The Toxic Avenger (2024) #3

Dec 11, 2024

The Toxic Avenger #3 builds on the story Matt Bors has been telling while adding a new threat for our toxic hero. The addition of the alien conspiracy has upped the ante and moved the story forward. The flashback in this issue highlights the past and what has shaped Melvin as a person, and now as a hero. Moving the story forward, well also building up the characters that we are falling in love with is a big win for issue 2.

Archaic (2024) #1

Dec 4, 2024

Archaic #1 is a good introduction into this brand-new world. The story is shrouded in mystery and as the layers are peeled back it unfolds in an interesting way. Melissa F. Olson does a great job of building anticipation and not giving too much away.

Shiver Suspenstories (2024) #1

Dec 11, 2024

Shiver SuspenStories #1 is a good first issue that delivers what it promises. The issue gets a bonus as there is also a reprint of a story called Two of a Kind from Vault of Horror #26 which was originally published in 1952 at the end of the issue. Overall, this is another horror anthology from Oni Press/EC Comics that delivers entertainment value, and you should give it a read.

Void Rivals (2023) #13

Oct 23, 2024

The kickoff issue for the next chapter of Void Rivals delivers us with the seeds to move the story forward. Introducing some new characters to the world that will make a huge crossover impact is clutch. Kirkman does a great job building on the world that hes been creating, well keeping it fresh with new characters and situations.

Void Rivals (2023) #14

Nov 27, 2024

This issue is what can only be described as a table setting issue. Not much goes down in the way of action, but what it lacks their it picks up in the story. Kirkman is setting up for the next chapter in this series. A little bit of a slow build, but hopefully it will be pay off in issues to come.

Spawn #359

Nov 27, 2024

Spawn #359 is a good bridging issue in this current story arc for Spawn. Rory McConville sets the table nicely for where this arc is going in the next few issues. All be it not the most exciting issue of the arc, it will be an issue that gives us the keys to what's going on in future issues.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White & Green (2024) #3

Jul 31, 2024

It was a ton of fun going back into the world of TMNT. As a child I was a huge fan of the original cartoon series. I also played all the games, had the action figures, and when I was a little older dove into the comic series. So, you could say this was a good way to remind me of my fandom.

This book kept my interest throughout its 122-page story. It has a little bit of everything, some mystery, some puzzles, some horror, and twists galore. To say this book keeps you guessing is an understatement. Being a graphic novel has its pros & cons.

Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt (2024) #3

Jul 31, 2024

Putting a book end on this review, I can honestly say although I had some problems with this issue, I don't regret giving it a read. The art and the Blade storyline were worth the read. Plus, it made me excited to see what the launch of Blade #1 will be.
