, but perhaps it will at a later time. From start to finish, this volume of FF was a true work of art.

This Fantastic Four volume suffered from a change in creative teams, but it seems to have all come together at the end. Anybody who loved Fractions initial issues will be reminded of why they loved this run in the first place. The new creative team has been handed a nice place to pick up their story. As a lifelong fan of the Fantastic Four, Im excited to see what 2014 has in store for Marvels First Family.

You may be wondering why I called this one of the best issues, considering there is so much wrong with it. Well, thats how terrible Superior has been. The Goblin War stuff is almost guaranteed to be dreadful, so it might be a good idea to wait until the new Amazing Spider-Man #1. Well, Slott and Ramos are attached to that too, so maybe you should avoid that as well.

Theres really not much to complain about. At present time, Green Lantern has everything that anybody would ever want in a superhero story. Our ring slingers are up to their necks in drama and Venditti is sure to keep putting these guys through his gauntlet.

Avengers World is off to a great start. If there must be a book that replaces one of my two Hickman Avengers issues every month, Im glad that this is it. With Casellis pencils and Spencers knack for anything involving SHIELD/Avengers-relations, we appear to be in capable hands.

Hickmans incredible story is the saving grace of this issue. The art is very ugly and will sometimes pull you out of the story. Fortunately theres enough sweet Hickman goodness to warrant the price of admission.

If anybody dropped Superman Unchained, I would suggest giving this issue a try. Snyder wrote his tail off and the art is truly spectacular. If this is a sign of things to come then count me in.

Snyder and Capullo are a great team. Zero Year is not a great event. Hopefully, things will get better as things start to wrap up, but this is taking forever. Its hard to get me to not care about a Batman story, but DC is sure doing a heck of a job trying.

There is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that this is a decent story and has some interesting characterization set up. The bad news is that story isnt written well and a few pages will have you tearing your hair out in frustration. Personally, Im on board for at least a few issues. Take that for what its worth.

This is a very poor issue. Thats a shame, especially since this book sells no matter what and Marvel will never get the hint that a creative change is sorely needed. Things look like they could get better, but Ive been burned by those promises before. Its hard to recommend this title until we can get an arc that plays more to the writers strengths or a change in creators (this is the more preferable option).

I spend a massive chunk of my time on social media, promoting this title. Its unbelievably magnificent. If you have ever been interested in superhero comics as a character study, then this is the book for you. If you just want to see Hal punch ugly aliens in the face, well.this book is still for you.

Superior Spider-Man doesnt quite deliver what the cover promises, but the premise is set for an epic matchup. The seeds continue to be planted for future stories and there is foreshadowing out the wazoo. This isnt the best issue of Superior, but it presents the case to hang on for just a little longer.

Infinity is one of the best major events in years. If you have been reading Avengers and New Avengers along with it, its even better. All writers of future events need to look at how Infinity was done and take some notes. This entire event has left me with a sense of satisfaction that DC/Marvel hasnt given me since Infinite Crisis and Civil War.

New Avengers allows Infinity #6 to have a clean ending by taking the burden of the sales pitch of things to come. That being said, Hickman still manages to give us the goods and gives us no reason to believe that the drama and excitement will stop after Infinity. Hickman has closed Infinity on a high note and I cant wait for what comes next in New Avengers.

Even though the art takes a step back, this issue still does everything else that you need it to do. Plot-wise, this is one of the best parts of Infinity yet and I personally cant wait until next weeks Infinity #6. Avengers Assemble, indeed.

Superior Spider-Man Annual #1 is a dark tail that is a nice departure from the typical Slott stuff. There are a number of problems, but its a breath of fresh air compared to some of the inconsistencies in previous issues. The $4.99 price tag sucks and will turn most people off. Actually, you dont even need to read this in order to understand future issues of Superior as this is a stand-alone tale. That being said, you could do far worse with your five bucks.

Despite a few annoyances, this is still a solid issue. The rotating artists will be a pain, but if Kindt can move the plot along, it should be smooth sailing and a fun ride. In all corners of The New 52, Forever Evil is making for some compelling stories.

Batman #25 is a great example of why Zero Year still matters. Sure, DC will milk this event for all its worth, but theres some solid work being done. If it wasnt for that $4.99 price tag, this would be one of the best values in comics.

Superior Spider-Man #21 is another solid outing for Slott. With so many possible futures for Spidey-Ock, this is going to be a must read title going forward. Also, next issue is Venom. Nuff said.

For Tom Taylor, this is an honorable first crack at Earth 2. Even the setbacks are things that be corrected after he gets a few issues under his belt. Earth 2 has always been a fun ride. Its terrific to see that this trend will continue.

The time is now to jump on the GL bandwagon. For whatever reason, this title doesnt get the credit that it deserves. Venditti has laid the groundwork for fantastic characterization, so its only going to get better from here.

Superman Unchained has a special something, it just needs more of it. Snyder knows how to write Superman well, he just needs to apply some proper character work to make this title unique. Hes killing it with Luthor, though.

Infinity and its Avengers/New Avengers tie-ins have been a great experience and this issue is no different. Even though there isnt as much action and plot development, Hickman leaves us stirred with some brilliantly handled character moments. This is big event comics done right.

From start to finish, Green Lantern Annual is a fascinating read and sets up a new status quo for the Lantern universe. There are not many $4.99 Annuals and Specials that seem worth the price, but this one is worth every penny. If this is the future of the Lanterns, count me in.

Superior Spider-Man is on an upswing. As stated before, the writing is maddeningly uneven, but this issue leaves fans with a ton of hope for the future. Fingers crossed that this high quality can sustain itself.

With all of the action and drama of this issue, its hard not to get swept away in it all. This sense of peril also tends to cover up some flaws in the writing. Its easy to ignore these shortcomings, but that may not always be the case. That being said, City Fall is still mindless entertainment that is quite enjoyable.

Well, its another month and another fantastic issue of Daredevil. As a fan of both Halloween and classic movie monsters, this issue was particularly great. As Waid and Samnee start to wrap things up, fans will be both sad and pleased. We dont want these guys to go, but you know they are going to send Daredevil off in style.

Man, its going to be painful to watch FF go. Its still one of the top three Marvel titles being published and is one of my personal favorites. With only 3 issues left in this current run, this is a series you will not want to miss the end of.

If youre reading Infinity, Avengers #21 is not a chapter to be missed. Hickmans impressive plans are starting to become clearer, with this issue being a true turning point for the series. With Yus pencils working their usual magic, this is another fantastic chapter of Infinity.

New Avengers #11 adds a new layer to the Infinity story. The Illuminati and their upcoming decisions could end up changing things for better or for worse. Its exciting stuff and provides a new angle to look at Infinity with.

Its a shame that Superior has been plagued with inconsistency. There is some decent material to work with that just gets squandered as arcs go on. Stegman is able to make this arc worth it, but he never sticks around long enough. Somebody needs to save Spider-Man from mediocrity. Unfortunately this title still sells well, so Marvel is in no rush to change things up.

Despite the nitpicking, this is a good issue; its just not a great one, like it should be. Whats worse, the issue has extra pages, demanding a $6.99 price tag. Would it be worth $3.99? Absolutely. $6.99? Well, not as much.

DC has really knocked this out of the park. Charles Soule and Tony S. Daniel are a wonderful team, which poses a problem: how long will they stay on this title? These guys are in demand and in todays comics, which means they usually have brief runs. Whatever the case, lets enjoy it while we can.

If you're sick and tired of the Spidey status quo, this is the mini-series for you. The story is crazy and isn't afraid to take chances, while the art is wild and some of the most beautiful comic book pages of the year. The abstract direction may not be for everybody, but anybody who loves something a little different should eat this right up.

Lights Out is off to a slightly rocky start, but that shouldnt concern fans. There are just some minor issues that do not disturb the overall narrative. Relic is a marked improvement and a foe worthy of the Lanterns, so the climax to this story should be pretty amazing.

This is another fantastic start to another great story arc. Jock allows his art to provide most of the story, which works to perfection. It may not be the most original Wolverine story, but its still one that you should be on board for.

Issue 20 is the weakest issue of the core Infinity titles (so far), but its still a fun read and is by no means a bad issue. Hickman at his absolute worst is still better than most comic writers out there. Thats high praise that he has certainly earned.

Villains Month had its moments, but Im glad to see it leave. Bane is a shining example of some of the mediocrity that this gimmick brought us. As a huge DC fanboy, I would love to see DC focus on creating incredible content instead of crappy covers and shorting stores to create scarcity.

It looks like FF is going to be just fine. With so many Allreds on the creative team, it looks like smooth sailing. Fantastic Four is still worrisome though. Well have to see how both books play out through issues #16 and beyond.

With so many Villains Month issues (DC released 14 this week), its hard to tell which ones are worth your time. Many people will buy Penguin, since it is technically a Batman issue, but unless youre a completionist, you can skip it. There isnt anything here that you havent read before and this story doesnt even lead into anything. Move along, theres nothing to see here.

New Avengers keeps up the high quality of the Infinity story. With so much at stake, the Illuminati is really in a nail-biting situation, which is something that these characters, as well as Hickman,thrive in.

This issue is even more of a marked improvement than issue 17 was. The solicits for future issues are looking pretty great too. Superior Spider-Man is really cranking things up. If the quality of the writing can stay more consistent on this level, we are in for one heck of a ride.

Infinity is incredibly interesting and with the story sweeping several titles, there is time to take a little piece of the story and run with it. This issue isnt perfect, but the political intrigue and characterization (aside from Carol Danvers) are enough to warrant reading it. Im not kidding. Captain America needs to knock J-Son out.

The Riddler is a worthy foe for Batman, and thats exactly what Snyder/Fawkes show in his solo issue. Not only is this story entertaining, but Hauns art makes it gorgeous. This is easily one of the best Villains Month issues and even if this is a gimmick from DC, The Riddler makes it worth it.

We might as well say goodbye to Fraction. Its still going to be his story, but hes no longer writing Fantastic Four or FF. While not for everybody, Fraction has added some wonderful layers to these already perfect characters. Hopefully, we wont see a dip in quality in the coming months, but its always a possibility. The Fantastic Four deserve the best and Marvel should continue to give that to them.

Mighty Avengers sets up an interesting premise. Future issues are looking very enticing, as the story is enough to keep you interested and ready for more. Luke Cage is a great character and should be leading a team book if hes not going to get a solo series. With Spider-Man on board and Avengers in the title, this book should be a high seller too.

With Villains Month now upon us, DC has graced us with the Clown Prince of Crime right out of the gate. Unfortunately, the final product leaves us feeling angry and a little jilted. Hopefully, one of these other 900 3D cover books will take this bad taste out of my mouth.

While Infinity #2 is fantastic, one must wonder how much entertainment and appreciation you can squeeze out of this story if you arent at least reading Avengers and New Avengers. All three titles are incredible, but not everybody can afford to buy numerous books, especially if its just to get one story. With both DC and Marvel screaming for your attention, it can be hard to tell what to spend your money on. Well, Infinity should be one, with Avengers and New Avengers a close second and third.

While not everything flows well, Spider-Man 2099s return is still exciting and worth a read. Coupled with Stegmans art, this arc has a lot going for it. Now lets all hope for the miracle of a consistently well written story arc.

Its going to be very sad to see Fraction leave, but well see his vision play out to its end. The only problem is that he happens to have a very particular wit about him that is very hard to duplicate. Well, having Allred stick around will help. If any artist can save a book from any sort of writing dilemmas, its him.

Anybody reading Infinity and not Avengers/New Avengers really should. Its a pain that Marvel is trying to make people buy all three, but to their credit, it is really worth it. New Avengers is one of the best of Marvel Now! and now that Infinity is in full swing, its only improving.

If youre anything like me, (somebody who has the entire 2012 TMNT toy line), this comic should be right up your alley. Byerly and Brizuela are bringing us a comic that is entertaining enough for us, but we can also share with the kiddies. Thats no easy feat, but they have managed to pull it off.

These Micro-Series issues seem to be improving. Its a breath of fresh air to step away from the main series and focus on one character even if that character is upstaged in her own issue. Its not her fault, though, she just happens to be a cool character in an even cooler plot.

Fraction is juggling a lot of different plot threads in both Fantastic Four and FF. Issue 11 piles more on, but the reader never feels burdened, only richer for all of these clever pieces.

With so much going on, it's difficult to make heads or tails of this story. Sure, we're supposed to be left in the dark until the end, but piling on all of these little plot threads is starting to make Trinity War feel like a chore. If it wasn't for the incredible dialogue and entertaining drama, this issue would get a much lower score.

It's a nice change of pace to see Superior Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider attempt to reconcile their differences, even if Kaine doesn't have the faintest clue of what's happening. Chris Yost writes both of these characters so well and having them occupy the same comic is phenomenal. A Superior/Scarlet ongoing series suddenly sounds like a great idea.

For an arc that has gone on too long and art that needs improvement, it actually could be worse. Tony is still as compelling as ever, so let's chalk this one up to an overall win. We're ready to move on, but Marvel is really making us sweat this one out.

Superior started off strong, but now it seems to be inconsistent, much like Slott's Amazing Spider-Man run. When this title is good, it is pretty darn great, so there is definitely a silver lining. Let's just hope for more of the mature presentation that makes this title so great.

Everything is looking quite grand in Venditti's Green Lantern universe. Hal is in top form and Billy Tan's art is stunning. DC has done a flawless job of bringing in new talent to work on the GL titles and fans everywhere are all the richer for it. Geoff Johns may be gone, but it's still a great time to be a Green Lantern fan.

Superior Carnage is frustrating because with a little bit of writing changes, this could be a fantastic series. Segovia's work goes a long way towards rectifying things, but more needs to be done. Hopefully, things will get better as time passes.

All of the Age of Ultron fallout seems to be a blessing and a curse. While Bendis still keeps up some solid character work, this Angela angle is coming off as bland. Knowing Bendis, hes going somewhere with this. Oh, and more Drax. Please.

This has been mentioned before, but sometimes it feels like this book isnt getting enough buzz. It really should be. This is a series thats easily in the top 5 from any publisher. Its truly an honor to review it every month.

Even though the ending feels mundane, Remender and Romita Jr. keep giving us a reason to care about Cap. Dimension Z has yet to completely be wrapped up, so be on the lookout next issue for plenty of reflection and angst from Captain America. Thats usually the most interesting Cap, in my opinion.

With Superior Spider-Month wrapping up, its safe to say that the July Spidey-titles were a success. The new titles are great and Superior continues to at least be decent. Looking forward, theres plenty of Superior madness to come and it will be a blast to talk about it.

David Lopez drew the last issue of Avenging Spider-Man, so that was a little treat of things to come. With the exception of the Avengers and FF looking a little sloppy in a few panels, this book otherwise looks great. Superior Spidey is creepy and menacing, which works well with the overall tone of Superior.With some dark humor and fun cameos, Superior Spider-Man Team-Up looks like a hit. Yost has already proven to be great at writing Spidey-Ock and seeing his little plot threads continue will be very exciting. Spidey fans shall rejoice and mourn (for your money).

After reading something written by Matt Fraction, Jonathan Hickman, or even Brian Michael Bendis, its hard to accept a book with such second-rate writing. The plot is decent and the action can be great, we just need somebody that can make this title feel like its not written by a 10-year-old. That being said, its still an enjoyable story with plenty to offer once you accept it for what it is.

Things are really starting to get interesting for the Fantastic Four. Where Fraction is taking this from here is anyones guess, but it will be quite a ride to see how things pan out. Things are also tying into FF again, so readers who are only reading one, may want to make some room on their pull list.

Dont look too much into any negative aspects that may have been mentioned this issue is still fun and worth every penny. Things are about to get interesting too, as the FF are about to embark on a rescue mission. Both Fantastic Four and FF are titles you will not want to miss.

Its hard to tell where this story is going, but it seems to be foreshadowing things in the upcoming Infinity crossover. With all the galactic nonsense surrounding 451 and Stark, one would assume that The Secret Origin of Tony Stark will have consequences down the road. Either way, its still a fun read.

This is a must-read for any Spider-Man fan. It will fill your heart with hope and remind you of why you love Spidey in the first place. Everything great about Spider-Man is crammed into one issue. I cant recommend this issue and this series highly enough.

Despite any flaws, this is still an excellent issue. Johns and Lemire are teasing us and making us wait to be blown away. The suspense is killing us, so lets hope that the end results are as powerful as DC is claiming. After two issues, Trinity War is already better than Marvels summer blockbuster (Age of Ultron), so at least it has that going for it.

Again, like Old Hob, Alopex is an IDW original character. Its great to get some backstory into characters that we know very little about. Brian Lynch makes both Alopex and Shredder very compelling and Ross Campbells artwork is fantastic. This issue has quite a bit going for it, so TMNT fans following the IDW Turtles should be very pleased.

This wasnt the conclusion that we were hoping for, but theres enough substance to work with for future issues. Next issue, Spidey-Ocks status quo is changing (again), so Slott and/or Gage were probably looking to that, much to the disadvantage of this nice little arc. Regardless, Superior is still one of the best Marvel titles.

This is a great start to a mystery that should only get better as we journey down the rabbit hole. The reader is left in the dark in many areas, but thats part of the fun. Like Identity Crisis, its a blast trying to figure out what the heck is happening. Johns has taken charge and given us a reason to care about DC again.

This is a great title that should only get better with age. Its not as compelling as Snyders Batman run, but lets give things a little more time to play out before we start making comparisons. If you really need the Man of Steel in your life, Unchained is the obvious choice.

Whether youre a kid looking to read TMNT comics for the first time or an adult who cant get enough Turtles, theres a little something for everyone. The story wont blow you away, but if you enjoy the Nickelodeon series, this is a nice companion piece. With so much doom and gloom around us, its nice to kick back and read something that reminds you of a simpler time.

As concerned as we might be over some of the changes made, this remains a fantastic series thanks to Gillens unbelievable turnaround and Eaglesham coming on board. Well wait and see how all of this plays out. This creative team has earned themselves that much, at least.

Robert Venditti and Billy have created a really enjoyable Green Lantern series. Geoff Johns run is awesome and historic, but these guys have brought a sense of wonder and excitement that was sorely needed. If these two stay on this book for a while, things should get even better.

This issue is a pleasant surprise. With Spencer and Lieber at the helm, Superior Foes has quite a bit going for it. Hopefully, this team can sustain the first issues momentum, because they just created some high expectations for themselves. Not bad for a book that once looked like it would be mediocre, at best.

If there is going to be a Shazam ongoing, lets hope that they can somehow keep Johns and Frank on the character. These guys really have these characters down to a science, and watching Billy become a hero has been a wonderful journey to be on. The New 52 is full of classic characters written and drawn all wrong. Shazam is one of the exceptions.

In the buildup to Trinity War, the pieces are starting to be set. Justice League of America is a big part of this story, but its hard to care when so much is thrown at us. Next month will probably be better, as we will get a better sense of just what the heck is happening.

Cap gets his butt kicked up and down every panel and the issue ends with nothing but heartbreak. The next issue should really be great, so if you arent already, pick this series up! Too many people are telling me that they arent on board for this run. That needs to be rectified.

Matt Fraction is continuing to make a case for FF being his best title. Its all about the characters for this guy, which makes for solid reading in every book that he writes. The Mike Allred artwork is just a bonus for a book that has everything going for it. Great work guys. This was another great issue.

Even when the Guardians are off the clock, they still manage to be exciting. Bendis and Pichelli have proved to be a solid team in the past, so it can only go up from here. Thats saying a lot, because this series is already way up there.

So far, City Fall hasnt been perfect, but its still entertaining. Its going to be interesting to see where they take this and how much (if at all) this story will impact the Turtles. If anything, an evil Leonardo has a certain ring to it.

If not for Bagley making every character look the same, this could possibly be considered a perfect issue. Matt Fraction is on a comic book writing rampage. Everything with his name on it turns to gold. Even if this series is too slow for you and you gave up on it, pick this issue up. You owe it to yourself to do so. And remember kids, Doom is inevitable.

This is a pretty impressive issue of Superior. While Slott is plotting, Gage is scripting a story that brings out a different and intriguing side to not just Otto, but some of his revolving cast as well. With comics this good, bring on Superior Spider-Month! Its sure to be a blast.

This issue was a fantastic way to get fans revved up for more of Miles inner turmoil as he struggles from hiding his power to feeling the guilt of responsibility. If we got a little more of Miles, this issue would have been even better. Perhaps Bendis is going somewhere with this Cloak and Dagger angle, so lets wait and see. Bendis hasnt let Miles down yet.

The end of Age of Ultron is here. As we look ahead to Infinity, there are many questions that need answered. There were many things to enjoy about the ending, considering you just accept it for what it is. Lets just hope that Infinity will offer less inconsistency and more substance and an actual payoff.

Thanks to Ciaramella and Wachter, Old Hob has proven to be more of an interesting character than we thought. This issue is the perfect companion for anybody enjoying the current IDW TMNT series. If only the main series was done this well on a regular basis. A Turtle fan can dream, cant he?

With a team like this, who needs friends? The Guardians are now your friends. Bendis is writing the most entertaining and fun team book in comics. Who knew a team with a talking raccoon could be so riveting?

Superman Unchained is essentially the book that we were hoping it would be. Scott Snyder writes a genuinely compelling Superman, who has a human and an alien side, while Jim Lee draws Supes to borderline perfection. This is already turning out to be one of the best books of the year. Its time to jump on the bandwagon.

Avenging has been fun and Yost really knows how to write Octavius. The next series should be more of the same, so this isnt really a goodbye. If anything, it leaves readers wondering why we need the name change in the first place.

With this series finally getting somewhere, maybe we can expect a spectacular finale. This has been one of the more frustrating crossover events, so it needs to really go out with a bang to make up for it. Heres hoping for an awesome issue 10. We deserve it.

Slott and Gage actually seem to make a great team. Issue 11 is a very enjoyable issue. The saga of Spidey-Ock is becoming more interesting than it has any right to be and with Parker officially gone, we can focus on the more interesting aspects of Otto. Peter will be back eventually, and thats great. For now, though, lets try to enjoy this ride while it lasts.

Venditti gives us a solid enough start to his run on Green Lantern. If nothing else, Tans art is enough to usher in a grand new age for the Corps. This is a very entertaining read. GL fans should be pleased and excited for the bright(est) future ahead.

Iron Man continues to improve. Gillen has turned this title into a comic that makes you chomp at the bit for the next issue. Even though this current story is taking some chances with Tonys origins, Kieron seems to have an ace up his sleeve to make it all work. Issue 12 cant come fast enough.

This book is really flying under the radar when it should be praised. Remenders Cap is incredibly both new and old. Theres many Marvel Now! titles that deserve your attention, but not at the expense of a Cap with a beard. Please, do it for the beard.

Now that this arc has wrapped up, maybe we can get back to focusing more on Spidey-Ock and what the heck is going on in his head. Thats been the most interesting part of Yosts run. He writes a very captivating Spidey-Ock. Some more of this Silence of The Lambs Chameleon would be nice too.

Fraction and Bagley are on top of their game with Fantastic Four #8. Anybody not reading this (and FF) should really rethink their life decisions. Yancy Street Dont Bend and neither does the quality of work that Fraction continues to publish for Marvel.

Slott really rocked this issue. If this is how things are going to be, the previous issue is totally forgiven. Like Chris Yosts writing in Avenging Spider-Man, Slott has finally found a way to write a fun Spidey-Ock. Please, Mr. Slott! Let Superior continue to be this awesome

Is Green Lantern #20 worth the $7.99 price tag? Yes. It is worth every bit of it. Geoff Johns leaves GL on a high note, sure to please fans, both old and new. Whether youve read his entire run or if this is your first Johns GL issue, there is much to enjoy. Thanks for the ride, Geoff. Youre such a Poozer.

While not perfect, this little look into Baxters life should satisfy fans. Erik Burnham has shown that he can write a respectable TMNT story that can sometimes make up for its lack of substance with a whole lot of charm. Thats probably the best way to describe this issue.

Its nice to explore a new world and see how these characters have been altered, but is it worth it when the entire central theme and plot has been forgotten and lost? Perhaps the last two issues will make all of this moot, but for now, its hard to see how Bendis is going to wrap this up. If anything, the next few weeks should be an interesting time for the Marvel Universe.

Mike Allred is absolutely incredible. Its painful to say anything negative about his artwork, but there are a few minor flaws in this issue. Some of the action panels are not put together well and Darla Deering and Medusa are less detailed to the point where they look almost sloppy. Its still a great artistic endeavor in most panels, though. As long as Mike Allred is drawing this series and Laura Allred is working on the colors, the art will always be almost-perfect to perfect.Thank you, Marvel. Thank you, Matt Fraction and Mike Allred. FF is so fantastic, it feels like some thanks are in order. Its been a long time since weve had such clever books on the stands. Lets enjoy it while we can.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #23 establishes a new tone for Miles. While he still isnt Spider-Man again, we all know at some point he will be and it will be a glorious return. In the meantime, Bendis can treat us to some very thought-provoking character development, like nobody else can.

With characters this likeable, its hard to fault Geoff Johns for any story problems that you may be able to find. Marvel seems to be kicking DCs butt lately, as far as quality, but titles like JLA gives the company hope. Too bad guys like Johns cant write every title.

Avenging Spider-Man still gives Superior a run for its money. Even when this series isn't at its best, Yost still manages to show a Spidey-Ock that is pleasing and likable. With Marco Checchetto putting this series on top with some stunning artwork, it can be hard to pick a favorite Spidey title.

Maybe there is a point to this issue. Bendis obviously has a plan, so maybe this will read better after we see the bigger picture. The problem is that after seven issues, we still haven't gotten anywhere. We're losing our reason to care about this series, so let's hope issue 8 can rectify this.

Superior Spider-Man #9 isn't the best. It has some problems but Slott should be commended for his bravery and willingness to mix it up a bit. He manages to pull some great character moments out of Peter which, at the end of the day, is all a Spidey fan really wants.

Fraction and Bagley are working on establishing Marvels First Family as one of the most interesting teams in the Marvel universe. The Avengers and X-Men are cool and hip at the moment, but dont pass on the Fantastic Four. This issue proves that they have just as much heart and intrigue as any other team Marvel has to offer.

Even though Mike Allred isnt providing the art, FF is still just as pretty. FF rivals Fractions Hawkeye series, and while most would say Hawkguy is clearly the better of the two, this reviewer is not so sure. Both are phenomenal, but FF has more of a charisma that sets it apart and character angles that are becoming increasingly impressive. Not that any of that nonsense matters. You should be buying anything with Fractions name on it.

Bendis has proven once again that he is the master of the Ultimate universe. Miles Morales is earning his hero stripes the hard way, which is the way it should be. All the pieces have been set for some wonderful stories going forward, so this already awesome series has nowhere to go but up.

Guardians of The Galaxy is so entertaining! Bendis is on a roll with this series. It also helps when you're working with artists as talented as McNiven and Pichellii. Every comic fan should read this series. You'll thank yourself for reading such a treat.

TMNT #21 is how this series should be done -character angles that are actually compelling, shocking twists and turns, and art that is nostalgic and epic in scope. Its a shame that every issue cant be drawn by Kevin Eastman, but as long as he (along with Waltz) can put out some decent scripts like this, fans can be entertained until the next time.

Cap has stormed Zolandia by himself in an attempt to rescue Ian and put down Arnim Zola once and for all. Much of this issue is framed to show Caps relentlessness. Remender also cleverly exposes Caps flaws through exposition and creative character dialogue, sometimes not even Caps. Dimension Z has peeled away Caps brave exterior and given the reader a closer look at his ideals. His ideals are what make him a great man but are they also his flaw? Do they make him weak? Sometimes his principles can even make him a jerk. Its these philosophical dilemmas that make Remenders run so darn intriguing.

Justice League #19 has the road to Trinity War firing on all cylinders. This is a thrilling issue that should have fans excited for whats to come. When Geoff Johns is good, hes on fire. Lets hope it keeps up.

Superior Spider-Man took a step back last issue, but issue 8 works to correct this. For the most part, the overall story achieves this, but the whole side-plot with The Avengers is too mindless to be ignored. Theres much to love about Superior, but Slotts story telling problems like to pop up from time to time.

Although this issue doesnt achieve any real astounding revelations for Krang, it still serves a purpose to keep TMNT fans happy. With Henderson rendering a silly-looking character so well, this is an issue worth picking up for any fan. At the end of the day, thats all that matters, right?

Batman #19 is another little break from Snyder and Cappullo's epic arcs. It's nothing that will blow you away, but there's still much to like here, especially the backup story. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and watch Batman solve a simple crime, even if it's a tad predictable.

Fantastic Four #6 is still moving the plot along, but not much. However, Fraction's characterization prevents from this ruining the experience. If immediate results are what you're looking for, this isn't the book for you. If you're willing to wait for results and get a more intimate side to these characters; it's worth the price.

Hal Jordan and Sinestro have been two of the most compelling characters in comics for years, thanks to Geoff Johns. He certainly plans to send them off in style, but will their lives be better or worse for the experience? Theres only one issue left. As painful as it is to see Geoff go, its sure to be comic book gold.

Superior Spider-Man takes a few steps backwards in issue 7. Dan Slott found a writing style that worked well with the story and tone but now he seems to be reverting back to the issues that have plagued his Spider-Man run in the past. Superior has been awesome; so lets hope this is only a minor hiccup.

Fantastic Four #5AU is about as good as major crossover tie-ins get. After reading so many awful or mediocre AVX and Death of the Family tie-ins, it was a breath of fresh air to read something this wonderful. Its also nice to see deaths in a superhero comic that dont feel redundant and lame. While these deaths are obviously not permanent, it still has an effect. Thats all a superhero fan can ask for.

FF is a must read every single month. It rivals Fractions own Hawkeye, and thats high praise. Whats not to like about this series? Its the complete package. Stupid, stupid kids, football helmets and cookies! Now thats a great comic!

Guardians of The Galaxy may be lacking depth, but Bendis makes up for it with fantastic characterization and a story that is so much fun. This issue also does a bit of foreshadowing, so it looks like many major Marvel Universe events will be coming through here. Any Marvel fan owes it to themselves to join the Guardians. If you dont, you can go krutack yourself.

Superior Spider-Man #6AU is far from perfect, but its certainly a competent tie-in, so fans of Age of Ultron and/or Superior Spider-Man will be fine with this. It will be nice to get back to our regularly scheduled Superior programming, though. This series has been one of Marvels shining gems. They seem to have a lot of those lately.

Another zany trip to Dimension Z in issue 5 makes for a truly brilliant read. This series is the bees knees, its very hard to wait a month between issues. Remender and Romita Jr. have something really special brewing, with Dimension Z being just the beginning. Seriously, how are they going to top this?

Superior Spider-Man #6 is an adequate outing for Spidey-Ock, but it feels like a bit of a letdown. This book has just been so good the last several issues, so the reader is expecting some top-notch stuff. Still, there is much to like in this comic and worthy of your time. Things will heat up for Spidey soon, so were happy to keep reading.

This issue is so below par with the previous issue in this arc, which is a shame, since its the big finale. Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz completely redeemed themselves with some solid writing, only to fall flat on their faces in this issue. Lets hope that they can get some of that magic back. This series can be so good when firing on all cylinders.

Since this mini-series has been so darn great, its sad to see it go out with a whimper, instead of a bang. I recommend The Secret History of The Foot Clan to anybody who will listen, but this issue is making me look bad. Maybe the previous issues overachieved and set the bar too high. Whatever the case, this one stings a bit.

Bendis and Pichelli give us another great issue. Not much goes on and were only told things that we already know, but these characters are so well thought out, that its hard to even complain about it. Like Peter Parker, Miles is at his best when hes miserable and his life is in ruins. Yep, hes still one of the best characters in comics. We just need some more Venom action!

Lack of artistic detail aside, this is still a great issue to a series that continues to be a must read. While Hickmans Fantastic Four run was epic in scope, Fraction is going for a more personal and character driven tone. Both styles are great and its fun to see how some of these characters tick, especially from a fresh perspective. Its something worth checking out.

Avenging Spider-Man has become a great companion to Superior Spidey, and in many ways, it far surpasses it. Chris Yost once again handles Doc Ock with great care and Marco Checchettos art is pretty darn cool. This title is highly recommended theres more to this story than silly team-ups and corny quips.

Geoff Johns keeps giving us reasons to mourn his departure. Although the art is a bit of a hiccup, this comic is still an enjoyable read. The trio of Simon, Hal and Sinestro is superhero comic gold. Thanks to Geoff Johns for making it so.

Superior Spider-Man keeps chugging along, with a continued cleverness and new questions to ponder. Its really impressive how improved Dan Slotts writing is across the board. If solicitations are anything to go by, the next four issues look very intriguing, so anybody not reading Superior Spidey needs to catch up quickly before this satisfying series passes you by.

Guardians of The Galaxy #0.1 is a great start to a series that is sure to turn a few heads in the world of comics. Bendis and McNiven deliver Hollywood-like entertainment and set the tone for where this series will be headed. The time is now to jump on board and take a galactic ride with the Guardians.

Justice League Dark #17 doesnt deliver the goods, but it definitely leaves fans hopeful for a stunning and satisfying end to the story. These characters are still well written and too interesting for this series to not get back on track. Lets not give Lemire and Fawkes too much guff this series is still one of the best DC titles.

Avenging Spider-Man is wonderful with Chris Yost at the helm. Hes more than proven that he can adequately write a superhero story that has the most insane of concepts. Its fun to see a different take on a Spidey-Ock that isnt so serious. At this point, all three Spidey titles (Superior, Avenging and Ultimate) are worth picking up every month.

FF cant be recommended highly enough. Its one of the best comics out there. Matt Fraction and Mike Allred have created a perfect superhero comic full of quirky nostalgia, humor and enchanting characters. FF needs to be read by everybody. Its comic book gold and deserves your attention.

It doesnt matter what your level of fandom is, if youre at least a tiny bit of a Turtle fan, this book is for you. This mini-series impresses with every issue, with no signs of it letting up. The time is now to jump on the bandwagon. You will not be disappointed.

Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis have given us a grand conclusion to the Throne of Atlantis storyline. It feels like a story thats going to have actual consequences. Johns has been working tirelessly to make Aquaman a true hero and leader and this story arc makes his case quite well. Throne of Atlantis cant be recommended enough.

Vibe comes off as a weak character. Its not his fault, though. Geoff Johns and Andrew Kreisberg just havent given us a reason to care about him yet. The naysayers are claiming that this is just a greedy cash-in and so far, they havent really been proven wrong. Lets see where this series goes next month maybe a point to this series will become clearer.

Captain America is some of Remenders best work and at this point, this should be on everybodys pull list. Remender is great at creating smart and creative stories for heroes who dont usually get that type of care. Its a treat for the brain to be able to see Captain America written so well.

Dan Slott should be commended. He is simply on fire right now. Any Spidey fan refusing to read Superior needs to get over it because they're missing out. This new status quo started out rough, but the past 3 issues of Superior are just too good to pass up. Well done, Mr. Slott.

IDWs TMNT is a book worth checking out. This series has become a must for your pull list. Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz and Ben Bates are on a real hot streak. Its going to be exciting to see how long they can keep up this momentum. Until then, TMNT fans can just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Despite the lack of plot development, Bloodshot #7 delivers an entertaining amount of action that is beautifully drawn. Valiant seems to have lost a little bit of steam after the Summer of Valiant, but there is still much to like about most of their books, Bloodshot included. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see their plans for this title.

Fantastic Four is still one of the best Marvel Now! titles. Matt Fraction turns in a painfully human Reed Richards in issue 4, somebody we should all look up to this Valentine's Day. Fraction just pumps out must read comics at this point. Some of Bagley's panels still have their problems, but when he gets it right, his art is simply stunning. You're not reading this series yet? Why? Go get it!

Superior Spider-Man continues to impress in issue 3. Im proud of the fact that I can admit when Im wrong. I shunned this whole concept at the beginning and saw no way that Slott could write an intriguing story out of this mess. I was wrong. Superior Spider-Man is one of the most fun comics out there and Im very happy that I decided to give this new direction a shot.

Although some other Spidey comics have been getting better, this is still the Spider-Man comic to get every month. Its a must buy. Bendis has never been better and Pichelli is really finding a nice style for Miles. There is a whole hoard of symbiotic enthusiasts out there, so I would imagine even more people will be jumping on board. You should as well.

Superior Spider-Man finally lives up to the hype in issue 2. Slott took this ridiculous concept and created a story that is charming and just plain fun. Its really a shock how much better the writing is, especially compared to the vast majority of Slotts work on Spidey. Stegman just needs to do what he does best and the art on this title will be fine. Spidey fans should be pleased with this one.

Talon has become something of a guilty pleasure for me. Its not the most sophisticated or inspired series, but it has some real charisma and spirit that make it worth reading. Maybe this title isnt for everybody, but Ive been thoroughly enjoying it. I would recommend that every DC Comics fan at least give this series a shot. Its still early in the game, so now is a great time to jump on board.

FF remains one of the best comics out there. Fraction and Allred are impossible to top. The story is so darn loveable and the art is truly something to behold. Even when things take a solemn turn, you still cant help but smile at the shear allure of it all. This absolutely needs to be on everybodys pull list especially since its a $2.99 book. Trust me thats a steal.

Being buried in Joker crossovers can get annoying after a while so its nice that Nightwing can make itself stand out from the pack. Kyle Higgins and Eddy Barrows both do an admirable job of making these past two issues so much more than just another dopey tie-in. Its going to be exciting to see Nightwing pick himself up and keep fighting after this pummeling.

TMNT #18 is a great comic book. Its well written, the art is wonderful and its chock full of Turtle action and nostalgia. Whats not to like? At this rate, this creative team might make this a must read title – its already a must read for TMNT fans. Wait; is there anybody whos not a TMNT fan?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: the History of the Foot Clan is one of the best comics being produced right now. Even if it didnt involve TMNT, it would still be incredible. This series seems to be getting even better, so its a shame that its only going to be 4 issues. Seriously, you need to be picking this up.

Bloodshot is violently beautiful and has a fascinating story that is worth following every month. Issue #7 isnt the book that it could be, but Valiant junkies definitely need this issue. Its setting things up for the future of the Valiant universe and Bloodshots role in it. Next months issue is going right back to the main plot, so the future is looking very bright.

Captain America is an incredibly fun ride. The Dimension Z story is creative and classic, while the flashbacks further enrich the characters. Its also getting easier to accept Romita Jr.s art, which seemed to drag the previous 2 issues down. Even if youre not the biggest Captain America fan, you will get hooked on this series.

Chris Yost continues to impress with his run on Avenging Spider-Man. While some annoying inner monologue may drag a part of the issue down a little, just having a Doc Ock/Spidey who is actually appealing is enough to put this on your pull list. Its ironic that Avenging Spider-Man has turned out to be the superior Spidey.

Fantastic Four #3 feels like a blast from the past. Its jolly nature is good for the soul, especially after reading a heap of dark and sinister tales of woe. Theres nothing wrong with a story like that, but Fantastic Four is a nice break from the gloom. Its about time that we get some happy superhero stories!

Superior Spider-Man isnt the best first issue, but it has some great action and a cliffhanger that will make you want to grab issue 2. If Doc Ock as Spidey can be as interesting as Chris Yost made him in Avenging Spider-Man, this could be a phenomenal title. Unfortunately, thats probably not going to happen unless a change in creative teams is made.

Sweet Tooth has been one of the best comic books on the racks. Its characters and themes have touched us in ways that we probably wont even realize until years from now. Issue 40 is a fantastic and emotional sendoff that we wont soon forget. Thank you, Jeff Lemire. Theres a little piece of Gus that will live with us forever.

The Secret History of The Foot Clan is a decent start to the mini-series. Santolouco and Burnham found a clever way to bring everything full circle, leaving you with a feeling of satisfaction, since the story has actual consequences. TMNT fans should be very happy and hopeful for this limited series. This Turtle fan sure is.

Talon is not shaking things up, nor is it reinventing the wheel. Its just a solid action comic with tons of intrigue and promise. This series is doing a fantastic job of setting itself apart from its Batman roots, while still keeping it connected to the Batman universe. Talon may not be Shakespeare or Hemingway, but its entertaining nonetheless.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man is the triumphant king of Spidey comics right now. Bendis has taken his time to flesh out everything in Miles world, and has done it in a way that is compelling and breathtaking. This series needs to be on everybodys pull list.

Rick Remender is boldly moving Captain America into some uncharted territory. While Romita Jr.s art could be better, this is a great Cap story that is worth reading.

FF #2 is an incredible comic book that finally takes this appealing story and runs with it. Matt Fraction has given these characters some real heart, while Michael Allred turns in some remarkable art that cant be beat. This is one of the best Marvel Now! issues to date.

Nightwing has been a captivating series since the beginning of the New 52 and with The Joker now at play, things are getting more intense. These Joker tie-ins have started to overstay their welcome a bit, but this one actually lives up to the hype. Nightwing #15 is the cream of the Batman crossover crop.

Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man is easily the best Spidey title on the shelves right now. Bendis has proven that he still has a deep passion for writing this series and Marquez draws Miles and Co. perfectly. With Venom returning next issue, I would highly suggest jumping on this series.

This issue achieves exactly what it sets out to do to get you excited for the new Morbius series. It seems like Marvel wants to cash in on the current vampire trend or perhaps catch up with DCs Dark books. Whatever the reason, this point one definitely shows off both a character and a writer with some real potential.

This issue is great, but it will also drive the reader crazy. After just blowing money on the first issues of Fantastic Four and FF, it should be assumed that you would receive a payoff in the form of entertaining story progression. This issue will hold your interest, but a story moving as slow as Fantastic Four #2 may make many people drop this title from their pull list.

Bloodshot is one of the best titles out there. For fans of action, its perfect. For fans who want a little more characterization, it has that as well. It also has some of the best art around. There is no reason to not be picking this book up every month. Just wait until you see the big reveal at the end its definitely worth the price.

The Amazing Spider-Man is about to come to a close and although Dan Slott has written some very disappointing stories in his long run, this issue gives a glimmer of hope that this classic book can go out with a bang. With Ramos stepping up his game, it all rests on Mr. Slott. Please dont let us down.

This may not be the perfect story, but this series is quickly making up for any faults that it may have. Matt Fraction is setting up some great things for characters that are perfect for him to write. The art alone is enough reason to buy this issue. There is some real promise here, so this is definitely a series worth taking a chance on.

Its getting harder and harder to care about this series. It doesnt have much going for it, which doesnt bode well for its eventual replacement, Superior Spider-Man (also written by Slott.) Even though the art is a vast improvement over recent issues, its not enough to recommend this series to anybody at this point.

Captain America #1 is a fabulous debut issue for Remender. His characterization and zany plot is something to keep an eye on as this series progresses. Romita Jr. can definitely turn in some great work, so even though this isnt his best, we should expect better outings in the future. This is going to be a magnificent series.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man is easily the best current ongoing Spidey title. Any Spider-Man fan should be getting this series every month. Bendis shows great love and care when writing these characters. Pepe Larraz fills in nicely and has shown great improvement from last time. Plus, youre never too old for a Finding Nemo reference, right?

The Amazing Spider-Man has been far from perfect. Spidey is arguably Marvels flagship character–or he was before The Avengers movie–and he doesnt deserve this treatment, especially when his book is about to end. Dan Slott and Marvel should be ashamed of themselves.

Fantastic Four #1 is an adventurous start to what seems to be a solid series. Matt Fraction has really made the FF multilayered in his depictions of them. Bagley doesnt present his best, but some far worse work has been done in the Marvel Now! initiative (Iron Man #1 comes to mind). This looks like it could turn into a must read, but it looks like you will have to read both books–Fantastic Four and FF–to get the whole story. This may turn off many readers.

The Phantom Stranger can be an odd series to place, but Dan Didio is working to give this book a purpose. Its a shame that the art isnt getting any better, though. Its hard to suggest this book to anybody other than hardcore DC fans.

Bloodshot #5 is an example of comic book excellence. The story is intriguing and the art is top notch. This series is a must buy every month.

Sweet Tooth has been excellent from the start. The ending in issue 39 is setting up what will sure to be a sad and devastating conclusion to this stunning series. Jeff Lemire is a genius. What else can I say?

IDW continues to do a great job of offering a fun version of these original TMNT stories. Its fun to revisit Eastman and Lairds classic works and its a wonderful way for people who have never read these stories before to finally do so.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #15 is a good issue that moves an excellent story along nicely. It would be almost perfect, but the dialogue and art really drag this series down. As a huge TMNT fan, its very hard to come to terms with these truths. There is a sliver of hope, though. However little, #15 is an upgrade in quality over the past several issues. Heres hoping that this trend continues.

This Annual should be a delight for a lot of TMNT fans. Kevin Eastman captures a timeless Turtles quality that never goes out of style for Shell Heads. The biggest problem for this book is the $8.99 price tag. This steep price is going to turn away many casual readers. Its a solid book, but because of the money that you will have to spend, its hard to recommend this book to anybody except hardcore Ninja Turtles fans.

Issue #19 of Captain America is phenomenal. Ed Brubaker ends his legendary run beautifully, leaving you feeling satisfied and depressed at the same time. Steve Epting is the perfect artist to end this run and Frank DArmatas colors are impeccable.Its very hard to say goodbye. This is by far one of the greatest runs on a superhero book of this generation. I will never forget the feeling of immense gratification after reading his first issue of Cap. Thank you, Ed Brubaker. Thank you so much for working so hard on a character we love so much. The adventures of Steve Rogers will not be the same without you.

Dan Slott and Christos Gage are setting up something big in this issue, but the story falls flat. The dialogue is done well, but the plot is a mess. The art isnt as good this time around either, but I believe that Camuncoli can turn it around. Despite all of the flaws, the set up to the final arc make this issue worth the price.

There are at least two good stories in the Ghostbusters: 100-Page Spooktackular and overall the art is not too shabby either. However, this book is not worth the $7.99 price tag. This comic can only be recommended to diehard Ghostbusters fans and/or completionists who really want those one-shot stories for their collections.

Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man has been wonderful lately and issue 15 continues this trend. The art isnt as good as it usually is but the story and action is good enough to overcome this and Bendis continues to make the story of Miles a very memorable one. Heres hoping that this keeps going for a very long time.

The story is extremely disappointing in this arc, but the art has been improved and is clearly the hero of this issue. Captain America and Ed Brubaker have seen better days together. Its probably for the best that its ending. Lets just hope that they go out with a bang instead of a whimper.

While the story and scripting is a little dated, the added colors to the art give a new shred of brilliance to artwork that was already quite wonderful. This may not be for everybody, but for any TMNT fan, this is a must own comic.

This series is fantastic. The story is intriguing and the art compliments the action well. I really love what Valiant is doing and Bloodshot #4 is a great example of their ability to put out the best books every month.

Although the overall story doesnt progress much, the characterization of Simon Baz makes this issue worth reading. Issue 13 has me excited for what is to come in this sure-to-be-epic story arc.

The art in this issue is a much needed improvement. Giuseppe Camuncoli does a great job of mimicking Huberto Ramos work in recent Amazing Spidey issue without looking as childish.

Although the plot of this series is well done, the dialogue can be inconsistent. In this issue, back and forth between Krang and Stockman is great, but when you get to the Turtles, it feels like an 8 year old wrote it.Im also not a fan of the artwork. Andy Kuhn can make certain characters look fine, but others just look awful. For example, the pencil work on the Turtles just comes off as juvenile. The coloring could also be better.

I would recommend this issue highly. Its everything that makes this story great. Bendis writes Miles and Co. wonderfully and really makes you care about the characters. There was a point where I felt that the story in this series was uneven. I almost removed it from my pull list! However, Bendis has really pulled me back in with some great characterization and more consistent story telling.
