With two more volumes to go, this first release is already a modern classic and strong contender for graphic novel of the year.

This is what Vertigo is all about, quality comics, with brilliant concepts from talented creators. Jeff Lemire has a hell of a track record, and this series continues his streak of amazing works of art.

Through this release alone, you have to wonder why this talent isn't given a series of her own. I love to check out her art, but this comic blows away much of what's been written in the last five years. Brilliant in it's simplicity and execution.

Kindt is one of today's master storytellers in the comic industry. It's not just the words he puts on the page or the story they populate, it's every small detail that's added, every item added to each page. It's an amazing package. When this graphic novel is released, it's an absolute must buy.

Both heartbreaking and uplifting, The Fifth Beatle not only reveals an important, unsung chapter in the history of the Beatlesbut it will inspire anyone whos ever dared to believe in a dream. Brian Epstein's story has been a long time coming, but this is so good, it's been well worth the wait. This will go down as a must read graphic novel for it's style and narrative, but also as a must read for Beatles history.

I expect anyone who checked out this first issue, and this is their first comic, were impressed. This team has put together a fresh character, fresh voice, fresh outlook. This is diversity in characters at its best. You might actually have an heir to the voice that was the beloved Young Avengers. Marvel has given us a character for a new diverse generation of comic readers and fans. Here's hoping they embrace Kamala, because this issue shows they should give her a chance.

The graphic novel is for those who like crime comics, real life stories or has a fascination with morbid things and/or serial killers. An absolute “buy” in my mind.

Strange Attractors is Soule's love letter to New York, and through this he shows us some of its magic.

The first issue blew me away and is a contender for best new series of 2013. I have no idea where the series will go from here, but this is a comic I want and want more of.

Overall, this is a great issue and fine example of why this series has the praise it does. It also is a perfect jumping on point for anyone to check out what the hype is about. As part of the first batch of comics for 2014, it's release points to a very good 2014. Here's hoping the rest of the year's comics are half as good, because we'll be in for a treat.

I really can't gush enough as to how much I enjoyed this issue. I love this first issue, it nails everything I'm looking for in this type of story, and very well might be my favorite first issue of the year.

The comic is another great example of Cloonan's talent and again makes you question why she hasn't been given a greater spotlight as a writer.

Rereading the comic, I found myself digging at small details, trying to discern what's up and trying to find clues as to the story. This is a mystery that sucks you in, a comic that I expect to transcend the comics medium.

This is a comic I can give to a non-comic reader and know they'll be coming back for more and asking me what else is like it. We not only have a hit, if sales are any indication, but we have a series I expect to see on many "best of 2014" lists come next year. Make sure to put this one on your pull list, because you don't want to miss out on the series everyone will be talking about. So far this series is one of my favorites of 2014 (though not a shock since it was up their with last year's digital releases) and this issue is my favorite issue of any comic so far in 2014. This is only the second issue, so get a copy before you're left behind what's shaping up to be a hell of a ride.

Overall, three issues in, and this series is easily making its case as to why it should be on many “best of” lists when 2015 arrives. Get to your store early, I expect this issue to sell out and believe me, The Bunker is only going to get more popular as people discover it's excellence.

Really this review should just be “go buy this book.” But the reality is, this series should be a part of everyone's pull list. It's that good. It's not too late to make it happen, before you need a time device to go fix that mistake.

For four issues into The Bunker, and I've wondered quite a few things, some of which begins to be answered here. And that's part of what makes The Bunker so engrossing, that slow reveal that forces us to piece things together. But, writer Joshua Hale Fialkov knows that if you give too little, it leaves readers frustrated, so with each issue he drops just enough of a nugget to satisfy us. And those reveals often challenge our perceptions or what we thought of something.

I went into this first issue with some series reservations and walked out with one of my favorite debut issues of the year and a series that's on my monthly “read” list.

This is an amazing comic series that should be on everyone's buy list. It was one of the best debuts of 2013 and I expect it to be a contender for one of the best series of 2014.

The end of the world is here and it's beyond entertaining. Afterlife With Archie should be a part of everyone's pull list.

Afterlife with Archie continues to impress, quickly vaulting to being one of my favorite comics on the market right now. It's the perfect balance of horror and humanity, and everyone should do themselves a favor and check it out.

Bemis impressed with his last series Polarity, but with this first issue, he's shown he's learned from his previous work and in one issue blows it away. Add on top fantastic art, and you have a comic that's an absolute must buy.

If you want to see how a democratic society can devolved into evil, here you go. This is the story before the empire, and it's fascinating so far.

And holy crap is it good. The way it introduces the characters and teases what might be clues, the comic is as good as any cop show on television and better than so many of them. This is a series, I'm looking forward to the next issue. A perfect comic to transition and get your friends into Law & Order and CSI to try out comics.

This was just a fun comic for me and anyone who either dug the movie this comic is based on, or that type of genre in general should absolutely pick this up.

There's still time to pre-order this comic and trust me, when it's released, you'll be happy you did. Titan Comics has been announcing a slew of projects lately. If they're all of this quality, you're looking at a strong contender for publisher of the year.

Overall, Furious has busted out matching it's name. The comic is rage, action, fun, and entertaining. If you're a superhero fan, or a fan of visually eye-catching art, do yourself a favor and grab the first issue. You won't be disappointed.

Overall, this was one of the series that I was looking forward to as part of Valiant Next and it delivers. Its perfect for long time fans as well as those who are new and just want to check out a quality comics.

Like the first volume, the first issue of the second volume is amazing. It's rare you can find a comic book that is enjoyable for both parents and kids. The comics are smart and make you feel good and want to share them with others. This shows what comics can be and represent the best of the entertainment medium.

Starlight blew me away. It's a fantastic first issue and a toned down Millar that delivers some fun action along with a heartfelt touch.

This final issue is fantastic and how it ended, I could tell was a fitting end. Now I need to do myself a favor and go back to see what I missed.

But, again, the humor here is a draw. There's few comics I've read in the last year where I've laughed this hard. This is truly a case of don't judge a book by it's cover. Do yourself a favor and buy this one this week.

The comic mixes real world events with an interesting mystery possibly stemming from those events. Entertainment often is at it's best when it's a reflection of the real world and commentary on it, looks like this series is going that route and can't wait to see where it goes.

Overall, this debut is solid, and might be the first Warren Ellis comic I'm excited to read. In one issue he's set up a mystery that's creepy and wondrous, the best of science fiction.

I figured we were just going to get Cyclops running around the world building his army, with some speeches every so often. Instead we have a hell of a political thriller, knee deep in philosophy about revolution and race relations. This is the original Uncanny X-Men on steroids.

Sexy and provocative, with a dark twist on the spy genre, this EXTRA-LENGTH first issue by two of the industrys best-selling creators will knock you out! I expect this one to be a sell-out and Image's next big hit.

The worst part is, we have to wait until July to get the full graphic novel. This is that fun and entertaining, I want to read it now! I might not know much about Cyborg 009, but this has me wanting to check out the classics that I've missed.

For those who missed the series when it first came out, now's your chance to grab it in print. I guarantee when you're done, you'll be downloading all the issues available digitally so that you can “catch up.” It's that good. That fun. That entertaining.

I'm expecting some huge things when this series debuts. Expect a sell out of the first issue, so do yourself a favor, and make sure this debut issue is in your pullbox.

This is the opening salvo of the next chapter of Hickman and Dragotta's epic, a perfect point to check out what you've been missing out on.

Stories are often best when they reflect the modern world we live in. They're great when they get us to think about that world. Hacktivist looks like it's going in that direction, an old world form of communication commenting on a new world form of communication.

The focus is on the comic itself. The storytelling and plotting is excellent and the art by Leinil Yu is fantastic. This is the gem of the Marvel NOW! launch right now. I've never been much of a Hulk fan, but Waid has get me looking forward to the second issue. Looks like this is further proof he's one of the best writers out there right now.

Love and Capes is on my must read pile and now I'm off to get the earlier volumes to get caught up.

This first issue blew me away. It's so good, words can't do it justice. If you're a fan of cop shows or noir, this is an absolute must buy.

If you're a fan of police drama or crooked/rogue cop movies, this comic is a must have. It's also a perfect comic to hand to people who are new to the entertainment medium.

Space Riders #1 is a hell of a start with an entertaining story enhanced with unique and just plain beautiful art. Another solid release from Black Mask Studios in what's proving to be a fantastic year for them.

Add in small details at the end of the comic that reveal what's happened, this series is quickly becoming one of my favorite comics of the year.

Add in an ending that shocked me and had me blurt out wtf while reading, and I was blown away by this issue. I can't wait to see what happens next. This is one of the few series I devour as soon as I get my hands on it. Easily the best comic series on the shelves today.

The issue just shows how amazing of a series this is, one I can't recommend enough. It is the best comic on the market, hands down.

Wood continues to put together one of the best monthly series on the market. One that entertains and makes you think at the same time.

The ending of this issue is a little muddled and confusing, but everything leading up to it was absolutely amazing and intense. This continues to be one of the best comics out there by any publisher.

As you can tell, I liked this for the gross factor. A nice horror comic that could actually be all too real, which makes it all the much better.

The fact that I struggled to make it through, like a good horror tale, shows that it's a solid comic and the fact it's done that two issues in a row makes it great. This is easily one of Action Lab: Danger Zone's best comics and one of the best horror comics on the market right now.

Matt Hawkins' series has been a magic trick for smart people focusing on one of those smart folks snatched up by the military to build new weapons. The writing and story just has snark about it and entertainment value that keeps me giggling.

Writer Matt Hawkins has a great chance to really put forth an excellent discussion about war, weapons, technology, invention, ethics and more. Here's hoping he goes where I think he does and discusses it all, while still giving us an entertaining read, just like he has with this issue.

Seeing the issue is such a huge number (700!) we get all kinds of extras including some entertaining extra strips and a look back at all of the covers. All of them are great and the extra material makes the cover price worth it. A solid package overall.

If you've enjoyed what's come before in the series, this is a buy. For those who enjoy vampire comics, this is a good spot to check out and see if it's for you. I've been in withdrawal and this is the hit I've needed.

Overall, Archer & Armstrong is one of the most consistent comics on the market, delivering action and humor wrapped up in a nice package of commentary. This one-shot adds to the zaniness and gives us what will turn out to be fun villains for down the road.

Black Market is loaded with potential, and after one issue I'm more than intrigued as to where it goes. For me, the first issue entertained, and got me to think, not just about the issue, but the superhero genre as a whole.

Overall, Buzzkill to me came out of nowhere. I didn't know what to expect going into the series and have come out of it loving both issues so far.

Just an amazing mix of action with a focus on character development.

We're early into 2014 and hopefully Curse is a sign of what we can expect from comics this year. It's a great debut and a series everyone should check out.

Much after I've read it, the comic still haunts me as I try to work through the beautiful imagery mixed with an eerie vibe. Much like the other two releases, this is an absolute buy.

Overall, I liked the issue when I read it four years ago, and I still like it. While the price has increased a bit as a single issue, it's still well worth picking up and checking out some new talent.

The art by Pasquale Qualano is amazing, capturing the feel of the comic perfectly. I'd imagine many of you are overlooking the series and boy are you missing out on one of the most entertaining comics on the shelves right now.

This isn't the Sif I've come to like and definitely not the Journey Into Mystery I've enjoyed.

Solid writing is backed up by David Finch's art which is top not. It's just one issue in, but Justice League of America quickly jumps up as to one of the better launches of the new DC 52.

The first issue sets up a mystery and an adventure and much like the first it's a lot of fun.

While I consider myself still new to Conan, between this and Dark Horse's ongoing series, I'm quickly becoming a fan. So much so, I'm deciding where to start when it comes to finding out what I've been missing.

You've got a few months until you can get ahold of the first issue, but myself, I'm already drooling as I wait to read the second.

If you're a sci-fi fan, buy this book. If you're a fan of politics, buy this book. If you like great concepts and original comics, buy this book. Pretty much, you should buy this book.

If you're a fan of sci-fi stories, mysteries, or just good writing, do yourself a favor and check the series out. You're not too late to catch up and you'll absolutely be treating yourself.

Manifest Destiny is a comic I've been looking forward to since its been announced, and the first issue is a solid start to the series.

Nutmeg is exactly what we need more of in the comic industry, and hopefully this series becomes the hit it deserves to be. One of the most fun comics released this week.

But, even through that, there's a great action filled fantasy story. It's a ride getting you right into what's going on. The comic is fresh and open enough for those who might not be familiar with the universe it's based on. If you're a fan of fantasy or roleplaying games, this is a comic you should give a chance.

The Punisher is back, and in this issue better than ever. I went into The Punisher #1 with high hopes, and these two nailed the first issue, just like I thought they would. Here's to getting the “dream” creative team I was expecting.

Add in Fiona Staples art, which is always beautiful and a treat to look at. It's easy to understand why this series has been a favorite among comic fans and critics.

Here writer Matt Fraction goes the crime story route, something I don't think I've seen him do. And, not knowing what to expect this totally caught me off guard. The first issue is all set-up and you leave the end wanting to go back and see who the suspects are and try to figure out the motivation. This is a hard-boiled detective/whodunnit that exudes fun.

Caseloads and kicking bad guy butt is a complicated business and Soule seems to have that down, mixing in humor on top of it all. You can make all the lawyer jokes you'd like, but it's hard to not like this jade champion of justice. I highly recommend it.

The creative team was a tip off this was probably going to be good, but holy crap is it great. Make sure to grab a copy before your store sells out, because it will.

Star Wars: Rebel Heist #1 throws you into familiar territory with characters you know, and a world you know. The perspective though is new, and voice interesting. Mixing action and humor, I found myself getting to the end with a smile on my face, having wrapped up the first issue of an entertaining adventure. One that got me to laugh, and took me for a ride. Even if you're not a Star Wars fan, this first issue is a fantastic start and a great read. I figured Kindt would deliver something special, and it looks like he has.

This comic is amazing and while all of it might not be perfect for new readers, if it doesn't get people interested in previous issues, I'd be shocked. Pure awesome and one of my favorite comics this week.

The Valiant hits in December, and this is a four issue limited series that's perfect for folks who might want to see the style of comic that Valiant has to offer. Here's looking forward to see where it goes and what Valiant has in store next!

The Wake #1 is a promising start from some of comicdom's hottest creators. Can't wait to see where this one goes.

This is shaping up to be one of the most interesting limited series of the year.

The comic is a successor to classics such as Sin City, 100 Bullets, and Criminal. This is a prime example of a slick, cool, entertaining story matching its interior art, much like those mentioned series. A combination that creates a comic that's a visual treat to look at and read. If you're a fan of action, thrillers, or crime/noir stories, this should absolutely be on your buy list.

This is an all ages entry, especially perfect for tweenage girls, looking for something with characters they can relate to, but also looking for something a bit more adult at the same time. This One Summer, is the perfect read during the upcoming summer days.

The biggest payoff is those last few pages. The flash forward is amazing and may my jaw drop. The build up is slow in this issue, and boy does it pay off at the end.

Between the story and the art, Skullkickers is a series that captures the fun of the types of fantasy stories that are told with a twenty sided die at so many dinner tables every week. It's a D&D campaign that's gone completely off the rails. It's been too long of a break for the series. I'm psyched it's back and you should read this to find out why you should be psyched too!

If you're a long time Valiant fan you'll be excited for this, and if you've wondered what you've been missing, this is a perfect issue to start with.

The first issue introduces us into the varied characters, the cool world and some of the story. Wild Blue Yonder had buzz going in to its release and it lives up to every bit of it. Can't wait for the second issue.

Also, with the death of Professor X, where does Legion stand and what happens if he loses it again? All that I'm sure will be addressed, but we're finally seeing a character made WAY too powerful being brought down to relate-able levels and interesting, a difficult task and so far as good.

You want to know how good Marvel NOW! should be? This is the book you can judge all others by. The best debut so far of the bunch.

This issue is meant as a starting point, even though there's a number 24 on the cover and Hickman pulls that off quite well with a fun, action packed issue that'll give those interested a good taste as to what they can expect going forward.

The comic lives up to it's name and blew me away. This one might be a sleeper, but do yourself a favor and go grab a copy!

Ballistic is one of the freshest debuts of 2013 with a retro-style to it that harkens back to the great British comics of the 80s.

While the title of ‘Revenge' doesn't quite fit the issue, it's a worthy chapter of one of the best story arcs of the series.

It's been a while since this story arc got rolling and things look like a conclusion is around the corner. Expect sparks to fly and I'm not sure everyone is making it out alive. The Walking Dead is 109 issues long at this point and as good as its ever been.

Overall, this is easily the best issue in a long time, but also one of the best the series has ever released.

Overall, the series has wandered a bit all over in quality, but it's picked up steam again, showing off the excellence I expect. For fans of the series, you won't be disappointed, this is a hell of an interesting issue when it comes to character development.

As I finish each issue I want to read more, that's a good thing right?

Titan Comics is making a case with each issue that A1 could be “the” anthology comic of the year. It's that damn good.

With art by Greg Capullo, it's not just the story that's the draw. The art is stunning as expected with small details and scenes that just make you linger on the page. It's an amazing pairing for the finale of what might be one of Batman's best battles yet with the Joker.

It's a decent issue, but not the strongest, especially from writer Scott Snyder. I think in this case, what he has shown in the past works against him setting a high bar. Still a decent read and with the Harper Row stuff, possibly a pivotal issue.

Overall, this is a solid start in the story of how Bruce Wayne became Batman, but also how he became the Bruce Wayne we know.

I went in to the comic fully expecting what it turned out to be. It knows what type of comic it is and wants to be and delivers it in beautiful pages and art. Chronos Commandos could wind up being one of the most fun pulp comics of the summer.

The comic is just a lot of fun, it feels like a pulp movie. Rarely does a comic deliver exactly what you expect and does so with as much fun. We're two issues in and I still think this is one of the most fun comics of the summer.

Mara was one of the few comics released this last week of the year and it might of been one of the last comics released, but it's also a fantastic read and a standout for the stellar year that was 2012.

The series is deep and so layered, a brilliant take on modern media and icons in a futuristic setting. The story, art, everything is fantastic. Sadly, it's a limited series right now, but hopefully we'll luck out and get more once these initial six issues are up.

One of the most interesting comics on the market, it shows comics can be more than just spandex, even when it's about a person with super powers.

This is a perfect example of the marriage of comics and politics. An awesome comic that I can't wait to see more of.

Despite some pretty heavy hitter names, Matt Miner's contribution about his experience with Occupy Sandy during Hurricane Sandy is especially emotional. It really opens up your eyes as to what occurred during that storm and clean up after and the travesty that was relief efforts by the government.

No matter your take on the Occupy movement as a whole, this issue, and the two that proceeded it, is a nice look at a political movement that fizzled quickly and whose long lasting contributions will be debated for some time to come. To get first hand accounts, and opinions, about what it all meant and why it happened is important in in the historical sense but also the educational. This series acted as a voice for creators to reflect and be free with what they say without corporate interference, much like the movement itself. It's voice is one we need and one I hope we see more of down the road.

I'm not sure this will replace Gotham Central, but with the first issue, it seems like it might be a worthy successor.

I'm looking for Southland with a superpower spin, and this might just pull that off if the first two issues are any indication.

Overall, this is a series for those who really dig fantasy series. I'll stick with it and check out the second issue, but this first one didn't quite do it for me.

Issue #4 is a great read. If you haven't picked up this book yet I suggest you get the back issues or wait for the trade. If you enjoy stories like Game of Thrones or magic or scary creatures lurking in the shadows then this book has elements from all of them. This issue is denitely coming close to the end of its rst arc so the action is thickening and we are learning more with each page turn (I just hope we nd out the fate of Dalone before then). The art is matches the style Johnston's writing perfectly. It's gritty when needed and smooth and fast when Rascal is on the run. I really love when comics make it so I can't wait for the next issue and this title delivers with magic and more. Denitely worth your time.

Overall, the Rotworld story was pretty satisfying, though the ending seemed a bit rushed. The problem I see it is that with this conclusion, we get a reset in a way of both series. The next issue will be a perfect jumping on point for new readers. We'll see though, if these last 6 months has really paid off, for those of us there from the beginning.

Like Swamp Thing, Animal Man continues to be one of the top DC comics right now, and might be one of the best super hero comics of any company. This is a perfect starting point for new readers, and I highly recommend folks check it out.

There's part Indiana Jones here, part comedy, it's a great mix all together. How the villians, the 1%, haven't cause more of an uproar is beyond me. Easily the best of Valiant and one of the most entertaining comics on the market.

If you're looking to check out any of the Valiant rebooted titles, this is the one to check out.

Add in the amazing art from Stjepan Sejic. The art is fantastic, Sejic's always is. If you want to see how to shake up a universe and not piss on your fans, Top Cow has pulled it off. Publishers should take note when considering doing the same. Hopefully they can luck out and get a masterful writer like Ron Marz.

It might be the one issue that has the least amount of words, but it does the best job of getting through the emotion that missed in many others.

For me, this is a hell of a start that has me interested in a property I've never really had an interest in. When I go into a series like this I expect a galactic adventure, and in this case Captain Victory and his crew of rangers delivers.

Emilio Lopez's art especially needs to be mentioned. It's awesome with a cool look that I can only describe as an animated look. It's just beautiful to look at and adds so much to the first issue.

You get a lot here for your dollar, including the start of two interesting stories. Add those together with interviews, tips and more, and it's easy to recommend this issue and the series as a whole.

This should be a fun series and it'll be great to see what Jenkins comes up with in each issue. BOOM! has been pumping out a lot of original work this year and this release is a great way to cap off a fantastic year for them.

It's been a day since I read this issue, and I'm still thinking about the comic. Solid work that I wish we would see more of.

Edison Rex is a perfect example of a comic that both celebrates and sends-up the superhero genre and the genre's long history.

Overall, the series has a great concept, some cool art, and a hell of a start for a first issue. For folks interesting in science fiction, or action films, it's well worth picking up and checking out the first issue.

Overall, the project is great. Jenkins' writing, Ramos' art, it's a perfect package and a great buy. And, if the second volume is brought to Kickstarter, be one of the cool kids and hop on board to back the project.

Overall, the series isn't their stronger work, something has been off compared to Criminal, their brilliant noir series. But, for those that love horror and noir, there's not a better combo of the two on the market.

There's so much that's solid about the comic, the writing the art, the fact you can pick up the single issue fresh and still enjoy it. I'm looking forward to all of the standalone issues and here's hoping we can get some shorter stories after.

Is this the best arc to start with someone who is new to the series or character? That I'm not too sure. Is this a comic you can pick up without reading the previous ones? That's a no as well. But, for those of us who have been reading this volume, it's a solid addition and I suggest folks take a chance and see what they've been missing.

Find is an all-ages adventure about the power of curiosity and inspiration, and how comic books really are universal. This is a first issue and it does its job and makes me want to see more. In a year that has already seen over a dozen new series hit the shelves, this stands out as my favorite debut of 2015 so far.

Overall, the series is one I went into not expect much, and came out blown away. It's fun, entertaining and action packed, just like how I like my pulp adventures.

The series picks up with the story, allowing us to see what happens after Ming is defeated. While the first arc was bit rushed, it'll be interesting to see how long this plays out. The war has been won, and now it's time to rebuild. In our modern times, it's an interesting reflection of the real world. We'll see how far it's taken. It could be great, it could be crash and burn, but this first step is solid.

Cobra is more of a terrorist organization waging battles not just on the field, but also online. The Joes are dealing with budget cuts and bureaucracy. This isn't what I read when I was a kid, but holy cow is it good.

I found myself pouring through the graphic novel, reading it in one sitting. The story is original. The story is funny. The story is entertaining. For something different, this is a definite buy.

When your child that's too young demands to start reading your Hellboy comics, put this in front of them instead, they'll probably leave you alone at that point and choose this instead.

The Lone Ranger is a western comic perfect for any fan of the genre and this story arc when it's over is a must read even if you're not.

So many series have teased about heroes pulling one over on the world to bring it together, but this series really explores that and sees what happens. There's a great old school feel about it all and the art is amazing. I can't wait to see where this series goes and it's focus on a protagonist conflicted about his actions.

This original comic series reveals an epic, ageless race for Immortality, Power, and Purpose. I went in not knowing what the expect, and honestly having some trepidation as well. I came away wanting more right away. The series' first issue sets up an amazing world, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here.

After reading this one issue, it's not a surprise this series landed on so many “best of” lists. I absolutely recommend it if you're able to get all of the issues and especially if you've followed it up until now. I myself am definitely picking up what I missed, either as individual issues or as the eventual trade paperback.

In the first issue, the focus is the smaller community, and the individual, and by the end we're reminded that those smaller communities provide incredible insight, but also the greatest change. The smallest voice can have the biggest impact, and that enough of those small voices together can help shape the world for the better. In just the first issue, Wood reminds us of that, and at the same time questions how far we've truly come as a nation.

Judging by this first issue, mystery fans will not want to miss this tale of corruption through the eyes of an outsider.

The first issue left me a bit frustrated as I wanted to read more, but that just wasn't the case. It's good the comic had me this way, I want to read the second issue, like now. This is one of those series that plays mystery well and could be one of the best adult series of 2013, so far it's one of the more interesting psychological studies of the super hero.

The series is just two issues in. It is good and worth a read if you're into this type of comic series. Its just not quite showing the intelligence I'd hope. Instead we get the shock, but the real substance underneath isn't deep enough… yet.

The issue has great pacing and quickly leads back into and follows up from the events of the first issue. Dale has put together a fantasy series that's fun and easy to get into for long time fantasy fans and new readers. It's also fun for old and young alike. A solid series that I hope finds the following it deserves.

Sons of Anarchy does exactly as promised and delivers gun-smuggling outlaw bikers with complex pasts and gripping personalities. If you love guys with guns like we do, this is that genre at its most elevated. And a series, and setting, you just can't find anywhere else in comics.

Southern Dog sets up a lot, with a very touchy subject. It'll be interesting to see the growth in this series, especially compared to the series above. Again, it's an absolute recommended buy and well worth checking out.

Overall, just in this first issue Soule has made me understand the relationship between these characters much better and given us a hint as to what they might see in each other, and offer each other. In the first issue he's given us some solid action mixed with humanizing interaction. Soule is adding depth to characters that can both use some in their other series. These are depictions of these characters I can enjoy and he's got me hooked to see what's in store next.

Overall, the debut comic is fun and exciting. Though not perfect, it's a great introduction and debut that has me interested in coming back for the second issue to see what else they have. There's a lot here that celebrates the old and the new when it comes to the Last Son of Krypton, and that's exactly what he deserves celebrating 75 years.

Overall, Superman Unchained to me is the best solo Superman series DC has and is the tone I had hoped we'd have seen when the DC New-52 launched some time ago.

Hobos, ass-map, Archer, Armstrong, Quantum, Woody, the fist issue is awesome. If you've never read either of these teams' series, are already a fan, or just looking for a good laugh, then look no further, this has it all.

I'm convinced we'll see some amazing things on Waid's run. He's already setting up a character, but most importantly a world, that'll keep us entertained and engaged. Mark Waid is a master of the pulp genre, but overall he's a master storyteller.

I love to read a fun, entertaining comic whose goal is to tell a self-contained story, and to be able to do that, while also tying into the greater narrative is impressive. For those who want a fun pulp adventure, this is a must read, for fans of Morrison's work, you won't be disappointed either.

With ComixTribe now having distribution threw Diamond, here's hoping we get to move forward with not just this, but it's other series' as well so we can see the growth I'm expecting and excellent story that's already begun continue.

The series is a fantastic horror series, a genre that I tend to be a bit harder on. But, this is a great first issue of a four issue limited series that I expect to be fantastic. Well worth checking out this first issue from this indie publisher.

This is a series that will blow up when/if it eventually hits television and has a smooth feel to it that makes you cheer on Redmond hoping he gets away with his latest game/heist. With a past that's slowly being revealed, there's more than enough to keep me coming back for more and more. Easily one of my favorite comics on the market.

If you enjoy the weird and creepy, this comic is an absolute buy.

With Pak, you never know what you might get, other than an excellent read. I went into the comic not sure which version of Turok we'd see, but it's clear from the start, this is Pak's version for a whole new generation to enjoy courtesy of Dynamite.

The “X” line of comics is usually overflowing with options, and many don't have enough of a unique voice to make their existence warranted. In one issue Wood takes care of that issue, giving us a fresh “X” book that will stand out from a crowded family of comics.

There's not many comic publishers doing super hero comics really well outside the big two, but Invincible is up there with some of the best of all the publishers.

Overall, the 100th issue is a fun read and more than enough to get your jaw to drop. As usual Invincible is up there with some of the best super hero comics on the market today.

This being Trakhanov's mainstream debut as well as Orlando's first full length publication, it's an even more impressive debut. I'm expecting another sell-out from Image and a series that'll have a lot of folks buzzing about and launch point for both of these creators. This was a first issue I finished and it immediately got me excited and wanting to read the next issue to find out more about this world and what these two creators have in store for us.

Two issues in and I can't wait to see where this all goes. Undertow is a fascinating series that's almost a political western. I can't wait to see where it all goes, not just in the next issue, but also the rest of the series.

One issue in and the comic is a fun and entertaining time. I'm looking forward to see where this goes from here and if similar crazy twist and turns and be pulled off in the second volume.

A story that's clearly geared towards kids, I found wrapping up the issue being amazed at Langridge's usual fantastic storytelling ability. The worst part, we only have three more issues to look forward to.

I'm new to the whole Adventure Time thing and I realize I'm not necessarily the intended audience. With that in mind, I enjoyed the comic. The art was solid, the story had me smiling and laughing a few times, and when it was over, I wanted to see what else there was to the whole Adventure Time thing.

The five part series has just started and the first issue is a hell of a fun set up so far. We'll see what type of magic the next four issues hold, but this is a great start.

There's also some great breaks of art with different artists throwing in a short strip or pin-up that adds to the overall feel of the comic. It's a great package, well thought out from story to production.

This feels like the beginning of a wonderful series of graphic novels. Hopefully we see more of Aurora and her magical world.

With all that, the read is beyond enjoyable, featuring many individuals, that like Andre, are larger than life. The illustrated style is simple, and fantastic to look at, making it clear how much of a giant Andre really was. For fans of wrestling, those with nostalgia of the 80s, people who want to learn more about the individual, or those that just want to read a tragic story, Andre the Giant: Life and Legend is a fantastic read, one that I was excited to check out ever since it was announced. It's absolutely a fantastic graphic novel to pick up, for an interesting biography to read during these summer months.

The first issue is good. It does a lot of build up, following the general formula of Predator films. It's fun, not too serious, and well worth the read. I found myself chuckling at different points, but I'm really looking forward to future issues (especially when the Predator REALLY gets going). The first issue will probably be slow for some, but by doing so it keeps up a tradition.

As a whole, Im glad I finally dove into the series. If youve been awaiting Astro Citys return, now is the time to check out the series that explores the human side of the superhuman. A great jumping on point.

Overall, reading this just made me wish this was how the main series was paced and how it was presented. In the page we got a lot of humanity, lots of connection, empathy, loss, and action. Something the main series misses with its excessive talking the leads to nothing.

Overall, with the conclusion of this issue, my question is, “what's next?”. It leaves a cliffhanger and opening that I want to see explored more. The issue answers a bunch of questions, but at the same time, it leaves us with a lot of them too.

The comic is a must for fans of the television show, and if you've only heard about it and want to check what it's all about, this isn't a bad place to start.

Bravest Warriors, I might have had my doubts, but so glad I checked it out. A great series that keeps me entertained month after month with each issue.

We not only get the end of this story arc, but a back-up story that's just as out there and shows how the series blends humor for both adults and kids as it can be taken and enjoyed in numerous ways.

Pop entertainment is strongest when it entertains as well as makes you think, and it looks like City: The Mind in the Machine will succeed in doing exactly that.

Cobble Hill sets up an interesting mystery I want to find out more about in a realistic setting that I can relate to. For fans of young adult books or Locke & Key, or those who want solid writing and art, do yourself a favor and check out Cobble Hill #1.

The world itself opens itself up to so many possibilities as to what's to come. The series has a lot of potential with a pretty unique concept and a set-up that's entertaining.

I went into Critical Hit expecting a similar story to the first two volumes of Miner's tale. Three issues in, not only has the story changed, it's fleshed out the characters, and world, and made the Liberator universe all the more stronger for it. Those first two volumes where fresh in the comic industry, and this latest story shakes things up even more for the better.

I've been reading Fantastic Four for years, in it's ups and downs, and so far in this one issue, it's looking up for this latest iteration.

Overall, it's a good issue, but just not quite the excellence that lives up to the word “fantastic”.

Is the comic perfect? Nope, there's absolutely some flaws, but after quite a while of my being pretty down on events, DC seems to be giving us one that is a little bit of old, a little bit of new, and a lot of fun.

This the type of comic I'm drawn to, so it's not shocking at all as to how much I enjoyed it and that I'd recommend it for others. There's some cool characters, an exciting plot, and a concept that leads to tension and some interesting possibilities. Take in the fact that a major city goes bye-bye early on, you don't know how far the comic will go, adding in to the excitement. Overall, a solid read that I want more of.

This second issue isn't what I was expecting, but it's a cool direction and now I can't wait for what comes next.

Don't get me wrong at all, the comic is entertaining, but it's definitely not what I expected and for that I'm still adjusting. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

Mysteries abound in an all new direction. There's not many answers, but while this usually frustrates me, here it works as there's so much action thrown at you, it feels like a thriller with the hero on the lamb. The changes or quick and swift, ripping the band aid off. I was a lapsed reader of Green Arrow but the new team has got me interested in seeing what the next issue holds.

It's rare thing to see a turnaround of a series like this, so much so it makes me want to go back and make sure I wasn't missing something that first go around. This is a popcorn movie in comic form.

Cook captures the unsettling vibe of it all. It helped keep me on edge and added to the ambiance of the story. Cook also knows how to do disturbing without crossing the line.

The only downside I think is there's not enough of the television aspect of it, instead focusing on the bigger mystery and that mystery isn't totally explained through at all points. Which is fine, in that more and more will be revealed as the series progresses. So far, beyond entertaining and a definite buy.

New publisher, same fun series, check out Hoax Hunters, it's going to be another fun ride.

The issue I have is Greg Land's art, which I've had more and more issues with. Land has a habit of making his characters look the same, especially when it comes to women. This issue is no exception. The art isn't enough to turn me off, and Land I'm sure will be ok in the long run, but it's a slight issue that to me stands out.

The first issue is a solid continuation of a series that shows off Millar's talent to do more that low-brow action. The first issue touches upon a lot of interesting issues, and sheds a light on the early years of a universe we know too little about. The first issue is a solid read, and as a fan of Legacy, I was excited to read. But, this is a series where the whole will be judged, and with that we have a long way to go.

In the end, the issue is a fun one. The artwork is solid and it's a nice wrap-up and lead in to what's happening next. Trinity War as a whole was a fun for me, bringing together the bulk of the major DC heroes and letting their personalities run wild. There was a enough twists that it kept me on my toes and wasn't what I was expecting. Overall I had fun reading this and that's what comics are about.

This is the beginning of a big initiative for Aspen and a hell of a start. Here's hoping the rest of the comics are of this quality, because it'll be a great year in comics. The fact that all of the first releases are $1 is just icing on the cake. There's no excuse to not get each of these first issues and try something new.

The first issue has a wild west vibe in a post apocalyptic United States. Lola's journey is just beginning, and I'm ready to see where it goes.

McCann and Lee is a pairing that's one of the best in the business and you should do yourself a favor and find out out why.

Overall, it's nice to see the series get right back to what it was delivering with a strong story and amazing art too.

I went into the issue with not much as far as hopes and have come out of it intrigued as to what's to come. Hopefully what we'll see won't be wedged into “X” continuity and like this first issue a natural flow of events as if this was always Wolverine's known history, one we just weren't familiar with.

Pantalones, TX: Don't Chicken Out could be one of the most original books of 2013, it's definitely up there as one of the more entertaining so far. This is a great read, perfectly entertaining for both kids and adults alike.

Comics are supposed to be fun, and first issues are supposed to give you enough info so you feel like you know what's going on, but also holds back so you come back for more. This issue does that, and does it well. Strap on your own rocket, for what seems like a fun ride.

Overall, a pretty solid start. It didn't knock it out of the park like I expected, but you better believe I'm lined up to check out the second issue.

It's pretty clear where this is all going and what the likely end result will be. That was clear in Amazing Spider-Man #700, but with Slott writing it'll be entertaining no matter how foreshadowed it is.

As far as tie-ins, this one answers a big question and gives us a unique enough voice and perspective that it makes it worth it.

Comics are supposed to entertain and elicit and emotion. We can feel joy, sorrow, laugh or in this case for man, anger. The fact Slott is doing a mix of that for so many shows how solid of a writer he is and what an excellent run it is for the character. He's doing his job, and doing it really damn well.

The series is unique in it's twist, perspective and execution that'll appeal to a broad swatch of comic fans. Do yourself a favor and pick up not just this first issue, but the trade of the mini-series that's come before.

The series might star characters that'd fit in any super hero comic, it's more soap opera than anything else and it's beyond entertaining. If you're a fan of super hero comics, but are bored of the usual bad guy vs. good guy plots, do yourself a favor and check out this series.

I've been championing this series since its first volume which launched a fresh idea in a fun package. This second volume has taken that ball and run with it. Do yourself a favor and pick up the first volume if you haven't, I guarantee you'll be hooked. It's not too late to dive in and get into this capes and tights series that mixes action with drama.

This issue is perfect for long time readers with some payoff but horrible for new readers. For them, I absolutely going back and starting from the beginning, it's totally worth it.

Overall, the Rotworld story was pretty satisfying, though the ending seemed a bit rushed. The problem I see it is that with this conclusion, we get a reset in a way of both series. The next issue will be a perfect jumping on point for new readers. We'll see though, if these last 6 months has really paid off, for those of us there from the beginning.

This is a great start as to what continues to be one of the best series of the new-52.

The story might not be totally original, but the fact it flies in the face of today's decompressed stories won it points in my book. Further that there's some great writing, some of the verbal exchanges are solid, and fantastic art makes it an easy suggestion that folks should be picking this one up.

This is an actual hopping on point for new readers, hallelujah! I'd actually say folks should grab a copy of this and read it before Superior Spider-Man #1, it does it's job and does it's job really well.

If you've never read a Valiant book, the publisher has one of the best universes out there, and make it a point to be able to dive into their series without the knowledge of tons of continuity. Here that succeed with that again, providing a perfect jumping on point for new readers. I'm sure once you're done with the first issue, you'll not only want to complete the next four issues, but also see what else Valiant has to offer. To provide such ease for new readers is a feather in Valiant's and Van Meter's hat, and to be able to do so with such an entertaining first issue is even more impressive. I can't wait to see where the series goes, and hopefully we'll be seeing more of the death-defying Doctor Mirage from here on out.

Overall, there's not much that's groundbreaking here when it comes to story or art, but there is a lot of good, clean fun. And in today's comic market, that is actually groundbreaking.

If you're looking for a strange take on history, this is one to really check out, there's not much out there like it.

The Woods #1 might seem familiar at times, but it's a hell of fun start.

A powerful new chapter in the Transformers saga begins here! This is a comic no Transformers fan should miss!

I'm a fan of this type of comic and for a first issue, this is a solid beginning with solid action and pacing. The comic's fun and entertaining, can't wait to see where it goes.

The bad guys in this issue, I shrug my shoulders at. I don't remember if they were in the cartoon, so my opinions might be due to that. The action itself kind of came out of nowhere too. But, overall the idea of the team figuring out this grand conspiracy has been really entertaining.

The first issue does a great job of introducing us to Rori, and it sets up a lot of mysteries that will be explained as the series progresses. There's a lot thrown at us, especially in the latter part of the book, and that's not completely explained, nor does it need to be. All of it is intriguing, and seems like it could be a lot of fun to explore. Wayward #1 is a solid debut, bringing us a new female heroine to cheer for. Is it the next coming of Buffy? That we'll have to wait and see.

Rosenberg and Kindlon focused on characters in the debut, and succeeded. We Can Never Go Home #1 is a fascinating start, to what's one of the more interesting debuts of

It's been a while since the big change in the Top Cow universe, but Witchblade is still going strong. Things might be slightly different with a new creative team, but it is still a great comic. In a light week, do yourself a favor a check out what you've been missing.

It's been a bit since I've been really excited over Witchblade, but in this first issue, Marz and Braga breathe new life into the character, and I can't wait to see where they go with it.

This is a more action focused issue as Bloodshot focuses in on his mission to figure out his past. It's a bridge issue taking the initial set up of the first three issues and moving onto the greater story. It's interesting so far, but not quite as good as I think it could be.

On top of that, we now have a good idea as to why Bloodshot and Harbinger are going to clash, or at least parts of them. This comic is completely foreshadowing that. So, if you're interested in that upcoming story-arc, this comic is a must read. If you want an entertaining comic, then that's another solid reason to pick this one up.

The second issue is still setting it all up and we're still figuring out all the players and exactly what the plot is of the comic. It's a slow reveal that'll keep me around for at least the first story arc.

There's some great humor in this comic, the idea of these people always being cursed or how they dealt with the Djinn. Plus there's the action and the scheming between the Queens. It's all adding up to an interesting comic. It's not the best of the twisted tales, but it's a worthy addition to what's out there. How it differs and stands out is a part of the attraction to it. If you enjoy a comic with female leads that twists up traditional fairy tales, you should definitely check this one out.

Overall, the comic is really good. It might not have grabbed to the point that if I was a new reader, Id have gotten hooked and wanted more, but its a great point for new readers. Venditti had a tough task with this first issue, and he does a hell of a job balancing it all.

Relic is a great addition to the Lantern mythos and I seriously have no idea what might happen next and how this all will get resolved. For this team to do that is impressive. It's looking like Lights Out might be a hell of an event, one that'll fly under the radar from all of the other more high-profile ones going on. Do yourself a favor and pick this up as well as the lead up to it.

Overall, the issue is really good. I'm not going to gush over it as much as others have, but it's a solid start.

The second issue improves on the first, setting up a superhero story that seems like it'll be pretty epic.

If you like the idea of angels and demons battling it out on earth, this is a series well worth checking out.

Remender has given us an Ultron that fits the modern comics landscape, and with that a more sinister villain. He's also created an original graphic novel from Marvel that's not only great to read, but also may be a vital one due to what happens within.

And because of this, the news feels shoehorned in. It's an ok issue, definitely suffering from now having regular writer Gail Simone, who I can't help but think would of given the issue the humanity it misses.

This comic is a change, a massive change, breaking what feels like every rule from DC Comics. The comic is fresh, fun, vibrant…. and another example of what we need more of. Batgirl is dead. Long live Batgirl!

Blood Brothers has a lot of potential to be a fun summer read.

Overall, the series hasn't blown me away, but it is quite fun and entertaining, worth checking out as an alternative to the rest of the capes and tights.

The issue was a good first issue, but not excellent. Overall, my gut says that after a few issues, the series will be, and that it's just a slow start. Maybe folks who are more familiar with the characters will enjoy it more, but for me, it was only ok.

I can't say I recommend the comic as a “buy” but it is worth reading. I have a feeling the series will get better as the next feel issues come out, but this first one's story is a bit strange for me to totally get behind it.

Logan has lived a hard life, and you feel the weight of it all coming down on him. I myself went in with a bit of cynicism about death in comics, but really who cares. The story is fantastic, the art is amazing. The combination of the two, perfect (add in beautiful coloring too). Wolverine deserves a solid send-off, and in this first issue it looks like he'll get one that befits him.

The issues that came before had some fantastic commentary from writer and artist dissecting the issue, this one misses that, and if ever there needed to be some thought process it's this. I'm not a fan of how Wolverine has "died," but I'd love to know the thought process of how he went. I don't know what I'd of done different in all honesty, but in the end the Death of Wolverine was a bit anticlimactic.

If you've seen the movie, there's not much different here, so far subtle differences. What's amazing is how the reaction to the same story can differ between how we consume that media. I loved the movie, of course I'm enjoying the comic. It's Tarantino, kind of hard for it to be bad.

Overall, for those that love the Ponds, this might console you a bit as they continue their fun with the Doctor on the pages of this new series.

The character itself, not sure if he's my form of entertainment, but the comic was absolutely interesting. Enough so that I want to check out the second issue and see where Snider takes it.

That together with solid art by Lori Hanson has be high with hope for this story arc. The series is a bit disconnected with it's focus on various assistants, but I'm guessing it'll all come together eventually.

It's just a first issue though and while the story might not be totally exciting, Michael Allred's art is amazing. For that alone, the comic is worth checking out. He brings his usual style in what I'm sure will be the quirkiest comic in Marvel NOW!.

Easily the best out of the three current G.I. Joe series.

Overall, this is the first issue of an “event.” Something big is likely to happen when it's all over, it's just a question of what. Fialkov had a few goals for this issue, get the ball rolling as far as the story and make it accessible for new readers while interesting for long time readers. He pulls all that off with a solid beginning. I can't quite call this a “buy” since it's just a sliver of the story, but it's a great “read” and I think when it's all over, the complete story will be a “buy.”

Not sure where this series is going, but out of a lot of the new series Image has released lately, this one has me the most intrigued.

Overall, the first issue is good. It doesn't quite jump out to me, especially due to the fact there's numerous series out there right now with a similar plot. But, there's more than enough there to get me to come back and see where it goes from here.

I've liked what's come before. It's been fun entertainment. Here's hoping that with a new name, more people are willing to give it a chance and find what they've been missing out on.

The last issue had a shocking moment and this issue is riddled with them. I used to say this series was the female equivalent of the Punisher, but it's now so different, so much more. We're now looking at a character completely losing it and control over her situation unraveling and it's a fascinating and entertaining ride.

This is the classic young kid given powers and having to decide what he's going to do with them, and to how to even use them. It's a solid first issue, more than enough that I'll come back for the second.

Miner has a solid second volume in the making. Again he puts together a socially relevant and “political” comic without being overtly preaching. While moments are shocking, the story is entertainment with a message. Pulling that off is impressive.

Overall, I don't want to ding the series for what it's been described as, and what it is so far. It's a solid comic, entertaining, fun, good read. Overall, it's an interesting first issue that gets me to want to read the second. Lets hope Millar delivers on the hype.

The comic is interesting and hopefully it'll go on discussing great themes and socio-issues like religion, sobriety, mental health and perception of reality. This first issue is an interesting read overall. But that doesn't mean it didn't leave me perplexed at the same time. As a mini-series, the overall work matters more than an individual part, but this first part had me torn. I can't quite recommend it for people to buy, but at the same time, it's set up is so odd and interesting, it's hard not to.

The issue is solid for another reason, it's a good jumping on point. There's some big changes coming for Nightwing, and this is the point new readers can hop on to find out this change's motivation. It accomplishes two things, allows Nightwing to deal with the past and look towards the future. It's one of the best of the “Requiem” tie-ins.

This one-shot is a must for fans of the series and those wanting to find out about events after the end of the second volume. For the rest, you need to do yourself a favor and start from the first volume to read what is one of the best comic series on the market.

If you tried the series when it debuted and gave up, Soule has invigorated the series and given it the characters and depth it deserves and I knew could be done. He's still laying out his long term plan, so now is the time to hop on and see what you've been missing.

This is an action movie in graphic novel form. A fun, entertaining read you'll be able to sit down in the afternoon and enjoy, perfect for sitting outside during the spring or summer and enjoy hot action on those hot days.

IDW's Skylanders comic is a worthy addition to the growing line of comics geared towards kids. And more impressively, even though it's an off-shoot of a very successful toy/game line, it doesn't feel as such. If you're a long time fan of Skylanders, or totally new to it all, Skylanders is simply fun. This is an absolute buy for fans of the serious, or those looking for a fun comic to give their kids.

But this issue is all about the set up. And it does that well. It's a fun read, again $1, there's no excuse to not get it. I think the series will have to be judge as a whole and when that's done, this first issue will rise up a bit in it's standing.

The first issue of Southern Cross is really good, but there's absolutely some flaws to it. But, there's more than enough to make me want to come back and see where the mystery goes from here.

The series so far as a whole has been entertaining slowly dragging out the introduction to our heroine and letting us discover her as she discovers who's behind attacks on her. Overall solid and entertaining fun.

This is murder, mayhem, and mystery22,000 miles straight up. Like all good cop stories, it'll live and die by the interaction of it's main pairing, and so far this is a decent one. The first issue left me intrigued. This'll be one to watch out for.

Overall, the comic is a solid first issue that's great for folks who enjoy tense spy and submarine films. There's a classic throwback to it all, that's a big part of the draw for me.

While the main cops and robbers story is very familiar, the setting has changed. The fact the target is rather appropriate and in the news as to largesse makes it all the more familiar. The Tithe might be a bit blasphemous, but it's the type of blasphemy I enjoy.

The series has really fleshed out a cartoon series I only vaguely remember. But what it's amazingly done is made it cool for adults, mixing a tragic story, science fiction and well giant robots and monsters. This isn't the kiddie show I remember from back in the day, it's formed up and been made better.

So, lets overall look at this. We have a Visigoth, in alien army, on modern day earth, fighting a ninja and having to prevent an alien invasion. That's a lot there to take in and make work together. The series has been good, and getting better as it's been going on. I think this issue is the strongest and really gets the story moving forward, something that seems to be a pattern with a lot of the Valiant comics.

Valiant as a whole has put together a comic world that's not matched by any other company. It's clear, clean, makes sense, and organically evolves. Each piece works on its own, and there's the greater whole. X-O Manowar as a series shows that off. While this seems to be a storyline focused on X-O, I'm prepared for its greater ramifications upon the Valiant Universe. This is a solid issue to read, and for long time fans, they'll enjoy where things are going. For new readers, it's not the best place to start, hence the "read" below. As a whole, the series should be checked out, especially for folks looking for superhero comic alternatives beyond the big two.

When I first read the issue three years ago, and have re-read it, I still am. Like most noir out there, it's not totally original, but it has personality and enough to make it stand out. If you dig a detective story with a super hero twist, pick up a copy.

There's no excuse not to get it no matter what us reviewers think. Here's a perfect opportunity to check out a comic on your own and make up your own opinion with no risk to your wallet.

I think the story and series is just starting, and this looks like this'll be a fun one to see where it goes down the road. Because right now, anything can happen.

This issue falls into that pit of not being sure if it wants to be part of the bigger story, and for that, it falls short.

Death and destruction, invasion and war will follow each week, and whether you're a hardcore Earth 2 regular or not, you won't want to miss this fantastic new series.

It's a cool and different enough ending that I want to see what happens next.

You can tell this is a story being told the way they want to be told. It's a high concept blending story, art and music together. Each section of the first issues is paired with the talents of an artist who does it justice and enhances the story.

Overall, this is an entertaining example of cross-media entertainment, but the series needs to pick up a bit for me.

12 Reasons to Die is an interesting comic, one that should be checked out, whether you're a Wu-Tang Clan fan or not.

I'd think my issues with this first issue will go away as the series progresses. It seems like a lot of fun and will be a nice read each month. But, as far as first issues goes, it was good, but didn't suck me back in to be super excited for the second issue.

We've got one issue to go in this series, so it'll be very interesting to see how it wraps up, but as a whole, this volume has been a fun edition to the greater B.P.R.D. world.

It's a bit odd to go from this giant end of the world story to this one, but my guess is it'll all tie in together. That's the enjoyment of this volume, how it plays in to the bigger picture.

I can't quite recommend the series as a buy, but it's definitely a read to me. I encourage folks to check it out themselves and come up with their own opinions.

It's just the first issue, so I'm doing my best to not get to hard on the comic, but it's not looking good and I fear Captain America's best stories might be behind him, for at least the short term.

Eight issues in, and I feel like I'm still learning who these characters are. Not a bad series, but I think it's really made for diehard fans of the television series.

This all has very much been set up, where the series goes from here is key. The dominoes are in place and where it falls and goes we'll see. The bigger is what the greater implication for the Valiant universe will be.

Hit gives us crooked cops with a skewed view of justice and one hell of a read. If you're a fine of crime stories, this is an absolute buy.

The first issue is interesting, and I think fans of Top Cow's two different tracts will be excited to see where this all goes, I definitely am. For folks who haven't ever checked out a Top Cow comic, this could be a nice start for those who dig futuristic settings.

This limited series is absolutely for adults and for something different, definitely worth checking out.

The first issue almost tries to do too much on its own, but once the first arc lays out, I'm hoping things will be clearer and expect the whole to be stronger than the individual parts.

As a first issue goes, I was hoping for a bit more, but I think the overall sum will add up to be greater than it's parts. So, the series has me intrigued, looking forward to see what we can expect when the second issue rolls around. My gut says this will be a series that starts off slow, but pays off once it gets rolling.

If you like Ghostbusters or Hoax Hunters, definitely check out this series. It's a solid addition to their brand of entertainment.

For the originality and difference alone the comic is a buy. It definitely isn't for everyone and for it's title, there really is little gorilla in this first issue. It's all set-up in what might be the strangest comic of the year.

Overall, there's been much hype leading up to this debut. The issue is good, not great, filled with a lot of potential, and a step in the right direction for Superman in the New 52.

Overall, the issue feels like a bit of a kick start and mission statement for the series. Nice to see the death of a character lead in a positive direction and used for the narrative good, instead of just shock.

Overall, the first issue takes a concept we've seen before, and presents it in an interesting way to start. It's just a sliver of the bigger picture and larger story, and I finished the first issue wishing I could just read it all at once. That being said, Echert and Sanchez have produced some epic series in the past, and I expect no less of this one. Add in Bayliss' art, and you've got an intriguing series that I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

But, the comic suffers from over hype. It's an interesting direction, and the art and writing is solid, but can't say it's a “bold new” one.

Still, it's a tie-in that adds a bit about motivation and the thought process going on within these characters.

The story itself is pretty good, though a bit thin at points. There is a lot of action that looks fantastic. By itself, the story is only ok, but as an ending for what Johns has built up, it's a satisfying conclusion. The biggest downside to the issue is inconsistent art. Not bad, but there's just some noticeable issues.

Overall, for Parker's first issue, there's more than enough here to have me come back for more and see what else he has in store for us.

Though it was a slow start, the series is finally getting to the point and quality I was expecting. If you've enjoyed these two's past sci-fi epics, you better do yourself a favor and grab this series from the beginning. It's well worth the build up.

I'm hoping that, while this is the end to this particular story, it isn't the end for this world and we get a second volume. There's just too much solid material here to not explore. While this final issue wrapped up a lot, it also opened up so much more that is too good to be left on the shelf to gather dust.
